Unfortunately me and my husband did not have a good experience with Martin. He failed to detect a major lock mechanism issue with our entry double steel door and also our balcony sliding glass doors. The doors were unable to open fully and there's major issues with the cylinder, bolt and plate. He did not mention any problems with the doors to us or on the report. This has cost us over 4k to fix. He mentioned on his report that we needed to seek a specialist for a possible drainage system issue and our realtor asked to see if he can specify a structural engineer/water expert on the report and he refused to do so. He took less than 3hrs on a 4032sqft 2018 built house with a pool. According to my realtor that is for sure not enough time to perform a thorough inspection. We would not recommend him. read more

It's month 6 after moving in and I'm in double digit misses from the advanced inspection service inspection of my Home. Some were obvious misses - hole in my floor he didn't see, AC not sealed and leaking, raccoon in my attic. Others maybe less so: leak in tub, sink leak, water leak behind washing machine. Would not recommend because this company isn't thorough. Very disappointed from the inspection. The misses have cost me well over $3000. read more

As my husband and I went through the process of buying our first home we were very grateful for anyone who would take the time to slow down and really explain to us what was happening. After you read this, these are facts and if you want to hire him, at least you have the knowledge. He said that my master closet light didn't work, I took a light bulb out of the other side and moved it over to the one he said wasn't working, sure enough it turned on. He said that half of my stove top didn't work on the report and two burners say induction right one them, I boiled water on all four and they work perfectly. He turned down the water pressure to our bathrooms which were working perfectly before I left the house, this must have caused the masters tub not to have pressure because he reported it not working. The toilets ran constantly when I came home so I turned the water pressure back up and when I ran the bath today, the day I received the report, the water works perfectly. He let out my dogs, the nest camera caught him outside whistling and when I immediately ran home, I asked if he had let out my dogs and he said, "No." Someone called me, they had one of my dogs on Plano and spring valley rd so if you have dogs or animals, be sure to put them somewhere he won't have to go in and out of because I had a baby gate trapping them in the back of the house and he must have left the back or front door open during inspection along with the baby gate that traps them back there because at some point they escaped and by a miracle, one came back into the house while the other one was found on the busy roads alive. You have the facts and now you can decide if this is the correct inspector for you. read more

I hired Mike for a house inspection. Although he was friendly and generally professional, I did experience 3 issues: he preferred inspecting the property alone (i.e. without me), instances of poor communication and missed (property) issues. I'll start with the simplest issue: he preferred inspecting the property alone. While setting up the appointment, I asked whether I could attend the inspection (I wanted to see what areas of the property he focused on so that I could watch out for them in the future). He told me that he preferred to inspect the property alone and that he preferred to meet only for the final report. (I have since asked around and many inspectors will allow the client to follow them during the inspection.) In regards to poor communication, there were a couple of instances. After going through the online scheduler via Yelp, Mike returned my call (between noon and 1 PM) to tell me that he was returning from out of town, that he would check his schedule, and that he would call again to finalize an appointment. I did not realize that meant that he would call again the morning after. In another instance, I has settled on a compromise with Mike to show up to the inspection one hour after he started his walkthrough, which would give him time to set up and get started. He had promised to text me when he had started that morning (that way I could time my arrival), but I never received that text. After not hearing from him that morning, I arrived at the property 30 minutes before the end of the inspection. Lastly, missed property issues. The biggest missed issue was 'water' damage of baseboards and carpeting in multiple locations in a bedroom (likely a pet was housed and potty trained there). The baseboards and carpet were discolored and mold had started to grow. (The previous homeowner 'hid' the issue with furniture.) Also, Mike indicated that he was not able to turn on a light, but the light did in fact work. As part of the roof inspection, Mike worked with a roofer, who snapped pictures of our roof with a drone. Great idea, but the 3-4 photos we received were all taken from a distance. Lastly, the inspection report I received was thinner/lighter than other inspection reports I compared to (after the fact, I asked my homeowner friends for their inspection reports to compare - I realized I should have used their inspectors instead). Those things said, Mike did find important issues during his inspection, such as with an inoperative heater. read more

Mr. Martin responded to my initial inquiry within 30 minutes and I was able to easily book my appointment with him over a few quick texts. We had issues getting into the home initially but he was able to get started on the home exterior while we waited for the keys to the property.
