    Steak taco with "Golden Sauce"
    Richard B.

Right next to my auto mechanic in Berkeley. Opens at 11 and I've usually dropped of my car to pick up anotger day before they open. Today I stuck around thinking car would be ready earlier. After drowning in coffee at another place most of the morning I tried this place being next door and when car is ready it's a short walk. I think I may have been here years ago just for a coffee or something. Today was first time I've had food. 2 steak tacos with everything including "hot" hot sauce. This includes their signature "golden sauce". Not sure what it is. Prolly has roots in Afghan culinary. No matter it is very good. Excellent tacos. I also had a Topo Chico mineral water since everything else had sugar. There is water. Covered outdoor seating is really nice and indoor seating when weather is yuck. Music is upbeat. Just finished listening to "Another One bites the Dust". I think Rockwell is on now. Other items looked great with a blend of Afghan and Mexican flavors unite for something deliciously different. Next time I bring a car in I'll try something different. Sugar free ice tea would be a plus. Staff is nice, vibe is relaxed, music is up there and food distinctively different goodness.

We ordered the Surf & Turf Burrito, Chicken Burrito, and Chicken Quesadillas. The food was good and came with chips. You can immediately tell it's not your typical "Mexican burrito" -- it definitely has a unique Mediterranean-Afghan flavor twist that makes it stand out. The bathroom is located in the back of the restaurant and was clean, and the kitchen area also looked neat and well-kept. Service was great! The guy helping us had a smile on his face the whole time and made us feel very welcome.

This review is for a delivery order-was my 2nd time eating at Afghan Burrito. This time I tried fried chicken burrito bowl. While I find the ingredients were fresh and delicious. I was expecting the fried chicken to be on top of the bowl, so I could w join the crunch of the chicken. The chicken was on top of the rice and under the guacamole and shredded cheese so it was soggy. Nevertheless the food was flavorful, but I think the location of the chicken would have made a big difference. Maybe I'll try again later...

Friendly staff, awesome outdoor location, and a loaded and flavorful burrito. What more can you ask for? The golden sauce is akin to a mild curry sauce and goes really well in a burrito. Portion size was also good. We'll be back to try more soon!

Where have you been all my life! This place is so cute! It's set up for fun, eith lots of outdoor sitting. The staff & owners are amazing! They are so talented, humble & helpful. The food is amazing! I highly recommend their burrito bowl, crunch wrap, green sauce & hot chai tea. All of their flavor profiles are incredible! I'm so glad I know about this place & really look forward to eating here the rest of my life! :)

Mexican restaurant with Afghan infused flavors. No Jalapeno, taco spice and tarjins; instead yogurt buttery sauces, curry flavor etc. Service was quick decent with order delivery at the table. It's delicious with generous portions and value. Food a bit oily and heavy in nature so be mindful . Veggie options available. Location was really clean with indoor and outdoor seating. Big screen inside for events. Outdoor has gazebo like seating. Great for groups, kids, meetups, gathering. It's flat wide entry and accessible.

If you're thinking about coming here, just do it. The food is absolutely delicious (I had the golden chicken burrito with a Palestine cola). We kept saying "mmm" after every. single. bite. The staff was nice, portions were great, and the vibes were chill. I can't wait to go back and try more things.

My friends and I enjoyed this stop-over on our drive from Sonoma back to the South Bay! We love fusion dishes so had to check it out. All 3 of us got golden burritos; one friend got it open faced Afghan style, while the other two got traditional rolled. All 3 were good. The gold sauce was mild, flavorful, and a little sweet, and the guac was perfect. My veggie burrito was solid, although it was very mild and definitely needed a bit more punch of flavor, which the red and green hot sauces helped deliver (they added a small amount of heat). All 3 of us enjoyed the hot chai, easily-available ice water in a dispenser, and the outdoor seating on a mildly warm afternoon. As an extra bonus, the bathrooms were clean and spacious.

Everything on the menu is delicious! The owners and staff are always kind and welcoming, which makes dining here such a pleasant experience. It's a great spot to enjoy a meal, and the outdoor seating is a nice bonus.

4 tacos in no particular order- steak, ground beef, shrimp and fried chicken.

Excellent fusion of Mexican food forms and Afghan seasonings. Being Halal means eating with Muslim friends is simple. Friendly service and a very inviting outdoor seating arrangement. Very happy to have found it- I'll be back!

