Wow! Steve is definitely experienced and it shows in his work. I walked in with a friend for piercings. I had my nose (nostril) done in the past and decided to reprieve it. I will say, his years of experience shows through the lightness of his hand. It was over before I knew it. The equipment he uses is medical grade. I noticed he had a super cool autoclave (I've been in the medical field/nursing for over 15 years) he took the time to show it to me. He uses the same pouches we use in the field. I got my nose pierced today, a septum. I was really nervous but Steve is really friendly so he naturally makes you feel at ease. He was very quick at putting the needle through as well as the jewelry. I wanted the piercing to be flipped up and my nose is tiny, so he helped me learn how to do that with the accommodations. He looks like an aged rebel, but he's very kind with a soft demeanor. He'll answer any question and talk you through your concerns. Called ahead to see if they had time to pierce my almost 8 year old ears and luckily the owner said they had availability. We went down to the shop and signed the quick paperwork and we were allowed to go back with our daughter to hold her hand and distract her if needed. But no real need as it was quick, rather painless and the owner was very good at explaining the process to our daughter, gave us the supply and advice to keep it clean and make sure it heals correctly. It was Sunday and I was looking for a place to get a lip piercing done and I happen to come across this place on yelp, liked the reviews so I decided to give the place a call. Steven is the best piercer I've ever come across! This man is a pro that has been at this spot since 1979 so expect nothing less but a great piercing. Went in for my nipple and he gave me the perfect sized gauge and pierced super straight. So straight I was shocked when I saw since he freehandedly drew the lines where he inserted the needle. On top of that, he gave me sea salt for sea salt soaks for aftercare. When has a piercer ever done that? The shop is a little intimidating and may not be the most esthetically appealing, but its definitely a hidden gem. I took my teenage daughter in around Christmas time for one of her gifts: a septum piercing and a new hoop for her existing nostril piercing. I've known of Steve's shop for years, knew plenty who've been tattooed there, but never had the pleasure of going in myself. Steve put my daughter at ease, reminded me very much of my dad and his kind and gentle manner during the process. If you'd rather pay a little less, bring cash with you only because Steve gets charged when you use a card so he adds that to the price. He marked the spot and showed me before piercing. It was great placement. After everything was done he explained exactly how to take care of it and how to clean it. He answered any and all questions I had and even added extra information on what to do if similar circumstances that other customers have experienced occur. After deciding on a tattoo that will serve me when I am 80 years and skating half-naked in Venice Beach, I came upon this parlor. I chose a chinese symbol for 'happiness.' After reading and filling out the paperwork, Steve, the owner and artist showed me the sealed needle then opened it in front of me. I showed him where I wanted it then braced myself. If you've never gotten a tattoo, it doesn't really hurt unless you're a real puss. It feels like someone etching your skin with a pin, but delicately. When he finished, he dressed it with betadyne and gauze and said that it would take a few months to heal., It cost 40 bucks. He asked if this was my first and when I answered in the affirmative, like a madman he beamed disturbingly and said, "You'll be back." He didn't lie. I finally drew the tattoo that I want for the top of my foot. I am told that the top of the foot is a sensitive area and it would hurt. I'm thinking it can't hurt as bad as the ones I've seen on genitals on adult sites. Now that has to hurt! I want a colorful fairy with afro puffs holding up a paintbrush in one hand and money in the other with the small caption "Starving artist, my ass!" Like most women, I'm a shoe girl and I envision this to POP when I wear sandals and my *Carlos Santanas in the summertime. I'll have a couple of **cherry bombs before I go in. I've had the tattoo for 4 years now and it is only visible in a tank top as it sits right below the neckline in the middle if my back. A friend of mine is an ultra conservative Christian and she told me that men have a dim view of women with tattoos. She doesn't have any tattoos and she has no man, so her theory is mute. There is nothing fancy about this shop. Nothing crazy or out-of-the-box. Just straight-up tattoos and piercings in a clean little shop run by Steve, who's clearly been doing this for a very long time. We were new in town and to celebrate signing our lease, my boyfriend wanted to get his second tattoo - so we came here. Steve was super professional and impressed me in particular with his attention to making sure all three needles in the new pack were perfectly sharp - "You can't trust these, they come from China," he said, "and I'd rather not buy from China, but they're the only choice out there. And so many of these have one bent needle or a dull one in the mix. You gotta be careful to make sure they're all sharp..." Well, I have 14 tattoos which I acquired at 5 different shops and not once had anyone taken a jewelry magnifier to the needles to ensure they were all perfect! While we were about to leave, I overheard Steve advising a young lady about her tattoo decision and was impressed again by how diplomatically he directed her into a better decision as opposed to just doing what she asked for without regard to her skin type and how the tattoo would turn out. To start off I came here because of the excellent reviews this place have received. But before I start explaining my experience I had here I'll say what lead me to this place. A few months back I had decided I wanted to get my nose pierced. So a friend and I went to the mall to go and get it done. Well we got it done there and a week later I was cleaning the piercing and it fell out. So the stud that they use is not a normal nose piercing L shape ring it's literally an ear ring. And after it fell out I decided not to get a new ring or go and get it redone since I didn't like where it was placed anyways but to wait a little while and get it professionally done. So shortly after I started looking up places to go. I found some shops that were either to expensive, did not have very good reviews, to cheap, or just not clean. Then I came across this beautiful place and love the reviews that I was reading from the yelp app as well as the reviews on google maps about this place. I decided to go on a Thursday (June 12th) when I arrive Steve told me to come back because he was going to do a tattoo for this lady and so when we did we had a wonderful 20 minute conversation on piercings and tattoos (my friend was with me and wanted to know about the tattoos that he could do for her). He inform me on how getting a piercing with the gun is the worst idea, how to care for a nose piercing, and much more. I absolutely love that he was friendly, kind, and willing to give me tons of information about the work I wanted him to do. He pierced my nose and it was quick and painless (I was nervous to get my nose re pierced but he reassured me it would be ok). Steve's shop is nice and small, most definitely affordable (nose piercing = $40), and reliable. Me and all of my roommates had a piercing done here! All together, we all got a septum, a tragus, a cartilage piercing, and a nose stud. Even though the shop was small, we were all really really impressed with the professionalism of the piercer.
