Been here seven or eight times--service is always so friendly, happy, and quick, and I love quite a few of their ice cream flavors. Their flavor choices serve a wide range of tastes--from Thai Tea, to Peanut butter s'more, to almond cookie, to Irish car bomb. Their ice cream is very creamy and smooth, and always has a great texture and flavor. They aren't too sweet and don't make you crave water after eating because of the sugar overload. I was a bit skeptical of trying this place because I thought it would be over hyped but I was wrong. I've gone twice and each time, the line is out the door. Come here mentally prepared to wait in a long line! They let you sample as many flavors of ice cream as you want (which is partially why the line is long and moves slow). They have flavors like Thai tea, mango, churro, etc. I am a BIG fan of cookies & cream ice cream so I definitely wanted to try their cookie monster flavor. I will say that it was really sweet so I didn't want to add a milky bun to the mix - that would be too sweet for me but I know that a lot of people like it. The cookie monster ice cream is bright blue though, so it made my lips and tongue blue after. The Thai tea flavor is AMAZING! Tastes just like the drink! If you're into unique ice cream flavors, you should definitely give this place a try. read more

I have waited months and months for Afters to open in the Collection and ruin my diet, and it did not disappoint when I finally tried it this past Friday (6/15/2018). [Note: At approximately 630PM last Friday night, there was a very short line. Maybe the trick to avoiding a long line is to get your dessert before your main meal :)] I was impatient to get my hands on a "milky bun" (essentially a donut ice cream sandwich). I got two ice cream flavors in my Milky Bun: the cookie monster and the frozen hot chocolate. The cookie monster flavor is really tasty. It is a cookies n' cream that is dyed blue to resemble that hungry, hungry Sesame Street character we all know and love. The frozen hot chocolate is an above-average chocolate flavor that I would get again if I was in the mood for chocolate ice cream. The bun is a skinny glazed or non-glazed donut cut in half and those halves sandwich the ice cream flavors of your choice. The bun is soft and fluffy and the workers slightly toast the bun before putting the ice cream in. When I go back, I plan on asking them to hold off on toasting the bun because it melted my ice cream a little too quickly and also made the glaze runny and extra sticky. But, the bottom line is I will definitely continue ruining my diet with Afters (among other things), and I will definitely be getting another Milky Bun! read more

Very good ice cream! Awesome unique flavors with great taste! My daughter had Cookie Monster milk bun which the color is a little scary as bright blue, but the flavor is great! Great flavors, delicious everything! Just a thought if you're bringing kids, let them know there are not a lot of the "regular " flavors they might be used to. We took 4 kids, who wanted chocolate and strawberry and were confused why an ice cream shop didn't have these regulars. But after trying the ice cream, they forgot what they originally wanted. The price isn't much different than other good ice cream places like McConnell's, not cheap but good ice cream is not cheap. Glazed milk buns are like warm glazed doughnuts, but here they're stuffed with ice cream and a topping of choice. You can get half scoops of two flavors in a bun for 50 cents more, well worth it. I tried 4 flavors. The cream base on Cookie Monster is bland and it relies heavily on the cookie chunks for flavor. Personally, wouldn't order Cookie Monster. Mint Monster is superior as the base flavor is detectable. The milky bun isn't hardy enough to support ice cream, the flavor of it is easily lost. Pass. Cake cone was stale. Pass. Didn't try the sugar cone, so I can't speak on that but they were stored in a similar fashion to the cake cone so a cup might be your best option. Overall, it's worth a try and at least you'll get a cute Instagram story post. But if you're looking for a tasty dessert, try another spot at the Collection. I was in Ventura for a work event on a weekend. A friend and I stopped by on Saturday because there was a line and we wanted to see what the hype was about. I got two scoops, one Mint Monster and one Cookie Monster. They even asked which flavor I would like on there top and bottom. It was so good, we came back on Sunday, and I got the same thing! I love afters, I have been to a few of them. This one is in an interesting but odd food court. The street parking is very sketchy. There are meters which I have never seen in Oxnard in my life but then there's a sign that says free 15 minutes if you eat here. So I did that twice and the second time I was so sketched out that I just went back to the car. I am assuming the only way to enforce it is for them to be 15 minutes lenient in those spots which makes no sense. So the smart thing to do is to pay the meter and not get screwed by mall cops. I dont recommend assuming your safe because there is a sign. Just pay the meter and be in peace. Other than that you just got to find it in the food mall.. Alright, this was an adventure for my mouth and.. diet. The ice cream itself is very good. There are many options, and you can sample as much as you'd like - they're super friendly about it because choosing an ice cream flavor is a super big decision obviously. They have a friendly staff that generally show that they enjoy this. I tried the "Cookie Monster" flavor because I was really intrigued by the bright blue color. It's basically their take on a cookies and cream flavor ice cream (it's made with famous amos cookies). I tried this with the milky bun glazed donut, and I couldn't finish it. Oh boy, I recommend sharing this with someone unless they are really, really into donuts and ice cream together. My stomach is still recovering, but I may just be a baby anyway. It's definitely an interesting new take on the ice cream sandwich, and it's definitely worth the experience, so I say why the hell not go off your diet for this one?!
