Our 45 year old windows were leaving us hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Karl was very helpful when he was taking measurements, and gave us recommendations. We chose Plygem windows and are happy with how well they look on our old home. Unfortunately Plygem made two of the windows incorrectly, which luckily was spotted by Sergio, our installer, before he took out the old window. But it did cause the project to drag out another three weeks. I can't say enough nice things about the installers, they went out of their way to make sure everything was spotless and in order before they left. We purchased a home in Valley Center a few years back with Milgard windows. They are only 1-15 years old, but are very hard to open and one of the brackets broke completely. Their work LOOKS nice but the quality is lacking. I have had my windows and doors since Feb. 2016 and so far all the screen doors have broken. The materials are super cheap. The locks on the windows constantly break which means I can't open or close the windows depending on what position they are in when the window breaks. Do yourself a favor and shop around. read more

The disgruntled employee did not walk off the job. He was forced to quit after his boss texted his brother saying "if you don't go caulk these windows you are quitting". Then continued to claim "you are not a doctor you won't make more money" "glaziers cap at $20" "I know you don't understand what a bonus is". All of this, and more, was said after a response saying we do not feel comfortable doing this job without my injured dad who has worked there for over 20 years (with no benefits, steady wage, retirement) could not go with us. We weren't given any chances for the 2 years I was there or the 6 years my brother was there. It's honestly unbelievable how you can say I don't know how to run a business when you don't even know how to treat your employees. The way you and your husband responded to a 19 and 23 year old was truly disgusting and childish. We NEVER asked for money not even when I was getting payed $10 an hour doing extremely dangerous stuff. We never asked for anything or gave any problems and out of those 1000's of happy clients how many where happy because of us? I know the true prices of glass and windows and everything you do so how can you tell me you are not taking advantage any time you can, and for your own benefit because your employees can't live a livable wage. They were a no show at their appointment time and she claims that I entered it in my calendar a day prior to my "scheduled" appointment time. I know I did not. Our screen door got trashed after someone walked thru it 3 times.. (it was funny the 1st time-- the 2nd and 3rd.. not so much) Alicia told me she could get me replacement parts if I ever needed her services.. She helped me find the "code" number plate located inbetween the glass panels and this gave her the correct measurements of the replacement screen door for a perfect fit. Super quick turn around! We had over 52 windows/sliding doors installed over 12 years ago. Some seals failed and Advanced Windows replaced them with only charging for labor and not materials. No charges at all to us for windows covered by the original warranty of 5 years (parts and labor). Work was done in a very professional way by a great team of guys. We decided to have 14 additional new windows installed in our duplex rental property. Great work and fair price. These new windows now have a lifetime warranty. I got bids from and researched windows from about 9 different companies. It took me maybe 8 months to decide what window company and vendor for my whole house of 14 large windows and 4 8 ft sliding doors. I picked Advanced Window because they had the best prices, and Alicia always promptly answered my questions and followed up on my queries, and instilled my confidence that Certainteed/Plygem had the best product for my money. I bought my windows when Plygem was just taking over Certainteed, and was worried about how Plygem handled warranty issues (which Alica could not answer because she had no experience with Plygem). Alica gave me names of customers that dealt with Plygem on warranty claims, so I could ask them. Alicia was always there for me. Installation was very fast and professional, and they replaced a screen that got damaged in delivery, and also moved my vertical blind rails out, to accommodate the thicker windows, at no charge, when other companies wanted to charge me money for the extra labor. My only dissatisfaction is Carl (Alicia's husband) only measured the windows and wrote up to replace the