I need to go back to the dentist really bad but a voice kept telling me find another. For kicks I went to search Dr. Obradovic's reviews to see if anyone had a similar experience to mine. Her reviews are full of people saying the same thing, her office is high pressure sales and expensive. I have never felt so pressured! I had a crown put on and silver fillings taken out. We paid enough for a small new car. They said I needed deep cleanings on both sides for $700. A night guard for $800 the costs never ended. I felt at the time these costs were too high. I didn't like feeling so pressured so I left after the work. The teeth that she worked on hurt and while they were working on my teeth she nicked my front tooth with a grinding tool and now I have sensitivity on that front tooth. Who cares for the patients after things are screwed up. I can't ever get that piece of my tooth put back on. The Dr. was really nice too bad her practices are all for money. I just think they need to change the high pressure sales and be more honest about pricing. read more

BEWARE. I wrote a glowing review 2 years ago. However it was after 1st visit and it was about girls giving shots. That was all true. I was talked into signing away $20,000. Several reviewers mention a man in financing. He is her brother and is a hell of a salesman. I had 12 teeth extracted, full denture on top and partial bottom. My gums have hurt me every day. They are cut and bleeding. I ended up filing for bankruptcy and my partial is sitting in a jar in the bathroom. Horrible experience!! I don't know why yelp says i'm in san francisco. I could tell just from my initial phone call that this was not the place for me. The receptionist was VERY pushy trying to get me in today. I told her I would need some time and the latest apt possible so she offered me a Monday or Tuesday. Just then I had a knock on the door and told her that I would need to call right back and she said "are you sure you don't want to just reserve a time???". With my dogs barking and people at my door I said "you know what, never mind"... She then called back and playing the... I think we got disconnected game. I let her know that based off this annoying exchange I wouldn't be making an appointment, and would be leaving a review. WARNING: Beware Elderly people. My father went in for dental work and had a few $100.00 of work done. After the visit they came out with a $3000 estimate for more. He let them know he was going to get a second opinion. Month later, he looked at his credit card statement they charged him for this dental work that they never did. He called them back and let them know they made a mistake. They tried to convince him he signed a contract. And had to pay for that work, that was not done. I went in for the new patient special, from a postcard I rec'd. I felt like I was trapped in a Time Share presentation. They showed me a couple of videos, examined my teeth and discovered severe periodontal problems that were risking my health. I set up an appointment for the next day and gave them my insurance and credit card information. The next morning I decided to get a second opinion and called and canceled the appointment then went to another dentist for a consult. When I stopped back at Adriatic to give them a check for the "Special" they had already billed my insurance and credit card for over $6000, for work they had not even done. I will be getting my dental work elsewhere and checking with my Insurance and credit card to be sure I get refunded. The staff are very nice, but extremely AGGRESSIVE. read more

When I called to cancel my appointment at the la jolla office and mentioned these yelp reviews, the woman panicked and tried to get me to keep the appointment and come back in. After ending the call, their san marcos location called me! Cleary desperate to salvage the appointment. The man on the phone tries to convince me that the reviews werent true and they were an honest business. Stay away! These people are criminals. I went to this office back in October in response to a coupon that I received in the mail. I was just going in for a cleaning and check-up. I hadn't been to a dentist in a few years so I found it believable when they told me that I had gum disease. Initially they quoted me $6,300!!! This included laser treatment, antibiotics and all that jazz. They brought me into this private room to discuss my credit and payment options. It felt like I was buying a car. They really use high-pressure tactics to sell their B.S. They managed to talk me into a deep-cleaning, which ended up costing me nearly $1,600. I spent 4 hours in their office that day and I still had to come back to complete the deep cleaning. Well, immediately following the completion of the deep cleaning at Adriatic Dental I sought out a second opinion from another dentist to find out if I really needed laser surgery. I found out that I didn't have gum disease AT ALL!!! I had been completely lied to and ripped off by Adriatic Dental. I then received a third opinion from a gum specialist who also told me that my teeth and gums were very healthy. These people clearly make their money by preying on innocent people and selling them services that they do not need, so please find yourself another dentist! read more

The worst and most painful experience of my life!!! I hadn't been to the dentist in many years so I stupidly believed them when they told me all the work that needed to be done (nearly $7500!!!). They had me in the dentist chair for 7 HOURS!!! And drilled out two of my upper teeth (one on each side so i couldn't eat solid food for two weeks...) and put on temporary crowns. After the 7 hours they told me that the hygenist was NOW going to do the deep cleaning (my first red flag). I have VERY cold sensitive teeth but the water they used was refridgerated!!! I was in pure agony for an hour (my second red flag). then before the hygenist was finished she ACCIDENTALLY ripped out my temporary crown!!!! That was the last straw. I had to wait three weeks to get the permanent crowns, then told them that after those they would not be touching my mouth again. Unfortunately I still owe them the reduced price (since I refused to let them finish) of $4500... Never go here, you'd have better luck in the dark ages dentistry... read more

