I don't like to leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at BMW of Houston Midtown Service Center needs to be shared. Friday (4/3): My 2017 BMW X5 is dropped off because there is a "Drivetrain Malfunction" alert and engine light on. They recommend a new auxiliary battery and electric vacuum pump. I agree and they say that the pump is coming from Dallas, TX so it will take a day. No problem. Fast forward to Tuesday of next week and there is no update. I pick up the car with no pump. Tuesday (4/14): Drop the car off again to get the pump installed. Pick it up later the same day. I'm told that everything is good to go. Alert and engine light are gone. Friday (4/17): Car abruptly starts shaking while driving with my kids and is unable to get over 30mph. "Drivetrain Malfunction" alert back on. Drop the car off again on Monday (4/20). They recommend now that I get four new ignition coils to fix the same Drivetrain issue. I agree - what other choice do I have. Thursday (5/8): I notice that the rear air suspension is not always working, but works most of the time. Take it to them on Tuesday (5/12) to check it out - maybe it's related to something they did previously. They now recommend replacing the compressor and other parts to fix the suspension with an estimated cost of close to $5,000. I decline and ask to pick up the car. My wife picks up the car and the service rep asks why we declined services. My wife tells her in passing that it's costing too much. Not surprisingly, I get a voicemail the following day from a sales associate at BMW Midtown asking me to give them a call back. But here is where it get's even more interesting. While driving the car home, my wife notices that it feels like there is no rear air suspension at all now. She's correct. Even after waiting 5 minutes after the car is turned on, no air is going to either of the rear tires. This is WORSE than when we dropped it off! I take the car to another service garage not affiliated with BMW to get a second quote. After only an hour, I get a call from them telling me that the car is on "TRANSFER MODE." This is used when shipping cars to conserve power and essentially restricts certain functions of the car. There's no way for someone to know this mode is on unless you have diagnostic software capable of detecting it. After they delete it, the rear air suspension is BACK and the car runs GREAT. This saved us thousands of dollars of additional work that BMW of Houston Midtown Service Center told us we needed to fix yet another problem - fact not accusation. Not the type of person to point fingers (it doesn't accomplish much), but I hope that my story helps people make a more informed decision about where to take their BMW for service. There's a way to do business, and this can't be one of them. read more

This review is for their service center. Appointments are easy to make online, even on the same day. The attendants are friendly and professional and easy to work with. The waiting area is on the 2nd floor and is fairly spacious. There's a TV, comfy chairs, snacks, water, and a coffee machine. You can bring food up here and there are multiple tables to work at or eat on. The bathrooms are kept clean. An added bonus, it's dog friendly! Definitely not a bad place to wait at for a routine car service appointment. read more

UPDATE: I decided to go back and give them another chance as there are not any other options in the area. I was pleased to see some updates to their intake processes (i.e. no longer giving the tire hard-sell per my initial review) and level of service. It's clear they take these reviews to heart and I am glad they do. We needed some significant work this time and I was very impressed by JW on his patience and willingness to work with the warranty companies. Between the warranty company and parts ordering, it did take a while (to be expected) but overall was pleased with this most recent visit (so updating my review). Keep it up! read more

A. Purchased a $57k car. Put $41k down with credit score of 857 (close to be excellence) and they gave me 6.84% interest (the financial dude told me that I was on the top tier). I later found that the dealership has jacked up 2% the interest rate. Cheap profits. B. Salesman didn't respond back to me after purchased, 2 messages sent, he didn't respond until I contacted the manager. C. None of them follow up after the sell, even though I expressed some concerns about the brake issues. D. I made a wrong choice of buying a car here. E. Dealership used to provide free Uber rides if you dropped off car for service. Now they use their own shuttle which is clearly not sufficient. My husband waited 3 hours for the shuttle today and never got a ride home! Service associates are wonderful. Management either needs to add more shuttles or supplement is with Uber. I've never been more disappointed in a luxury brand than I am with BMW. I purchased a 2018 BMW 740e thinking I was investing in performance, innovation, and most importantly -- a company that stands behind its products. Unfortunately, I was wrong on all counts. BMW issued a technical service bulletin (SI B01 05 22) extending the warranty for the front and rear air suspension struts to 8 years or 80,000 miles because they know these parts are defective. My vehicle fell just 800 miles past that cutoff, and despite the obvious design flaw and the minuscule margin over the limit, BMW refused to honor the warranty. Even worse, I had already paid out of pocket to replace the driver's side suspension while still within the mileage requirement -- and when I asked for reimbursement for that repair, they declined. I then asked them to at least cover the cost of the replacement part for the other side. Again, flat-out denied. Let's be clear: these suspension components are not cheap -- they cost thousands of dollars to replace, and BMW knows these parts are prone to failure. That's exactly why they issued the bulletin in the first place. But when it comes time to do right by the customer, they hide behind fine print instead of standing by their engineering. So far, I've spent nearly $10,000 in repairs on known issues -- issues that BMW acknowledges in writing -- and they've offered zero assistance, zero empathy, and zero integrity. If you're considering a BMW, especially the 7-series with air suspension, run in the other direction. They look great and drive nice until they fall apart -- and when they do, BMW will leave you holding the bag. read more

