These are best movers I have ever seen, and I am old. They were fast but careful, wrapped everything that needed it, listened to us about what we wanted, were punctual, packed their truck amazingly well, and finished unloading early, even though they were pausing to get our directions on what went where. Avoid at all costs. Classic bait and switch scam. I understand they give you a quote but then they try to scam you. They quoted us $2600, got there, loaded the truck halfway and did not stack anything properly then tried to say we had too much, and it would cost $10,000. Our items took 45 days to get to us and when it did boxes were missing, and items were broken, then they tried to con us out of a $500 payment they told us to give to the driver who obviously thought he could just pocket that cash, these people are thieves, if you use them good luck. [waaaaay overdue review] In 2019 I was relocating to Marin from SF. When I had thought I had found an environmentally conscious moving company, at the last minute I was informed that they had to cancel. In a panic, I started asking for referrals and Ahmed's came highly recommended. When I called, Melanie put my mind at ease with scheduling and information about how they operate. While they didn't advertise as being environmentally conscious, I learned that their practices were indeed just as much so as the company who was promoting this! We hired Ahmed's moving to shift our office and warehouse from San Rafael to Novato. We had 10 years of tools, ladders and stock materials built up that needed to be relocated. We also had desks, file cabinets and other furniture. Bob's team showed up early and in 2 hours had our entire warehouse packed up and loaded on the truck. They met us at our new office location and carefully unloaded all of our equipment and furniture. They made moving much less stressful with their professional team. I had used Ahmed's previously for a local move and had a good experience so I decided to use them for an interstate move which they partner with Wheaton to do. The estimate was fine and I was prepped completely when it came move day. They gave me a 2 week window of when it would be delivered and were honest about that it most likely would be at the end of those 2 weeks, I appreciated that honesty and though not ideal I accepted it. I was told they had a driver lined up and I was assured of being on that truck. About a day or two before the final day of the two weeks they called and told me that there was a problem that the driver had taken two other loads and they had gone over their estimates. I purposely got rid of some of my things before so that I knew I would be under my estimate and just to make things go more smoothly for myself. I could not believe it, here I think I'm all set and just have to wait out the two weeks and I will have all my things, not the case, basically I did nothing wrong but got screwed. They did apologize and told me how the driver felt bad and how rare this was etc.... That's all fine and dandy but does nothing for me. I do understand that issues happen, weather, mechanical, even personal issues with the driver etc.. but this was none of that. About 2/3'd's of my things show up on the final day of the estimate of when it would show up. I had no choice in what things were delivered, just got what I got. Unfortunately there were several things that I really needed but nothing I could do about it but sit and wait. They did not know when the rest of my things would arrive but said they were working on it. They got back to me and said it was going to be another two weeks before the rest showed up. Having worked in retail myself for many years I would have thought they would have offered me something in regards to the bad experience I was having, not the case. I finally asked, how about a discount? I was told, "I will see what I can do for you". I heard nothing for the next week and finally asked for an update. They replied and said the driver had a mechanical issue and it was going to be an additional 2 days. They also gave me a song and dance about how Wheaton could not give any discount but would give part of their commission in good faith of my inconvenience. The rest of my things did finally show up 17 days past the original last day of my estimate but I was charged full price with no discount. I would never use Ahmeds again after that experience. read more

Let me tell you, I've moved many times in my life, including from SoCal to NorCal and across the country, and these guys are the best movers I've ever worked with. Granted, this would be a very short move, just a couple miles away, but I had already heard high numbers and booked schedules from two other companies who I'd worked with before. From the time I called to make the appointment until I wrote them a check and they went on their way, Ahmed's were amazing to deal with, took one of the most stressful parts of a new home and made it easy. First, they called to confirm the day before, just as they said they would. Second, everything we wanted them to move, even beyond what we described for their estimate, it was "no problem". Even a super heavy but compact kitchen table that we told the booking rep would likely need to be disassembled and reassembled, they just had two guys hoist it up, turn it around the doorframes, set it on the truck and perfectly place it in our new house. Same thing with three auto-adjustable beds, including one king, they moved them with no long disassembly-reassembly lull. I was totally impressed with their physical strength, with their positive working attitude (though they charge by the hour, they moved quickly, always asked what was the next thing they could move or get rid of, never stood around) and, perhaps most surprising of all, their cost. They gave us a bill for the LOWER END of their estimate! On the phone I was given a range of $800-$1200 for four guys, one truck and, before handing me the bill they told me "$841". I thought I misheard them and they must have said "$1,841". Nope, I heard right! This outfit was so great to work with it makes me want to move every year just to hire them again (almost!). read more

