I was nervous and super second guessing this decision but as soon as I walked in she put me at ease and made me feel completely comfortable. Mirelle is amazing!! My skin improved so much since I've been going to see her for facials, and is still in the process of doing so. A lot of pigmentation is gone and my skin's not as dry as it was last winter because I stopped using products she said was drying out my skin. My acne scars have also improved. I have been getting brazilian waxes for nearly a decade (time to invest in laser?) and she is my hands-down favorite here in the city. She is very thorough and will walk you through everything she is doing, should you need the reassurance. Heads-up on two things: 1. Don't be turned-off by her treatment room. She will have you lay on a mat on the floor, but it is draped in clean pads and is deceivingly comfortable. Went for a brazilian booked through Lifebooker, which gives a cheaper rate. Mirelle was such a dear. She instantly put me at ease with her welcoming smile and demeanor. Upon my arrival, she led me to a room in the back of a salon (a separate business). I wasn't expecting that, but it seems to work for her. She had me lie down on a mat and supplied me with disposal underwear, which remained on for the entire session. The wax was minimally painful - she used stripless peels and maintained a cheerful chatter the entire time. The only concern I had was that she seemed to redip the wooden sticks into the wax, but I'm not completey certain. Overall, a good experience. read more

I have found my esthetician in NYC! I booked a triple peel through lifebooker. What a deal! A thorough, painless extraction, a few gentle "peels", a quick massage, and a soothing mask relieving any redness. Mirelle took her time and chose peels tailored to my skin problems. Prior to the session, Mirelle commented on my very problematic skin (and source of self-consciousness) and suggested the deep peel, explaining the biology of skin and how the peel works. I went though the triple peel and decided to make an appointment for the deep peel. Mirelle's mindful and personable presence conveyed a sense of comfort in that she wasn't trying to up-sell me, but truly advising me on what was best for my skin. She had me buy French products at Duane Reade, including SPF60 sunscreen, prior to my 2nd appointment, to ensure that my face would be protected. This deep peel was what I had imagined of a peel! My skin peeled for almost a week. I stayed away from people during the peeling and out of the sun for a few days. I am amazed at the results! Went here for a BRAZILIAN BIKINI WAX special offered on Lifebooker. Mirelle was FANTASTIC! I love her attitude. She makes you feel so zen. Who would ever think that a Brazilian Bikini Wax would be that way?! She has you take off your shoes before going into the room. She gives you disposable underwear to wear so you never feel completely bare. Then you lie down on a heated mat and she plays some soft music. Mirelle uses hard wax which does not hurt as much. I've been going to Mirelle for over a year now, and she gives the best waxes. : ) She never double dips, always wipes afterwards with alcohol (to prevent ingrown hairs) and her amethyst heat pad that you lay on envelops you in a comfortable warmth as you clench your teeth. Before I went to Mirelle, I was at a loss over what to do with my skin. I had been battling severe acne for nearly 15 years. I had tried multiple creams (including prescribed), oral antibiotics, and plenty of Sephora products. Two dermatologists told me Accutane was my only hope, one told me to get on Spirolactone. When I found Mirelle, I told myself I would give it one more shot before I finally gave into the dermatologists' advice. And I'm so glad I did. The minute I met Mirelle, I knew she was unlike any other aesthetician I'd ever seen before. She thoroughly examined my skin and asked multiple questions before deciding just what products to use. She didn't try to sell me a single thing during the facial and she was so warm and welcoming. My face that first visit was covered in pimples and she was incredibly gentle and patient during what must have been at least 30 minutes of just extractions. WOWWW. I went to Mirelle after trying countless remedies for my cystic acne. After going off the pill six months ago, my skin got so bad. I tried every natural remedy I could find online, changed my diet, my exercise regimen, cut out diary, sugar, etc. and my skin continued to get worse. I went to doctors and dermatologists who all told me the same thing - that I would need to go back on the pill or take antibiotics if I wanted my skin to get better. I cannot recommend her enough. Sounds so dramatic, but it was seriously like a spiritual turning point in my life. Part therapy/part meditation - it felt like I was catching up with a loving relative. Her room is this tiny beautiful nook tucked away in this fancy hair salon in soho. Green plants growing over the walls, beautiful light, calming ambience of birds chirping and calming music. You lay down on a amethyst biomat on the floor and Mirelle kneels by your side. She was so sweet and soothing through the entire process, which was so thorough and relatively painless. I knew from the moment she started she was a professional who really knew what she was doing and cared deeply about her work. After the facial, she went through the regimen of how to take care of my skin as it healed. She recommended certain products that I could pick up at CVS (Avene cleanser and Cicalfate) and a certain brand of probiotic that I got off Amazon. My skin is a million times better just a month later - I can't believe I don't have to obsess over it every day anymore. Almost all of my acne is gone and there is just some light scarring that is fading with the products she recommended. I'm not joking when I say that Mirelle and I spoke on the phone for three days in a row after my facial, just to check in about the progress and see how I was doing. I came in a week later so she could do a follow up, free of charge. I've never met anyone like her in NYC and I plan to go back any time I need a wax or have any skin issues at all. I cannot say enough good things about Mirelle. I have been going to her for about a year for brows and facials. She is so kind and genuinely cares about helping her clients (she lets me come in for free for check-ins and extractions after a facial). She isn't a representative of any brand so she won't try to sell you-- although she will recommend things you can buy on Amazon or at the pharmacy. It took three visits before Mirelle was willing to wax my brows because she wanted them to grow in more. That's foregone income just for the sake of giving the best service possible. After getting an IUD implanted I have had huge skin problems (I had essentially perfect skin before that). It has been a struggle getting my skin into a better place and Mirelle has made all the difference. She takes a holistic approach to treatment and emphasizes making sure your gut and hormones are in order. I just did a chemical peel with her and my skin has not looked this good in YEARS. It finally is clear and I feel like my old self and not embarrassed about running into friends when I'm not wearing cover-up. Anyway Mirelle has a beautifully relaxing way about her, you lie on the floor so she can easily get at all your hairy bits - I found it a relatively painless and comfortable affair. The room is simple and the mattress heated. She uses pure wax, not strips and it left my skin softer and less tugged than I have ever had.