existing window configurations that the developer was short sighted on. Carl did not suggest for me to consider that I do not need the large kitchen picture window to have one side slide open OX, because it is only 2 inches to the left is an 8 ft sliding door that opens X0 right next to the kitchen picture window. He could have suggested that the kitchen window not open and be seamless, so that I do not have the very bulky frame and the thick vertical window frame dividing my kitchen picture window view in half. The frame for windows that slide open is substantially bulkier than windows that don't. If you do nto need your window to open, why obstruct your view? When this two-part kitchen window was installed, I saw how overwhelming the frame bulk was, and with thick bulky vertical vinyl splitting the "view " (180 degree unobstructed view of Laguna Mountains) in half. The vinyl bulk in a window that slides open is substantially bulkier than one that does not open. I was so unhappy with this that I paid another $681 to have that window replaced to one that does not open, and took a loss on the one Carl wrote me up for. Now I have a new big kitchen picture window to put on Craigslist, but I am so happy with my decision to change my picture window to a seamless view, with thinner vinyl frame. I wish Carl had suggested this to me, so I do not have to take a $681 loss. Also Carl did not suggest that I would have better cross ventilation if I reverse the side of one of the windows upstairs to OX instead of the existing XO, which I learned from another window bidder. Carl just wrote up my estimate to copy "what was originally there", instead of thinking of ways a new configuration could make improvements to living comfort and enjoyment, that does not cost the buyer any more. So to me, Carl does not think from a designer or engineering mind, he just replicates what is there and copies down his measurements. Get lots of bids, because you learn a lot from other representatives who have ideas of doing things better, that I never thought of, due to lack of experience and knowledge of the product as it looks after installation, when I already paid over $14,000 and cannot get a refund. Hence I am giving Advanced Window four stars instead of 5, but I would do business with this company again, no hesitation, and I am one picky and discriminating buyer who does lots of research and does not make impulsive decisions. 1 star for the plygem window product that Advanced Windows carries. Otherwise, I can't say enough to stay away from this devious business. The crew was rude, never once introduced themselves to us, they trekked mud through the house and made no attempt to clean before they left, bunched a rug into a corner because apparently it was in their way, they chipped one of the bathtubs but their team said they didn't so that was that, chipped the dry wall above the window (must have been there too!). We were having them install two large bedroom windows, 2 small bathroom windows, 1 static entry way window and a sliding door. Quoted us a day of installation took three weeks to complete (on top of the 6 weeks it took to order the windows; quoted 3 weeks!). Windows were put on the first day nicely, no scuff marks or the sealant remanence, but boy oh boy we had issue after issue with the sliding door. They installed the door wrong, the stucco that they used didn't match the house (despite the numerous conversations and pictures that they requested to match the existing stucco color - their response was that the contract said no paint. Ok, why on earth would I think if you were color matching the stucco that I would then want you to paint it?) and on top of that they kept telling me a base coat and texture was all they were doing and the texture looks great! After we PAID someone else to paint, it was apparent that the texture was crap. They got stucco all over our brand new pavers, which actually had to be replaced; we tried to pressure wash numerous times but there was tape permanently stuck under the stucco on the pavers so there was no salvaging. After a number of complaints, they attempted to fix some of issues, like installing the door properly. However, towards the end of the three weeks, we felt they were not addressing our concerns and were hiding behind language in the contract that I as a common consumer would not know to question. My last straw was they sent contractors to trespass on our property without permission. All in all, stay away from this business; they produce low quality work with low quality workers and purposefully provide misinformation. read more

