We love Kabab and Curry (K&C!). Tilochan ("Tilo") is the manager and his team have always been great. We have visited many times and can recommend the lunch buffet as well as the menu entreès. We also enjoy their beer selection : ) Interior is large, comfortable and has some old school charm. I visited this restaurant for a late lunch but before dinner. The buffet was not open yet which was fine, as I didn't come for that. This is a great sized place although it looks small from the outside. The waitstaff was polite and attentive. The food came out quickly and it was extremely flavorful! The lamb was tender and cooked to perfection. I do think I'll return to try the buffet in order to taste more dishes. read more

The food had a lot of flavor and the portions were perfect. I loved the amount of rice that was given.

We went here on a weekend for lunch, but sadly just missed there buffet lunch by 30 mins. The server kindly informed us and asked if we would like to order from the menu which we did because we were absolutely starving! It looks like they have a ton of seating available, we sat at the booth. The booth was hotter than the tables aince it did not have any vents around but it wasnt too bad. It took a but for them tk take our order but since it was off peak time it made sense. We ordered the chicken momos, kadhai paneer, dal makahni and garlic, green chilli naan. The food again too longer than expected to come out, but they served papad with chutney to keep us munching. They even asked if we wanted a refill which we gladly accepted. Then the food came and we were on cloud 9! The flavors were a smah hit, every note and every apice could be tasted beautifully and we enjoyed every single bite of our mealz it was spicy but not artificially so, they gave us a ton of rice which we happily took home for dinner. I decided to stroll into this place after attending Raleigh's 2024 Pride. I was greeted promptly and shown to a table; I asked to be seated at the bar, which they quickly accommodated. I opted for the lunch buffet, which is full of options. The food was delicious and the bar area was actually really nice. It looks like at some point the place had been a pretty swanky joint. Since then, the current tenants have toned down the interior. I'd suggest maybe sprucing it up a bit and on the outside too. As for the service, not so great. Let's just say some retraining for the wait staff is in order. I had to flag down a guy to refill my water. There were at least 4 different waiters around, but they didn't seem to care about making money, as my tip or lack thereof I should say reflected. In short, food is great, ambiance needs updating, service sucks. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Guys I'm loving this place. I need to come back for their lunch buffet because that's a great deal! We got butter chicken and tikki masala. Spice levels were 2 and 3 out of 10 (we're wimps, I know) and I thought it was perfect. Still flavorful! Everyone gets flatbreads with three dips. I don't know what they are but the red one with onions was the best in my opinion. Finally, the lovely naan. I've been dreaming about that garlic naan. It did things to me. Awoken my spirit. Pretty good food here! Take note: this place is located very close to the NC State campus, which means that parking is pretty difficult to find. A nifty spot with a unique fusion approach. The food I think was pretty good, but there wasn't anything that hit my wow factor. The service was very good though, the waiter was very polite and they offer rice refills as you eat your food. As someone who likes to portion my rice and curry in a 3:1 ratio, I really appreciated being able to get more rice. This would be a four star rating but ... We've ordered from K&C multiple times because the food is really good and authentic. One of the reasons we enjoy the food is that besides the flavors and authenticity is that the portions are good-sized but not overwhelming. Especially their papadam. Tonight we ordered two orders, as we usually do and what we got for $1.95 each were two busted up single papad (one in each package). Usually when we do an order of two they give us enough to last several days to enjoy with leftovers. The naan were also not very fresh, rubbery and not at all tasty. The Raita (also $1.95) was a small cup, definitely not shareable I'm disappointed. I know it can be better than this. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very good. read more

