We had the calamari which was a good flavor and cooked just right , however instead of an overflowing basket , there was 12 pieces laid out on a tray , which is not a good portion for 4 ppl to split. Wanted to try the new steakhouse, so went with my wife, sister and her husband to celebrate 2 birthday (last week). My wife has celiac disease, where she gets violently ill if she eats wheat products/gluten. She alerted the server, asking what would be recommended options. Settling on a seafood dish, the server clearly promised she would alert the kitchen to ensure no utensils would be used to make her dish that were also in process of being used for other dishes. The other 3 of us had steaks, which were good. My wife loved the taste of her dish and was going to take home the leftover. She started to feel a reaction she typically gets at the on-start of being "wheated" and asked the server if she was certain there was no wheat products used in her dish. The server told her the sauce had flour to thicken it! Although the damage was done, we asked to speak with the manager/owner to alert them what happened and to let him know my wife was going to get VERY sick for the next 4 days and we were leaving for vacation the next morning. The server kept trying to get the manager to come over and eventually he did (after joking with a customer in the bar for 15 minutes). The manager gave no indication of concern, said he'd check with the kitchen and never came back to discuss further. Our server said she'd remove my wife's dish from the bill. This resulted in a horrible vacation with my wife in bed for 4 days. Although the food was pretty good, it took nearly 2 hours to get it, they had obvious rookie servers (the bartender warned us that they did not know how to make most drinks on their menu and to be patient with her) and the manager (I think also the owner) did not seem to care at all about our situation. read more

Steaks were done well. Sides and appetizers were meh. Service was very good. The steaks were really good; especially the filet mignon which was very tender and juicy. The peppercorn sauce that went with the steak was good too. The extra $3 for the crab Oscar topping on the steaks was not worth it, as it was drowned out by the flavor of the steak. I also enjoyed the seafood bisque. The Cesar salad was not great. The dressing was a vinaigrette style as opposed to the more tradition creamy variety. The creamed spinach just tasted like Cambells fat free mushroom soup over some spinach which was not very appetizing looking and didn't taste very good either. I also had some grilled zucchini which was just kind of bland and overcooked. Rice and mashed potatoes were ordinary. We had the crab stuffed ship appetizer which was just ok. The hollandaise sauce kind of spoiled it for me as it was more oily than creamy. The service was very good. Staff was friendly. Our drinking glasses never went dry and even the hostess helped out when needed. The cost for two of us with tip was $75. If they improved their sides, I'd try them again. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed the steak and homemade chicken Alfredo. It is nice to have a good steakhouse in mchenry. They have a beautiful outdoor seating tent if inside is not an option for you. My wife and I went to try it out as it's new and it was our anniversary. Nice décor, good Mai Tais, food wasn't great. The crab cake appetizer wasn't hot all the way through, my steak was overcooked while my scallops were undercooked. The highlight of the meal was the loaded baked potato soup, pretty good. The service was average. Time to get the meal was long, considering that it was a Thursday and they weren't packed at all. It's Friday night before Mother's Day! Here with my daughters for a family dinner. The food and service are a fresh breath of air compared to other McHenry restaurants. Their forward thinking menu brings much needed choices Our waitress is great! Fast forward to 2/23/19. I forgot to post the above! Back at Addison's for a Saturday night dinner. Great service, drinks and food ! My friend and I shared the oysters with spinach. Delicious! I was recovering from a very bad cold so I only had the chicken Angolemonolo soup & a salad. Both were wonderful & the salad was so big I took half home & it was just as good the next day!! My friend had the baked fish special and there wasn't a morsel left on his plate! I highly recommend the gray goose martinis! The owners John & Brianna are very friendly and make an effort to stop by everyone's tables to make sure they're happy with everything. Go early and stay late! The bartender Teddy is awesome & it's a cozy place to chit chat! 5 stars!! read more

Our 1st and last time at Addison's Steakhouse. Not a big fan of the industrial decor to begin with. On to the food: we had the crab stuffed shrimp- came out burnt. When the waitress came by and asked how it was, show her it was burnt. She said something to the effect- that isn't good. We ate it because we waited forever for it. I had the salad with bleu cheese dressing- I didn't care for the dressing at all, had an odd taste. We split a cup of the avgolemono soup- that was very good! I had the scallops- it was ok, I didn't taste any thyme or lemon in the rice, and the lemon butter reduction tasted more like salt than anything else. My husband got the ribeye with the chimichuri butter- he ended up scrapping of the butter- it did not taste like chimichuri at all. Very expensive price point for fair food. read more

