I ordered my food and took it home.... while I was eating it I saw a little black thing in my rice at first I thought it was a little piece of meat but I took a good look at it again and saw legs, and noticed it was a bug. I ALMOST THREW UP! I don't know what kinda bug it was but I immediately stop eating. I was very disappointed and discussed because my favorite thing to order at this restaurant was their rice and I would have never thought I would ever find something like this in my food. This is going to be my family, friends as well as my self last time ordering here. You guys need to start paying attention to either the food you guys prepare or the appliances you guys prepared your food in.

Hidden gem. Literally. Soul food, Igbo style, in good quantity. Plenty of seating room. Ample parking. Check them out.

Best Nigerian place to go to, the Egusi & Obono soups are my two favorites. Just remember to tell them mild spices if you dont do spicy. But if you do spicy, have at it. The owner is super kind and makes sure you're taken care of. Definitely a go to place when I'm in Maryland again. Will be back soon.

The hair was a lot longer than this photo is showing. Egusi Soup with Fish and Pounded Yam

I ordered egusi with pounded yam from here through door dash on 8/28/21. The food was very tasty up until I found a long string of hair in my food. Unfortunately I will not order from here again.

Food has gotten a lot better. Love the suya and Jollof rice. Don't be fooled by how it looks inside.

Best nigerian and ethnic food in the maryland area, food was very true to taste and left both of us very full and satisfied. Will be returning back for the delicious egusi soup! Agama is the best!

Nigerian mom and pop restaurant that serves authentic Nigerian food. Food is well made and quantity is more than enough.

And the oxtails...LORD they were soooo good!! The flavor, the tenderness just 10/10. It's that good that I didn't want to finish eating it! I plan to go back and try their jerk chicken and beef patties. These are probably the best oxtails I have had in this area.

Finally made my way to D&D Caribbean Restaurant and the food was SO good. Like, OMG good…read more I ordered the brown stew chicken with a side of oxtail and cabbage (no rice for me). When I tell you that oxtail was falling off the bone? 10/10. The brown stew chicken was flavorful, tender, and cooked just right. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly, not soggy, not bland. Everything on that plate hit. No complaints about the food whatsoever. The space itself is small, clean, and minimally decorated. Nothing fancy, but very well-kept, and I appreciate that. Service was good. The owner personally took care of me and accommodated my request to swap out the rice for extra cabbage with no issue. I always appreciate when owners are hands-on and attentive. Now for the hiccup: the credit card machine wasn't working, so I had to pay via Cash App. Not ideal, but okay. What almost took me out was the attempt to add a service charge. I definitely spoke up because that extra $1? Yeah... it was about the principle. Sheesh. Overall, the positives outweighed the minor inconvenience. The food alone would have me coming back. And for me, that says a lot.

JCK has been on my list for a while to try; glad I finally stopped through for happy hour on a…read moreFriday. Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The star of the show was karaoke which started around 8 (when the bar was getting much more crowded). The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. Check their IG for the official, promoted parties.

I am no stranger to them, having seen their truck at Savor Bowie almost every single time I've gone. And I've driven by their brick-and-mortar multiple times, but never stopped. This one crossed my radar when my friend invited me to a soca party, and I was like "JCK Bar & Lounge? In Hyattsville? How have I never heard of that?" And now it all makes sense -- some time last year, Jamaican Country Kitchen expanded, and now they've got this place, DJ booth, dance floor, bar, lounge, restaurant, all in one. And I gotta say, it was a vibe. The staff was nice and I loved the decor and feel of the place. Bar was cozy and it was nice to be somewhere this late at night that still served authentic Caribbean food. They have happy hour, so I am going to have to return and get a deep dive on how they feel on a regular weekday after work. And I gotta see how their food compares to my other favorites nowadays!

I came last year during a homecoming event for a party and that was fun. Had a beef patty. Parking isn't the most convenient. I had to park across the street. Stopped by for lunch today. I placed an online order and it was ready when I arrived. The server was not friendly at all! I was thinking well since the service isn't good, the food will be good. Not in this case. Service wasn't great and food wasn't good. Ordered the Di Yaddie (jerk chicken with cabbage, rice and peas). I even ordered extra jerk sauce on the side. Not spicy at all. The food didn't taste fresh. Sad! I really wanted to like this place. I know where to go next time for my jerk chicken fix. It certainly won't be here!

However, let's get into this food. Both times, I have ordered the wings and tingz. I know I need to try something different next time :). My food was so good that I had to eat in silence. I didn't even have the energy to put on a show; I just needed a moment alone with my platter to savor every bite. I think the mac and cheese has the perfect consistency of creamy, crusted cheese and flavor. The wings are really good, too! You don't really need a sauce to pair them with; they are good on their own and super tasty. I hope the chef has a fantastic weekend; they deserve whatever they want for how good this food is. I hope this establishment receives all the love it deserves. I would definitely come here again, and I would bring my family in person for a family dinner. Next time, I will definitely try the Rasta pasta or some of their other dishes.

They have a sweet jerk sauce that upsets me. Why only that option? So mad. I want the non-sweet jerk sauce it was cooked in. I don't understand why they do this is way. This place would be good if it didn't have such dry chicken. Can't even eat it. If this changes it will change the rating to at least a four because the skin and the little little drippings it comes with has good flavor. But don't get the white meat. The skin and top layer of meat will be good but the rest of the meat is a waste of bone dry, chalky, dry brick, flavorless chicken
