Literally just left the Ventura Coldstone. When my husband asked for a shake the dark haired girl said "the blender doesn't work right now," and then mumbled something else about water. Then as we are leaving the guy who worked there started loading up a blender with stuff. We stood outside watching as he blended a shake and topped it with whipped cream. Like wtf? Why would she straight up lie to our faces? That's bad business and if we come here again and she is working will go somewhere else. read more

Gotta Love It Sweet cream with almonds that my order tonight and every single time I go. I love this place. They do online orders so it takes a bit more time than it used to. It's Covid times and many places do not have enough employees. I try to be reasonable and kind. It's tough times! Too many people choose to be angry ... hangry or whatever you call it. I cannot complain as the girls working tonight were working so hard, great customer service and they were generous with my toppings. My boyfriend orders my birthday cake from there every year as he knows it's my fave. They always do such a great job. Ordered online. Tub of ice cream cost about $20. Tip of course expected on top of that. Was supposed to come with up to 10 (we only requested 5) CHOCOLATE DIPPED WITH SPRINKLES cones. Picked it up, got it home. Plain cones. Made very shoddily, like they didn't know what they were doing or just super rushed it. One even had a big hole in the bottom. I mean, come on people. You see the hole.... that's not cool. Makes me wish I hadn't tipped. I called and they said in a very annoyingly chipper tone "Oh we don't have those here, SORRY." Okaaayyy... no mention of that when I picked it up... no "hey we only have regular cones here, I hope thats ok" nope. Just act like nothing is amiss. I should have left, but had a 2 and 4 year old really looking forward to ice cream. Ice cream melty and half @$$ prepared. While I think the employee couldn't have cared less, most likely he still had less in him to give as the day was just starting. We went here on a Sunday night. The line was out the door and into the parking lot. Lots of families with lots of children excited to have ice cream. Unfortunately they only had one person working in the restaurant by herself. As I stood here for 45 minutes waiting to order and I watched six families leave. Two mention they were going to Baskin Robbins. We watched 4 cars drive up and leave. Finally another employee came out from the the back and started to help. She helped for about 10 minutes and starting to work on the online orders. Clearly the store has very poor management or they would have the right amount of people working here during the summer nights. Both of these ladies were very polite and kind. read more

Came here on a Friday midday. It wasn't busy at all. The employee looked lazy and sluggish. I asked for a single scoop of cookie dough. As she was getting my ice cream it seemed as if she got me vanilla. I told myself I think I'm overthinking it. Came in tonight to grab literally ONE scoop of ice cream, no mix in, nothing. Waited for a family of four to get all of their ice creams patiently. Even after a 16-hour stressful shift at my job, I greeted the girl with a smile and asked how she was doing. Response: "Yeah, are you ready?" Maybe they call it Cold Stone because of the facial expression and attitude of the employees? Not sure but I won't be back. Waited in line for nothing because I left within 15 seconds of dealing with this rude little girl. Oh and, PS management: you shouldn't allow your employees to have a face full of piercings and tats. I love ice cream. I love PB and Chocolate. I love me some Cold Stone! I have such great memories of coming here after seeing a movie at the Johnson 16. Such good memories. Sad sometimes to see progress and some businesses don't make it, but glad to see that Cold Stone has! Even years ago, I have only good memories of experiences here with my ice cream. And on my most recent visits too, things have been fine. It's rather small inside (in my opinion) so I usually take my dessert to go. I rarely deviate from the above referenced flavor. If ever. I always only get PB and Chocolate. It is outstanding here! I don't know if I could even compare to 31 Flavors, but what keeps me coming back here are the choices of fresh toppings (mix-ins). I like it also that the employees are the ones who serve the toppings and that it's behind the glass, away from sticky fingers or some other such nonsense. :) I hope Cold Stone can continue it's presence here. I really love their ice cream and the service has been fine each time. It's nice to have a change up from time to time of the FROYO places on every corner. Support history in Ventura! :) read more

We really like Cold Stone, because the quality is great and some people in our family are lactose intolerant and our stomach can tolerate this ice cream. Easy parking, and plenty of it. Good, the store is clean and the staff are friendly. I got an Oreo shake and my friend got a chocolate shake. We both thought the shakes were too thick and it was difficult to drink them at first. I am so disappointed I Oder DoorDash from this exact location twice on two different occasions and they purposely messed up my ice cream Oder giving me the exact sizes I got but either adding random mixes or different ice cream... you don't get what you pay for and they mess with your food, please do not Oder online from this place or call I suggest you walk in if your even going to bother coming here or else your Oder will not be what you get . Well, look no further, Cold Stone is here to live up to all those rose colored memories from your childhood. They make every flavor of ice cream FRESH every day in each store. You can't get any fresher than that! On this visit, they had 15 flavors to choose from: mint, French vanilla, cotton candy, sweet cream, strawberry, banana, coffee, vanilla bean, cheesecake, pumpkin, salted caramel, chocolate, cake batter, tart cherry yogurt, skinny vanilla, and lemon sorbet. However, once you add the toppings which can be mixed right into your ice cream or sprinkled and squeezed over the top, the possibilities are endless. They even have a number of "signature flavors" that they have figured out for you. My personal favorite is Germanchokolatekake, which consists of chocolate ice cream with pecans, coconut, brownie, and caramel mixed in. Your mouth just started watering, didn't it? In a moment of sheer marketing GENIUS they decided to forgo the standard sizes of small, medium, and large in favor of their very own unique size designations Like It, Love It, and Gotta Have It. "But how is this genius?" you might ask. "They're copying Starbucks and making up their own names just to be different!" And you'd be wrong. The genius is in up-selling us females by helping us skip completely over our diet angst and guilt to order the largest size available. I don't know about you, but I start to get very anxious about ordering a LARGE ice cream; visions of how much time I'll have to spend at the gym dance through my head and shame me into purchasing the smaller size. In contrast, it is SO EASY to step right up to the counter and declare GOTTA HAVE IT! The prices on these sizes are not cheap, but in my opinion are worth it considering that this ice cream was made fresh on the premises not delivered in a large frozen cylinder via refrigerated truck. Like It ($3.69), Love It ($4.19) Gotta Have It ($4.79) The first mix-in is free, additional mix-ins are $0.79 each. Having trouble choosing your favorite flavor of ice cream? No problem! Just ask and they'll let you taste test a few flavors to help make up your mind. You can add a cone or a waffle cone for an additional $0.79. I've been to Cold Stone plenty of times, but I never realized that the ice cream was made fresh on the premises until I saw the sign posted at this location. I decided to order a coffee ice cream (Like It) without any mix-ins or toppings, something I've never done before, just to taste the ice cream on its own merit (without the help of the mix-ins). It was smooth and creamy and very coffee-like in flavor. I'll probably order mix-ins from now on, but the experiment was worth it. There's not a lot of room inside. There were only 3 tables and only 6 chairs inside. You do the math, there wasn't a lot of room to sit and enjoy your ice cream, but the place was full and people didn't seem to mind standing and enjoying their frozen treats. read more

