It is now my go to Poké place. Brittany and Isabella have amazing customer service skills and always make me want to come back. Their own marinades and mixes are incredible and they will always give you a sample if you are unsure. I usually get the regular bowl because they hook it up and I always leave satisfied. I will sometimes indulge and get a masubi. It is simple and delicious, but well worth it. My wife adores the crunchy noodles that are veggie based and she swears by them. Ask for a sample of you want to be healthy. For me I do half Brown rice half salad with the Hawaiian mix and extra spicy. Easy enough. Only way to know if I like it: would I go back? Pre-COVID, I was such a regular customer at the Esondido AhiPoki that most of the staff knew my order by heart. I was in there at least once a week, sometimes 3-4 times a week. Hands down my favorite place to eat, and mostly due to Brittany, the manager pre-COVID (not sure if she's still there or not). I have Celiac disease (meaning I'm strictly gluten free) and it can be very difficult to find a place to eat that understands the basic but specific precautions that staff need to take to prepare a safe meal for me. Brittany NEVER made me feel like an inconvenience or a pain for asking about ingredients, or requesting clean utensils be used to make my orders, etc. She also trained her staff in the same accommodating manner, so I was always guaranteed a delicious AND safe experience there. And once you win over a Celiac customer, we are fiercely loyal and tell all of our Celiac friends!! (I used to joke that if she ever left AhiPoki, I wouldn't go back; she clearly was holding that place together.) So today, I was beyond excited to go back for the first time in months, but my excitement was quickly demolished by my experience. First off, they allowed a customer to come in with her dog. Not a service dog, just her pet. Nothing was said. No one told her it is a health code violation for the dog to be inside the restaurant. No one asked her to leave the dog outside while she ordered. Not a peep. But I'm sure for these two staffers that dog was the least of their concerns. Second, there were only the two employees working, one seemed very new, the other a bit more experienced. Both girls were doing the best they could considering they were completely on their own (no manager or owner in sight), however, they were **clearly** struggling to keep up with walk in customers and UberEats/DoorDash orders. The Uber Eats driver who had arrived sometime before me actually broke down in tears of frustration after repeatedly asking if her order was ready yet...it was not...and it was clear that the two employees didn't know who or what to prioritize. Second, it's fair to say that there is a lack of owner accountability at this location. (There were times before COVID came to town when it was clear that Brittany was understaffed or under-supplied and had to cover for the owner/upper management with her humor and wit, but she never let it keep her from providing stellar customer service.) And today, the lack of owner involvement was even more apparent. The restaurant was obviously understaffed and in need of more experienced staff working along side the newer folks. The line was under-stocked, staff was scraping the bottom of the containers on most items, the fish was room temp at best, no one knew how to manage a gluten free order, Uber Eats driver is crying, the whole experience was awkward for everyone. But most appallingly, there was no way for these two girls to handle the walk in business AND the online orders coming in. They barely had a second to think much less time to stop and call a manager or owner to come in and help them...so they just floundered their way through. If a business owner can't step up and work in his own establishment when there is insufficient staff, there's a big problem. I would have had much more respect for him had he posted a note on the door saying "Closed today due to understaffing" but instead, they have lost my business for opting to stay open and let inexperienced staff take the blame for poor leadership. read more

Second time having a poke bowl. Ahipoki was very very clean, had a lot of seafood/topping/sauce options to choose from as well. I also thought it was cool they even had chicken as well. The girl working was very patient and really nice! She told us about the yelp promo. Check in and get free miso soup. She didnt just think about me(the yelper) she thought about my kids as well. She gave them soup and rice. I appreciate places who do these little things since kids dont eat big. We were very satisfied, this will be a go to for poke bowls! read more

I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. Not the best poke around but also not the worst. Though It's down the street from my house so I'll likely come back. Some positives: I'm not allergic to their selection of sauces. They have interesting toppings, like those little red pickled radishes, mangos, and boiled egg. Fish was not fishy at all and was good. Seemed clean, though it's new so it should be. Portion was decent sized. Staff was presentable and friendly. Plenty of parking. Convenient location. Some negatives: While I'm not allergic, their sauces were overly sweet and too strong in flavor, drowning the flavor of the other ingredients. Their guava drink is literally syrup and water. It is sweeter than koolaid. I love guava but couldn't drink it. Yuck. The person who helped me was not so knowledgeable about the ingredients. She had to go ask someone else for the answers to my questions. They don't have a crunchy thing like chips as an option instead of rice. So all in all, it was ok. I'll likely swap between here and the pokipoki down the street for variation. I love poke!! read more

The first time I tried Ahii Poke, I couldn't wait for the next time. However, that next time came today, and I'm extremely disappointed. We had placed our order through GrubHub, and I'm not sure why it was so messed up. There was nothing out of the ordinary, and very easy instructions to follow. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl... and for some reason my chicken was completely dry. No teriyaki. Strike 1. I also ordered a miso soup with it... that was missing (and also realizing that was also missing on my first order). Strike 2. My boss had requested some sauces on the side... those were also missing. Strike 3. I left work and drove to the shop. The female employee helped me out, but was moving slower than a fricken sloth. There was no hustle or care for her job/the customers, so it makes me wonder if she's the one who put the order together? I'm irritated that we paid a good amount of money for food that wasn't completed before delivery. It's disappointing. A refund has been requested for the inconvenience. Moral of the story: make sure you double check your order. To Ahii: please teach your employees to do better and double check the order so this doesn't happen to other customers. read more

Ordered food at 11:30 notification said food was done at 12:30. I arrived for food on time and they didn't have the order or have any clue what was going on. In addition, people walk in and order and pay mind you my food I paid for and that has been marked ready by them has not even been prepared. They didn't even apologize all they said was ok we will look for it please have a seat. I have been sitting in the restaurant for 25 minutes. I would never return not only because the lack of professionalism they didn't even apologize or acknowledge their mistake. They didn't offer to even begin making my order. These people lack common sense if you don't understand the point of ordering takeout and having a customers food ready do not offer the service. Straight up this place sucks don't order takeout. I want to add that it was not necessarily the employees fault there was one girl working during rush hour. She was working way harder than this place deserves. Hire some f$&@3! Staff so they can manage the business properly. My first experience here was great, but my second was the worst. The employees here did not know how to communicate and were not competent with the menu at all. It took over 40 minutes to leave the establishment when we, my three friends and I, were the only customers inside. The employee charged me incorrectly, didn't know how to complete a refund, charged me again correctly, and then completed another refund when they notified me that they were out of the item I ordered. Delivery was late. Zero shock from GrubHub. The worst delivery service, routinely misrepresent delivery times. That said, restaurant also sucks. Try to blame it on GrubHub (correct) make it my problem to call (nope); even though they make their money on every order they send out. Food that should be refrigerated hasn't been for an hour. Food that's supposed to be hot won't be. Finally got them to (supposedly) agree to contact GrubHub - they never did. Never even tried. Had to call multiple times. Hung up on, other person apparently thought this was hilarious. No idea what the food tastes like, will probably never know. Avoid this restaurant. Another nightmare experience from GrubHub. And the restaurant predictably owns nothing while happy to take the money. Update: Got a call from Brittany claiming to be the manager at the restaurant who very kindly went out of her way to inform me that none of this is their problem and that while they are happy to accept the money they make from delivery, when it goes poorly it's not their problem. I think that says it all about the kind of service you can expect from this place. You'd think there would be some apology, some effort to make it right. Nope.
