On day 3 of getting a new home, I had toilets plunging and backing into the shower. My home warranty scheduled Advanced Plumbing & Rooter Services. Initially I was off-put by looking at the reviews, however my experience was great. The dispatcher was understanding over the phone, while I wish they could have sent someone out immediately, they put me down for the first timeslot the next morning. David was a consummate professional, he was able to quickly identify the issue and clear the line. He took his time to make sure to clear out as much as he could and answered all my questions. My pilot light kept going out on my water heater so I filed a claim with my home warranty company (American Home Shield). There were only 2 options & this one had better reviews than the other. Tech came out on a Friday, relit the pilot without issue. He turned it off again as he said the burner plates needed to be cleaned. He cleaned them, lit pilot & left. By Monday, the pilot was out again & there was a faint smell of gas in my garage. PG&E came out, said there was a minor leak like maybe a bolt just needed to be replaced but nothing major or dangerous. They also said the burner plates might need to be replaced as they were old (water heater is old). I reopened my claim & the plumber said they'd come back but couldn't get to me for another 5 days. I was angry of course because your tech was just here & didn't fix the issue, so silly me for thinking they'd come back sooner. The same tech came back, I told him what PG&E said, gave him the paper from PG&E saying what they found & his response was "no, they're wrong." The tech took everything apart, put it back together & said "your unit is just old & needs replacement." He submitted a work order to the warranty company who said his recommendation would require me to pay $1,900 out of pocket as I needed my gas line replaced, the permits, etc. On top of that, the smell of gas was EVEN STRONGER THAN BEFORE. I called a completely diff. plumber to come out, paid out of pocket for him to look at it, & he said there was a part on the front that wasn't properly fitted which was causing the gas to seep out in the air. He replaced the one part & my water heater has worked just fine ever since. Pilot hasn't gone out again, no gas smell, water is hot as heck. That was 3 weeks ago! So I only ended up spending $200 as opposed to the $1,900 this company told me I'd need to spend to fix the issue. He was very knowledgeble, professional, prompt, Friendly and easy to talk to. He repaired the pipes and I haven't any any issues now. I had a home warranty claim for our water heater and this company was assigned to us. It was an awful experience. The first person came out to take a look an did something with a valve without connecting a hose and squirted dirty water EVERYWHERE!! It was an absolute mess--we even had to scrub our ceiling and wash shoes. There was no apology or anything. The second guy came out to actually "fix" the problem but when he changed out the part, the problem we were having continued. It was still making a loud noise and he insisted that was normal, but it wasn't because it had never made that noise before. The worst part was that he suggested we flush out the water heater (a maintenance service not covered by the warranty) and because we *thought* the unit was fixed, we paid the $250 for it. Well it turns out that the whole water heater needs to be replaced now so we paid the $250 out of pocket and they refuse to give us our money back. We only did the service cause he said it was fixed but it felt like they cheated us out of our money. Save yourself the trouble and choose someone else. read more

This is a terrible company which has cost us time and money which we did not need to spend. Their internal communication is almost non-existent. I have spoken with several agents over the phone identifying what our issue was, all of which said they would leave notes for the technician. The notes included what my issue was, what would be required to complete the job, directions to my house, etc. The technician showed up to our house not having received ANY of these notes, and was completely unprepared. He spent the whole visit "discovering" what we already told the dispatchers over the phone. After the visit, we were told we would receive a follow up call to identify next steps. We did not receive that follow up call, and when I called back in, I was told that the solution to the problem was the very thing I identified with very agents before our call. They informed me that these services would be quoted outside of my home warranty. Had the initial agents communicated with me properly, I would not have scheduled this appointment, and would not have paid my home warranty for the service. They wasted my time and money, and have told me they will refuse the refund I am going to request from my home warranty program. All in all, this is a terrible company that is walking away with my money without having done anything for me. UPDATE EDIT: After having 2 additional parties (including the a city technician) both parties have concluded that Advanced Plumbing's diagnosis was flat out incorrect. Terrible, terrible