I had a check engine light on. Most other auto repairs want to charge me 80-100 dollars for diagnosis, which is too much for me. I called this place and they said they can have a scan for me for free. When I took my car there, they carefully inspect my car and use multiple methods to try to find the problem. They also tutor me what's the possible cause and how they diagnose the problem. Although they couldn't find the problem at the end and manually reset the check engine light and let me pay attention to see if the light comes back on in the future, I really appreciate their time and help. Great and honest place to get repair work done on your vehicle. I have a Honda Pilot now but I've never had a problem they couldn't help with on my other cars and suvs. I go Oscar to have all my cars Maintenance done as needed. Any car I want to buy I take to have his team check it out. Oscar is very good at giving you a mental visual of what is going on with your car and the way the work is being performed and your welcome to be there every step of the way. So I went here yesterday and it's a really hard to pull into location with no parking but I guess that's not their fault. I walked into the customer service area and wait there for 10 MINUTES before another customer walked in and they realized I was alive. Then they helped him first?!?! Whatever, I just asked if they could look at my headlight, a very simple task. The guy said it would be a little wait, so I sat down expecting a happy 30 or so minute wait. I SAT THERE FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED IN MY CAR'S DIRECTION. By the time they came to the incredible conclusion that my headlight was in fact out, I was already late to work so I just asked for my keys back. So thanks for wasting two hours of my life, my headlight is still out. read more

We have had Advantage Auto Repair work on three of our cars, and we've been delighted with the service every time. The owner, Oscar is honest and knowledgeable. He's not there to take you for a ride, but to fix your ride at a reasonable cost. I always dreaded taking cars into a dealership, but always kind of dreaded taking them to an independent mechanic also. But I don't mind at all when we have a problem now, or even when we just need routine maintenance because I know I can count on Oscar to find the problem and fix it. And to not exaggerate the problem, but at the same time to tell us what to keep an eye out for in the future. Did I mention at a reasonable cost? This place is a gem. Good honest work! Recently had my brakes fixed at this place after reading good reviews and wanting to try a mechanic that was not part of a big repair center (where things tend to take days and days to even be looked at). Was extremely satisfied with the job done and noticed that they had fixed a noisy door on my old truck without me even mentioning it while repairing the brakes! I really appreciated that tiny gesture that made a big difference:) Also had a power steering issue taken care of by them and am happy to say my truck has never driven/turned smoother. Everything is quoted a fair price for the work involved and Oscar even accommodated my crazy schedule on a holiday weekend to get me in and out of there fast! My passenger side window rolled down but wouldn't roll back up tool it in the guy couldn't read the codes so they couldn't fix it. They did offer to roll it up and lock it for $80.00 what choice did i have but to do it this is tucson and people will steal from you if your car is unlocked. $80.00 for a 5 min job no parts just labor wish i made 80.00 for 5 min of work. If what you are looking for is that rare commodity - an honest, fair mechanic shop that does high quality work, then look no further! Oscar is the owner of this family-owned shop. I have had to use Oscar a couple of times now, and he is ALWAYS so fair priced, but with the highest quality expectations of his mechanics. First of all, he doesnt charge a "diagnostic" fee to find out what is wrong - he works under the old-style attitude that a mechanic will give free estimates. Yes, a Brake Master or other shop will say they do free code checks. But then they tell you that the code was too vague and they now need to do a diagnostic for $80-$150. This all before you even fix anything! So right away, you are way ahead of the game with Advantage. But even more importantly, Oscar is a perfectionist and works super hard to find the exact right solution for you. On top of all this, their pricing is easily 25-40% less than other shops. He only charges for "work" hours that his mechanics are working on the car. I mention this because in my weird situation, he literally had to spend over 15 man hours finding the part I needed. And he didn't charge me a penny for that time! Hello?? Who else would have done this? I am a lifer at Advantage Auto now. I don't normally do reviews, but for service this excellent and with this level of quality workmanship at insanely low prices compared to others - I HAVE to let people know about him. it is'nt often that you find a mechanic that tell's you what is needed without throwing in additional crap to trump up the cost of repair....if curtain repairs can wait he will tell you.i've been taking my car's to oscar for 8yrs and it's been a great relationship, good luck finding better service and price's............... read more