I was very happy with how the actual move went, and especially about the price. I had been quoted a "not to exceed" price of just over $8000, which in itself was good to know that there would be no extra charges. But the lead guy kept accurate records of how many movers worked for how many hours over 1 1/2 days instead of the 3 days that had been estimated, and the final price came to just over $5000, a $3000 savings! I would give them a 5-star rating except that after agreeing with the estimator on the dates for the move, when I called a few days before the move, I learned that they somehow didn't get me on their calendar, so we had to postpone a week. And, after they left, they overlooked 3 drawers, which wasn't a big deal and I just moved their contents myself. read more

Excellent moving service. We have used them twice now, once for the move to our four-bedroom home and recently to move my mother-in-law from one elder care facility to another. As we were recently downsizing, our mother in law's possessions, they offered us their storage which turned out to be bigger and less expensive than our current storage so they transferred it for us easily. They have been really communicative throughout the process. At one point we had to change the date (with notice of course) and they were supportive, communicative and flexible. They have reasonable transparent rates as well, and they treated our stuff with care. read more

Really everything you could want in a moving company. I had called around and the moment I talked to Hayley I had a great feeling. Then Tom came out to do an in person quote and he was very thorough and honest. We needed our belongings loaded into Pods for storage and he assured us we only needed 1 Pod (we had 2 booked) and he saved us a lot of money with that recommendation. Then moving day came and Luis, Christian & Herber worked so hard for us. They were incredible: wrapped everything so efficiently and safely. Then when it came to the loading of the pod: it was a work of art! Even the pod driver agreed these guys were the real deal. They were kind, fast and so careful. We used Ahmed's today for a local move due to their strong reviews (and in particular, the flattering text in the reviews!) Our last experience with a moving company (NOT Ahmed's to be clear) was far from great - actually, it was pretty terrible. Multiple items damaged, damage to our house, and poor follow-up on addressing the damage. All this despite a premium price tag and even paying extra for insurance! Because of this experience, we took the time to really do our research. Which brings us to our wonderful experience today with Ahmed's. Everything from the ease of booking, to personable follow-up, to the care that our crew (Javier, Abel & Manos) took on the day of the move to get everything where it needed to go, safely, and with zero issues. My furniture ended up in Australia. Several years ago my ex-wife and I separated and divorced, and we went through the process of dividing up our personal property. To be fair to the company, we moved stuff in and out of storage a few times and some of our property was commingled in two different storage units. I move out of state about 18 months ago, and had the company pack and move me for just over $6k. In April 2020 I received an email from my ex-wife that she had moved to Western Australia and that some of my property including a few large furniture pieces ended up there, along with an art box with some of my personal artwork. Given the costs to ship items internationally, I resigned myself to abandoning the furniture items, but moved forward to get the artwork returned to me. The cost to have the artwork shipped back to me was $530.45. I emailed the company on April 27, 2020 to see if they would reimburse me for the cost. I did not receive a response and followed up with a phone call a couple of days later. The manager said she would think about it, but she did not respond to my follow up email on May 13, 2020. I spent thousands of dollars in moving and storage costs over a period of years and the company refused to reimburse me $530.45 to get some of my artwork back from Australia. On top of that I have thousands of dollars of furniture with my ex-wife in Western Australia which the company mistakenly shipped to her. read more
