First, this lounge is small. I was here during off peak time of the day. I had no issues finding a spot. The staff were super nice and friendly. The food was actually really good. This lounge was a major disappointment. It's supposed to be a nice relaxing place to enjoy your time before your flight. This place is incredibly small, staff was not entirely friendly. The food they offer was not impressive or of great quality. Biggest downside was the amount of children in the small space who were just left to run wild. I was hit with nerf weapon and bumped into several times (while sitting in a chair not moving). Was a let down for my first experience in an admirals club. 5-21-2023 - We had about 4 hours to wait for our next flight so this was to be my refuge. $59 day pass (per person) for a broken elevator. Bombarded with questions while still out of breath from climbing the stairs with luggage. Sales push to sign up for the annual pass. Finally got past the entrance and this club is small, with limited food/snack options, alcohol, beer and wine are included (but not top shelf). There is a water and tea station for self serve however no fountain for self serve sodas and no Diet Dr Pepper. Order at the bar. Coke Zero offered but the Diet Coke w/lime was my preference. Single restrooms located by the entrance. The day I visited mac and cheese was the main event with optional toppings of bacon & breadcrumbs. Salad, two soup options, fresh fruit, veggies, pita bread, hummus and some dessert options. Gloves were available to use while serving yourself. The first bartender was not very friendly or approachable but her replacement was the total opposite extremely friendly, happy and helpful. Our used glasses and plates were cleared away quickly. Maybe 3 business center stations. Plenty of comfy chairs and tables for relaxing. The place was empty when we arrived but it did fill up quickly. read more

I'm used to checking out one of the LAX lounges before a flight and this was my first time at John Wayne this weekend. I had a little trouble finding the lounge, but eventually found it after some help from my Map app. It is located above Ruby's. You take the elevator behind the restaurant, to the left of the hostess stand. Staff were friendly and welcoming like all of the locations I've visited. It is a smaller lounge compared to the ones I've been in at LAX and CLT - it's only a negative if you're flying on a busy day or at a busy period. Some people struggled to find seats in the lounge on Friday around 10-11 AM, but I was fortunate to find a single seat to sit and enjoy some downtime. Food for the morning was scrambled eggs, various bread items, and oatmeal, along with some yogurts and juices. You can order something off the menu if you prefer. If you're traveling with a fairly big group or family, this might be a little small for you and your group to enjoy. But I think it's a good space for those traveling alone or in smaller groups. (Easier to find seats together, quiet space, etc.) I do think their announcement system microphone is broken/needs repairs because it was quite muffled when they made announcements about a flight that was delayed from JFK and it would often skip words. I fly through John Wayne airport a few times a year and am always glad that the admirals club is in the airport. The admirals club is on the second floor and you need to access it through stairs or elevator. it seems that the elevator is always having issues so you are carrying your bags up to the lounge. The club is relatively small but comfortable. There is plenty of seating and the people working are very pleasant and helpful. Wi-Fi is good and they have plenty of outlets available. read more

Bartender was really nice and so were the two gals upon entry. Space is small but very comfy and close to our gate. This is a smaller and more dated appearing Admirals Clubs. The location is one floor above the gate concourse area near gates 7 and 8. It has numerous glass walls which give a great view outside and to the concourse below, and this helps to give it a more open and airy feeling despite it being fairly small. It has an "L" shape with the bar and seating areas extending along one side and three computer workstation areas (only two have installed computers) in the business center area. This was my first time trying the business center at any Admirals Club locations today, and it actually worked fairly well. You can print from your phone, tablet, or computer fairly easily by forwarding emails and attachments to the printer's email address. Scanning worked OK as well, but you seem to need a USB drive to save the scanned documents onto. Food and beverage offerings are standard Admirals Club fare. I didn't see the fresh guacamole offered at this location. There is also no self-service Coca-Cola freestyle machine, so you have to get soft drinks from the bar. They did have a self-service coffee machine, though. Bathrooms are extremely tiny. The furniture definitely has seen better days. Overall this club feels like it could use a little sprucing up, but it gets the job done. read more

