Had no idea what caused this large water leak so I got ahold of our home warranty company. They ended up sending out J&L Plumbing to check out our problem. I believe David is who came out and he called me when he was a little closer, 30 mins away, showed up promptly and prepared. He even had booties on! This was nice because some people don't like shoes worn in their house and I found it very respectful too. David asked what and where the problem was, told him our situation, and he brought his ladder to check out our ceiling pulling the fire sprinkler cap off (this where the leak was near) to see what was causing the leak. Then we showed him our bathroom which he did a great and thorough job checking all areas that could be wet. He also ran our shower going back downstairs to see if he could catch any water leaking which he didn't. After about 30 minutes of inspecting he figured what caused the leak and stain through the ceiling was our recent job with our caulking. How embarrassing! It was a huge relief to know we had no actual plumbing or fire suppression system issues. However, after this recent DIY job we pumped the breaks and just had my dad (who has experience) redo all our caulking! Lol. David was extremely helpful, kind and a breeze to work with. How many have had that plumbing emergency right at a holiday or weekend? Well us too the day before…read moreThanksgiving. A leak was discovered in our Hydronic system residing in our attic. It was a pinhole size leak in the Pex that sprayed also causing damage to our ceiling. We are prior victims at another residence to a toilet hose coming free from the fitting draining 13k gallons of water to our upper story so we have water PTSD to say the least. After pumping water from the pan into buckets up and down a ladder into the attic for hours, I wrapped the leak with plumbing tape to slow it and waited for our home warranty assistant to find a plumber to help. The earliest appointment was for the following Monday which was (5) more days away. I called numerous plumbing companies, most didn't answer the phone. I'm sure because of the Holiday. I continued to bucket out water every 3-4 hours and we slept very little through the next day after also hosting numerous guests for dinner. On Friday, I continued to call around and begged the home warranty staff to try and find someone as this was to the point of just turning off the water to our home and leaving. No one was available sooner according to the scheduler. I then had the best fortune of reaching out to NEWWRX Plumbing and was contacted by Mike Little who made us an appointment for the following morning. Service Technician Juan Rodriguez was at our home first thing and went to work making the repair. He was courteous, knowledgeable about our system and what was needed to fix it. He was experienced and was someone I immediately knew I could trust to do the job right. I have a few other future projects in the works and they will be my "go-to" for business. After a couple of weeks of disasters with two visits from plumbers our home warranty sent. We decided to find our own here on Yelp. 1st Call Plumbing looked promising, so we called them. Mike is very personable and instilled confidence from the get-go. He listened carefully on the phone and asked pertinent questions, scheduling us in for a quick visit the following morning. We are short on cash and had already checked what the average cost of sewage line replacement was and the various options available. We discussed whether I could dig the trench and have them remove and replace the line. Was given a very nice quote on the understanding that I do a good job digging to their specifications. It took me all my spare time over a few days. Again, Mike was excellent. I didn't have to chase him or even ask. He called one morning and stopped by in between jobs to check my progress. He estimated when I would be done. Did a follow up visit the day before and saw I had pretty much finished. When I was done and gave him a call, he had already penciled us in for the following morning. Mike is punctual and, on all occasions, came exactly when he said he would. To install the new sewer line, he brought his work partner of 25 years Carlos. They are good buddies and between them did all the work quickly and competently. I am happy to say that our sewer line has been working flawlessly for the last 3 weeks. I have no problems recommending First Call Plumbing. Mike was fair and honest from the get-go. This is the rare instance where the star-rating depends on my viewpoint…read more First, I want to acknowledge that Ace Plumbing was one of the few companies that I contacted that was willing to take on the job. I had a landscape pipe that was no longer draining our water feature. Most companies will not touch landscape piping because the pipe that is often used may be easily damaged by a power-driven drain auger. Second, the customer service representative that I reached by telephone was both courteous and professional. She scheduled a same-day appointment with a 2-hour window and she told me the plumber would contact me when he was on the way--which he did. Josh arrived with an assistant. When I explained the problem and showed him the two blocked water feature drains, he told me that assuming he could open the drain the cost would be $300. And that is all he told me. I agreed to the price even though it seemed high. I had already rented an electric augur from Home Depot and I had failed to clear the pipe so I didn't have many options. Josh got right to work. Between his electric drain augur and a high-pressure water-powered drain cleaner, Josh succeeded in opening the main landscape line--sort of. But he was unable to clear the water feature pipes. However, by using pressurized water, he discovered what appeared to be a broken line as the water bubbled up under a hydrangea. So the repair of the pipe was on me. What about the other water feature drain? Josh could not clear that pipe or determine if there was a leak. He admitted that he did not know what the problem was partly because he did not know (and neither did I) how the drain system had been laid out. Josh offered me a 10% discount for failing to clear the one pipe. However, shortly after Josh left, I noticed that when I put a hose in the main landscape line, the water backed up. The line had not been fully cleared. I immediately called the office in the hope of contacting Josh before he got too far down the road. Again, the office person was extremely professional. She put me on a brief hold and came back on the line to tell me that Josh would be calling me soon. In less than a minute, my phone was ringing. Josh insisted that the main line had been cleared, but that I could not really expect the water to run out as quickly as it might have done when the pipe was first installed. And here is where ACE Plumbing drops two stars. Josh *then* informed me that ACE Plumbing does not guarantee any work done on drain lines. He did not inform me of this fact before the job, but only after I called to express my concern. He told me he could return the next day to again work on the line, but that he would have to charge me. I was not inclined to add to an almost $300 price tag for work that ACE Plumbing would not stand behind. Nevertheless, Josh had showed me how it was done. So I purchased the Drain King and cleared the main line myself. I dug up the broken pipe only to find that the pipe was not broken. The pipe terminated in the dirt rather than in a French drain. I dug up the other pipe and discovered the same problem. So despite the cost and the after-the-fact claim that ACE Plumbing does not guarantee any work done on a drain pipe, I have added back a star because Josh did show me the way to resolve the problem even if he never intended to do so.
