The best, may be the only company to buy a water softner from. They only use Fleck water softners, from Germany. Dual tanks they measure the water use with a turbine, and since it's dual tanks, you never have to wait for a tank to recycle. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. The owner looked at my system, based on an artesian well, and made some important suggestions to improve quality. Price is great, my system was installed for about $300 over what I could have done if I had put it in myself, and Fleck systems are not easy to install. They recently came out, and repaired the system, the price was reasonable and this unit will continue to work for another 10 years.. Forget Culligan, it's cheap commercial junk. read more

I've been a customer of Affordable Water for the last 10 years or so. They installed and maintain my system. I've been very happy with them until my last service May/June 2018. They came out to do routine maintenance, which is re-bedding the resin and replacing a carbon cap. I got the impression that the technician was relatively new. After he completed the job $294.00, He asked me to come out to the garage and look at the system. He showed me it was now leaking. Again, They came out to do routine maintenance, My system was 100% functional as noted on their invoice. No problems prior to their arrival. The Technician told me the leak was no big deal, and it would only leak when the unit cycled. At this point, I was sure he did something. All those components were removed for him to perform his task. It wasn't leaking before he messed with it. I told him to go ahead and fix it while he was here. That was an additional $120.00 or so, which I would come to find out did not fix the system. Now, I'm up to $400.00 + dollars. Fast forward about 2 weeks. I start to realize my water doesn't feel soft anymore. It takes about two weeks for the hot water heater to cycle out of soft water from what I've read. It's just me and my wife at home living on one income. I call them and tell them I think the unit isn't working properly. I did some initial checking as instructed by them, everything checked out. It took over a week for them to get an experienced tech to my house. It would have been longer if I wanted the most experienced guy. Anyway, he shows up and about 20 minutes later I see him out on his truck writing up an invoice. This guy is obviously experienced, and I'm wishing he had come out originally. I'm thinking, They better not be charging me again. This time it was another $150.00 for an obviously broken part. Now, This part had a 1 inch crack in it if I remember correctly. That doesn't seem like normal wear and tear to me. After arguing with the tech, which I now regret. He advises me to call the company, which I do and speak to Barbara, one of the owners. She tells me she will speak with the other owners and let me know the outcome. After 3 phone calls, They decide to refund the labor cost of $80.00 dollars to me. Remember, I'm in to them for about $600.00 for an original estimate of $294.00. A new unit's around $800.00. This was supposed to be routine maintenance to a WORKING SYSTEM. The owner who was making the decisions never would speak to me, and insists this is normal wear and tear. He also claims that these parts cannot be "over tightened" during installation. I've been doing Building Maintenance for 40 years, I'm a supervisor running two crews of Electronic Techs, Mechanics and Laborers. Broken, cracked parts are not normal wear and tear. I'm sorry now I did not keep the parts in question. The worst part of this is, I was always happy with Affordable Water, and thought I got good service at a fair price. I honestly thought they would take care of a loyal customer. I would have been happy if they would have let the last invoice go, it was $150.00. Instead, They called me to tell me I still owed them $60.00 and I was wrong. I just paid them and let it go. I could tell whoever was making the decisions doesn't care about his customers, just money. So, nothing I had to say, mattered. I'm sure if he cared at all, He would have spoke to me to see how the problem could be resolved. I'm also aggravated that they wouldn't even consider that their tech could have made a mistake. If you do decide to use Affordable water, Do yourself a favor and make sure they send out one of the senior experienced techs. A $300.00 routine maintenance call to a working system cost me about $500.00. They just took advantage of a Disabled Veteran. Very disappointed. read more

Another vendor had come out to install one but complained that the existing hole in our countertop wouldn't support the faucet properly. I recently purchased a home and the General Contractor installed a water softener that I purchased from Amazon. I really had NO IDEA how a softener works, how to maintain it and then it started to flood my garage. I spoke to the lovely employees at Affordable Water, told them what was happening. They were so helpful over the phone! We made an appointment and the technician came, took a look and let me know that my unit was installed incorrectly. He reran the offending connections, filled my unit with salt - was so kind and explained everything to me. I have been a customer of Affordable water for over 25 years and have purchased at least two new water softeners from them and had several repair jobs. I have also been purchasing their expensive salt for all these years. I had a plumber out the other day for another issue and he opened the toilet tank and noticed resin residue. He suggested I ask my wafter softener company to just check their system to make sure there wasn't a problem with the system.I requested the company to check the system since it is only about 3 years and they agreed. Their man arrived, checked the unit and after 10 min ,he said no problem and charged me $85 service call. I am not at all happy with this and will begin looking for new company. read more
