We went for the Sunday jazz band 5-8pm .The performance was Just as good or better than jazz band performances in American cities . The band leader said this is one of the last live band venues in the GVRD.. There was the usual drink and food menus. Reasonably Selections and priced. The Admiral might consider to have some sort of jazz theme drink and food to make it more fun and exciting ..... .. The place cud have attracted more people as most were other musicians or friends and family ... The ambiance is really a traditional pub and the service is great. Food is decent and they always have specials. If you live in the Heights they have been around for decades. Food sucked. The clubhouse sandwich was slathered in mayonnaise, all the chicken was on one half of the sandwich. I asked for no cheese and got cheese anyways. The hot wings were previously frozen and breaded and bland . The fries were good but you don't get many. The extensive menu they previously had is gone and I found the new menu to be extremely limited. I regularly book large groups at the Admiral to celebrate birthdays and or anniversaries. The live music is awesome and we love the food and happy hour specials. And we love to dance. The servers are friendly and the foods good. We go at least once a month. Free parking is available on the street or just across the street in a fairly large parking lot. It's pay parking at the back of the pub. Big screen tv's so you can catch a game too. We love the Sunday Jazz Brunch and we are so fortunate to hear Gabriel Mark Hasselbach (a Juno Award winning artist) play. Check out Gabriels website. He's so good. Happy Valentine's Day. I just got charged $30 for two glasses of lime juice. I'm not sure what kind of scam the surly, tatoo-backed old lady bartender was pulling, but there was no alcohol in the double margarita's we just ordered. My only regret is paying for the horrible drinks before leaving with my wife, both of us with acid-churning stomachs. For a drink that is one ounce tequila, one ounce triple sec and one ounce lime juice, we'd be able to taste the tequila or sweetness of the triple sec like we did last week when we ordered the same drink from a different bartender. Nothing but the sour taste of lime juice on the rocks. I went to the bartender with my disappointment and she said rudely that the reason it tasted like that was because there was no simple syrup. Yeah...no, that's what the triple sec and tequila are for. The shady drink slinger defensively said she made the drinks properly, not offering to make them better or add anything to them, even knowing that I was not happy with them. My wife and I only drink on special occasions and a double is plenty to catch a little buzz off of. Not today, not even close. I used to be a bartender and we make our own margaritas at home. The last time we came in we were impressed that the bartender made the marg very similar to the way we do. This is why we came back on Valentines Day, to give some business to our local pub and listen to some live music. This bartender sucks at her job and was disrespectful. The experience is bad enough that I will give my money to literally any other business in the neighbourhood before going back to the Admiral. Went to the Jazz Brunch on Sunday. Gabriel Mark Hasselbach and his band were playing, so the music was exceptional. Had the Admiral Breakfast which was of poor quality. Eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast were ok, but the sausage appeared to have been cooked at some earlier date and then reheated to serve to me. The sausage links were shrivelled, dried out, tough, and flavourless. Unfortunately, once delivered to our table, our server did not check back to see if our meals were satisfactory (a typical occurrence). I was very disappointed in the sausage as it never should have been served to anyone. Food at the Admiral is very hit or miss. Sometimes it is quite good but yesterday's breakfast was disappointing. read more

Let me start off by saying that my visit here was very spontaneous & last minute. And by that, I mean I literally pulled the "next stop" thing on the bus after passing by. I decided to stop here after I had seen they were voted "Best in Burnaby" (or something of that nature) and wanted to check them out. That and the fact that it was day 1 of the June 2021 heatwave and after being on the bus, I needed a cold drink. Upon walking in (and signing in cause pandemic) I was asked if I wanted to sit outside or inside. I elected for inside because it offered shade and all the shady tables outside were occupied. I placed my order for a Magners and was pleasantly surprised at the "imperial pint" I was given. It was the perfect temp for such an unbearably hot day. This place is bad. As in really bad. The food came out in less than 5min which is definitely not a good sign. Ordered a couple appies and knew not to order anything else. The food seemed old and was likely sitting under a hot lamp all day. Was also likely just made from frozen because there was nothing fresh about it. Lots of other pubs out there with comparable pricing and better quality food. Wish I could say more about this place but the picture speaks for itself. Microwaved frozen shrimps, day old calamari (batter was soggy) and dry pork ribs that tasted rancid because they haven't changed the cooking oil in a while. Hence the dark colour. i came here with 5 people and all of our drinks were made wrong. The gin martini came as a vodka martini, a gin soda came as a sambucca soda??? and our 2 other gin sodas came out as gin and tonics. This could have been ignored, but the bartenders actions are were what prompted me to make this review. When I asked to have the G&T remade to a gin and soda, but the drink came out, but so did the bartender. He was quite scary and had a G&T with him as well. He was trying to tell me that the G&T tasted like a gin and soda and was pointing at it telling me to drink it because I should have just been happy with that. I said absolutely not, I know what tonic taste like and it's super gross so I don't want it. He ended up storming away with his glass of G&T. In what world does this crappy bartender have the audacity to try to gaslight me to drink his crappy drink he made and tell me it's all the same. the amount of attempted gaslighting was enough for me. New owners, new menu and time for a new review. Now that I've been a handful of times I can confidently say it's time for me to move along. Everything about the old place that I liked is gone. While it may look the same inside the