Food was good, very good in a couple of cases, but service was so slow from our wait staff that it really pissed me off. Tried this place out to celebrate a family member's birthday and rang up a $165 check, but still we had to ask for everything from can't you accommodate us by pushing tables together since no one else is here yet to menus to water to attention to place our orders. The bus boy, instead of coming around the table to collect dishes, had us pass him each dish from one end of the long table to the other, one by one. Our waiter and bus boy came across as peeved or exasperated that we would call them, though we waited almost 20 minutes to place our dinner order and had to ask for our dishes to be cleared long after we had finished eating each course. This is a case of good food, super clean environment and a great atmosphere ruined by poor service. I hope it improves...soon. Too many options to be satisfied with mediocre! read more

I'm giving it 4 stars because the food was fantastic and the restaurant is very pretty. However, my family walked in at 5:30a and left at 7:30p. Why? Even though we were the first ones there it took FOREVER for the food to come out and the meals came out two at a time. So I basically stared at my brother and son as they ate their masala dosa while I waited for my eggplant. And explain to me why there's no ice water? Water is free. Ice is free. Why am I drinking warm water in a warm glass in the summer? Then they're in a big hurry to clear the plates. Well damn you took an hour to give me the food so how about giving me a minute to eat! And why did we order 4 meals (the rest were dosas) but only got one rice? Rice is cheap... what's the problem? As I have said a hundred times, the bullshit of Indian restaurants would never be okay in an American restaurant and I'll put up with the bullshit ONLY because I don't cook Indian and I'm desperate. Don't let me learn to cook because then I might tell this restaurant off! In the meantime, I'll cry about it on Yelp. read more

It's human to make mistake and in standardized chain like A2b hardly the food will be messed up in any order and If at all once someone points in 2 years since neither the owner nor the employees gives a damn about any complaint and they never want to replace what a money hungry franchise? Even a small single restaurant if someone is not ok with the food they'll dump it in garbage and make sure the customer gets satisfied. There is absolutely no apology or any kind of gratitude, when you are in US and if this is the normal attitude then you should be obliged. The place is clean, the service is good and the food tastes delicious. They have several South Indian specialties that we don't typically find here like the Adai Avial, vazhapoo vadai, idiyappam, kesari, rose milk, etc. I've been here twice and ordered different items and have not been disappointed. Being a South Indian restaurant, it will be a missed opportunity and fairly counterproductive to order from the north Indian curries. read more

Big Shout out to A2B. Went here in 10/3/19 for lunch. 1st ones in so our experience was very fresh. Got referred by our friends and glad that we did. My daughter likes Dosa and looks like this has become her fav now. Idlis were very fresh. The Ghee roast Dosa, though laden with ghee, was up to the mark. And the mysore rava masala dosa and Masala uttapam were unique and well made. We went to this place after reading good reviews. We were disappointed with the level of service. First our order was not taken properly. One dish was delivered and we were waiting for next one, assuming that it will deliver shortly. When we called sever, he says we ordered only one entree. There was no manager on site and person whom we spoke to was not helpful at all. This place is not customer oriented at all. Nan we ordered was also cut in half, instead of 4 pieces. Nobody was coming to feel up water and for taking plates after. Food quantity was also very less. read more

I am posting this review after multiple visits to this restaurant. The food is ok but the service is really bad. They close at 10. So if you go for dinner around 8.30, the waiters literally hover around you, you are not even given even two minutes to go through the menu, they keep coming every minute and ask if you are ready to order, if u tell one waiter that you need sometime to decide, there is one more who comes within the next minute and there were times when they made faces at us when we asked for time. I understand they may want to provide a fast service but there are no people waiting outside they have enough tables available - why not give the customers some time?? No matter what by 9.30 the waiter comes again and asks if you want anything else if not he rudely tells you to pay the bill even if you are working on your meal- dude! We know we are here to pay and eat , we will definitely pay the dues before heading out , but no they are extremely rude . Once we told him we are waiting for dessert, we will pay after we are done with it, he was like no pay now your dessert will come, we have to close the register bla bla... this kind of unprofessional behavior is really not acceptable. We go to a restaurant for different reasons- to catch up with friends, to discuss long day at work etc but if the environment is such I don't think I will ever go back and none of my friends will. The food quality is not as good as Piscataway branch, so guess even if it's farther , I would prefer going there. Atleast I get good food and nice service. The food is not that good that I need to put up with some lame attitudes of the waiters for no god damn reason. To the restaurant owners: you are spoiling the brand name of Adyar anand Bhavan!! It took for ever to get a glass of water - room temp - which is OK but it tasted off - Let's see if we can get some lemon to mask this? Had to flag someone down - they were confused and a few minutes later the waiter come over and we asked for lemon - he brings Lime - that's OK - we like Limes too. wait, wait, wait - menus are closed - wait wait wait place the order, wait wait wait wait wait. we get it! Torrid experience. The waiting was so poorly managed as people kept pouring in and nobody had a clue how long the wait was. The host refused to provide wait times, people got seated out of turn and it was just utter chaos. we were told we will be seated next but nobody showed up to seat us for the next 15 mins. Then things got worse when we were seated. Couple of us got their orders but the others kept waiting and waiting. Meanwhile waiters showed up repeatedly bringing the wrong order (meant for another table I assume) and we kept telling them no. At one point the waiter just stood in the middle of the hall and started calling out aloud if anybody ordered onion bajji. Back at our table after an hour of waiting the waiter shows up and tells us both mini tiffin and Pongal idly is sold out. At this point we are like half of us are starving so just get whatever you have in the kitchen. We don't care. Such a mess. I really hope they will sort their sh*t out because their food is still quite good. read more

From the moment we walked in we felt we were not welcome. We were literally stared at by staff standing near the entrance. It took a really long time for someone to take the order, they were not friendly. Took even longer to get the food. I observed the staff going to every table in the place, except ours (we were the only table full of Caucasians), to tend their needs, refill water, and pay the check. We had to again get the attention of someone and ask for the check, when it was obvious we were done. The water was warm and did not taste good. I had to get the attention of a few people to ask for a piece of lemon, and after looking at me like I had two heads to make such a request, we received 2 tiny, tiny slivers of lime, I mean minuscule. Other Indian restaurants give you complimentary bread and dipping sauces to enjoy while you wait, but this place did not offer that. I'll stick with Tandoori Flames just down the road - .
