I have mixed feelings about this place. I took my suv here because it kept cutting off once I started it. Talked to the older guy there he told me to leave it so he could find out what was wrong. he called me up and said it was nothing but the battery. He installed a new battery and I picked up my car after work. The next experience wasn't as good. A few months later I started hearing a loud noise towards the front of the car when I drove it. Back to the shop I go. I tell the guy i'm hearing a noise so he put the car on the rack and he says "i see the problem" I asked him could he fix it he says "yeah no problem. I don't know how much the part is. Take the car and I'll call you with the price" I told him I didn't care how much it was I just want my car fixed. He said "so what it's making noise, just turn up the radio so you don't here it" after that I waited for a call back for a week after which I called him.he told me he couldn't get the part. Didn't know they stopped making car parts. read more

No confidence that the owner is honest. He told me he heard a faint sound in the engine and i needed to bring it in. Afterwards I figured out it was my hydroflask rolling under my seat. He told me I needed an oil change (without looking under the hood) but my car has an auto sensor for when it needs to be changed, and it wasn't even close to needing to be changed. Don't know if he is taking advantage that I'm a female but I did NOT have a good feeling he would be truthful. read more

All 3 stars are for customer service not auto repairs. These guys are very friendly and responsive. In fact they are probably a good place for oil and brake changes-basic stuff. But, if you have a real problem with your car that needs to be diagnosed, you should probably look elsewhere. Diagnosis given for problem, recommended repair performed, car not fixed. They did issue a refund and did tell me they were not able to diagnose the problem-respect the honesty. But hey, were you just guessing in the first place??? read more

ADS Temescal Auto Care is a life saver! I initially went to another repair shop and received a very costly estimate. I decided to try Temescal Auto Care because they are conveniently located in my neighborhood. They came through for me and my beloved 1998 VW Jetta big time. They gave my car a basic ignition tune up in less than 24 hours, saved the old parts for me to inspect and charged me an appropriate amount for the work. I am very happy that my car is starting with no hassles again and is running smoothly. Tom and the other mechanics here are proof that trustworthy and skilled mechanics do exist. Needed a tune-up, they did it the same day and charged the quoted price. They did try to upsell me on a timing belt for $450, I blinked and shook my head no and surprise! No need to replace the timing belt. Other than that they were fine, car is running well and I will come back in six months to get the brakes done. Only downside is they aren't very fluent in English so it was tough to communicate but I understand calculator and so do they. read more

Went here a few times. The first time, it was great. Reasonable prices, great service. Since then, I have turned some people on to this place. Each time, it has gotten successively worse. My girlfriend went here to get her transmission fixed. They rebuilt it a few months ago, and it's already falling apart again. My car has gotten some shoddy repairs done here - it's the quality and attention to service that seems lacking. The prices are reasonable though and they are relatively honest. The last time I brought my car in, they wanted to charge me $80 just to look at it. I took my car to Johnny's right down the street and he fixed it for free. For an emergency, I'd still go here. But I've moved on and found much better. So should you. read more

I had my oil changed for $24, including tax, in about 15 minutes. They were extremely polite, and upon noticing that my car was a sandy mess, got out there vacuum and did a THOROUGH vacuuming job for free! I didn't have the change to tip them, so I'm going to at least encourage anyone to go there. It's cheap, convenient and they are very nice. read more

Fast, friendly, and affordable! Fong who works here is so nice and honest. I have never been overcharged for any service. I have been a loyal customer to them for five years and plan on staying loyal. At a lot of shops you will be charged an arm and a leg, but not here. And they seriously go above and beyond to make it convenient for you. They work efficiently, and they are very helpful at explaining things to me in simple terms (I'm not much of a car expert). Phong told me I needed a new fan belt and new wheel bearings. Two other mechanics said those things didn't need replacing for at least another 10,000 and 60,000 miles, respectively. They charge for the hour of labor to wait for the oil to drain from your car and tell you your transmission fluid needs changing because it's dark. Guys, transmission fluid changes colors and gets darker naturally. Don't go here. An extra star because they rubbed a scratch out of my car and didn't have to. read more

Went here for an oil change for i think 30? It was kind of a long time ago, but i do remember leaving happy. It took about 20ish minutes so i walked down or i guess up the block to the 76, bought an air freshener and a few min later, my car was ready. They did inform me that my breaks were acting funky, but due to limited finances, I wasn't able to get them fixed right then and there. I'll be back for future oil changes. read more

been a fan of Mike and the boys at Torchios for many years, a great experience with Xiao at XYZ as well. this time we were in a hurry...and couldn't get in elsewhere...found that these guys were around the corner and could get us in asap. they quickly identified the prob and an 1 1/2 later called to say it was done, even added some oil w/out charge AND came in lower than the quote! addendum; sooo..wasn't the starter..later same day not turning over..brought back today, replaced ignition switch for FREE... My car was having trouble starting, and I thought it was the alternator but it turned out to be a battery issue. I kinda felt ripped of by this place. I never paid so much for a battery in my life. The mechanic who's name I forgot said there was acid all over the plugs of my battery and they would have to soak it in baking soda for a additional 15.00 Last time I check baking soda is like 1.00. I said okay because I was new to the area, and my current mechanic is in San Jose and I didn't want to travel that far for a good deal on a battery. Overall, If you need a battery just go elsewhere like Walmart. read more

