I took up the offer of a security system installation that would cost $99. When the engineer came and caried out the installation, on completion he handed me an invoice and bill for $1,400. Then to put the finishing touches to the transaction they wanted me to pay monthly retal fees on equipment I now owned. ADT is in my opinion a perfect example of American greed. Calendared my contract's last day. It's up in April. Just called to get the exact date, 4/13. Was told that on 4/14 I could put in the cancelation and it takes 30 days to take effect. Ok, what does that mean. It means that I'm still being charged for a service I despise until June. What?!!! Again, just don't use this service. We moved here to henderson and our homeowners association had a deal with them that worked out reasonably well for me. The only problem I've had so far is if you call them trying to figure out a problem the people on the phone can't help ever so they send a technician to your house. It will take him or her all of 5 minutes or less and the charge will be $165.00 or so. It's annoying since if the person on the phone knew what the heck they were doing you could do it by yourself. When you look on the website they're absolutely no help and they don't sell anything except yard signs, window stickers and batteries. It would be nice if they sold sensors which can be easily stuck on a door or window. I guess it's their way of getting every dime from you. I guess they're probably all the same but I think I may try someone else and see if they're any better. To be continued. read more

This is about ADT customer service. Their chat is completely useless. Once you get past the bots and reach a "real person" you are in for another round of questions that you already gave the first time. I think the "real person" is actually a bit as well. After multiple notifications from the ADT that my Equipment was no longer communicating with the monitoring station.with a 6F code reported on my control panel. I called ADT in Wichita, KS on several occasions to resolve the problem for over a month. Nothing was resolved. In desperation to have a system that worked I agreed to have a new system installed. But upon concerns about the removal of my old system which I was perfectly satisfied the indoor screamer and outdoor activator would have to be disabled I canceled the request for an install two days prior. I was told by the ADT representative to cancel the install with the installer. Have him troubleshoot the system to find out what the problem. It was to change the install into a work order. The ADT installer was very patient in trying with the home office and ADT representatives in Wichita to get the accomplished on a Friday. Nobody could give approval somebody finally agreed. Since the Communicator was thought to be the problem the tech replaced it with the one from the new set, still had the same results 6F code on the control panel. With his equipment as able to find out no signal or weak from Century link the technician switch over to Verizon and the problem was solved. I thought, I received a bill from ADT for the full amount of the new equipment since the communicator was from the new set. I canceled my service immediately and was told I wouldn't have to pay the full amount but they would settle my account for 1/2 half the amount $359.86. I told them I did not get a full set of new equipment only a new communicator chip. I have disputed the charge to this day and currently receiving threats from MLA Des Plaines ,IL regarding the MLA File #210464 a debt collector that it would reflect on my credit reports. In addition would like to add that ADT raised the price of monitoring for a long time customer while charging the basic price for new customers when a new system was installed. I received a minimal amount of increase from my insurance company State Farm for canceling ADT. read more

Hey folks, don't be SCAMMED by this unscrupulous company as I managed to avoid it lately. Let me give you the FACTS of how they work: First of all, if you answer almost any online request (even independent) for a home security system, they will get your contact info. Within the first 24 hours, I got 31 separate calls from 31 different ADT individuals. Yes, 31 total and it was almost "rapid fire" so I took none of them initially and let them all go straight to VM. I took one of them finally and then the fun started. As I used to teach economics to graduate students, they are the classic "Parkinson's law of economics" meaning that the cost/charge of a good or service has NOTHING to do with the value of that good or service - but ONLY based on how STUPID YOU ARE in what you willing to pay them. I will explain further. Before they give you a quote, the ADT huckster on the phone wants your home address so that he/she can look up the value of your home - so they can then high-ball you on their first offer. Again what they think you are WILLING to pay them which is unrelated to the value. Almost like a slimeball selling used cars, the price keeps coming down to even include "I am putting you on hold so I can speak to my manager and get our the best offer." After the rep gives you his/her "best price" allegedly per his/her manager and if you say "no" to that, then it morphs into a "Juarez or Tijuana Mexican bazaar" on haggling. The price keeps coming down exponentially as long as you stay on the phone with them. I played them for over 45 minutes this week. Even their monthly monitoring service charge was cut over 50% from their original offer! The most laughable part of these FRAUDSTERS is that they will do anything for you to allow one of their reps to come to your house. Don't ever never do that! Because if you already have a home security system (as I do), they are going to "replace" your equipment with theirs which is totally unnecessary - but they will tell you that it is and even swear to it. And if you don't already have a home system, you will be nothing more than "red meat" for them. AVOID at all costs! read more

