After countless moves over the years, it's safe to say that even with extensive experience (with both residential and office relocations), moving can get easier yet it never seems to get any less stressful. I've noticed reliability has become as easy as finding a parking spot in Downtown San Francisco before 6pm. Several movers (that I won't name here) weren't able to show up as promised. When Tom from West Coast Moving actually showed up on time with all the necessary equipment, I nearly wept with relief! The little things really do make ALL the difference! West Coast Moving moved quickly and efficiently - and what really impressed me was Tom's willingness to go above the beyond. As I wandered around my new apartment to figure out the layout, Tom assisted with getting my art up and rearranged my furniture! I had a couple of collections that needed to be grouped together, and Tom brought out some tools to ensure my art was leveled and centered! This was a pleasant surprise as some movers in the past have needed to be prompted repeatedly. Some have struggled to understand my requests, either due to language barriers or lack of alignment. I'm happy to have not even had to lift a finger. Tom showed incredible patience as I was trying to figure out whether my bookshelf looked better by the window or against the wall. He helped me install my string lights to create the perfect indirect lighting. He handled my belongings with care. He was very responsive to my endless stream of questions and concerns. It's rare to find someone who takes customer service this seriously in the moving industry. No wonder there are so many 5-star reviews. Was a smooth positive experience. As if moving and finding a new place wasn't stressful enough, I had to find a Mover we could work with that was within our budget. Note the 43 Bay St., San Rafael address listed on WCM's site by Tom Dudek, is the address for Pile Saver - an entirely different business that Dudek never even asked if he could use their address. See the Bureau of Household Goods and Services investigation letter attached that states he violated many of their regulations - and it shows the correct address for WCM/Dudek, which seems to be his home in Fairfax. He didn't provide a movers contract, didn't call before coming as my property manager stated he would, treated my belongings with utter disregard, brought 11 boxes in a Uhaul, and when I showed him my packing material he ignored it while throwing my belongings into to either my plastic bins, my trashcan liners, or just not packing my things in anything at all (I'm talking about one of a kind art and many other expensive belongings). He let the Uhaul flood with rainwater that was 20 steps away from my home. I felt sorry for his dayworkers and gave them my rain jacket. The flooded Uhaul soaked and destroyed my items further. Pictured is a $2,000 biomat that sat in the flooded Uhaul. Dudek claimed that this water damage is from them simply walking in the rain. I told them to put the biomat into the h hard plastic biomat carrying case right next to the mat yet they ignored me and delivered the case to me empty. Over 90 of my belongings were severely damaged due to their reckless behavior, amounting to over $14,000 in damages. Dudek ignored any attempts I made to discuss the issues and even blamed me for his irresponsible behavior. He took his website offline for months afterwards and my letters to the Bay St address were always returned until i finally got ahold of the Bureau of Household Goods who gave me his Fairfax address. He is a dishonest, angry person who has caused so much grief and destruction without ever apologizing. read more

Originally I had another moving company reserved for my move a month in advance, but then termites were discovered in my new place. Fumigation was required and the only May dates they could squeeze me in overlapped with my move date. So 10 days before my scheduled move, my mover of choice was already booked up until June 5. The next couple of movers I called were booked as well. I ended up spending more than an hour making phone call after phone call to moving companies to find one that could accommodate me on May 28 or May 29. I ended up using West Coast Moving. On the plus side, they were fast, efficient, fairly careful, and half the price of my preferred mover. On the minus side, there was no paperwork beforehand or invoice afterwards, which felt sketchy. Tom was quite taciturn, and I felt as if I had to work to elicit every piece of information instead of being informed on what to expect. When I called a few days prior to confirm the move date, Tom didn't seem to remember who I was, which made me nervous. (To his credit, he did call me later that evening to confirm the move.) On moving day, Tom had no wardrobe boxes and pretty much left me to my own devices as far as what I wanted to do with my hanging clothes. (He said "you could put them in big bags" and when I kept looking at him sort of speechlessly, he added "but I don't have any bags.") So upshot is that although I'm grateful they moved my stuff, I wouldn't use them again. read more