So I had a flat on my truck that I was able to swap with the spare to keep going. Knowing that it's bad karma to drive round with no spare tire I finally I went to a big National Brand tire guy on Broadway. They said $33 & drop off with a tomorrow evening pick up. So not into hanging out at repair shops I said no thanks & went by this new place up by Manifesto bike shop. They said no worries & did the repair right then & there. They also gave me the wood screw that they dug out of my tire. A full 10 minutes & I was back on the road for the big charge of $15. Can beat that sort of service. Great to have a family owned Garage in the neighbourhood. read more

I live 2 blocks away, so its a real convenient repair shop for me. When the shop first opened they advertised a $24 oil change special. They were quick, friendly and helpful so I got an oil change for my truck too. When i strarted having problems with the front suspension of my car. I brought it in for them to look at it. They quickly Identified the problem, which was what I suspected. Their price was very reasonale for replacing both struts. I brought it in the next day and it was ready when promised. They even washed the car for free. I have since had a new muffler and heater hoses put on my truck. Again, the work was done right away and at a very affordable price. The owner is friendly, helpful and seem eage to please his customers. He explained what was done, pointed out other issues that should be looked at but didn't pressure me to have the work done. read more

Oh, I was so hopeful. Good reviews! In our neighborhood! So when the car (92 Honda Civic) died, we went there. The first thing the guy said was "sounds like a timing belt issue." Turned out it wasn't; they replaced the distributor, and the car ran again, though he mentioned "we might need to do the timing belt later." They worked fast and charged $400. It turned out the car ran crappy; kept almost stalling, not smooth at all. We took it back, and they adjusted the timing belt (for free). The car ran a little better, but not great. I got the feeling they were fishing for a timing belt replacement. So I took it to XYZ, who seemed reliable and swore the timing was fine. They fixed some other stuff, and now the car runs great. Also, they found that the guys at ADS replaced the distributor, but not the distributor cap, which was a shoddy shortcut. To sum up: ADS worked fast, but failed to truly fix the car, and I didn't trust them. read more

It's 6am and as I was putting oil in my car I was just reminded of how fantastic A.D.S. is. i just discovered he steam cleaned my engine and the entire inside of my car for free! But that's just the icing on the cake. I took my 1998 Honda in several months ago by recommendation of a good friend to have wheel noise checked out and to get a full tune up. They quickly assessed the problem (wheel bearings) and had it ready to go within 24 hours for a decent price. Shortly after I was t-boned in a car accident and my car was pronounced totaled by the insurance company. The guys at A.D.S. brought my car back to life using recycled parts (my request) and dealt beautifully with my insurance company. I am now driving my salvaged vehicle and thrilled I don't have to shop for a new car. This one will last me at least another couple of years, especially with these guys on my team. Less than three weeks later my I was having trouble shifting and brought it back. Phoung quickly diagnosed the problem and $120 later I was out the door with a smooth running vehicle. It's wonderful to have found a mechanic I completely trust! Often times Phoung over shares what's going on with my car and what/how/why they are going to fix (I'm not mechanically inclined so most of that info goes over my head) but just the same it's great to know he knows his stuff. read more

Still amazing, fast and thorough with the issues related to my oldie but lemony fresh '94 Q45. I do love this car but it's now old enough to be a contestant on Maury Povich as a potential baby daddy to some nissan sentra slutmobile. But i digress! ADS has two stellar gentlemen at helm by the name of Tong and Fong, who are experts at their craft and will ALWAYS tell you what you truly need for your vehicle, if it is worth the 401k hardship withdrawal and more importantly at the best price you can get, especially considering the thorough and professional quality of their work. So don't go in there haggling and trying to pennypinch even further like I overheard this one dude trying to do one time. the price they quoted him for the work he needed done was so unbelievably reasonable that I expected clouds to part, a flood of bright light and an angelic host to come down and bless the place and canonize them right then and there. And yet this cat had the unmitigated gall to haggle and probe like he was following a script from "7 on Your Side". Anyway, my car having been around the block, (oh, a few billion times), has "new" issues pop up like baby gremlins, doing laps in lake Merritt, before stopping off at 12:30am at Denny's for one of those crappy grand slam breakfasts. These are the people I trust to get whatever i need done to fix it, sight unseen. Despite my wish to defer it all to them, they painstakingly explain it to my lazy "that's ok. I Trust you guys.