Food delivery experience: I've ordered at least three different times. The food is delicious. Always almost piping hot even after being delivered, and the quality of the food preparation is top tier compared to other restaurants I've tried multiple times. They have yet to fall short on the taste, quality, and temperature of the food. One of my favorites in the area. I had the Gobi Manchurian and the Tikka Masala. I would love to have more chicken. I believe I counted only about 12 pieces, but i will say this is consistent with all orders. I can usually eat on this two or three times, depending on my appetite. I always have leftover rice that i throw away, so this is why i would like more chicken. Everything is delicious as usual on every order. I've also tried the Lamb Tikka, and that's always very good. I'm updating my review to talk about the lunch buffet. In short, I would recommend it! It's about $15. I was literally in and out of the restaurant in 30 minutes, and that's what I wanted! I was by myself and I just wanted to eat some Indian food and then go about my day! On the Friday I went, they had: fruit, naan, white rice, chicken biryani, dal, goat or lamb, masala okra, roasted chicken, veggie pakoras, either butter chicken or chicken tikka masala (I forget which), and a dessert. I tried almost everything, and it was just as good as the regular food they serve. They kept refilling the dishes even at like 2:30 PM, which was a pleasant surprise. I especially liked the veggie pakoras and the chicken. You can tell that I liked them from my pictures, because I went back and got more. Remarkable restaurant. It's bordering NC state campus on hillsbourgouh at a prime location, very walkable. The food was outstanding, very flavorful and the mango jalfrezi was the best dish. The garlic naan was good but not too special. The onion paratha was okay but the biryani was excellent. Such big portions for a very good price made the value of this place feel good. I stopped in at Kabab and Curry this afternoon on the recommendation of a close friend of mine, and it did not disappoint. Had the lunch buffet, and it was terrific - my favorites were the biriyani as well as the chicken tikka masala and potatoes/green beans dish. Just had a delicious lunch at the new Durham location. The korma and saag were awesome:just the right amount of heat not to overwhelm the flavor. The chicken was extremely tender. Delicious food and great service. We stumbled on to this place and it was a pleasant surprise. The interior has tables and cushioned booths. Loved the the Gafti that was recommended by our waiter. It was an Afghan style dish that was delicious. The Mangotini was huge. Made with real mango juice and they didn't skimp on the vodka. All reasonably priced. All in all a good night out. My friend and I visited Kabab and Curry for dinner (although I have also visited for their lunch buffet before and had a great experience) and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We got to choose our own seat which was nice (we chose a booth). The light above our table was a bit bright though, like in an interrogation room. The wait staff was all very nice! Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious! The dips were all super fun to try - I particularly liked the burgundy one and the green one. The naan was perfectly fluffy and flavored. I loved when I'd get a bite that was just full of flavor! The curry was also very delicious, although I wish it was a bit more runny to balance out the chicken. I do appreciate the amount of chicken they gave us because other Indian restaurants will give you more curry than chicken (which is nice for the fact that you can dip the naan in it and spread it over your rice), but there was little curry to dip my naan in at Kabab and Curry. Overall, I had a great experience! The music was fun and upbeat, but the silence in between songs could be interpreted as a bit awkward. I think incorporating a nice crossfade on the music would fix this problem. Otherwise, the ambiance was perfect for a little catch-up date with my friend! read more

Kabab and Curry, located on Hillsborough St opposite to NC State campus serves up delicious Indian and Nepalese food. I've been going there for years now and it never disappoints. They recently renovated the place and they did a damn good job with the ambience. For the appetizer we got the Samosa chat End it tasted as good as it looked. The chickpeas, the samosa, the yogurt and the tamarind & mint chutney all came together to create a great flavor profile. Next up with the Chicken Korma and the Shahi paneer for the entrees. I love a great Indian restaurant and I was hoping this would be one of those few that I have found, unfortunately it didn't make the list. I was impressed with the menu, it was more of a selection of entrees than many of the Indian restaurants I have been to. Of course I go with what I know for two reasons, to provide a baseline for comparison and to try and steer away from disappointment. The vegetable samosas were wonderful! They were par with what I have had elsewhere, they appeared to be freshly made and spiced perfectly. Unfortunately the chicken tikka masala did not give me the same impression. I didn't feel the sauce was made in-house, it was quite bland and lacked those unique spices typically found in a homeade recipe that I have enjoyed elsewhere. I prefer to not drown in rice, but in this case I felt the rice was rationed on a stingier note. Although it was still a pleasant experience and the staff were great, the food tasted more like a chain restaurant. Cheers! read more

Ordered takeout because like most Fridays, I was craving a proper Indian curry and this place was next up on my quest to find curry anywhere near as good as I can get back home in London. Went for the chicken tikka masala and honestly questioned if they got my order wrong. Sauce was a very light orange colour, not at all red like it should be. The chicken was plain, dry and completely unseasoned. Indian curries are supposed to be packed with spices and flavours. Even the garlic naan was too doughy and once again, completely lacking flavour. Unless I feel like putting my tastebuds to sleep, I won't be ordering from here again. Came across this restaurant while craving Indian food. When I first entered, I was not aware that there was a buffet. You do have the option to order off a menu. There weren't many options on the buffet, but those that they did have weren't all that bad. I've found that Indian buffets with more choices are best. It appeared that more food needed to be brought out and the food needed to be refreshed. Nobody likes to enter a buffet and discover that everything is empty. read more

Delicious every time! I always get the lamb biryani. Spice level 1 and even that's hot but I love it! Lamb is tender. Biryani has raisins and cashews. The yogurt sauce is delicious. Service is always great. I've never done the buffet style, always sit down for dinner. Great place for a big dish of biryani. read more
