If you're looking for a small market with specialty item this is the place. First of all it's a family run operation and you sense that as soon as you walk in the door. You are met with a warm welcome by all who work there. They have packed a lot into a small space. It not only has groceries, it also has a meat counter and a small kitchen where they serve up tacos, burritos and on the weekend menudo and pozole. I was so excited to have found this place that I purchased some fruit a meat counter item and a burrito to go. The butcher at the meat counter was very helpful and when he found out it was my first visit he had the cashier give me a tour of the place. Small store with a lot of things, including but not limited to produce, spices, bread, beans, meats, grill, etc. I came to pick up take out and whatever fruits. Two gentlemen were standing as I walked in and another lady as well as a couple came in to get some items also. One of the gentlemen told me I can buy a pound of marinated meat and have the cook it on the spot, so I don't need to worry about it when I get home after work for example. Tried their tacos (pastor,carnitas,asada) large and small. I had the small street tacos sized and they were perfect for me. My husband ordered the larger sized tacos and they were generous portions and he was satisfied. We also ordered the agua fresca in piña and melon. The melon was a bit sweet for me, but my husband liked it and I liked the piña they were refreshing. While we didn't buy anything from the market they seemed well stocked with snacks and drinks and fresh produce. The service was nice and friendly. I have finally found a traditional authentic mexican market, I moved here from east LA and went to a few other stores but this was the best one. Not only do they have great carne asada, hot food, mexican candy, produce, and fresh meat, it's also family owned and everything is delicious. The staff is so friendly and helpful, please tip the cooks they make great food and stand in the heat preparing it for us to enjoy. They have some of the best burritos and birria I have found since moving from LA. I've driven by this little Mexican market a million times and finally decided to give it a try. It looks small from the outside and feels even smaller inside. They packed everything in pretty tight. I came here to buy some pre-seasoned carne asada for some homemade tacos. The quality of the stuff I got looked better than similar meat at Los Compadres, although the flavor/seasoning/marinade of the meat from Los Compadres was probably bolder. The meat at El Gordito was also pricier at about $6.20 a pound, I think, compared to $5.99 at LC. Also got some pinto beans, which were tasty. Other items purchased (cilantro, jalapeños, and avocados) were fairly priced and in good condition. I'd come here again. read more

My friend and I took a tour of this market and restaurant this afternoon. They marinate their meats onsite in case you only have time when you get home to toss the meat in a skillet to quickly prepare lunch or dinner. They offer deli cheeses and their produce is so fresh - all the food I observed was absolutely appetizing - I probably shouldn't have visited on an empty stomach; but, I am glad I did because I was able to taste their delicious bean and cheese pupusas as well as their tasty beef tacos. Impressive! To drink, I had Hubert's Watermelon Lemonade. The owners, Raul and his wife, are looking to expand with seating for the restaurant; however, today we improvised and simply sat at the slot machines and enjoyed the delicious food prepared by Betty. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they offer specials on the freshly prepared food, so be sure to partake. I had a wonderful experience. What a great little find in the heart of Vegas! Looks like a total hold in the wall in person, but inside is family owned and run. There's just about every Mexican grocery item that you can think of, plus when we arrived the restaurant part was closed. They quickly told us that they could make us something that we wanted, and made us a really good carne asada burrito and two tacos. We chose to take it back to our hotel, as there is no real place to eat inside. There is a table but no ambiance to stay. We have come here every time we want to make carne asada and ribs. Their meat is marinate is super good but I do find the prices are a big higher than other competitors. But since this is the closest store to us in the southwest- we pay the prices! I have not tried any food from the restaurant portion yet but after reading the reviews I think I will next time. read more