I had the same experience as Lisel above. After having one cavity my entire life, I was floored when the hygenist and doctor spent several hours telling me what terrible shape my teeth and gums were in. I really just wanted the cleaning, but they wouldn't give it to me, claiming that I need some special deep cleaning. The groupon was for whitening, cleaning and xrays. What I got was a complete waste of time, the urge to cry and an appointment with my real dentist to make sure that everything was ok. Thank you groupon for refunding my money after that! read more

I went to Adriatic for extreme pain from an old root canal and requested a new retainer from one that I have had for years. They charged me $7,000 on Care Credit AND did not resolve either problem. I went to three other dentists before I found one who pulled the tooth and wrote me a letter saying that the bone was so infected from that tooth that he had to remove bone. I am much better, but don't ever want a root canal or to go to Adriatic. Beware, they also told me that my gums and teeth were terrible and I needed expensive cleaning, etc. read more

I went there recently and was told I needed $12,000 worth of dental work. Gum disease. I had a "free" evaluation that cost me $800. They work you real good. They start the procedure, then tell you to come back for the completion. Of course, the first part needs to be paid now, and they say the first part won't be any good if you don't get the second part done. I was initialing a "contract" that was suppose to commit me to the procedure, like when you buy a car. Then they hook you up with the finance lady, who grinds you almost into submission. During all this selling, everyone is totally friendly and you really don't realize you're wallet is getting light. So my new dentist says I need cleaning every 6 months. They took her for over $16,000 by having her open a line of credit. They never finished her work and then turned around and said that my 90 year old grandmother knew every charge when she did not. Went there a while ago to inquire about laser surgery. She had given me such a high estimate and was very pushy, as if she was the only dentist who offered laser. I found two others in San Diego county that did laser and chose Dr. Fremont in Pacific Beach. A fraction of the cost of what Adriatic quoted me. Dr. Fremont was voted "Top Doc" by San Diego several years in a row. It was well worth the drive going to him. I would get phone calls and mail from Adriatic for months after even though I told them I would NOT be back. Please, check around unless you have money to burn. read more

If you enjoy used car salesmen and shady time share pitches then this is your dental office. I just moved to the area and needed to have a routine one month follow-up for a gum surgery that was performed in my home state. BEFORE seeing Dr. Obradovic (or anyone seeing ANY imaging), I was told by an assistant then a hygienist that my gums would need comprehensive gum treatment. After a ONE HOUR wait, the doctor peeked in my mouth and proclaimed that my gums looked healthy, but indeed, they would require full laser treatment (LANAP), AND the surgery I had previously would most likely need repeating. Then she piled on to the dire situation of my gums by asserting that nothing would ever work permanently until I corrected my bite (which, I'm assuming would require major orthodontic work that she would benevolently administer). I was in such a panic leaving this office that I put in a call to my periodontist in Oregon and asked him why he did not alert me to any of these apparently glaringly obvious and serious problems. First he allayed my fear of repeating the painful and expensive procedure that had just been performed. Of course one doctor will not outright trash another, but he did assert that he stood by his assessment of my gums and did not think that over a month's time that the situation in my mouth could have declined so dramatically. I am convinced that Dr. Obradovic over-sells what her patients truly need fueled by an overzealous philosophy, or worse, to bilk folk for her personal gain. Either way, get a second opinion by a credible practitioner before signing on to a major overhaul at Adriatic Dental. I had the worst experience getting a cleaning here, and I've never been back since. The dental hygienist told me that because I don't floss my teeth I'm making her job "so difficult." She also said if I'm an aspiring makeup artist I better get my teeth fixed. That made me feel so uncomfortable, and I felt like that was really unprofessional. BE WARNED: DON'T BUY THEIR SNAKE OIL!!! This is the second time this doctor tried to sell me some scam: At first I was impressed when I took my children there for their dental needs, but then they convinced me in taking some weird skin test to determine my vitamin levels and then tried to sell me some totally overpriced vitamin pills (I havn't seen the machine in the office recently anymore...). At the last visit when we took the kids to get a teeth cleaning and some advice if my daughter may need a brace in the future (she is 7) the doctor started to recommend this 'great new approach' (which only would cost us $8,000!), called 'DNA appliance' and went on with some gibberish about 'epigenetic orthodontics' and how it would change her genes and improve the immune system of the child. Now it happens that I am a scientist who is a geneticist (with a PhD) and works in the field of epigenetics and genomics. I could not believe the utter nonsense I was hearing and the utmost ignorance of any scientific background of the doctor who tried to sell us this stuff. A few probing questions and a look into Medline and Dr. Singh's website made clear that this story about 'epigenetic orthodontics' is pure fiction. If it were not so serious that this is a shrewd way of trying to rip off people I could laugh at this nonsense. There is NO scientific basis WHATSOEVER in the claims Dr. Singh et al. are making. I am appalled and angry by their attempt of a clear money making scheme and that some non-scientist individuals will be ripped of to buying something at a premium that has been around for ages (namely temporary braces) and will be impressed by this pseudo-scientific nonsense!! Went her about 2yrs ago for a consultation of my wisdom teeth. The X-rays clearly showed that my teeth were impacted by my wisdom teeth that were growing in sideways. I was seen by 3 different dentists at the San Marcos location which took hours, and they all had different opinions on what needed to be done. Finally, they told me I needed a special cleaning that would cost a few thousand dollars to get rid of the pain I was having. They wanted me to call my mom (who lives in Europe) to wire me the money so I could get it done ASAP. They clearly misdiagnosed me in an attempt for me to spend money on a treatment I did not need. This was a couple years ago, and they continuously send me mail, phone calls, and even iMessages from private cell phone numbers... I do not recommend this place. read more