This is one of the smaller AA clubs I've seen but it's still very nice. They have plenty of plug outlets near every chair. The place is almost fully windows so it's bright inside. The bar staff was very friendly and came over to refill or replace our drinks without even having to be asked. If you're hungry they have a few snack items that are complimentary (carrots, soup, cheese, olives, cookies) or you can order something for purchase off the menu. The American Airlines Admirals Club at John Wayne Orange County Airport is located in terminal A near gate 8. Open to Admiral Club card holders and those wishing to pay the $50 entrance fee, the Admiral Club is small but offers a quiet place to relax and be productive before your flight. You do not need to fly American Airlines to use this lounge. There are only two lounges at John Wayne Airport. The other lounge is the United Club located near gate 9. They are both about the same size and offer the same type of snacks and amenities. The mezzanine style lounge is one single room located on the second floor. There is no separate area for first class passengers or those holding oneworld elite status. The lounge is more traditionally decorated, has plenty of natural light and a decent amount of seating and work areas for you to spread out. The lounge looks down at the gates below and there are also views of the two runways. There are several electrical outlets located throughout the lounge to keep your devices powered and WiFi is provided complimentary. There's a single snack station with a small offering of fruit, crackers, cookies and a coffee/cappuccino machine. The bar offers a basic selection of complimentary house drinks, beers, sodas and (tap) water. Other items such as hot soup, chips, premium alcoholic drinks and bottled water can be purchased from the bar for a fee. There are no showers facilities available and they do not make any boarding or flight announcements inside the club. However, you can hear the gate and boarding announcements from the individual gates below. There are two flight information boards, televisions and bathrooms located inside the lounge. Other amenities include printers, a copy machine, newspaper and magazines for you to browse (but not take from the lounge). The lounge was kept clean and there were employees constantly cleaning, bussing dishes and refilling the snack counter. Overall, this lounge is decent but it's a smaller lounge located in a smaller airport. Even though it was on the smaller side, it was not crowded at all and it allowed me to get some work done before my flight. On this trip, I was flying Alaska Airlines to Seattle and used my Admiral Club membership to gain entry. I only used the lounge because I had free access and I don't think I would pay $50 to use it for the day. read more

I panned the AA club in Atlanta but I do like coming to this one. First of all, the people- ie the AA staff are truly remarkable. They remember me by name when I enter (2-3x per month). They hit the right note between humanity, compassion (when there is a flight issue) and professionalism. Today I was super impressed when the agent called me on the plane to let me know that she had rebooked me and emailed me a hotel voucher. That impressed me. Now if American could just get their ground crew working as well and not have so many delayed flights for maintenance they could win me over from Delta. The club is small but quite nice. The food is typical, best brownies, and some fresh selections. read more

SNA is small, so don't expect it to be like LAX/ORD's Flagship. Still, if you have Admiral's Club access, why wouldn't you use it for a comfortable place to sit and to have a drink or two with the snacks! After all, your membership is paid for, right? OTOH, if you are spending money for a day pass, unless you have hours of free time, or need to take that critical business call, save yourself the money and just hang out in the terminal. The exception to this would be if you have Amex PC and have AA as your preferred carrier for airline incidentals. In which case, your day-pass charge would be mitigated with a credit up to $200. read more

AA's cutting back on quality of fare at the clubs to an absolute minimum makes regret signing up for the expensive credit card required to get in here. Come to this admirals club very often and it's on the smaller side so can be a bit difficult to get a seat sometimes during rush hour but otherwise clean and comfortable and the staff behind the bar and reception are very nice, helpful and friendly. And they have quite decent free snacks, not tried the food for purchase. Only bad aspect is the elevator to get up to the club doesn't have air conditioning so in summer it can be uncomfortably hot but you're not in it long. read more