I visited this dealership in 2019 and the sales guy clearly knew nothing about BMWs. When I told him I would not buy a car from him and I wanted to leave he refused to give me back my car keys without (they had my keys to do a trade in valuation). Against my better judgement I went back 2 days ago because they had what I was looking for (X4). Sales guy was nice enough although he didn't serve much purpose - offered no insight on the two cars I was looking at whatsoever. I was on a strict time schedule and told him as much and I was assured everything could be finished in time. I sat waiting in the financial area for about 15-20 minutes before a lady came out and said they had a new program where they do everything virtually. She said she would set up the call and come back and get me. She disappeared for another 20 minutes. No one told me what was going on until I threatened to walk out and not come back. Turns out it was "technical difficulties" with a Zoom call. Sorry, but not every position is suitable for remote work - particularly customer facing ones. The whole experience (once they got it working) was a disaster of screens not sharing and touch screens not working, and lack of visibility of the documents I was being asked to sign. When it was all said and done I was late picking up my daughter (the reason I had a strict time schedule) and they didn't even provide a copy of anything I had just signed. When I told the sales guy I shouldn't have to ask for a copy of the documents he said "yeah, that's a thing here." To top it off, they said the car had remote start - turns out that's an additional $330. This was my 4th time buying a BMW and by far the worst experience I have ever had. These guys tried to charge me $1,200 for a part that DOESN'T EVEN EXIST after sending in my car for inspection; they just made up a diagnosis. Once I pointed that out they then tell me the actual problem would cost $7,100. I had the issue fixed at another dealership for less than $1,000. Before this I inquired about their Tread Act program for a recall on my car. Alejandro Aguirre told me he's unfamiliar with the process and instead of familiarizing himself with it, he ignored my calls, texts, and messages for 6 weeks. read more

We traded in our car and were told that we would be getting two separate checks for the trade in due to some ridiculous paperwork issues but after three hours of jacking with paperwork this seemed to be the easier. We received the first check from BMW without issue. However the additional check that we were to receive from the Advantage office has taken 6 weeks, 4 phone calls, 4 promised dates that elapsed with no check. Finally I had to threaten to call the tv station and attorney to get ny money. I was told the check would be to me weeks ago and the check was just printed. Lots of lies from management. They were so helpful when they wanted to do the deal and then after the fact the customer service has been horrible. My advice is go to another BMW dealer. read more

I took my 2018 BMW 530e to a certified BMW dealership because it was stuttering while driving. They diagnosed the issue as a bad battery and charged me nearly $4,000 to replace it. After the repair, the car was still stuttering--no improvement at all. When I brought it back, they ran a new diagnostic and told me the real issue was the transmission, which would cost $27,000 to replace. Essentially, they misdiagnosed the problem, charged me thousands for a repair that didn't fix anything, and now offer no reimbursement or help--just a suggestion to trade it in. Had they diagnosed the issue correctly the first time, I would have made a different decision. I escalated the issue to BMW North America, who admitted the dealer "followed protocol" but refused to take responsibility or offer any goodwill assistance. I'm now stuck with a massive repair bill and no resolution. For visibility, I purchased a new tire in late May of 2024 and the tire came with a one year warranty. Fast forward to not even a full year later, that same tire has a nail in it that should be covered. Since Steven advised me to rotate tires (again, not what I brought it in for in October 2024), that same tire is no longer covered. I also called serviced the day before taking my vehicle in and they stated it was covered. When my husband dropped it off the day of services, the woman informed him "oh you have a decent package, you will be taken care of". Now that I called to ask when my vehicle will be ready (a day after it's been sitting with no calls), they hit me with this BS. Unethical, money grabbing, poor service dealership. The private party I had purchased from received [the wrong] transfer request form from them and I was told by multiple people, including BMW NA, that the transfer request had to be completed through the selling dealer. No problem, right? Well, I dont live in Houston, and can't just drive over there, and their lack of follow up, and inability to reach anyone by phone is a systemic issue routing up all the way to corporate owners. I spent a year trying to contact someone from there and was met with lip service, false promises and no follow up. It was only after a sympathetic ear at my local BMW dealership did I get some traction. Even then, I was told by a finance manager that I had to get it done at the selling dealer. This place might sell you a car and treat you great through that process, but god forbid you need some actual support and expect follow through. I have filed complaints with the state Attorneys General against the dealership and the parent company. Bunch of wasted time and unneeded frustration. Steer clear. It's not necessarily the sales experience that matters -- it's what happens afterward. read more

