This is an update to my original five star rating from almost 20 years ago. The Shop was a…read morewonderful local gem back then, but now, not so much. In the past year - since the new manager took over - The Shop has totally changed. Prices have gone way up, and the new manager is touting stuff like a whole "St. John's Knits" section which I really don't care about. I also notice that if I come in wearing my sweats & no makeup the manager doesn't say boo to me, but if I come in dressed to the nines then the manager is is super friendly, which I find shallow. She also has a weird policy on "Sales"; in the past, annual end-of-season sales were always promoted ahead of time. But the new manager insists on "flash sales" that aren't advertised, so you just have to stumble upon them by chance. All of this adds up to a poor shopping experience, so I rarely shop there now and I never donate anymore. Bring back the old manager, Robbie; she was wonderful, as are the employees who work there. In fact, the employees (outside of the current mgr) are the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1.

She has a very stuck-up attitude and an unwelcoming demeanor that sets a negative tone for the entire establishment. It is clear that she hasn't trained her team to prioritize kindness or inclusivity. There was no attempt to provide a pleasant customer experience or walk me through my purchase. It is a disgrace that a business in Palo Alto operates with this level of elitism and poor service. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. I texted the number and Mario was able to set me up with an appointment for the upcoming Tuesday of that week. The process was pretty quick. Mario took my measurements, he explained the rental process, let me look at some designs and ultimately gave me freedom on the color I wanted. Price was what I expected between $250 and $300, including the 2 piece blazer and pants, white shirt, matching vest and two ties to choose from. They could have included shoes as well but I had my own pair. I'm not sure if that would have altered the price. It took about 5 days for it to be ready, as I could have picked it up the following Monday but it was a busy day for me. Mario even let me try it on and make alterations before I walked out ensuring that my suit was the perfect fit for my special day. Overall, the customer service was top notch and I felt like I was able to take my time throughout the experience despite all the stress that comes with getting married. There was a bit of a wait for the fitting rooms so I put my clothes on a rack while I shopped around. When it was my turn, to my surprise there was an extra pair of green pants that I didn't add and I pointed that out. They said that they added it for me to try on with my stuff! I was skeptical but I tried it and to my surprise the pants fit me like a glove and were super comfortable! I was super impressed they were able to pinpoint my size and it looked nice with the clothes I was trying on! I liked the pants so much I ended up buying them. They're the utility straight leg pants and I even bought another pair online in a different color (on sale) since I liked the fit so much. Their tops sizing seems pretty consistent. I was consistently around an XS. I did try on a jacket in XS but it felt a bit baggy so maybe I could wear XXS in jackets. They had a cool bomber jacket on the men's aisle that I wish they had on the women's aisle as well! I think Everlane's clothes are on the pricier side but they feel nice and I hope to get a lot of wears out of the pieces I bought!

In retrospect, I should have just mailed the return in as I had originally planned. The male salesperson helped me out, scanned the item, and I thought the return was complete. However, when I went home and checked my receipts, I realized that I had gotten incorrectly charged for an exchange for a $100 sweater instead of getting refunded for the full amount of the return item (keep in mind, I just returned the coat and left in less than 5 minutes; I certainly did not purchase any items or make an exchange). I called the store and am hoping the mistake will get fixed and I'll get reimbursed the full amount but this was super frustrating and has never happened to me with another company before - I'm still at a lost for how I could have gotten charged for an item that I didn't purchase....