I was very impressed with the friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere at Adriatic Dental. My initial consultation was very informative. Janet, the hygienist even made me laugh a few times, which is not how I usually feel in the dental chair. The staff works as a team to make sure you are not waiting from one process to the next. During my consultation they explained my x-rays and the laser treatment. I did my research before the appointment since I knew my insurance may not cover the entire procedure. I must say, the price was surprisingly fair. On the day of my appointment, Janet gave me a wealth of information about the procedure and home care. Everything she explained made sense because she gave history and examples. Janet is just naturally friendly, knowledgeable and has a passion for helping solve dental problems without surgery. Beware of Sales Tactics. I have won a free teeth whitening from a radio station in San Diego from this dental clinic last year. I went there to claim my price. They showed me some videos then suggest that I needed to do a deep cleaning. Well the ladies were nice and after seeing the video and after driving to San Marcos from National City, I felt compelled to agree to the deep cleaning. They don't accept my insurance through safeguard so I signed up for their financing. The cost is $1,300 that includes multiple visits and the special toothbrush that they said I can only get from them. Long story short. Their laser tooth whitening did not do anything to my teeth so they provided me with tray to continue the bleaching at home. I went to their regular scheduled cleaning 3 times for the last year but in between I am also going to my regular dentist for cleaning who told me that my gums and teeth are healthy and that I don't need any deep cleaning. I was so mad at myself that I became a victim to the snake oil salesman tactic of the adriatic dental. Last month I got another call from Adriatic dental. The lady said that they would like to take a last look on my gum problem and give me a free cleaning. I think to myself, well I should get that free cleaning at least to recover some of the money I paid. When I get there, they cleaned my teeth then showed me some pictures of my tooth saying that I will have to do a root canal and also fill some holes on my molars which I declined this time. Yesterday, I got a letter from them with a bill of $130.00 for cleaning which they say was free that is why I go there. Since I did not signed up for the new procedures that they are recommending they are now charging me for cleaning? This is a complete rip-off. Beware of the fake smiles that give to you. read more

I cannot recommend this dentist. At every visit they were trying to sell some expensive mumbo jumbo treatment which, after some research, turned out to be a complete ripoff. The fads that they tried to sell me were "biophotonic scanning for antioxidants", "epigenetic orthodontics (DNA appliance)" and an electric toothbrush with a ridiculous price tag. The office is disorganized with people running around like headless chicken. One can never tell if the person looking at your teeth is an assistant or a dentist or just someone they hired at the street corner. There is high turnover of employees. If they were confused about the record in the file, they went ahead and did another few X-rays. And they were confused often. The only constant is the lady in the side office who will calculate a cost estimate for the next proposed ripoff treatment. read more

