The same technician was sent twice by my home warranty company to fix my leaking washing machine. It is now leaking a third time. I SPECIFICALLY asked him if it he had checked/cleaned the filter. He said it didn't have a filter (I had YouTubed a video on cleaning it for my washing machine, so I knew he was wrong, just lazy.) He said he couldn't duplicate the problem and left. 2 weeks later, the same problem occurred. I had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment and he again couldn't duplicate the problem-still not checking the filter that he didn't believe existed. Was told over the phone the repair would be approximately $850-900. Parts only were $418 and the trip charge was $150. The total job took 1.5 hours and my total bill was over $1180. When I asked the service guy why so much all he said was that was what his boss told him to charge. However, when I booked the appointment the lady over the phone said I was to expect labor of approximately 300 since the job should take less than 2 hours (job took 90 minutes) She couldn't give me a specific amount over the phone because the tech quotes his own labor rate. However the tech told me they have a book and quote directly out of that which shouldn't have been a problem to quote over the phone. If paying a fair price is important to you, then I suggest looking elsewhere for your appliance needs. read more

We had a very disappointing experience with this company. They came out three separate times to assess our fridge and eventually diagnosed a faulty compressor. We were told the replacement part had arrived damaged--though I suspect it may have been mishandled during the install. After waiting several more weeks, the technician returned and installed the new compressor, instructing us to wait 24 hours for it to start cooling again. After just 14 hours, the fridge still wasn't working--it didn't even sound like it was running. We ended up calling in a second company, who quickly found that the compressor had not been properly installed. They also noted that a filter--which is supposed to be replaced with the compressor--was never swapped out, and the fridge had been overcharged with refrigerant in what seemed like a desperate attempt to get it to run. The technician from the this company didn't seem confident when he left, and unfortunately, that showed in the result. We've now been without a fridge for over 40 days. Thankfully, the second repair company was incredibly professional, informative, and honest, and while they tried their best, they confirmed the fridge was beyond repair due to the mishandling. read more

This place has some of the worst service I've ever dealt with. I have a warranty for my appliances directly through Whirlpool, and this is the vendor they sent the repair claim to. I wouldn't have chosen them if I'd seen all these reviews. To be fair, after this experience I would not choose this company even if they were FREE. First, when my appointment was scheduled by Whirlpool, I provided them with the error code my dishwasher was blinking, along with the model number, serial, etc. I got a call from Advanced Appliance saying they didn't actually have availability the day Whirlpool scheduled them, and asked if I could push it out a week. I obliged. The technician arrived a week later than I originally expected. He checked the model number. I gave him the error code. He didn't do ANYTHING else and said it was a faulty pump, pulled up the part number, and told me it would be 5-10 business days to order the part, then I'd be contacted to schedule them to come put it in. I was upset by this fact, because they already HAD the model number and error code, and if that's all it took to diagnose, they could have brought the part with them. None the less, I scheduled them to come back, 1 week later. On the day they were set to arrive, I got a call that the technician was out with the flu and they'd need to reschedule. I had to push the repair back 9 more days. Finally, the day of repair arrived! The technician (a different guy, apparently my first tech was no longer with the company [big surprise with how they operate]) pulled the part out of the box and then realized it was BROKEN. He put my dishwasher back together broken and told me they'd need to re-order the part again and schedule to come back in a week. It's still not fixed and won't be for at least another week. Does not care to listen to return customers concerns. Did ot even try to correct an issue. Gas stove oven was not flaming correctly and was leaving a lot of black soot inside. tech said it was the igniter. That perplexed me. It's lighting up. The flame/air needed adjustment. I had to go out of town for an extended time. I called back to voice my concerns about 6 weeks later. They didn't care to even try to resolve my concerns. They offered to send a tech out for another service fee of $95. I had already paid $105. Tech said it was the igniter. new one cost $210.00 What? Searched the issue and found that " One of the primary causes of soot inside your oven is a weak burner flame. Weak flames do not burn the LP properly and leave high amounts of residue, which stain the oven surfaces. A flame becomes weak when it has low air flow. Sometimes the solution is as simple as opening the supply vent to your oven wide, or cleaning out the vent to remove any obstructions." I will never use this company again. read more