Great outdoor area and it's not just their burritos but bowls and salads that banging. I got to try their breakfast burrito with sausage, beef quesadilla, and their homemade flavor chais (def get the purple flavor!!) these were flavored in a golden sauce, and wait there's more sauces! I got to take home their pink garlic, def adds a kick if u can handle it! The vibe is outdoorsy, small cabana like shaded seating on the left and large open space that can hold a banquet or an amazing yelp gathering

Had this place bookmarked for awhile, but never got the chance to check it out until today! We ordered through DoorDash and I bet it would've tasted even better if we were to have ordered it in person and ate it there! We ordered the golden burrito and it was very filling and flavorful. I didn't know what to expect, but the fusion of different flavors went very well together. The burrito was not dry and felt "light" compared to a normal burrito. As in, I didn't feel bad about eating it all lol. I didn't though, because half was enough to get me full! They provided free chips on the side and two sauces, which complimented the burrito. Can't wait to get it again and try their other menu items!

Hi! I've been so curious about your business tha I really want to try it. I am allergic to all grains so I would have to get your bowl option. Is it truly grain free? What's fajitas? I can eat corn tortillas made without flour.

I think the bowl would be a good option! It comes loaded with veggies. Fajitas are roasted bell peppers. I eat my bowl with the corn chips. They're very accommodating so you should be able to enjoy it here 😊 I highly recommend this place!

The restaurant is fairly small with probably about a half a dozen tables, etc. The owner was very polite, and thankfully very patient with us for a friends lunch. We originally had plans for another restaurant, but this location, etc. worked out. Everyone spent quite a bit of time catching up, and we were made to feel at home. I ordered a side of fries for a shareable at the table. I found the fries to be very underwhelming and needed more seasoning and considering that it's seven dollars for a side of fries the serving was pretty mediocre. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro plate. The side salad was very fresh and had a light vinaigrette dressing. I would have liked for the dressing to be more of an actual vinaigrette flavor. The rice was light and fluffy, but again, lacked seasoning/flavor. The side of yogurt sauce, was tasty, but did not hit the spot. Why? Because it really lacked the flavors. Notice a theme? I will say, the meat was tender, and it had a really nice flavor to it. It was delicious enough that it was very difficult to differentiate between a lamb flavor versus a beef flavor. It all tasted good together. The soft drinks are rather pricey. It was around $3.50 for a bottled Coke. Yikes! When we were done with our meal, we were served complementary hot tea. It was a nice touch.

I got an assortment of Turkish delight and some pistachio baklava ($2.99). The Turkish delight is sold by weight across all the varieties and goes for $16.99/lb. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and offered us a sample of one of the flavors to try which I thought was a nice gesture. Everything looked so good, so we picked a couple different pieces of Turkish delight to try. To my surprise, my favorite ended up being the saffron, though rose petal with pomegranate and sour cherry with pastachio were close seconds. I didn't like the coconut or the chocolate one that much, so reminder to myself to skip those next time. After picking up the dessert, I did a quick circle around the store to see what they had. The market itself is a treasure trove: shelves filled with Middle Eastern dry goods, nuts, dried fruits, spices, blends, and condiments you can't find anywhere else. Kofta, shish kebab, falafel, sumac, garam masala -- it's all here. They also carry pita, lavash, labna, and other breads and yogurts that make cooking from scratch feel like heaven. Not sure if they were having a bad day, and we came on the wrong night, but that should not be any excuse. I use to frequent their old location, and have yet to go back since they moved. First attempt at the new location, I tried to come with 2 girl friends for an early lunch on a Monday at 11am. Their hours say they open at 10:30am, but it was 11:20am, and their doors were locked and the people inside said they were closed. Second attempt was on a Sunday evening at 6pm. We were 2 families totaling 8 people. We told the hostess/server our party size, and almost immediately, she did not seem too happy about it. That is when the attitude began. We looked around, and noticed that there were about 2 or 3 other tables of 2-3 people dining, so it was not like they were busy. We were really taken back by her reaction and tone, which made us worry about the service the rest of the night. We got seated, looked at the menu, and let her know we were ready to order. We were curious and had a few quick questions, such as which is popular and which type of meat comes in the plate (because it did not specify), but her responses were very rude. She even tried to give an attitude saying we could not change what comes on the plate, when in fact we were just adding to the order. She was just so quick to try to find a problem to speak on that she did not realize it was an addition. I started to get upset. I truly tried to keep my calm, but it was really hard with the way she was speaking. Food took pretty long to come out even though they were not busy. Good thing we were not in a rush. We noticed that the people next to us ordered before us, but our food came out first, so we felt bad. Then when their food did come out, I believe something was wrong, so they had to wait a little more. Although the food was decent, the service ruined the entire experience. For that reason, I would not go back.
