Cookie Monster! Actually, Mint Cookie Monster is our favorite. Interestingly, I've never tried other flavors here or even the donut sammie. Stuck in a holding pattern. This particular location is quite popular, Afters appears to target universities for new stores and the proximity to UCR and the movie theater is like shooting fish in a barrel. They simply can't lose! I guess my only gripe is when two girls not only blatantly cut in line but hold up the operation by asking how many samples is the limit. True story. I really don't like to leave a negative review. But this place shocked me with their hot fudge sundae. It only tasted like whipped cream half of it, and the other half was chocolate sauce sprayed on top with 1/2 bottom a type of ice cream. It was TERRIBLE. I don't know why call it a hot fidge sundae. Icecream was as good as always - they also do half scoops here so that was great because I couldn't decide from all the yummy flavors. We ordered the * Cookie Monster - Favorite flavor by far - it's like a cookies n cream with cookie dough-y pieces. * Peanut Butter Smores - Tasted more like bland chocolate-y smores with marshmallows. I was hoping for some more peanut butter kick to it. * Strawberry - It's like a strawberry shortcake! The strawberry tastes more on the artifical end. One of the best places to go if you're craving ice cream! My favorite thing to get from After's is the Milky Bun, which is their delicious ice cream sandwiched in between two warm glazed doughnut buns with toppings like cereal, Oreos or candy (only 1 is included, anything more is extra). It is so bomb! It will set you back about $6 each but it's so worth it. For ice cream flavors, whether you get it in a Milky Bun or not, I recommend getting the Cookie Monster (Oreos and Cookie Crisp cereal are perfect toppings with this one) or the Churro (definitely get Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal with this)! They have so many good ones though, I swear I have to sample a couple every time even though I already know what I'm going to get. I used to enjoy taking my kids to this place, but the service has been bad for the past few years. A few employees have bad attitudes, which has been disappointing. I don't live close by, so on our last visit, when I took my kids, they refused to take cash and threw the ice cream away right in front of us. I understand that some businesses don't accept cash anymore, but they're losing customers by siding with credit only. What used to be one of my favorite places to enjoy ice cream and relax has now been tainted by poor service and their refusal to accept cash. I have said this before when reviewing ice cream shops, and I'll say it again here, how can you go wrong at any ice cream parlor- because really... it's ice cream. Saying that, and adding I eat WAY too much ice cream so I know what I'm talking about, give Afters a try. They have flavors that are common like Mint Monster (mint ice cream with chocolate chips and Oreos), but they also have flavors like Jasmin Milk Tea. We went when it was raining (see note above about eating WAY too much ice cream), so there wasn't a line. We were greeted and asked what we wanted to sample. I tried Frozen Hot Chocolate (which tasted exactly like hot chocolate), Dark Matter Brownie Batter and Aube with chocolate cookies. I decided to get a double scoop with Dark Matter Brownie Batter and Aube with chocolate cookies, but only eat a little if both and save the rest for later. Needless to say there isn't any left for later. My sister got the Triple C (chocolate chips, chocolate fudge, and caramel in a vanilla base), she ate every bit too. Manager on duty this evening was so aggressive for no reason. I've seen Afters Ice Cream all over Instagram and thought it was all hype but I tried it for the first time on a recent business trip and it is DELICIOUS! The female worker was very friendly and gave us lots of samples. Their flavors are unique - my colleague and I tried the strawberry cookie crunch, cookie monster, churro, banana walnut, milk and cereal, and cookie butter. We both decided to get two scoops each because #YOLO. I had the cookie butter and milk and cereal (topped with corn flakes!!) and my colleague had the cookie butter and banana walnut. She said it may be some of the BEST ice cream she's ever had and I have to agree that it's definitely up there! The flavors are well balanced and not overly sweet. The scoop sizes were generous as well. It's a tad on the pricey side, $6.50 for two scoops, but sometimes ya gotta TREAT YO SELF! My one complaint is that their spoons are wooden. They look cute, but I was afraid I was gonna get a splinter in my lip when I was eating! If you are near one of their several Southern California locations, I suggest you give them a try! I love the ice cream at Afters. They have really unique flavors like cookie butter, milk and cereal, jasmine tea - so many to choose from. The staff are also really friendly and pretty much allow you to sample as many things as you want before ordering. The only reason why I knocked off one star is because of the price. One scoop is already $4. Add on toppings and a milky bun and it can start to get a little too expensive for ice cream. So my friends and I were looking for a late night treat after going to the Mission Inn lights and we found this place. This location is tucked away in a corner of a shopping center. The only bad thing is that they don't have any seating inside, it was all outside. Luckily, we live in so-cal and we can sit outside and eat ice cream in the middle of December. The service here is pretty good! I have been to an afters before in Orange County so I knew exactly what I wanted (a cookie monster ice cream) and my friends didn't know what they wanted. We went when it first opened with about three other people and it was super crowded but the staff were super patient and allowed us to taste test a lot of the ice creams. My friend decided to get hers in a donut and loved the ice cream, but hated the donut. The donut was just dry and cold and didn't add anything to it. I have gone a few times since then, but because of the astronomical price for a small scoop of ice cream, I found myself not to fond of spending all of my budget there. read more

I first fell in love with afters about 2 years ago when they opened their Chino Hills location. I was definitely excited that they were open a Riverside location more closely to home. I remember my first milk bun like it was yesterday, the Jasmine Tea Milky bun with Oreo. The combination of the warm glaze along with the cool ice cream is great. Now since then I've only got Milky Buns, I'm not sure what combinations taste good, but I do recommend you get a Milky Bun if it's your first visit. The ice cream is good and they do have some unique flavors, but nothing to out of the ordinary if you're use to visiting specialty ice cream shops. My top 3 Milk buns, Jasmine Tea, Mint Monster & Cookie Monster. The Cookie Monster is by far the most popular and perfect for kids and those who want something safe to try.