I've used Advanced Window twice, for two different houses and both jobs turned out great and were priced very reasonably considering all windows were custom sizes. I've noticed a big difference in both comfort and heating bills since getting new windows. No complaints other than the windows took much longer to be delivered than originally estimated, both times. I'd still use them a third time for sure, but would anticipate a longer delivery time than quoted. read more

I had a problem with dual pane windows that had a decoration between the glass becoming dislodged. My HOA wrote up the discrepancy so I had to get it fixed. These guys were able to give me such a good price on the replacement window that I decided to also replace the other windows in the house that had the goop between the dual pane glass oozing out (I suspect from the heat). Our home had 25 glass units that needed to be replaced due to the seals failing, 17 windows and 8 sliders, this was a manufacturing defect from the manufacturer. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that Advanced Window was an installer that they used for our area. I called Advanced Window in early August 2017 and left a message. When I hadn't heard back from them after about 4 days I called again and left a message telling them that I really would like to give them first right of refusal for our job since PlyGem had referred them. Alicia finally returned my call. She arranged for Carl her husband to meet us at our home. Carl confirmed that indeed the window seals had failed and due to the warranty they were eligible for replacement. We also had a track in one of the sliders that needed replacing and Carl said he would included that as part of the job. Carl measured the windows and they were ordered from PlyGem. Once the windows were received installation commenced. The installer brought to our attention that some of the windows were mismeasured and did fit correctly. Three of those windows broke on installation and the 4th cracked a few days later. Half way thru the job Alicia asked for partial payment for the windows that had been installed. Although the terms of the agreement are "upon completion" we agreed to pay a partial of the partial, withholding a small retainer hoping this would speed up the process. Once the new windows arrived installation was scheduled. Once those windows were finally installed we did a walk thru with the installer pointing out that some of the windows did not lock now and one of the sliders was banging against something when it was opened. Also...we were still waiting for the track to be replaced having been told that they could not find the part in their warehouse. At this point Alicia called me and said that they would need to order the lock mechanism from PlyGem and that they were still trying to locate a track, without skipping a beat she asked for full payment on the balance due. I told her I would call back and give Holly payment information. My husband and I decided to retain $500 until we were satisfied with the work. I told Holly to bill our credit card for the balance less $500. At this point Alicia gets on the phone with me and proceeds to tell me that I cannot do that. I explained to her that I was looking at the invoice and the terms were very clear, the total due was "upon completion" I reminded her that the job was not complete. She got very angry and demanded full payment or she would not accept payment! I giggled to myself and said "okay then, we won't pay" I said "Alicia you can either accept the payment I am offering or nothing at all, it is your choice" She decided something was better than nothing. Interestingly enough 5 minutes after I settled that payment with Holly I received a call back, miraculously the locks and track had been found and they could come out the very next day and finish the job! I was then told that they would only accept a check for the final $500 that they wanted me to leave for the installer. Again I giggled and said to Holly "no, I will be paying by credit card when my husband and I are satisfied with the locks and track" It comes across as if Advanced Window has some difficulty managing their finances if they so desperately need this $500 payment. It's not like we aren't going to pay for the work, we just want the work to be complete to our satisfaction. So after starting this process in early August, we are finally complete by mid November. Bottom line, I cannot and will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

One Star because the limited work they did was fine. Only One Star because dealing with this company was an awful experience that left us worse off than if we had never dealt with them. This company neither fixed most the windows we hired them to repair nor completed the rest of the job they were hired to do. Carl, the owner, stormed out, leaving the job mostly undone, when we complained when it became apparent that the hardware they were selling us did not fix most of the problems that had been pointed out to him during his initial visit. Carl returned the next day, after we had agreed to pay him the extra amount he then asked for to actually fix the windows, waiving his original contract in my face. He stormed out again when we did not want to argue again about his original contract. Our experience is they use terminology without definition that you as a consumer won't be familiar with, and don't seem to feel an obligation to either explain the limits of what they have included or write an agreement to cover the hardware actually needed to make the repairs. They walked off the job leaving most of the work undone. read more

I have placed multiple phone calls to Christina in this company, trying to get service on Milgard windows. At one point after getting all information over a long period, she stated I should expect an email in 2-3 days. After a week, I called not only the business line, but the cell number which she provided. She apparently was declining my calls, as it would ring a few times, then go dead, no voicemail option available. Multiple messages on the company line, requesting they call me back, have gone unanswered for weeks. This company has poor customer service, as I have always been friendly and polite with Christina on the phone. Is she on vacation? Is she trying to screw over her boss by avoiding potential clients? Does she no longer wish to deal with a client in San Diego, even though she clearly said they service San Diego and Riverside counties? My suggestion, is find another window company. read more

I used Advanced Window for my rental property after getting three other bids. They offered the best prices and Alicia clearly explained the difference between the various window grades. I ended up going with the developer grade because I didn't need the colored frames and the quality of the actual material was the same. They also explained the differences in manufactured warranty vs. warranty of the installer so I could compare bids. I really liked their customer service and they worked very quickly and were respectful of my tenant. I had them come out to fix a small issue afterwards and they were very responsive. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because I was led to believe by the installer that my stain glass on some windows could stay on the outside and I could have the dual pane window on the inside. They couldn't do this so they all had to be removed and I was disappointed. But it may have been that I misunderstood so don't hold this against them.
