I rented a Billy Goat field mower to aid in clearing the lower acre of our property. Phone service was prompt and polite without any holds. My equipment was ready when I went to go get it. They honored my Groupon without batting an eye. They showed me how to use the machine. They loaded it in my truck. They didn't give me any weird energy about my being female. All the equipment on the lot looked clean and basically brand new. And they had better rates than the other places I looked at. I will definitely be back! Unfortunately I might have to rent ACTUAL goats instead of the Billy Goat to truly eat through the blackberries and morning glory.

She assumed that being that they advertised as being "Extreme" Cleaners, they would be a professional team of men and women able to handle large jobs. She paid $400 for two hours of work. It ended up being only two women with ​no hauling trailer or truck, so my daughter and her fiance ended up having to take and pay for the garbage removal themselves. Granted, she should have asked for the specific details of the services provided, but still, they advertised as being removal specialists. My daughter wouldn't let me be there during the time they were cleaning, and when I returned home I found, to my utter dismay, that the women had literally thrown everything out but the kitchen sink, and if they could have dismantled it, they probably would have thrown it out. The kitchen had gotten pretty messy, with plates, pots, and other things left out on the counters. These women, instead of setting them aside or washing them, had simply thrown everything out. My daughter said she instructed the women to "Throw out anything that looked like garbage." Obviously, my plates, pots, and other kitchenware were not "garbage." They had thrown out the left boot of my good pair of snow boots and just left the right boot laying in the middle of the front room. They threw out a beautiful etching my daughter had done in her art class, and she is a talented artist. They threw out my expensive coffee and I guess I'm lucky they didn't throw my coffee maker out, too. I had three boxes of good quality false nails - gone. I had left, in all reasonable thinking, a large makeup kit with a lot of cosmetics I had built up over the years, closed, out on the bathroom counter - gone.​ All of my bathroom towels, including a couple of brand new ones - gone. And thank God they ran out of time so didn't decimate my room completely, and, thank God again that I had the foresight to take my cosmetic bag of necessary lifesaving medications with me when I left, or I would have been in deep trouble. All of the deodorant, lotion,and other sundries - gone​. And last, but not least, they threw out my large kitchen garbage can. Unbelievable.

I rented a unit at 1st Ave Storage for close to 20 years, and management used to be great there (I…read morebelieve Emmet(?) was the longtime manager there, but he left a few years ago). I just recently moved out, as things have gotten shadier and shadier around there. The security/safety around the building has become questionable, especially with the RV camp out back. With that said--the worst part, frankly, is the owner. Charlie is his name, and he basically refused the pro-rated refund that 3 people working at his facility ALL said I would receive. I did a speedy move out April 16, as the manager there told me I could get the pro-rated refund if I cleared my unit out asap, rather than wait until end of month. Great! Sadly, I never received the refund, and even thought the 3 different employees told me I should get it--Charlie apparently refused to follow through, telling his manager "we don't pro-rate". But... all 3 of your employees told me you do...!? When I asked to have Charlie call me directly, I was told Charlie said: "I don't talk to customers directly." I explained I would warn people on Yelp if Charlie doesn't bother calling me back, and his reply (through his employee, since he doesn't talk to customers): Fine, post on Yelp. Additionally, when I rented a U-Haul from them, the gas tank was not even filled. Apparently owner Charlie keeps just a quarter tank in there, claiming it's due to the RV camp stealing gas. But... he will penalize truck renters if they don't return the truck at exactly the maybe kinda quarter-ish level the tank had. Makes it real hard for truck renters to fill up ONLY the amount they use. Hmmm... SO... Be warned. Charlie the owner does not follow through, and frankly does not step up when he should. I moved to another storage facility that provided better rates in a more convenient location... and a safer location. I didn't realize perhaps the best benefit to moving: not supporting a shady owner. I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because of the years of good service I had when previous management was great, the place was more secure, and shady business practices didn't impact me. I guess owner Charlie's integrity was lost in parallel with the decline of the community around there :-\ Buyer beware--think twice before using 1st Ave Storage.

To make matters worse, one of the movers was on his phone for much of the time, even while I was helping them unpack. Most concerning, several of my boxes went missing; when I brought this up, they simply insisted they had checked the truck, despite me losing roughly $2,000 worth of property. When I confronted the mover about the damage and the missing items, he offered to knock two hours off the bill in exchange for a positive review. I now realize why they have so many 'positive' reviews, and I truly wonder how many others have been swindled.
