This is the second time I have contacted Allguard for pest control assistance. The first required massive amounts of work to rid the attic of rats but Allguard succeeded. They were prompt, professional, and capable each time they came to the house throughout the treatment process. This time we called for assistance with what we thought were chiggers. The technician did a very thorough investigation and inspection of the infected area was able to identify the problem as bird mites. A couple days ago I started hearing something in my attic early in the morning. I decided it was time to look into it. I checked Yelp for a highly rated exterminator service. It looks like Allguard termite and pest control would probably be my best bet. My wife called to find out when somebody could come out to check out my attic. The woman on the phone was cordial and polite. She told my wife that somebody was in the area today. The inspectors name is James, And he would be in the area at this time of day. James called my wife to let her know he ran into a little bit of traffic and would be about late. In a few minutes after he arrived he was in the attic assessing the situation. After about 20 minutes he told my wife, he could see no signs of any activity. He had showed my wife pictures he had taken with his cell phone. My wife asked if he could send the pictures to me, to reassure me everything was all right. He said he would send them. When I receive the pictures on my cell phone, I called his phone number from the text I received. When I tried to call him to discuss the situation, as I was at work, the phone Number I called redirected me to his office. The woman answered the phone was very helpful and understanding. She told me if I call my wife at home James would still be there. I called my home to talk to James,and he reassured me that there was no activity, and told me that if I had any concerns in the future he would be happy to reinspect our home. This is a company that has it's customers best interest. After the inspection, my wife asked what we owed him for his services. James said there would be no charge, he would only ask that he would be able to help us out with any problems in the future. Before I found Allguard, I called around a bit more locally, since this is our second home in Carpinteria, while our main home is in Burbank. I called Allguard Termite & Pest Control two days ago looking for a pesticide company who was customer-service oriented, reliable, with a good standing in their reputation, and very knowledgeable in the services they provide. I've used other pest control companies in the past and for one reason or another, haven't been impressed with the services provided. I was immediately taken back by friendliness and professionalism of the guy who answered my call (Steve). I explained what I wanted done (re: perimeter and some additional exterior pesticide control), he immediately let me know he completely understood my request, quoted me a firm and fair price, and then a girl (Avery, I believe) set up an appointment for me for just two days later at a time in the afternoon that I had requested and that she was able to accommodate for me. The guy (Jeff) showed up today right on time. He was pleasant, courteous, had been fully advised by Steve in advance as to what I wanted done (I hate it when I have to repeat what I want and need when the actual service guys come out because nobody conveyed any direction to them), and then immediately proceeded to do the job quickly, thoroughly, and efficiently. He was very pleasant, customer-service oriented, and was professional both in his appearance and behavior. I would not hesitate to call Allguard for any of my future pest control needs nor would I hesitate to recommend them. Oh, and by the way, they did not try to pressure me, in any way at all, into signing up for automatic monthly service the way most pesticide companies do. Recently had my house tented hired Allguard Termite and Pest Control and they subcontracted the work to Socal Fumigation who came in broke my fence, left a dent in my garage door, and just had a total lack of respect for my things inside my house. Socal Fumigation is partially to blame, but more importantly Allguard Is to blame for this because they hired Socal Fumigation to do the service. For a company that claims to be veteran owned an operated they don't seem to take any pride in their work because if they did they would hire better people to represent them In subcontracting out work or at least double check the companies work you subcontracted. Do yourself a favor if you need your house fumigated find a reputable company that stands by their work and that wont fish it out to other companies or your possession/property might get damaged like mine did. I am extremely picky about my home and cars.... I really have a hard time letting someone in that I really don't know especially when it seems to be a new employee every service cycle. I usually get a vibe the moment I call a new company for any type of service. I chose to look at Yelp this time around and read several reviews on the many pest control providers. After reading Allguard's reviews, I noticed a trend. I noticed that the words "great customer service" appears several times. I also noticed Matt's name kept coming up. These are two very important aspects of a good business. Customer service is huge! I want to know that even if I am picky, my service provider is going to do everything they can to make it right for me, Allguard's reviews seem to reflect that value. When you read multiple reviews and an outstanding employees name keeps appearing in the reviews, that says more about the company than any review does. It says that the company cares about the employees enough that they recognizes who makes the company grow and the employees feel appreciated enough to stick around and continue to make the company thrive.(less employee turnover rate) That being said, I called this morning at 9:00 am and talked to Kathy. I have to admit, she was very pleasant and energized! I asked when would be the soonest they could have someone come to my home and give and estimate. Kathy set an appointment for 10:00 the same day! Guess who she is sending, Matt! Lets see if Matt is really what everyone is talking so big about. So far I have to give the initial contact and set up five stars. The initial customer service portion was excellent.Oh trust me, I asked Kathy several questions and threw her a couple curve balls. She didn't try to BS me when she didn't know something, she simply said "Matt will be able to answer that when he arrives" I like that! When you honestly don't know, either find out or refer to someone who does..... I will do an additional review after Matt arrives..... 10:01 Matt knocks at my door. I was kinda wondering if all his reviews were from women who thought he was a David Gandy look a like (famouse male model) but Nah, He is a normal hard working kinda guy. When he introduced himself he is soft spoken and well spoken. He explained the process in a very easy to understand way with no BS. He also took the time to explain the chemical process and what I should expect to see over the next couple days. We walked my yards and inside the house I was able to show him areas that I was seeing ants, I never felt like he was in a hurry to get to the next job and that my house was what was on his mind. Matt has the ability to reassure even the most difficult that they can do the job. I signed up immediately. Look at it this way, I called at 9:00 am by 10:00 I had a tech at my front door by 10:30 I signed bimonthly agreement and my house was being serviced. If you are really serious and want to have a good company help solve your rodent issues, give them a chance, all you have to lose is all your pests. HOMEOWNERS BEWARE!!! Our Real Estate Agents recommended that Allguard do our termite inspection and repairs, as recommended by their broker. John Ortega did the inspection--"This isn't serious. It's in good shape. Nothing in the attic." Sounded good until we received the estimate of $940. I called the owner, Steve, and said I was going to obtain other bids. He said, "I deserve that work." He agreed to meet me with John later in the week to review the work. In the meantime I received other bids WITH FREE INSPECTIONS. John showed up for the appointment, but Steve was a no show. I placed my business with another company and saved over 33%. I'm giving them a five star review. Onto the Better Business Bureau site--No Mercy! Matt came out for our inspection and quote. He checked the wall and the area above the wall in the attic for termite invasion. He also checked the outside of our home around the infected wall and eves, and l found some wood rot that I hadn't noticed. Scheduled service was done in about 50 minutes and was, IMO reasonable compared to other quotes. Matt also explained about the insecticide and levels used and how it worked to eliminate the termites.