I purchased a refrigerator at Flippin Jays in Pineville, NC. It had a one year warranty included with the purchase. It had been working fine for 11 months and then the lower fridge section stopped working while the freezer was working fine. I called Whirpool and they set up an appointment with this company for a Tech to come out and look at it. It took a full week to get on their schedule. They told me I would get a call the morning of the appointment and the Tech would show up between 12n and 5p. I got a call about 11am and the Tech showed up at 115p. Greg was very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue. He had the unit up and working in about an hour. I would highly recommend Greg, I don't know about the other Techs. read more

Said to wait over the weekend and cut power again. Still did not work! Technician came out a again and called a hotline to Whirlpool. They asked him to conform the ice maker was turned on. It was not! He never checked this and installed a $300 icemaker when in was just turned off. Advanced offered to reimburse for the cost of the ice maker, but not the labor to install it. I've had 4 or 5 experiences with Advanced Appliance Service. The first 4 at my old home resulted in major repairs required for a fridge they serviced (the warranty company sent in GE to clean up the mess and they cut a check for all the lost food). Another time they ruined an AC unit and the warranty company replaced that (overfilled with refrigerant). The last time, however, that was 5 stars. Had a drain catch cup in a shower - it broke loose and was blocking the drain. In less than 10 minutes, the cup was retrieved and the blockage was gone. I'm beyond frustrated with the service from Advanced Appliance Repair. Our LG side-by-side refrigerator stopped freezing to a temperature that would keep ice cream frozen, though it had no issue making ice. Since the unit is under warranty, On July 25th, LG assigned Advanced Appliance Repair out of Gastonia, NC, even though we live in Mint Hill, NC. The earliest available appointment was August 12th, with a time window of 8 AM to Noon. We waited all morning, only to get a call at 11:45 AM saying the tech would be another 3 hours. We canceled the appointment, having wasted half the day waiting. This delay also cost Debby, a contracted worker, hundreds of dollars, as she had to cancel her appointments to be there. The next appointment was on August 16th. The tech finally arrived and told us we needed a new condenser and compressor. The earliest date for repair was August 30th. After hours of work, the tech said the unit needed to reset. The same day, everything in the fridge and freezer stopped working entirely. To make matters worse, both LG and Advanced Appliance Repair were closed for Labor Day weekend, so we couldn't reach anyone (other than the LG call center in the Philippines) until after the holiday. We lost everything in our fridge and freezer and are beyond furious. Now, we're stuck waiting until Tuesday just to get in contact with someone. UPDATE: After the long 4 days without a fridge/freezer because of a failed repair, we NEVER got a courtesy call from Advanced Appliance Repair. I just experienced the worst customer service in my home today. My Electrolux washer dryer unit is less than six months old and it is snagging/tearing our clothing. I had 12 examples to shown my technician. He could not figure out the problem so he ordered a new drum for both the washer and dryer. He came back today with another tech(Shawn) to install the drums. The second tech was rude, unhelpful and I felt uncomfortable having him in my home. They said they did not have enough time (3 hours) to replace the drums. They blamed the time constraint on not knowing how big the job was and that I had run the dryer (on eco dry for 5 minutes before they arrived). He stated 3 times if I had a problem then "take it up with Electrolux". He offered one date and time they could come back and if that did not work......"take it up with Electrolux". As soon as they left I called Advanced Service to report the poor experience. Be warned if Shawn is coming to your home to fix a problem then I would strongly suggest asking for a different tech. read more