I ordered steak (medium) and I got WELL DONE (charred). Not a bit of pink. I think it's reasonable to expect more from a steakhouse and it's staff. The server did not offer for another steak to be made for me or offer a discount. She looked at the steak and said oh it's just the ends. Seriously, this was the worst birthday dinner ever. When you are spending $40.00+ for a meal you should not have to settle for less than what a great steakhouse should be serving. Terrible service! Dry 1 roll per person, glasses filthy, rude owner! A server broke a glass on the floor and the hostess continued to march people thru the broken glass and told them to be careful! Really? Why not have someone clean it up before having people walk thru/over the pieces of glass. I felt the need to call the next day to voice my disappointment and let the owner know my concerns about my experience and she hung up on me!! Came in from out of town looking 4 a steakhouse. At Hampton Inn they recommended Addison's. There were three of us 4 dinner. Our waitress, Molly was spot on with recommendations, bringing drinks and food courses in a timely manner. Checking often 2 see if we needed more bread, drinks, water or if we wanted desserts. The Cherry Smash was a great drink. Sweet, but not too sweet. We all ordered the Filet Mignon, but cooked to different degrees. All steaks arrived cooked 2 perfection enhanced by the chosen sauce or compound butter, the steak itself was flavorful even w/out the sauce. The asparagus was crisp tender and the pepper/onion mix impressed. The 2 desserts of chocolate cake and sea salt caramel fudge ice cream topped brownie was delectable and portion sized enough for 2 to share. It's actually a shame. Food is marginal. Cold, not prepared properly. I sent cold food back and got cold food in return. You have to sear scallops! It's not arguable. Our waiter 100% agreed and said he did what he was told. Place was empty on a Saturday night. It's unfortunate as we need a place like this in Mchenry. Without major changes this will end. Never coming back. Half of my party ordered medium rare steak, and it came back cold, fatty as ever, and cooked medium. No pink in the middle whatsoever. When we told the waitress, Kiaya, she told us that the cuts we ordered are normally fatty. A little fattiness, yes we understand. But so much fat to the point that I can't even eat half of my 12 oz steak??? Unacceptable. She had such an attitude when she asked if there was anything she could do, that we felt uncomfortable asking her to take it back. She knew we were disappointed but didn't do anything. When we were brought our bill after waiting for 30 minutes, she gave us more attitude and told us that if we were unhappy we could talk to the manager. We had her bring the manager to the table and the manager said he saw the steaks before they were brought to our table, and knew they didn't look good. So why did they end up at our table??? Kiaya came back to the table and "apologized" and 2 of the 3 steaks were compensated. Definitely not coming back. Visitors beware. read more

This is are new go to steak house. From the time you step in the door you can tell this is a warm family run business. We have been there twice and both times the food was excellent. Steaks are the best cut with a lot of choices for crusts or a yummy butter flavor. I had a pork schnitzel that was on special that wss one of the best. First time here. Small place so you're going need reservations otherwise open seating one bar area, where we wound up, unfortunately having to listen to some loudmouth drunk yelling and being obnoxious and no one telling him to quiet down a bit, but apparently it's ok you act that way cause he "knows the owner" Took a little bit for food to come out and when it did it was wrong, my fiance's steak was the wrong one, dry and overcooked. Kudos to the server for admitting HE screwed up and ordered the wrong steak. I can tell the difference between a sirloin and filet! The correct steak was then prepared but took a long time to come out, almost 30min for an 8oz 1 1/4" thick. A dessert was offered, a drink was offered, did not want either as it was late and near close by now. Not once did anyone but the server apologize or make any offer of compensation for my meal being all but gone by the time her meal came to the table. While the owner/manager sat at the end of the bar enjoying his beer with a friend and off duty staff. Also had the pleasure of listening to staff rolling silverware behind our table complain about guests and operations. I don't look for freebies and dont really bitch but when you are spending that amount of money and trying to enjoy a nice meal TOGETHER it sucks that the only person that truly cared was the server. Not everyone wants a drink or a dessert so maybe something else should have been done, like take care of a couple of the drinks already ordered(seen as how you were offering to take care of a couple anyway) or an adjustment to her meal for the inconvenience, or hey better yet, the manager/owner put down the beer and acknowledge us on our way out and say something. We have been here few times for drinks, appetizers and sandwiches which were amazing. We chose to dine tonight for appetizers/steak dinners and wine. The service was impeccable but the food definitely fell short and was sub par. We ordered a dozen oyster Rockefeller which where almost inedible, the spinach and cheese were overpowering to the point where we didn't finish them. We each ordered a different steak from bone in rib eye to filets at medium rare temp along with sides varying from potatoes to vegetables.... not one steak was med rare and ALL the food was barely room temp. Everyone attributed it to the fact that we had a late night dinner (8:00) on a Wednesday night. We were extremely disappointed in the food but the service, atmosphere and wine made the evening. read more