Vitor, Mario and Junior were amazing!!! they were so sweet and friendly, super fast, strong, and very careful and considerate of our things. they wrapped all of our furniture nicely and offered to assemble things. we had a hard move in a busy area of San Francisco up a flight of stairs with no elevator and they still got it done within the minimum time requirement. these guys deserve a raise!!! read more

I hired West Coast to move me from an apartment in San Rafael to my new home in Mill Valley today. They arrived on time, were professional, and loaded the truck quickly and safely. Upon arrival at the new house, they unloaded and placed each item where i asked. They even took apart and put back together my bed for me, saving me the hassle. West Coast Moving is reliable, affordable and efficient. I first worked with Tom in 2013. He assisted in moving my parents out of their home in Fairfax of 25 years into an apartment in Terra Linda. As their health continued to decline we've moved them an additional three times. Each time I would instruct Tom as to where I wanted furniture placed in advance and I never had to tell him twice. On the latest move I needed to make three separate stops dropping off numerous items along the way. As I did not join him to oversee the drop offs I just told him what to do knowing full well that Tom would get it right. And he did. I hired this company to move my rather large apartment of stuff. I did not like that my items were not wrapped in blankets or plastic until in the truck. I found that to leave room for my stuff to be damaged. With that said, the process in which my stuff was moved was efficient because there was no damage. The movers themselves were very friendly and helpful. And, they did take apart and put back together my bed. I appreciated that. The price was right! Called Tom just this morning and he was able to fit me in just an hour or so later to haul some appliances away - for a very reasonable price. Tom was even patient when I realized that my oven wasn't completely disconnected and I had to work it to get completely pulled out... while he waited, holding the oven for me. (I believe most would have bitched and moaned about it but Tom's primary concern when I pulled out the wire cutters was that I was certain the electricity was off - it was, but I certainly appreciated the reminder.) They moved all of of my moms furniture to a storage place in Petaluma, and then hauled all of my brothers junk away because I needed to clear out my moms house to prepare it to be sold. Tons truck is huge. So, you get rid of twice as much stuff as you would with many other mover/ haulers. His price T the end of the day was very good. Tom and team were terrific. I hired them to move my Mom from Point Richmond to San Rafael and they did an outstanding job. It was not an easy move for her or them, it was emotional and she lived in a crazy culdesac that is horrible to navigate trucks down. We had a great experience with Tom and his crew. They were on time, really courteous and you could tell they were ready to go. With no hesitation, they got to it and had our apartment cleared of our pre-packed boxes in no time. We were still packing some stuff and ran out of boxes, they provided us with 3 great wardrobe boxes right away and moved them as soon as we packed them up. Tom and his men moved me from San Anselmo 3 hours North. They were exactly on time. They did not disappear during the long drive for hours like a company I used in the past. The weather was high 90's with stairs and none of them complained. I had at least 42 boxes plus furniture and heavy garden pieces. Nothing was scratched, broken, chipped, or damaged in any way. I saw a vintage Century dining room set in a Santa Rosa antique store and thought it would be perfect for a home a friend has in Sea Cliff, San Francisco. No big deal to move a table and six chairs but the side piece, a server of sorts looked pretty heavy and the china cabinet was 2 inches shy of 7 feet and was one piece. I found West Coast on CL and called them. I knew there was no way this large and heavy piece was going to go up the flight of stairs from the street to the house and then a second set from the landing to the dining room with anything less than three strong and experienced movers. I watched as each step was covered with moving blankets and the huge cabinet made its way from the street to the landing and then up the curved staircase to the dining room. This crew was outstanding, nothing scratched and trust me, this was not an easy move. I would highly recommend them, they earned every cent of their fee. read more
