I'm having something of a heartbroken reaction to the fact that this lovely B&B gutted its historic charm and replaced it with a modern coastal theme that is not at all timeless and too eclectic and funky for most tastes. My husband and I honeymooned here back in 2011 and I had been hoping ever since to return to the beautiful blue Jefferson Room for our 10th anniversary, so we could relive all the joy and nostalgia of that wonderful experience, but I came to the website today to find the place had been stripped of all the antique, old world charm that first drew us there and made me love it. Not sure what to do with my 10 year anniversary plans now, because returning here after it's been so dramatically and disappointingly altered will only make me sad about that lost experience. :( I wish you had kept the traditional decor and preserved the historical integrity of this beautiful place. I think that aesthetic is what draws people to a Newport vacation in the first place, and now I'm deeply saddened that our wonderful visit there can't be remotely recreated. It was a perfect B&B experience in every other way, so this feels like such an unfortunate deal breaker and a truly unexpected disappointment.

Wonderful, friendly and cheerful atmosphere. Cindy was very hospitable and approachable. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the Compass room which was brightly decorated, spacious and warm. Loved the hairbrush art on the wall! No boisterous, outdated wallpaper. They are pet and child friendly - we left our furry friends and kiddos home for this visit though. It was about a 20 minute walk to Thames St. They are renovating to have additional space available in the future.

We've been to quite a few B&Bs and we loved the hospitality, cleanliness & location of this place!…read moreLoved that they allowed guests to store some leftovers in the fridge upstairs with a microwave to heat it up later. Always fresh water available with coffee, tea, hot chocolate & some biscotti. The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

Upstairs is fantastic with a view of the water. Breakfast the final +++++ The church bells ring on the hour, slightly off key. More charming than annoying.

I quite literally found Chart House by google mapping the area and searching 'hotels' to scan prices. I saw Chart House, looked at the website kind of briefly and booked it. When I tell you I was FLOORED at how gorgeous the property and room were. The building itself is beautiful and historic feeling. We had a parking spot that came in clutch as a boat show was going on. We stayed in the Jane Pickens suite. It is massive, has it's own sunroom, a huge bathroom area with a rainfall shower set up. It was so comfortable it made it hard to leave the room to go do things around town. Not to mention we had a complimentary breakfast everyday, and this is not a holiday inn style buffet, it was made to order absolutely delicious breakfast. Aside from the property itself, it is within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do. 5 mins to Bowen's Warf, just a few blocks from Thames St. We even walked the 15/20 mins to Easton Beach and the start of the Cliff Walk (but ubered back at the end bc we were wiped from the walk itself). Our host Nicole was so accommodating and sweet. I have not been able to stop talking about the Chart House Inn to everyone who has asked about our trip. I cannot wait to come back and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else on our next visit.