vibe is definitely different. I was excited about the new menu especially the curry choices but it's mediocre at best. Three of us women went to the Admiral pub to celebrate a birthday. We sat in the area that required us to pay a cover charge after 8 pm, which was fine because we were told in advance. Two of us ordered the top sirloin special, which was reasonably priced. The problem was that we both got sick. The steak tasted fine, but we both ended up with a bad headache that lasted a few days. So I gave this place a 4-star rating. That reason being, drinks were tasty and great Elvis show hands down a lot of fun and awesome talented men!! However, those are the only reasons for the 4 stars. First time at this pub and it was a school fundraiser event that I get to try this place. We only had a limited food - burger & fries with the choice of beer or wine that was included in our ticket. But we had to order more drinks to keep us hydrated. I recommend the Trashy Panda if you like smoky type of beer and a shot of Tequila too. I go to the Admiral as it's one of the few places that still supports live music! Our server was amazing but management needs to give their head a shake. I drove 40 minutes to meet up with friends. I arrived at 730pm. Was told both red house wines were sold out. The only one left was naked grape which I cannot drink. Was ordering a half litre and then was going to order some dinner. No substitutions and even when suggestions were given the bartender tried to speak to management and management refused. I was left for 3 hours drinking water. I still tipped as these gals came to work despite the current situation. I'll make sure next time I go I eat first and have a drink down the street. There was no signs that said no minors and literally nobody in the restaurant. We were just hungry for a burger and couldnt even get anyone to acknowlege us from the moment we walked in. Finally after 20 mins of sitting around the waitress walks up to us and asks if we have id which my 2 little brothers obviously didnt they are 11 and 13... BEST KARAOKE NIGHT EVER? Yes, i think so. I came here by chance a few Mondays ago with my boyfriend and a couple friends. We had just gone on a wholesome double date to the pool nearby and figured we'd share some pub grub and grab a drink together for dinner. You know, just a chill, dignified time where we could speak without slurring and not dance on chairs. Oh how wrong we were. We sat in our booth, checked out the menus and noticed something written on their weekly schedule: 'MONDAYS: Karaoke.' Suddenly we all felt a lot thirstier and had evil glints in our eyes. The drink special was pretty good. A little bottle Red Stripe was $3.50, so we figured we'd get drunk for a respectable price. That also flew out the window. My boyfriend and the other gentleman in our double date group had just gotten back from Europe where they tried Irish Car Bombs for the first time (they also informed us that in Ireland, they're just called Car Bombs. The more you know!) and they insisted we all do a round. Oddly enough, Irish Car Bombs are not on the menu here... Guinness only comes in cans, and they don't have a setting in their system to mix shots... Luckily our fantastic waitress was able to split a can of Guinness between the three of us and just rang in the shots as though we got two shots of Whiskey and two shots of Baileys. It was thanks to her ingenuity that we got so drunk!! The karaoke was AWESOME. The selection is really huge, but the only thing is that their song catalogue is online, so if no one in your party has a phone that can access the net you'll have to harass the karaoke MC about whether he has a song or not. The mic was busy all night, but everyone in the room got to sing a few times, which was great. I hate when you go to a karaoke night that's so packed you don't get a chance to sing! Thanks to them having wireless microphones, my boyfriend was able to do a really spirited version of Turn Me Loose that included running across the bar to our table, jumping on the bench and dancing. There is also a mic stand if you're too lazy to hold the mike, and while i didn't use it, my bf did quite a few kicks and dance moves with it. When people can do things like this without being escorted off of the premises it makes me really, really happy. As an added bonus (humiliation?), if you want them to, they will upload a video of you singing to youtube so you can relive those happy memories (or you know, be reminded of them the next day if you're blackout drunk)... So on a related note, if you want to see two heavy metal dudes doing a duet to Don't You Want Me, all you gotta do is youtube that song title with 'Justin and Shane.' Worst service ever- extremely rude servers. I have had 3 visits: 1. First time there, ordered the 'spicy pepper burger' which was supposed to have hot peppers in the patty. There was absolutely no spice whatsoever, so I assumed they mistakenly made me a regular burger. I told the waitress that I didn't think it was the right burger and she simply replied 'yes it is!' She just argued with me and repeatedly told me I was wrong. She never offered to bring me something else or even a side of hot sauce which I eventually asked for. When she came back she told me that she checked with the cook and he confirmed he used the spicy pepper patty, like that was in any way helpful. I had wanted something spicy and left disappointed. 2. Day after Halloween. Servers were visibly hungover and fighting with each other in front of customers. Took over an hour to get a simple breakfast order. 3. Grew up in this neighborhood, so I've been coming here pretty much since I was of age. The decor has definitely improved, as well as the food. It is what it is folks - a neighbourhood "beer parlor" - don't expect too much more than a good time and a relaxed atmosphere and you'll enjoy the visit. Appies are half price any night any Vancouver sports team is playing - take advantage of this as regular prices are very steep. Don't order anything too "complex" in the way of mixed drinks - the bartenders repertoire is limited. Breakfast is pretty good and fairly priced - I'd recommend the BC Benny (bacon and aged cheddar). When you walk it, it seems like it's going to be a bit stuffy in there, but surprisingly it's not. They used to serve Anducci's food there... but from what I heard they don't anymore. No service at all, although the place was almost empty, until finally a server came by with menus and said Happy Hour 1/2 prices were over in 5 minutes so order quickly. We did !!
