We've used Admiralty Chimney 3 times over the last 7-8 years and each time I've been newly struck by how downright honest they are. The first time we'd experienced a sort of chimney fire and did need work done but they said, "the good news is, it isn't what you'd feared. The bad news is whoever installed your liner... " (long irrelevant story). But the fix was much less expensive than we'd been afraid it would, and they could have soaked us, and didn't. The two other times they came, "Nothing needed, you're good to go." Again they could have made something up and we'd have never known. Bottom line is, they have enough business not to play games on you, but I think that it's really the other way around -- they don't play games on people, therefore they have a good business. AND they're reasonably priced. It's the old fashioned way of doing business. Otherwise, owner (John) is a very nice guy, intelligent, good sense of humor and he's on top of things. Their inside person (Susan) is also really sharp, and this time we had to ask her to juggle a tad, and she did. One piece of advice: Once winter is over, DO get any maintenance appt. reserved right then, don't wait until late summer or Fall to schedule it or you could have a wait time, just saying. (I'm sure emergencies would be a different story, ours, that first time, got taken care of fast.) This is the worst company i have ever experienced. I have had problems with my chimney/roof for years. These guys sold me so much crap i dont need. When they first came out i loved them, guys were great, were at my house all day...well they are no longer with the company probably for screwing customers. Also, flash forward over a year later i had another chimney/roofing company come out today and they could not believe all the stuff they sold me and what i paid. I was charged nearly 3000 and they completely did everything they did over for 750. If a manager or employee sees this message, they will say they will try to reach out to me or make things better and they stand behind their work or some bullcrap but i have called so many times and have had them come out so many times and the problem has never been fixed. I then went on Home Advisor and found 2 companies to come out and look into the issue. The owner even came out who i honestly think was a jerk, he was sarcastic, not helpful, came when i wasnt home and didnt tell me he was coming in the first place. So unprofessional and i never heard from them again after that. I spent so much money with this crappy company, the problem isnt fixed years later and now i have had to spend more time finding another company and more money to fix the issue that should have been done years ago. Bought our house in 2013, after just moving here, Merrimack, NH, from Ohio. We knew the chimney needed work when we had the house inspected, and called Admiralty based on high recommendations. They did a superb cleaning job and advised us without any pressure of the one of three collapsed flues and the need to repair the crown and some brick work. When I thought we could then proceed, they came out and did a superb job of putting a stainless steel cover over the 3 flues thereby ensuring no critters would get in there and crown coated it, thereby protecting the crown for this current winter. They promised to return in April to complete the job and insisted we not worry about paying until completed. We did put a modest down payment on the work, but it was well worth it. This is a company of professionals, highly skilled, well equipped and such integrity that is unfortunately not found much anymore. John from Admiralty inspected our chimney and found that the ceramic tiles lining it were cracked and badly damaged, potentially allowing boiler exhaust fumes to enter our living space. He explained that a stainless steel chimney liner would fix the problem in addition to making our new steam boiler run more efficiently. He was highly professional and intelligent, taking the time to answer my questions without any sales bluster. Justin and the assistant that came with him to install our liner arrived on time, were pleasant and informative to talk to, and performed the job expertly. They also went the extra mile, replacing a few sections of my boiler exhaust/flue that were showing their age and reducing the resistance by tidying up the elbows. I added a fireplace insert to turn my fireplace into a wood stove 12 years ago. The installation was done by a company in Milford - it never drafted properly and we would have a smokey house every time we added wood to the fire. When we called Admiralty to clean the stove last summer, they discovered the liner was never fastened to the stove - not a rivet, not a steel band, no evidence anything was ever there. The creosote behind the stove and on the outside of the liner was unbelievable. I had Admiralty replace the liner and clean the stove. They were very professional, very polite and priced fairly. After a winter of constant use, I can say I would never trust anyone but Admiralty with my wood stove. It runs as it was designed to and I no longer have to race to my smoke alarms every time I add wood! read more