A 4 star made 5 star by a honest employee. I had no clue there were any Cold Stone Creamery locations in Ventura...I always go to the ones back home in NorCal so I was happy to find this one. This location is on Johnson in Ventura over by the movie theaters and Motel 6. We decided to stop by here earlier tonight to get a quick snack... When we arrived the location was decidedly empty...the young man behind the counter finished with what he was doing and helped us right away. They had some pretty intriguing flavors besides the regular ones. I tried and ended up getting the Cookie Dough flavor. They have a seemingly endless supply of mix-ins and I ended up getting bananas and graham cracker cookie crust. Totally interesting combo...I would actually get it again. The two of our ice cream came to just under 10 bucks...not the cheapest place but still a good deal for our money. We were told thank you as we walked out the door and as we were outside getting inside our car the employee came running out and handed my wife's credit card to her. She had accidentally left it on the counter and he realized it was hers and made sure she got it back. All this while he was helping other customers. Even if no one had used the card we would have had to go through the trouble to deactivate it and get a new one. It was nice to have someone go to the trouble to be a good person. Not sure what it is but I remember eating at Cold Stone when it was a new thing and everyone was talking about it. It just tasted so much better back then, not sure why or what happened to that taste. Last night we stopped by and I hardly ever get ice cream but I decided to just sample their strawberry ice cream. Yuck! it was not tasty at all, maybe its because I've been spoiled by McConnell's and their delicious ice cream but I swear it tasted like one of the big tubs of ice cream you get really cheap at Vons. Every one that was with me got one of their creations but I could just not bring myself to order anything after sampling that strawberry ice cream. Anyways, the people were nice and they prepared our creations pretty fast and painless so for that they get two stars. I think next time I'll just drive a little bit further for some good ice cream though.. read more

The freedom of CHOICE, well, at least FOR ICE CREAM with fresh toppings, is really only provided by Cold Stone these days. Long gone is Marble Slab Creamery from our area. With the rise of yogurt and all its presumed benefits and the comparable fresh toppings, it'll be interesting to see the longevity of this business in the current healthy living culture being pushed. Whoa! Slight tangent there. LONG LIVE ice cream! ;) This Cold Stone is located in a strip mall vacated by Century Theaters, across from Toys r Us. It's very close to the Johnson Dr. exit from the 101 fwy. Parking in the small lot can actually be somewhat of a challenge depending on the time of day. The place is usually run by younglings so customer service can vary from just fine to questionable. Apparently, all ice cream flavors are made on premises and there are usually 15 flavors available daily. Lots of mix-ins to choose from. Now, there is a price for this freedom of choice as Cold Stone is the most expensive scoop of ice cream in our area @ $3.29 for a "Like It" size (a.k.a. small size) & NO toppings. $3.50 for a "Create Your Own, Like it" size (ice cream w/ 1 topping) and 0.69cents for additional toppings. The Signature options are even more @ $4.49 for the "Like It" size. Their ice cream tends to be on the sweeter side but bland in the specific flavor. Kids dig it. Me? Eh, I've certainly had better except in one odd way... this is the only place I can share coffee ice cream with Wifey. She prefers any coffee flavor and I dislike coffee taste (GASP!!! Yeah, I know, blasphemy!), except here, because the coffee ice cream flavor is the most subtle we've ever had and I can mask the flavor even more by adding lots of toppings, Hah! If you're not feelin' creative, you can always choose one of their signature combos or pick out something from their freezer, like... ice cream sandwiches ;) LONG LIVE ice cream in any shape or form!!! read more

I hadn't eaten cold stone in a while since it isn't the healthiest place to go to. I ordered my own custom creation because their creations didn't suit me. I had Sweet Cream ice cream with regular oreos, golden oreos, and brownies. Sort of a mix between the Oreo Overload and the Cookies Make Everything Batter. It was excellent!!! My friend ordered a small size and couldn't finish that either. I think next time I would go for the smallest size. I used the gift card so it didn't feel as pricy as it normally was because I used the gift card for our ice cream. The staff is very nice, but the ice cream has no flavor but sweet, it clearly has a lot of stabilizers and fillers, or tastes that way, and the toppings (caramel, chocolate sauces, brownies) are cheap, cold and stale tasting.