I called and scheduled a consultation for a Monday afternoon during my 1 hour lunch and was told that it wouldn't be a wait if I brought in my paperwork already filled out so I had the office email them to me before hand to make the check in smooth. The ladies in the reception area were friendly and polite. After checking in I waited for about 30-40 min and was moved from one room to the next. I was then seated in a room with hygienist Janet and another young lady who were going to examine my gums and take pictures. The next 30 minutes were horrible. Janet made remarks at her assistant questioning her speed. Janet was not gentle in any shape or form with my gums and I understand my gums will bleed but the bleeding was definitely excessive due to her negligence in being gentle. When she asked me questions regarding my history I mentioned my mom also had periodontal and her reply right away is "It's not hereditary, there is no such thing!" She was very pushy and made me uncomfortable from the minute I met her. Prior to being seated I recall seeing her in the back and telling a customer "Why didn't you book your appointment with me?? You know I can only clean them good enough" How is that professional? When I finally saw Dr. Valentina it was for a very short 10 minutes at the most. She was also very pushy and claimed I needed to start immediately on treatment and she hadn't even given me an estimate. I spent 2 hours in that office and lost 1 hour of work. It was a complete waste of time. I later emailed them twice asking for the estimate but was just ignored. I've received numerous calls from a man in their financing department telling me I must make an appointment just to go over my estimate. I've received newsletters in the mail from them as well as emails and yet they can't email me a copy of my estimate??? Do not waste your time here as this place is a joke. read more

I felt obligated to write a review on this establishment just to prevent others from going through the heartache I observed. While I can't speak to the QUALITY of the dental work offered here, I will address the business practices, and hard-sales tactics this office uses. I witnessed this first hand as my friend, a Vietnamese American (English is her second language) and a minimum wage employee experienced direct, forceful, and insistent sales practices. She was persuaded by a coupon from one of her regular clients "Janet" (who is a hygienist at this office) to get "free X-rays and an examination. Once she went to the office - the exam and X-rays were taken and an "emergency cleaning" took place. She left her appointment later that day with a signed contract and a charged credit card receipt for future work to be done for just under $8K. It was her father's credit card... I heard about her story the next day when she'd gone back to the dental office to get her money back and cancel all future appointments. She explained to me how terribly distraught she was about how she had been unsuccessful in convincing them to cancel her next appointments! Instead they continued to insist that she bring her family in to further discuss the imperative treatment she needed to have done immediately. Her health was at risk. I spent the next day on the phone with the office insisting on refunding my friends money - but they didn't relinquish and credit her father's credit card until we appeared in person and demanded the money back. The finance guy "Johan" didn't have authority to credit the card back and cancel the contract on the phone - the only person authorized to do so was the dentist Valentia Obradovic. Of course the dentist didn't call me back so finally I drove my friend out to the office. Her family drove an hour to meet me at the office and paid cash for the teeth cleaning that cost $267.00. Curiously, Janet the hygienist called my friend during my numerous attempts and tried to pressure her into coming into the office. She even used the term "buyer's regret" in describing my friend's anxiety! All I can say is "shame on you!" This wasn't about helping someone, this was in my opinion a strategy with the intent of profit. This is a person that can most likely qualify for free dental clinics offered throughout the San Diego County! read more

Believe what you're reading here, it's all true. They'll gouge you for everything under the sun. Here's what you can expect on your first visit: you'll be examined and told your teeth and gums are in deplorable condition. They'll want to give you laser gum treatment immediately, plus a plethora of additional procedures. The dentist will disappear after the exam (because she's with the finance person). Suddenly the finance person will appear with a laundry list of itemized procedures, most unnecessary, with outrageous prices totaling thousands of dollars. It's high pressure sales and you're told it must be done. When you tell them you cannot afford it they shuttle you to an office where the finance lady will drill you and eventually get you approved for a care credit card. They'll run the card(s) to their limits with procedures. And they'll also convince you need to purchase one of their electric toothbrushes which they mark up substantially. I honesty don't have enough time to tell you all my experiences. Final straw was in December 2013. Went for my quarterly periodontal maintenance and since the remainder of my insurance balance was up January 1, 2014, suddenly I had extensive cavities in 4 teeth, even though I had an exam a few months earlier and nothing was mentioned. They did as much fillings to suck up the remainder of my insurance. Fed up, I now have a new dentist, and a delta dental network member. Prices are at least half of what this place charges. My first visit my dentist examined me and said the teeth they were filling and future fillings weren't justified because there was so much bone loss they could not be saved, yet Adriatic filled them anyway. He showed me the xrays and this was only 6 weeks after this place also took xrays. Actually some of the teeth were loose. I'm getting 4 of them extracted tomorrow and getting a new partial. Also my new dentist already pulled two teeth that was under a temporary crown because they were also shot and Adriatic was going to charge me thousands of dollars for crowns. My lower partial that they put in never fit right. Also had two crowns to hold up my upper partial and one of them busted off with the partial in my mouth after only a short time after the work was done. They couldn't fix it but recommended it be filled and not extracted. It got to the point that it was so far under the gum line that I couldn't clean it. It's decayed now and must be pulled. I'm so angry with this place. I've wasted thousands of dollars here for nothing. All these bad reviews aren't just being made up. Read the not recommended ones too. Somehow they aren't shown but if you click at the bottom you can read them. Also the BBB lists complaints too and there's been investigations from the California Dental Association. I could go on and on. After every visit they send you a satisfaction survey but pick and choose what they post. That's what you'll see on their website. Some reviews here say be leary of their free exam and whitening coupons. It's only to lure you in. Beware you've been warned. What I speak is fact. read more