experience with this company. I urge anyone reading this to heed the other negative reviews, they are trying to warn you. We were matched with this company through our home warranty to fix the water pressure to our house and yard. The reps on the phone told us that it was a standard procedure, that they could fix it and would bring the parts they need, and that it was within the scope of coverage. The plumber arrived without any parts, without any idea of what our job was, and just wandered around our property for 30 minutes looking for pipes, only to inform us that he couldn't find what he needed and would need to modify the city regulator at our street. He didn't even think to look under our house where the pipes are? Also, modifying a city pipe is NOT a good idea! Who did they send to our house?? He said that he needed to go back to his managers to figure out what to do, and later we were given a bill for nearly a grand to do the wrong job. Thankfully we did not do this or we may have had a bigger liability than we bargained for. We called Craig Johnson Plumbing & Drain Service who got us a next day appointment, knew exactly what to do when they arrived, finished the job in less than 3 hours and at a reasonable price. Give them your business instead. In reading the mixed reviews here I have noticed somewhat of a trend: sent via home warranty = bad experience. Called direct (aka charges a lot) = good experience. I'm speculating that whatever arrangement they have with home warranty services is not valuable enough for them to do good work on your home. Beware. It's evident to us now that this company said whatever we needed to hear on the phone for them to send a tech out. They wanted to scam the home warranty company out of money, knowing full well that they would charge us for a big job later. Had a shower-related issue (shower control and shower head not working properly) so was connected with this company through our home warranty company. As people may be aware, home warranty companies have relationships with local vendors, so in my specific case, Advanced Plumbing & Rooter Service was selected for the work. All the staff I interacted (Autumn for scheduling, David and Michael - service technicians) with were friendly, informative, and good with communication. Their office was informative in helping me work with my home warranty company to get the appropriate part ordered, and even confirmed with me before ordering the replacement part. I've had bad experiences with vendors that are assigned by a home warranty company, but this was a great experience with Advanced Plumbing & Rooter Service. If I have a plumbing-related issue in the future, I'm going to request this vendor through my home warranty company. Note, because all the work was done through my home warranty company, all labor, materials, and overall service was covered by the home warranty company. That makes for a seamless experience too since there isn't 'out-of-pocket' costs to me. read more

I called and the appointment lady kept telling me we probably need a clean out put in for 600$ which had me very suspicious since she was not at my house, is not a Plummer and didn't know the issue. We still had them come out to check and the guy said he couldn't help us unless we had them put in a clean out for 600$. He literally told me he could not fix the clog without putting in a clean out. It was so manipulative and wrong and the information WAS NOT TRUE. IT IS A SCAM & to do it is so messed up. I hope we can help someone from getting scammed by them. We then called 5 star plumbing they are amazing and honest - came right out and fixed the clog. Never once suggested us paying crazy amounts of money for something we didn't need. The home warranty company (Fidelity National) sent the plumbers from Advanced Plumbing to my house, THREE times to repair a simple running toilet issue. They never fixed the toilet charged me $295 and wasted hours of my time, Since the home warranty company refused to use another plumbing service, I cancelled my warranty with Fidelity National and hired a plumber that a friend recommended and he repaired my toilet in less than five minutes, didn't want to charge me (I paid him anyway), was friendly, professional, knowledge and excellent at his job. He could see how desperate I was for a hot shower having just spent a full day on an airplane. Thus, he came back on Saturday to replace it. Do not call this company. We were assigned this company using our home warranty. At the time of booking they were a week out I took the first available appointment of 9-1 time slot. I took the morning off from work to be available. I was contacted at 9:15 and advised the technician called in sick and would need to reschedule. Not a big deal things happen rescheduled for Wednesday 1-4 time slot. Took afternoon off work to wait for them. At about 3 I had not heard anything so I contacted the company to make sure someone was still coming. I was assured that I was the next stop and they would call me back when they could reach the tech about arrival time. 4:30 still no call back so I reached out again and got voicemail. At 5:30 the tech