Went there on Thursday December 27th and had the asparagus soup to start which was very good and my friend got the lobster sandwich which was like eating a sponge, seriously not edible. The chef comes out of the back to check reservations and my friend asked if he was the chef. He responds yes and walks away. Usually if someone asks you that question they want to talk to you so crappy customer service as they had a chance to make it right. We complained to the bartender as she didn't even ask how it was after only taking 2 bites, and the only reason for the second was to confirm it was really that bad. Her answer, well the Chef tastes it before it goes out and he said it is fine. I very rarely complain so when I do it has to be really bad. So they had a chance to comp it and have us come back or charge us $16 and lose a customer. I know if I was bartending what I would have done but they chose the other decision to lose a customer. Too bad as it's probably just a bad choice on the menu and otherwise probably pretty good but we'll never know as we won't go back. read more

We finally tried Addison's Steakhouse last night. Liked the atmosphere. Pretty cool. There were 4 of us for dinner and everyone agreed. It was just okay food. Just okay serving sizes at best. Sat at the bar for a couple of drinks with our friends after we ate dinner and had an enjoyable time. The BIG however is what gives this a 2 star review. I am a huge fan of a salad as an entree. That's what I like to order. The Cobb salad for 11dollars was worth a try. It came out and it was a collective "Whoa" from our group. I left probably 1/2 of a chopped head of lettuce on my large plate. On the Cobb was : 4 small pieces of avocado. Very few bits of crunchy cubed chicken. Small squares of bacon and I requested - No corn which the kitchen obliged. Blue cheese dressing in 2 cups came with it. The dressing was sour cream in the cups. Obviously a piece of blue cheese mixed in. Also sliced egg. The prep people are certainly smart. What better presentation than making an entree salad only look huge by making it with a platter of 90% lettuce and 10% main ingredients?!?! The worst meal ever. My vote would be to never go back here for food. Drinks only. Bull Dog's Ale House down the road - Now there are some beautiful salads there and worth the money. You can't finish them. This was a total rip-off. Not a good first impression for this McHenry girl. I wouldn't go back. Suggestion. Get some training on portion sizes. read more

I had the ribeye and my wife had seafood risotto. Those were pretty good, but nothing that really wowed us. We also had the grilled avocado as an appetizer which was very good. Their house made cocktails were phenomenal though. It was a little loud in there for a steakhouse and wasn't expecting TVs, however it was still nice inside. Let me start by saying the food was great! but the waitress that we had ruined our whole experience she was rude and sarcastic. I'm 46 years old and I have never not tipped even when I receive less than great service. But after you are greeted with Sarcasm because I asked her to split the checks and then when the checks were wrong she got loud and defensive and said if we don't like it don't come back, instead of simply just getting a manager to dissolve the situation she escalated the situation. No problem solving skills what so ever. Then accused us of being the "type of people" who just make a fuss so that we don't have to tip is totally ridiculous! My colleagues and I travel all over the country for work and our company pays for our meals (hence why we needed the checks split) so there's no money shortage and we are encouraged to tip generously because we do find ourselves in new environments. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and I am still in disbelief at the way we were treated. read more

First off, if you read Patrick H's review, it's a lie, a grossly over exaggerated review which is downright false. I was sitting at a table right next to the 3 women and this is not how the incident went down. The 3 women were very condescending and RUDE to the waitress when she made a mistake on the BILL which was being split 3 ways. A simple, hey part of her bill is on my bill can you please correct it? Nope, not these ladies- Not one mention of bacon or any other BS this guy is saying. We heard it ALL. After they left we made sure to let the waitress and manager know they were lying and we heard the whole thing. This little ploy had nothing to do with them being black, it had to do with them looking for a way to NOT LEAVE A TIP. It was obvious. What Patrick also failed to say in his review is how they wrote all over the receipts nasty comments like "Eat shit and die". They thought that was appropriate? Absolutely uncalled for. Obviously they have a "habit" of causing problems at restaurants. Thins is their "thing". This was our first time eating here and had great food and great service. The drinks were amazing too.