Avoid At All Cost!!!! You'd be better off getting robbed, because they'll rob you anyway. A customer for 3 1/2 years. Finished out the contract and continued on. Cancelled service when we moved. Bank account proves it, always paid the bill direct withdrawal automatically every month no issue. Now ADT is telling us we didn't cancel and continue to charge us for a service we don't even have. We even changed the billing address to get the final bill paper to make sure we didn't owe anything, and we'd be done with ADT. We call and call and call. They transfer us upwards of 10-15 times to different people and departments and spend 2-3 hours trying to find a resolution. They tell us there's no notation of a cancellation, but they can see the billing address change, and the payment method was cancelled, and paper bill was requested. Now why would we do all of that? But magically the part were we cancelled isn't on there. It's a circus, no wonder their reviews are so horrible. They even pretend to say a manager will call us in a day or two, and surprise, no one calls. This has been months of trying to get this taken care of, it's to a point of abuse and neglect. ADT customer service is absolutely horrible and the gaslighting is a total mind f@#$. We finally filed a complaint with the BBB. I try to get out of my contract, but they are not forgiving. They don't care if you never use it, do you still have to pay the amount monthly which is generally $49. I am finally coming up to my to your agreement where I can cancel but you have to cancel within 30 days they won't let you cancel before if you try to cancel before you get a cancellation fee if you don't wanna be locked into a contract, please please do not go with ADT. We had a technician from everOn come out and replace the battery for my system. He was at my office for a total of 10 minutes. I received a bill in the mail for $646. I called to find out why the charge was so high. They said there was a labor charge of $453. All they did was replace the BATTERY!!! I spoke to a manager and they were very rude and told me I had to pay that amount. They told me if I wasn't happy then to just switch companies. OK, so I'm gonna add a comment to my ADT issue. So I spoke to a woman at the corporate office she made an appointment for a tech to come out yesterday and replace my doorbell. Well, he did come out. He was very very nice. However, my doorbell did not get replaced because ADT shipped me the wrong doorbell. So after he left, I called the corporate office back and I left a message stating such. So I am waiting for a phone call. I don't know if I'm gonna get one and I don't know what's gonna happen but now I have to go to the post office and mail back the new doorbell camera. If they would allow me to give zero stars, I would have. ADT has horrible customer service and we had terrible service with our alarm. I installed alarm service about 10 months ago and one day I had trouble with my alarm and called them in one day. After they fixed that problem, they checked my system and it turned out that one window and both my cameras didn't work. As he started went to fix the window, he busted my window. And the best part, they asked me to fix the windo and they will reimburse the amount that they feel the window is worth. I fought all the way up to upper corporate and finally they offered to fix it. As I said, my cameras weren't working for 10 months. What would of happened if someone broke into my house? Insurance wouldn't pay because I said I had a central alarm, I asked ADT if they would pay for anything stolen and they said no!!! Please everyone, do your due diligence and search for a good alarm company. ADT is so bad that we are going to stop using the service while still locked into their contract. I am going to start a new contract with Sting Alarm while continuing to pay for ADT. So basically, I am paying to NOT use ADT - that is how bad the hardware and customer service is. I purposely trigger the alarm to see if we are being monitored. I have done this numerous times and never received a call from ADT monitoring service. You are paying for a service that does not exist and for hardware that does not work. When I called customer service to explain my malfunctioning hardware, they blamed it on my electrical wiring and told me to call an electrician. Security system was beeping all hours of the day and night for "comm failure." This problem occurred on and off for two month. It was driving us crazy. When I called for tech support, the technician told me that it appeared that the problem was happening daily! I asked why ADT did not notify me my security system was INOP due to comm issues if I was paying ADT $70 per month for a MONITORED security system. He said my security system is monitored by computer and the computer did not recognize "comm problem!" WHAT??? Essentially, I was paying for a security system that did not work as advertised and it woke us up at all hours of the night. The technician could not clear the fault and wanted to sent out a technician for a home call. I said NO, disconnected the system, and canceled my service. Stay away from ADT! This office is located next door to a school and their drivers do not care one bit. They are speeding through school zone when kids are getting dropped off, and I've seen them speed around cars following the speed limit with the lights flashing. Kids and parents are getting out of cars but it's more important the driver get for the stop sign apparently. Recently, I spoke to an ADT technical support representative. The connection was very poor and after I explained my problem, the representative told me she would immediately call me back. She never called back. This was the reason I gave one-star to ADT for this specific contact. ADT quickly responded to my one-star and established the time for a virtual appointment the following morning. At the specified time, Vestin Madaire called me and quickly resolved my problem. Mr. Madaire was very knowledgeable, he had great people skills, and he was very patient. Mr. Madaire deserves five-stars for his assistance and resolution of my problem. read more

