Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a friend's birthday brunch. I was a little early and they were still setting up the table for the party. When we were seated there were chips, salsa, and water at the table. The chips were dusted with seasoning and the salsa had a nice little kick. I ordered the El Jefe while my husband ordered the strawberry pineapple mezcalita and an apple juice for our son. Someone ordered cheese dips for the table which we all enjoyed. I ordered the fish tacos, cilantro rice, and black beans. We ordered the veggie quesadilla for our 1 yo son. My husband ordered the mojo chicken chimichanga. Food came out pretty quickly considering our party size. My husband ended up ordering another mezcalito while I decided to get a passion fruit margarita. Food was flavorful and a good portion size. We all enjoyed our food and the spicy avocado margarita seemed to be a big hit with the table. Birthday girl brought a cake and the restaurant stored it in the kitchen and then came out with sparklers and sang happy birthday. Our server, Justice, did a great job with our party. Agave Bandido understood the assignment. Started with the queso dip with beef, and the kids absolutely devoured it. I ordered the Añejo Espresso Martini, shrimp quesadilla, and elote corn--every bite was incredible. The kids enjoyed the beef taco kids meals, and my friend ordered the birria tacos, which were equally delicious. A special shoutout to Justice, our server. Exceptional service, great recommendations, and he made the entire experience memorable. If you visit, definitely ask for him. Now for the part I probably should keep to myself... They have an "88 Health Score", but none of their violations is "Standard not met: Insects, rodents, and animals NOT present", so I can live with that. I was a little late on the introductions, so I missed the names of our server and the hostess, but BOTH were awesome!! The food was excellent (The guacamole was made fresh at the table, to our specifications - You can't beat that, right!!??), with a nice ambiance and their prices are sufferable. They have multiple "FREE" parking decks available for the area's establishments, so in comparison to downtown or Midtown, that's absolutely a plus!! Amazing service, handcrafted drinks that aren't on the menu from a series of questions she asked us plus tasty appetizers.... Perfect experience. First, I do think this place is worth a second visit. Simply because the service is top notch and there is a speak easy that's behind the wall that I am curious about. As for the food, it was just okay. Not really much to say except the chimichanga was just "chimi" w/o the "changa". The queso was good, but the chips could be a bit better without the seasoning, sometimes less is more and then put that seasoning on the chimichanga that lacked flavor. Dessert was cool. The ambience in the restaurant is very nice. The drinks were good. The food was okay. We ordered queso and was served the chips and salsa 10 minutes before the queso was served. The queso was not the best. Trying to be different, I ordered a Steak Chimichanga. I could not enjoy it because the steak was overcooked. My daughter enjoyed her Barbacoa tacos and her boyfriend enjoyed his Barbacoa Chimichanga. Our table did not have any silverware and the waitress never provided any. We had to ask the person who served our food for silverware. I would go again but definitely order something different. First time dining here In the popular Dunwoody High St Area across from Perimeter Mall. Giving all the feels of the Mexican culture but with some spice. The Latin music was awesome that was all Zumba , meringue inspired. There are 3 areas of dining , bar area, outdoor patio and bar seating, and another shown in the picture posted. Out sever was nice but once I asked about the restaurant history and etc. shae another sever working took the lead on sharing all the great things from happy hour 4-6 or 5-7 and Ladies Night on Thursdays with special prices Margarita. This particular evening it was a late light dinner so didn't try any drinks. There is also another twist that shae shared about this spot but you will have to go there to find out. I am sure the weekend vibe is great. The bar area has televisions while the other side is more upscale. Something for everyone and the tacos were good. Came here for my birthday dinner. Free parking and they split bills always a plus. Food was good and the drinks, very vibrant decor and lighting our ONLY issue was with our server. He was not attentive to our table at all (mind you the place was far from packed). we had 4 different people repeatedly keep asking him for the same item that he managed to forget every time he came back to the table. We found ourselves at the Agave Bandido to attend a birthday gathering in the secret speakeasy (located upstairs) but initially dined downstairs. We ordered street corn and steak nachos. Both were excellent and served piping hot. The steak nachos were by far my favorite. Lots of toppings and the steak was tender. The order is so large three of us were able to share them with some left over. Finally got to check out Agave in High Street. We came on a Thursday evening around 7pm and it was definitely a turn up vibe in the bar area. People were singing & dancing at the bar. We were seated right away inside away from the bar but there is outside seating as well and an inside & outside bar seating area. The music selection is A+. We are both not a huge fan of Mexican food but we love supporting Dunwoody and its developments/restaurants. Our food came out so fast after ordering, we were both in shock. We ordered the Chipotle queso dip with adobo chicken, Elote street corn, and my husband got the Steak quesadilla. They gave a good amount of everything on top of the complimentary chips & salsa. The Elote street corn order comes with 3 corn so plenty to share. When we finished our meal our server Jillian informed us about the Speak-Tiki that's on the top floor & she brought us up there to check it out. Video & picture attached. First impressions: the decor was so vibrant and right on theme with the restaurant. Blake was our server, and he was the bombbbbbbb. Truly, he was so sweet, so patient, and was very personable, just the right person to have as our server for