assigned to me called and said he was still running behind and can we reschedule for first thing in the morning. He assured me I would be his first stop. My wife takes the morning off from work to wait for them. 9:30 no word so I called the office and asked about timing and was told there was no technician in my area today and no one would be coming. When I asked why I was told someone would be here first thing I was told the technician had no Control of his schedule. When I asked why I was the one reaching out and no one had called to advise the office manager told me they had no idea the technician did not come the day before. I have no idea how this company stays in business but honestly worst customer service experience I have ever had. No respect for my time. I have asked to be reassigned to a new vendor through the home warranty and advised them they should not be working with this company. read more

This is a family owned business. I had sewer line insurance and the insurance company used Advanced Plumbing for doing plumbing repair. Spencer was the tech and he could not have worked harder. Once the insurance company signed off on the job and they started working it only took 2 days to trenchlessly replace the sewer line. They scheduled for a week out then called the day of the appointment to cancel and reschedule for a week later. I should have said forget it because warranty company wouldn't authorize me to go to a good company instead since there was an appointment on the books. Week later, they NO SHOWED AGAIN! After I waited two weeks for service on this emergency appointment. They called and said it would be Monday then NO SHOWED AGAIN!!! Dispatchers have no clue where technician is. They also do dirty tricks when you get a leak in there plumbing ( and you will) I've have has several since they put in a re rought plumbing Job ( which took 2 time to pass inspection) They had to keep coming back to fix things to pass. They then sent Tim And Chris out to check a leak in my attic. These guys are both crooks! They tried to spray my roof with a my hose to produce a leak so they could try and blame it on the roof or HVAC unit . However when that didn't work they then took the hose and spayed water directly into my roof fan vent... They also bullied my tenant and tried to make her act as though she was a witness to the damp area they created by pouring water directly into the roof fan vent . It was insane she explained. She asked me if they were even real plummers? Basically I already had a inspection video of the area and the pipe that was found leaking from the roofer that did in fact inspect the area and found the pipe leak. He video taped it and sent it to me and sent a written report as well outline the pipe connection was leaking at the elbow and causing the sheet rock to get saturated in the bedroom celining and finally it colasped . These bozo's didn't however accept the video nor the written report stating the indepent inspection and send Chris and Tim over 5 days later.. After there after there plumber has already recrimpper the pipe and stopped the leak. So in trying to prove it wasn't there's fault ( which it was) They to pour water on my roof . When this didn't present any leaks they then doused my roof fan vent with the hose to try to say that it was infact leaking there. However the video I have from the day it actually leaked 5 day prior .. already showed that area was dry and not part of the initial leak or even in the area where the damp area was . AND Chris especially is ready to argue with your before he even know what's going on HR's very aggressive argumentative and extremely defensive and rude. His job is basically blame the customer first and double talk (He really is like a sleazy used car sales man type ) So be very leary of using thos so call plumbing company! They are horrible to deal with , do shotty syb standard work , don't stand behind there work , stoop to dirty tricks to get out of there responsibly to fix damage caused by their sub par plumbing. And you never want to have to deal with they flippant aggressive argumetive uneducated staff like Chis and Tim ... Advanced Plumbing & Rooter services was called out as a "second visit" after Budget Rooter failed to properly diagnose the problem and then decided they didn't want the job. George showed up, quickly and easily diagnosed the problem, left to get parts, came back and fixed it all in the same day. Day of the scheduled appointment they called to reschedule, not for the next day, but put me at the back of the line for over a week later when it was convenient for them. Yesterday, the appointment for the fix was scheduled. They were a complete no show. Called to say running late then no show no call. Did not call me today to reschedule. I had to call them and talked to a dispatcher and she was beyond rude and combative and lied about calling me (I had no missed calls so she didn't call, period). I recently had to use this company because it's what my Home warranty allowed. Even thought the employee who came out to fix my shower was very nice. It took over 2 1/2 months to fix a dripping shower head. Then they replaced my shower handle