When time is valuable in this day and age and everyone knows traffic can be a nightmare in Houston it's important to be considerate of customers time. My husband and made an appointment for 10 am on Tuesday to test drive an Audi E-tRon GT. As we arrived we didn't see the car in the lot. We walked in and let the front desk know of our appointment. Darwin was the contact person and went to go tried the car from service. As we waited he returned with no car. He explained to us that it was taken on a test drive the day before and now it won't go into drive. So now we drove over an hour from Willis, TX to waste our time. A professional salesperson would have checked on the car made sure it was ready and notified us it wasn't drivable before we made the trip. I am not sure why it's taken me this long to write my review, but alas, better late than never! I am a die-hard Mercedes fan and that is what I drive for my business car. But when it came time to trade in my personal car, I decided on the 2022 BMW M8 Competition. I reached out to Advantage and was paired with Jamal, so I set up a time to come in and pick out what I wanted on my car. Jamal was great, and patient with me (not because I did not know what I wanted, but simply because I can be a PITA if I don't get my way LOL). We went over all the options, and Jamal gave me an estimated delivery date. He even gave me the My BMW Garage site to go to so I could track the production and delivery of my car. It came in ahead of schedule, and actually arrived was I was out of the country, so they kindly held it for me for a week. I love my Beamer! It's not a daily driver for me (I drive it maybe 20 miles every other week) but when I do, I like to let her fly with it's 0-60 mph in 3 seconds. Thank you Jamal and Advantage for a great experience! BMW service center We have a full service warranty on our 2021 suv and took it in because it failed to start when my wife parked it at the Rice Village shopping center. We called road side assistance and the driver took out his charger, said that the battery was very old, and jumped it in less than 5 seconds to take on his tow truck. The service center did not get back to us until the late afternoon to say the battery was out of warranty because it appeared we left something on. How could a car with all the features of a modern BMW leave anything on? They gave us a $540 price tag before taxes for a new battery. I told them that just do the regular maintenance and I will take the car. They said I would have to get it towed since the battery was bad. I told them to just jump it and they came back with "it took six hours to charge your battery." Then I said that the tow guy took 1 minute to jump it so he could put it on his tow truck. They just wanted me to leave the car for them to replace the battery. After I questioned them, then they told me I could pick it up the next day. When I arrived it took all of five minutes to jump the car and get it back to me. Nothing they told me was truthful and how could I trust them with anything else? I have the phone texts to prove this conversation and will post them. The summary: I would not trust this service center with my vehicle. read more

We got a Mercedes, the windshield was cracked/chipped so since they refused to move down in price as a Mercedes windshield would be around $4k we agreed to have it replaced. What we didn't realize is they would completely damage the dashboard. I checked the vin number several times, the wipers, everything and would have noticed this damage and requested it be repaired. This is extremely expensive to fix! Ridiculous. Update: went to waste time to have them look at the damages. I was told by the general manager he would reach out to me, that was in August, it's now October. I also called Mercedes to see if this is a common issue with their vehicles this year and model and also spoke with technicians and they all said no. I've been back and forth to this dealership for the past month or so as I was looking for a vehicle for myself and for my parents and my experience has been excellent. My sales associate Yaz has been super responsive and receptive of my needs and has always alerted me on what's in the pipeline, what's coming in, sending me specs and answering a lot of my questions making her and her partner Alex my go to for doing business here. Her partner Alex was extremely thorough on going over features and has a wealth of knowledge on all features and models and that was very appreciated when he walked my dad through his new X3 M40i and he even taught me something about my car which I did not purchase here. I was able to get a deal relatively quickly after negotiations and just had to wait a while to process paperwork which was still quicker than other places I've done business. I look forward to doing more business here if I get the opportunity to do so. One thing I wish they did have was a bay to present your new car. They not only sell cars, but sell products as well from model cars to accessories. Transportation was provided at no cost to my home and back after my car was ready. Back in October 2022, my car was due for service. I made the appointment and took the car in. The service guy said 2 hours. The car is new and this was the first service for the car. So the service took 4 hours which is ridiculous. I was offered a free detailing due to the extended wait time. During the detailing service it appears that someone pulled the front driver's side mat out of the floor which left a hole in the floor board. These mats are custom made for my car by Weathertech and the hardware used to secure the mat no longer works because the hole in the floorboard is so large that everything we try will not stay in place. I have been going back and forth with the service department and Kevin, the sales person, to no avail. I had to make my own calls to Weathertech to try to find a solution. Recently, I have been e-mailing the general manager, Stephen Prather. He refuses to call me or e-mail me back despite this being an issue he owns. I like my car, but right now it is difficult to drive because the mat keeps slipping around on the floor board. My husband is looking for a new vehicle. it won't be from Advantage BMW! It is interesting that all of the reviews on their website are 5 stars. Not so much here on Yelp. read more