I have had adt in my house for two agreements now. I just found out that the last install was done wrong and one of my alarms were never installed correctly in their system. I called them and they want to charge me to have someone come fix their incorrect install. I sent a letter to their corporate office and alls I got back was an email asking me to call and they will have someone get on the phone with me to help fix it. No customer service all at anymore. i called today adt to cancel my account and i was told i could not due i was under a contract. i told them i did not have any contract except for the parts that were installed at my house. they scamed the customers in page 2 (financial disclosure statement) top right adt hold you in a 60 month contract. customer services is terrible they interruted your conversation, they are not profesional, i wanted to be scalated to a manager, they never did. they misled customers , fradulent company, here in las vegas, nv. i will have to hold on to the contract against my will for two and half more years, but they should not do that to any of you in the future. be aware, they tell you is not a contract, when it is. the batery don't work they can not replace it, is not in the contract and they can increase your bill after one year, page 6. they are out of hands. if the alarm goes off they send you an adt car that it takes between 20-25 min to show up at your house. please do not ever contract this people. read more

I had a new garage door installed a few days ago, and on my ADT app it says my garage door is open when it's actually closed. The woman who tried troubleshooting with me over the phone was NO HELP at all. They set up a "virtual tech appt" and I missed their phone call. I was expecting someone to actually come to my house to fix the issue. Now they are telling me that it is $59 for someone to come out. Probably may be more money. Stay clear of this company. I canceled my service because I had two cameras and neither worked properly. The one in the front was pointed wrong and didn't get the person who robbed up through the front door and the rear camera was so "foggy" it wasn't usable. I paid for maintenance but when I asked for these things to be fixed I was told it would be $2K so I canceled. When I canceled I informed ADT through email, phone, chat and US Mail that I wasn't going to pay my bill anymore. After I canceled I got a call and was told I could get everything I wanted for $52/month as part of a spacial "returning customer deal" so I said ok. I told that person on the phone that I feared when the sales rep showed up they wouldn't honor the contract for $52 and the person on the phone told me I had nothing to worry about. The next day the sales rep, Shawn, come by and told me it would be $83/month because the person on the phone "Missed a bunch of stuff" so I sent him home. Then I got a call from Jimmy who told me it would be $82/month but I had to pay the $170 of back bills. I reminded him that I said in many forms of communication that I would not be paying that $170 that happened after I canceled but in trying to move forward I paid only under the condition that it could be installed today, Monday November 14th. Jimmy told me in an email (I can happily provide) that it wouldn't be a problem. As soon as I paid the $170 I was told Monday wasn't an option (what a coincidence). At that point Shawn texted me (I can happily share) and said Monday wasn't a problem and someone would be here between noon-4pm. I told him I went on the website and there was nothing scheduled and he told me not to worry. Again, can happily forward all these texts. So I was forced to pay for a bill for service that didn't work....then given a classic "bait and switch"...then was charged $170 in order to set up an appointment...then was lied to that someone would come (I took off work) when there was never a tech visit scheduled. I honestly don't know if these guys ae incompetent or just "punching" me but why would I use this company for anything's especially my family security? read more

This is the 4 month in a row ADT has been charging me a late fee on an AUTOMATICALLY PAID bill. It is impossible I am late with a payment since they automatically bill m. credit card. I've written to the President of ADT and have not received a response. I called customer service in October and after 13 minutes on hold, I was cut off. Called back and am waiting to speak to a human. My next step is the BBB and the Attorney Generals of Florida (their headquarters) and Nevada (where I'm located). This is unacceptable.