our first time. We started off with the tableside guacamole (such a cool thing to watch! - see pics/vids). It was delicious and the chips were perfectly seasoned too. To kick off our evening, we ordered the Mexican candy shots. We then ordered the strawberry and the passionfruit margarita, which were amazing. We sat at the bar and had attentive bartenders. They even changed the tv to the football game we wanted to watch, so it was the vibe we wanted. Adobo chicken was delicious without radish but the shrimp with no aioli was my favorite with the mix match combo. It had the right amount of seasoning and toppings. It was big enough too but wish for the price that it was 3 tacos instead of 2. Overall great tacos though. Passion fruit margarita was good too with the right amount of flavor. I've been so excited to come here and however, it gives ambiance over quality. Sitting outside at the walk up bar on a nice day is irreplaceable. The bartender was very friendly and made a great mango mojito! Although i enjoyed my drink and will be back for more I can't say the food so much for me. The Elote didn't have my flavor. Came here for a birthday celebration. Everything started off wonderfully. We were able to sit down immediately upon our arrival. There were chips and salsa on the table for us. Mia greeted us and let us know she'd be serving us. After the rest of our party arrived, that's when things went down hill. The temperature in the restaurant was unbearable. It was so hot. Then we ended up having to split our table because the accommodations we were given weren't suitable for our party. Mia tried her best but she was working too many tables which made our wait time too long. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal and drinks. But be cautious if you have a large party. read more

The food is overpriced for what it is. My shrimp tacos were two tiny soft tacos and small side of rice and beans for $17. That's not ridiculous for the crazy prices of restaurants these days, but it's not a good value. This is clearly a "see and be seen" place for people who will pay a premium for average food and drinks. We went around midnight after getting settled in our hotel. We ordered nachos off the late night menu and had their house margaritas. The nachos (we requested shrimp, $6 extra) were delicious! The seasoned chips, black beans and all the fixings really set them off! We wanted the margarita tree but they said the patron bottles for the presentation were in back order, so we each ordered a different flavor. The Rita was good and made "with love." I wish they had frozen margaritas, as I drink the rocks ones too fast, but hey Texas has me spoiled. lol In all we enjoyed the food and drinks, service was a miss as it took awhile to get greeted, order more food, but maybe it was due to the time. My husband and I found Agave Bandido after a trip to Puttshack which is a short walk away from the entrance. We decided to try this place based on the artwork we saw on the walls outside, and we are so happy we decided to give it a shot. This place was a great choice for some truly great tasting Mexican food. From the salsa choices, to the varieties of beans and rice, it was a great experience. The interior was gorgeous and so colorful. We decided to sit at the bar and were informed by the extremely kind bartender (Rowbear) of all the specials this place offers, as well as that the upstairs of the restaurant is a speakeasy - which we definitely plan to try in the future! There is a shared parking garage for this shopping/entertainment center which is only a short walk away. We each ordered a drink. Mine, a Tropicoco Martini that I had on the rocks - while my hubby ordered the Azteca which very closely resembled an Old Fashioned. We were both torn on what to order as all the food options looked so good. We settled on a taco plate and a bike your own burrito plate. Both were so flavorful and the presentation of each plate was pure perfection. The pricing of all the food is quite reasonable for the quality in which you receive. This is located near Perimeter Mall in a plaza about 5 minutes from the mall. There is garage parking that is free. It was kind of difficult to find. I can't say I would find it quickly again. Lol! The decor of the restaurant is very nice. I love all of the decor throughout. It did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and helpful going over the menu. The drinks were really good. Our shot was pretty good. The El Jefe margarita was suggested. The drinks did not disappoint at all I was very much a fan. The bartender did a great job. The food was just okay. I was expecting it to be more flavorful. It was a bit bland. The birria tacos only came with the compote. It did not come with any sides. You could add for additional price. The waitress said the tacos would be enough. I can be full off a kid's Menu. I was still hungry so ate more chips and salsa. The chips and salsa was not complimentary. The chips were okay. The salsa could use a dash salt and pepper. Overall, I would come back for drinks and just hang out. I wouldn't eat here or not right away until there is some improvement with the food. 9/10 Amazing new place in Dunwoody with excellent customer service by Trai and even better food! I loved the ambiance of this restaurant and the menu was not too intense but had amazing choices. We started with the chimmichurros that were melt in your mouth, homemade. It was hot and fresh on a bed of lettuce with the sauce. It comes with two and that's all you really need. The birria tacos were amazing, seasoned well and the perfect amount of cheese pull. The churro ice cream sandwich had me in a pinch. I was SO full but I couldn't help myself, it's definitely meant to share and not for one person unless you're a big back The ONLY thing I didn't like were the margaritas being in a small glass. $13 for like small margarita to me is kinda unreasonable and they put so much ice in it. read more

The waitress was very nice and efficient. I forgot her name .. a small framed young black girl. I ordered the empanadas and taco combo meal. The empanadas were so delicious! I had a great time at this hidden gem of a Mexican spot! The decor is super funky and vibrant, with a mix of traditional and modern vibes. The real surprise? The upstairs speakeasy!