I am traumatized from this experience and still dealing with getting out of paying for a service that I didn't authorize!! I went here for a cleaning, they seemed nice enough, clean office, professional staff or so I thought... I kept telling them I couldn't afford their service and they ( 4 of them ), kept reassuring me that I'd be fine with the small payments I could make ( that would take me years to pay off! ) They signed me up for Care Credit, which I asked Marjorie not to put through before I checked to see the interest rate on my own charge card to see if I could afford this, she did it anyway!! They wanted to charge $700 for a deep cleaning which I told them I couldn't afford, that I would go to the clinic for half that price. I was walking out of the office when surrounded by the women that said well at least let us do your crown and swept me off to the chair. Me thinking well the crown must be way less because they knew I was whining about the 700, right?? Ignorance is so unkind! I was clueless until sitting in the chair with the mouth thingy in place, all numbed up when they placed the bill in my hand ( who does that?? ). Well guess what? The crown was almost 3 times the amount of the cleaning!! OMG! What was I supposed to do now?? I'm already in the chair, all the women telling me not to worry you'll find a way. So feeling pressured and definitely overwhelmed I made a huge costly mistake by allowing them to proceed!! I should have left at that moment!! Now months later I'm fighting to save my credit and do not want to pay the 1000$ that I never authorized!! I have a partial crown in my mouth that will be finished by a dentist that is honest and much more reasonably priced. Had I read the reviews 1st I never would have gone here in the 1st place. Last but not least is that a very expensive lesson has been learned, I will not allow myself to be railroaded like this ever again, at least I can thank them for that! Terrible. It doesn't even deserve one star, because they STEAL and LIE. I bought a groupon for a teeth whitening, and when I got there, they said it could NOT be done without a cleaning. Fine, I hadn't prepared to pay for that, but it's probably good for me. They were VERY rough, and the tech spent the WHOLE time apologizing, and seemingly very upset about the terrible condition my mouth was in. By the time the ordeal was over, I left the office in tears, them having basically coerced me through fear, telling me that I already had periodontal disease and needed $6000 worth of Care Credit to remedy my problems. They even wanted to sell me something to reshape my lower jaw. WTF? (Come to find out later from another dentist my mouth is actually NOT about to kill me.) The worst part is I was in school at the time and I TOLD them I did NOT have a job and COULD NOT AFFORD to make the payments. They assured me I would be fine, and if I didn't get the work done, periodontal disease would surely be life-threatening and it would be far, far more costly. Since then, my credit is completely ruined, I have even been sued by the collection agency. Fear, panic and frustration were all I felt. What kind of business signs you up for credit after you tell them you have no steady income, and sends you away in tears?! They are COMPLETELY shady. And if they are not shut down, I hope someone sues the ever-loving shit out of them for using such deplorable fear tactics. Has anyone else who's been there notice how beautifully-appointed their offices are? THE WORST DENTAL OFFICE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I bought a Groupon for a teeth whitening, and walked out with the same color teeth, and FOUR HOURS of my time lost. They kept trying to sell me some kind of deep cleaning and something for my gums. I repeatedly said no, so they repeatedly sent in dental tech after dental tech. I saw about 6 dental technicians total and the doctor once for a minute or 2. After four hours or sitting waiting for them to do my teeth whitening, and them trying to sell me some nonsense, I felt taken advantage of. This is a doctors office? This is health care? DO NOT GO HERE! My mother went here and before she was able to get out of the dentist chair, she was hit with a 6,000 bill of which she never approved of the procedures being done. She went in for a cleaning and while getting the cleaning they started to put in a crown. When she questioned the dentist, he called in another women dentist to ask her what needed to be done. When my mother said there seems to be a problem here, the lady dentist said "we don't have problems here, we resolve problems". My mother proceeded to tell her she does not need a crown and nothing about needing a crown was mentioned..the dentist and the finance nurse proceeded to convince my mother she needed one and started the billing. These people make stuff up just to get your money and will do unnecessary procedures to get more money. stay away and call the better business Bureau! ! read more