These people were committed to satisfying my needs, cleaning a fireplace and lining my chimney. The owner John, came to my home to access the situation. He quoted a price for a new flue damper which I thought was missing. Upon cleaning the fireplace and further inspection, he realized the old damper was there. He greased and worked the heck out of the damper handle to get it to open and close. He got it to work. Because of this, he deleted $500. from his original estimate. I mean, who does that? After I accepted the reasonable estimate that I received online, John and his helper came to do the work. They were professional, quick, did what they said they were going to do, and cleaned up after themselves. They were very pleasant individuals. Awesome folks. I'm a repeat annual customer for years. Very professional. When it says that John B "is a conscientious man of integrity with high ethical standards" believe it from me. Same is true of Justin. I started doing business with the Admiral, and have not had anyone else come since. Back then, they found some cracks in the main woodstove flue, advised a SS sleeve which I had them put in. Never had a problem since due to the outstanding job professionally performed. I built the house and it's chimneys and won't trust anyone else with them. Needed a new liner and a total rebuild of the oil burner chimney outside the roof line. Admiralty came quickly for an inspection. They estimated the cost, discussed options, and jumped on the work required since the weather was closing in for the winter and the problems were serious enough to warrant necessary work be done immediately. The estimate was detailed, cost effective and most importantly-let nothing out. The crew was professional and knew what they were doing from the start. The work looks great and the cleanup was excellent. I have other work needed on my wood burning fireplace chimney which I will definitely have Admiralty do in the Spring. I am a repeat customer at Admiralty Chimney and I was once again very pleased with their chimney cleaning service this year. I scheduled the appointment during my lunch break. They gave me a one hour window and I asked if they could call me when they were 15 minutes out so I could avoid missing as much work as possible. They agreed and followed through, which was very helpful. The two men that performed the cleaning were polite, efficient and knowledgeable. They informed me of some additional maintenance my chimney may need in the spring but I didn't feel at all pressured to schedule or purchase anything additional at that time. John Butler has taken care of my chimney for many years. Several years ago I switched a fire place to a wood stove; he did a great job installing all the components and giving tips on wood stove use. He has fixed minor chimney problems. And, most of all, he has consistently given great service: his office returns calls quickly; they schedule accurately; and they take great care when cleaning the chimney that ash does not become a problem. And if something comes up, they go above and beyond to make sure I am happy. The place looks good when they leave. And I must add that John is very personable: I look forward to his annual visit. Excellent service from beginning to end. Called and a real person answered the phone and set up an appointment for a chimney cleaning. Two very polite and knowledgeable young men showed up on time and did an inspection. They told me I really didn't need a full cleaning as my chimney has not been used much at all - how honest! How much do we see that these days!! I appreciated that vs. having them do work I didn't need. They did an inspection and cleaned my fireplace!! I had to call them this morning to let them know that I may be a few minutes late because of a last minute doctors appointment and the office staff was very helpful and friendly. She left them a message which was conveyed to them promptly. I made it on time and they were on time as well! John came to the house, assessed what was needed and explained the restoration process to us. An estimate was promptly sent via email. The guys showed up on time and started working immediately. I originally was having some bricks replaced, water sealing and repointing, but they found that the crown was cracked and had been improperly installed by the previous chimney company. They didn't have the necessary material to repair it but made a quick trip to their shop for what was needed to fix it. They had to let the new crown harden overnight and returned the next morning to reinstall the cap. Very pleased and impressed with their professional and friendly service. read more

Technicians Jason and Filipe installed our chimney liner and cap in only about 2 hours, to include a thorough cleanup. And this is in a not so run-of-the-mill home (an 1857 Mansard colonial) with a long chimney and dangerously steep slopes. He charged me $85 for the inspection which I was so happy to pay and I'll be glad to recommend him to anyone who asks :) read more

Great local company. Had them clean my chimney in July 2019. Not only did they clean it, but they also raised my cap a tad to improve prevent a backflow of smoke that I was having difficulty with. I felt the price was very reasonable and they were accommodating to schedule. I will definitely be hiring them again for years to come. read more