Nick was the tech assigned to me and I was very pleased. He arrived on time, followed Covid-19 protocols without hesitation, assessed the problem and told me what to expect including the $88 service call, which is reasonable. Parts had to be ordered and within a few days they called to schedule my final repair. The bonus was once the built-in unit was removed; Nick discovered that a part had broken on the start button. "Well, this will save you quite a bit of money. And I just happened to bring those parts, too." So instead of a complete panel, it was a simple repair, and my overall costs came down over $100. #winning I couldn't be happier with their service, how they set expectations, and with the professionalism of my technician. This company is ABSOLUTELY a money grab! Samsung sent them to repair my refrigerator because the freezer was not working or making ice. I've had the fridge for 14 months FYI. The technician came to "fix the issue", he replaced the control board and now NOTHING is working. He said there is nothing else he can do, we need to call Samsung again. So he left my fridge in worst condition then when he arrived. They just want to get paid from Samsung and do absolutely nothing to help you! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! TO be clear- The tech was here yesterday, so we granted full access- This is their second trip out. We have denied future access because they are coming and not solving any issues. Instead of saying "there's nothing else I can do. You have to call Samsung". Seems like laziness or a way to have Samsung pay you for another service call. And that's frankly unacceptable. I do not recommend Advanced Appliance Service of Gastonia, NC. Service was requested to correct a situation when the microwave of a microwave oven combo would not start when the door was closed unless the upper right side of the door was pushed in another 1/16 inch. At this point, the unit operated correctly. The technician said he'd seen this problem before and proceed to jam a screwdriver in the right hinge elbow in an attempt to fix the issue. After several forceful attempts with this procedure, the microwave would not start at all. At this point the technician said the interconnect switch was broken; however, it was not broken before his attempted fix. The invoice for the service call states that 2 techs tried to adjust the door, but he was the only tech. It also says the hinge did not work which is probably correct particularly after he damaged it with the screwdriver. We're now left without an operable microwave and a $1,000 estimate to repair it. I believe he was totally incompetent in his work and feel that we should be refunded the service call fee or better yet, pay us for the inconvenience of being without a microwave oven. Incidentally, the microwave is part of a microwave oven combo unit so the whole unit, microwave and standard oven, would have to be replaced. The company manager has not responded to several attempts to discuss this issue. If a NEGATIVE STAR RATINGING were available i'd use it. read more

Parts come in and they show up for a second visit and they still don't have all the parts needed and do nothing but say sorry. Two service visits, 5 minutes onsite, both times and really do nothing but look at your broken appliance and don't fix it. Been down over 3 months and who knows when they will be back. They probably will throw some parts at it and hope for the best even though they did nothing to troubleshoot. They came out replaced almost every motorized part 4 times within 12 months. I told them this should be replaced with the warranty. Everyone pointing fingers. I tried to get the warranty and Advanced on the phone together. Come to find out when I told Advanced that they are just ordering parts and cashing in on the insurance I was hung on and they sent in paperwork stating COMPLETE. It is shameful because we did come across some nice technicians and schedulers but like my lemon of a wash machine. There are always some bad eggs and lack of ethics. Shameful. When I spoke to the store about what happened. I was informed others in the area have complained about Advanced. Typically I am not a Yelp and would go right to BBB. But it is not accredited. We did not hire Advanced Appliance Service, they are contracted under Whirlpool who I will also write to relay my experience. A tech showed up to repair our dishwasher July 27th, our garbage disposal worked. We used it to make sure the breaker was off. He spent around 10 minutes, said we needed a new board and left. After he left our garbage disposal no longer worked. Two weeks later, after receiving absolutely zero contact from anyone. I call Whirlpool, who gave me the number to Advanced Appliance Service. I call them and they claim maybe the tech left something unplugged while waiting for the board. Stating if it still doesn't work after he installs the board to give them a call. Tech comes back again, around the third week mark. Installs the board, nothing works. Says to call an electrician and leaves.. This is where it gets wild.. I call Advanced Appliance Service again.. I request a new tech. The new tech comes out, takes a look and is blown away by how many errors the first tech made.