Wow, all the bad reviews sound like spoiled children. Slightly noisy, people eating in plain sight, seeing a plunger in a bathroom (unheard of!). Are you people serious with yourselves? Finding yelp is gradually filling with prissy chumps. Anyhow... Some of the friendliest staff i have ever dealt with. Loraine at the desk is amazing, extremely helpful to the point where when our flight was delayed she spent a bit of time without our knowledge looking up other options for us. Great to talk to and very nice. Tess at the bar has the bloody Mary DOWN. I'd put it top 3 on my list and trust me, Im no stranger to a bloody. Super nice and (unlike how some yelp whiners have complained) was on top of everything. Replenishing treats at the snack area, quick to make a great drink, etc etc. Sure the place is small but the service and attentiveness is not. Will absolutely be hitting this one again in the future. The SNA Admirals Club is one of their smaller clubs but I love the location of the terminal with glass walls on both side of the L shaped lounge. Bright, open and airy during the day. but unfortunately the furniture is outdated and old giving the feeling of a doctors waiting room. Due to its size the lounge fills up quickly. The food offering & presentation was also mediocre however the coffee was fantastic and I love that AA Lounges offer soy & almond milk! I never use the computer/printers in Lounges but today I needed to print a document last minute for a meeting I was flying to and the printer wasn't working. :( read more

I've been coming here for the last 10 years or so.. To preface, SNA is my favorite airport.. Granted it's my home airport, I avoid LAX like the plague unless I need to fly international. Yes, this is a smaller Admirals Club.. It's expected because it's a smaller airport. It opened when there was only 2 terminals (now there are 3). That coupled with the fact that AA reduced their number of destinations from SNA (Previous destinations included LAX, SJC, JFK, STL on top of the remaining destinations of DFW and ORD). Standard Admirals Club offerings, complimentary well drinks, domestic beer, snack foods.. You pay for brand name drinks and meals.. Men's room is 1 stall and 1 urinal. They have the typical coffee machine. What makes this club standout? The staff.. The staff is great!! Always friendly and accommodating. Oh, please note that this is primarily an "departures" lounge.. They close at 6:45PM, so if you want to drop by once you land, it may be closed. read more

This is a standard low volume Admiral's Club. Not much to speak about at all. This is a very bare bones airport lounge. Having said that, it is pretty much par for the course with American. Since the merger with US Air the overall customer experience has declined. While the Admiral's Clubs were never a strength for American, it is disappointing that they have not improved at all. Standard fare ... Breakfast snacks and coffee. Additionally, they do have wireless, but that is standard everywhere at the airport. I would actually rather go to Starbuck's. read more

Very small; basic amenities and the staff working here don't appear to care about the environment (tables need cleaning and cups, plates, glasses picking up). A couple walked in a few minutes ago and proceeded to spread their burgers, fries and other delicacies from Rubies across a large table and chow down on their picnic. Not a great smell at 10:30 on A Sunday morning. The staff didn't care one bit - too busy chatting at the front desk. I'll be steering clear of this Admirals club in the future. Very nice little Admirals Club (AC). ALL of the staff are friendly professional and efficient. Tess makes a fantastic Bloody Mary, by the way! Giving only two stars has nothing to do with the staff as they are TOP NOTCH! It's also a very well maintained and clean AC. Now the downside, my main complaint with this club, IMHO, is the design and layout of the airport as it relates to the AC. The airport has a soaring barrel ceiling, unfortunately the AC has glass windows looking out over the inside of the airport. What does this mean? The AC glass windows do not go all the way up to the ceiling to block the noise from below in the boarding areas. You can constantly hear the gate agents announcing arriving and departing flights, loudly calling out "last call" for passengers departing and most annoying is the SNA airport PA system continuously announcing "Welcome to John Wayne Airport, in order to enhance your safety and security".......it goes on about keeping your luggage close at hand etc. One of the main attractions to me in the ACs is that it's quiet and SNA is just not a quiet AC. The United Club next door is the same way. Just my two cents. read more
