In 2021, I searched for a dentist who specializes in treating patients with dental anxiety and found Metro Dental. My initial treatment plan estimate was overwhelming--more expensive than a used car. I met with the owner to prioritize the long list of procedures I needed. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for CareCredit or an in-house payment plan. To make the treatment possible, I signed up for a $3,000 FSA plan through my employer and used my $3,000 annual dental insurance benefit. Since both reset every January 1st, I applied the $6,000 each year toward the most urgent procedures. I also worked a summer job to save additional money. It took nearly five years, but I finally completed my treatment plan. Throughout the process, every dentist I saw was compassionate, non-judgmental, and highly skilled. I requied oral sedation, nitrous oxide, and topical numbing gel before injecting anesthetic for all procedures except for cleanings. I only need the nitrous oxide for cleanings. The oral sedation helped relieve most of my anxiety, and the nitrous kept me calm during procedures. I highly recommend the dentists at Metro Dental. The owner is especially compassionate and truly cared about me as a patient. The entire staff support helped me get through something I had been afraid of for years.

Advertising about catering to patients with dental anxiety. What they don't tell you, is that you get anxiety just by looking at the bill. I needed to get a couple root canals + crowns, or possibly extraction with a bridge. I have solid dental insurance(wife is a public school teacher), and they told me they could only use $3000 towards treatment. I thought that was low, but whatever, that was fine. I hadn't seen the bill yet. Then it hit me. $12,000, AFTER insurance. Had the feeling I was getting fleeced, so I went elsewhere for a second opinion. Got the work done, am now free of tooth pain, and only had to pay $1,900 out of pocket, after insurance. Going with my gut worked out. I don't blame anyone for seeing those pretty Facebook ads and wanting to stop in. I did. Just, if you do, go somewhere else after to get another quote. Other very good doctors can probably do it for much cheaper. Yea, they probably have to make up for high overhead, but that price I first got was insane. I was considering flying to Mexico or Thailand and getting it done over there, where there is world class dental service for much less expense.

My favorite thing besides the kind and professional service was the fact after my cleaning they put Vaseline on my lips. Honestly, that was the greatest feeling ever. He allayed my concerns by informing me that he would administer sufficient numbing of the area. He did and he massaged the area as well. He frequently asked if I was alright and assured me during the process. Surprisingly, I felt no pain or discomfort. I was so calm and relieved during the process. On my follow-up visit, Yessi did a phenomenal job! She removed my temporary crown seamlessly with swift action. She was relentless in assuring that the crown fit correctly allowing for flossing clearance. I loved how she worked. This young lady was quite proficient and professional and did it in record time! This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a dental clinic. On several…read moreoccasions, I drove my children to scheduled appointments, only to be told upon arrival that the clinic was too busy and could not see them. The appointments were not properly confirmed, causing us unnecessary inconvenience, wasted time, and travel. In addition, the behavior of the staff has been consistently rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Instead of treating patients with care and courtesy, they often appear unwilling to assist and do not communicate effectively with families. I am also very concerned about the quality of dental care provided. My children underwent dental procedures that appeared to be performed without proper anesthesia, causing them significant pain and distress. This is completely unacceptable, especially when treating children. Furthermore, the clinic appeared dirty and poorly maintained, raising concerns about cleanliness and patient safety. I strongly urge management to investigate these issues and take immediate corrective action to improve patient care, staff professionalism, scheduling procedures, and clinic cleanliness.