with the wrong one and refused to get the correct one. My home warranty company assigned this plumbing company to come out and fix our tankless water heater. Our water heater is malfunctioning and stops providing hot water while showering. The alarm goes off and the error code number 10 flashes on the screen. We've learned that we can reset it and it provides hot water for another 3-5 minutes then the process repeats itself. We've been dealing with this since July 16th. The first plumbing company that came out apparently doesn't work on tankless water heaters. Advanced Plumbing was then assigned. Advanced Plumbing sent out their techs on August 2nd. They called the water heater support line and discussed the error code and how to handle it. After following the support person's instructions it did not resolve the issue. They told me that was the limit of their abilities and they would have to send out a senior tech. That was scheduled for August 16th. On the 16th they called and told me the tech was having truck problems and would not be able to make the appointment. They rescheduled for today, the 18th. I called this morning to confirm they were coming out and I was told they were still having truck problems and would not be able to come out. What? They only have one truck? I asked if I could speak to a manager or the owner. I was told they were not in. I asked if I could have their number so I could call. She told me she could not give out his number. Understandable. I asked if she could give him our information and number and have him call me. Her response? She hung up on me! I called back and asked, "did you hang up on me?" Without a single word, she hung up on me again! My wife called back. My wife explained who she was and she yelled at my wife, "Oh my God, quit calling me!" I had an HVAC company experience years ago and thought that was the worse experience I'd ever had. This beats it 10 fold. Customer service is the foundation of any company that provides any kind of service. As a customer, I've never been treated worse than this! Avoid this company and avoid the frustration and stress! Any other plumbing company has to be more reputable than Advanced Plumbing! In addition, I am looking into home warranty company options. We've been dealing with this hot water issue for more than a month and my home warranty company, American Home Shield, has been a huge disappointment in helping me deal with this. read more

Advanced Plumbing was contracted by American Home Shield. The woman you answered the phone and scheduled service was rude and condescending each time I spoke to her. The technician who came out, spent 45 minutes in his truck on the phone after taking photos of our water heater and said it needed flushed when there was actually nothing wrong with the water heater, the softener, however, was visibly broken. He was going to charge AHS to "fix" a water heater because that's what they covered. When I tried to call and talk to them, I was met with rude, condescending, and a no show technician on the day of scheduled service to "fix" a water heater that wasn't broken. They claimed not to fix softeners. They were paid $75 and told the warranty company they completed service so they would get paid, after I canceled service. They are the worst! read more

UPDATE: Hired a real plumber and the mess under our sink was very shoddy work done by the greedy non-plumber our home warranty company sent. It will cost us another $400-$500 to have it all re-done correctly. Please be wary of this company. They are rude, unprofessional and truly do not know what they are doing. Our $600 pipes that were put in in November under the sink have fallen apart and flooded the kitchen. Shoddy work by this terrible company. Would never recommend, The warranty company keeps wanting to send them to us so I don't know if they are relatives or they are getting kickbacks from these jerks. My water heater burst and leaked water in my garage for a few hours. I called Chris that morning, he came out within 20 minutes, assesses the issues, drained the water tank, and immediately went to pick up a brand new water heater tank. He came back within a couple hours and installed a new water heater tank in the same day. Amazing work. It was raining and he wanted to make sure we had hot water for my family. I'm grateful for him and his work. Honestly he went above and beyond to help me during this emergency with a flooded garage. For me it was a safety issue not only for customers, but also my employees. They called right at the beginning of the time frame to arrive, saying they had to cancel due to "something came up with the technician". Seems to be an on-going trend after reading some of these reviews. Water heater work was done decently well as it passed inspection. Problem is with the business practices. Inflated prices on items that aren't covered under home warranty, for example $80 for 3 small pieces of PVC pipe and 5 minutes of work with the addition of a condescending explanation of the mark up. Simply put, George is the man. We had a main line stoppage. The initial plumber that inspected the issue said we needed a new two-way cleanout put in.
