Enjoyed an evening of speciality cocktails and paired bites. The cocktails highlighted the HIBIKI JAPANESE HARMONY whisky and HAKU VODKA. Now let's get to the food. I would have to recommend their spicy chicken as an appetizer and any of their sushi on the menu as I could not find a single roll I disliked. Thoughtfully prepared, delectable and the service was pretty good! This would be a good happy hour spot with the girls or a peaceful date night as it's very reserved, intimate and elevated. The venue is not that big so you don't have to worry about huge crowds. The servers will recommend menu items according to your pallet which is super helpful. Also when you arrive, the first part of the restaurant ins sectioned off by huge curtains to allow for happy our guests to enjoy their time and from the more intimate parties to enjoy their time. Pretty cool concept.

For the past year, Aiko has become our favorite restaurant in Houston. And anytime friends reach out wanting my sushi recs or even an all-time favorite restaurant in Houston rec, Aiko is one of my top picks. We almost always get the omakase ($45 during social hour). If the beau is really hungry, he'll get the tasting menu, which runs about $150. They time our courses perfectly, and I appreciate they can accommodate my GF request. After an introduction to it on a tasting menu, we started ordering the raw oysters topped with aguachile and YUZU GRANITA! Best dressed oysters in Houston. Seriously. And for happy hour, they're $3/each. You also must order the saketoro aburi (seared salmon belly) and hamachi crudo. We just dined there yesterday and as I'm writing this Yelp review, considering we go back today. ...Really wish they had a rewards program!

tried the omakase at Aiko, the presentation and their menu had a variety of things. I don't think the flavors meshed well with the sauce like it didn't complement or balance the dish well. However, the fish quality was fresh and the nigiri looked aesthetically pleasing. The service in general wasn't too bad but I didn't go during a busy time, I went during lunch on a week day. Aesthetically, everything was gorgeous just not as memorable taste-wise as I hoped, especially considering the price.

We've dined in for lunch and dinner and have enjoyed our experiences for both. We love the romantic ambiance in the evening. We completely trust the chefs and always order the omakase, featuring the season's most fresh fish and selections. We appreciate their innovative approach to creating a unique experience each time we visit. Chef Albert has taken great care of us the few times we've been there! Excited to visit again!

Another round of nigiri. I don't remember what each was but the second from the right with the peanuts on top was our favorite!

We had their omakase experience and it was phenomenal. PSA this is a sister restaurant of Handie's Douzo, which we love. It's under the same owner but each of the restaurants specialize in different aspects of sushi. The omakase here was what we would recommend. The appetizers provided in the courses were wonderful, even for my partner who hates cucumbers. We especially enjoyed the zesty sauces and crudos. There were unconventional combinations such as a Tom kha sauce with crudo, that worked surprisingly well. Ultimately, the fresh nigiris were the star of the show. The foi gras nigiri was also a stand out. Would not recommend the tiramisu dessert (which we ordered on top of the dessert included in the omakase) because it didn't really resemble or taste like tiramisu. The deconstructed key lime pie dessert with the preserved shiso leaf is what's included in the omakase and was substantially better. And my partner and I don't normally gravitate towards citrus-based desserts. Would definitely be back because every restaurant within the Handie's Douzo ownership has been impressive and fresh. The fish is excellent. And the setting is imtinate enough you can actually engage in conversations with your party. Big fan!

I was finally able to try this place during HRW, and I was very satisfied with their lunch courses! The most memorable dish for me was the hamachi crudo paired with an airy tom-kha sauce at the bottom. I've never tried that combination before and was pleasantly surprised. The kani roll was also very good, there wasn't too much rice and each piece had a good ratio of everything. The interior of this place was gorgeous (especially the iconic bathroom), and service was good! They also have a decently sized parking lot which is hard to find on Washington. This place is more on the pricier side but worth a try as a treat to yourself.

    $55 Omakase

This place is so good, we ended up ordering more and more even after getting pretty full. My recommendation is ordering the $55 Omakase first and then adding more as a-la-carte based on what you liked. Each and every piece is perfectly flavorful, you don't need any additional soy sauce or wasabi. My favorites were Kanpachi & Hamachi Belly nigiri, and the Spicy Tuna handroll, which isn't really that spicy. It has a really nice kick to it, so I think anyone with low spicy tolerance can handle it too. The A5 Wagyu maki was also good. It tasted just like high quality Japanese BBQ grilled on charcoal. I'd definitely go back to try more dishes here.

I saw several reviews comparing this place to Uchi, so I had to try it. My boyfriend and I went this past weekend. We made a reservation but did not specify seating, so we ended up at sushi bar. Not my favorite, but that was on us. I started with the lychee martini. It was strongand came out in like a minute... Loved that! For starters, we had the edamame and shishito peppers. The edamame had a lemony flavor I really enjoyed and the shishitos were BIG and were covered in a super yummy aioli. Great way to begin. Next, we tried two East Coast oysters with aguachile. They were incredibly fresh, some of the best oysters I have had. From there we moved on to rolls: the BGB Sake Maki with king salmon, the negitoro, and the A5 wagyu. All were excellent, but the wagyu really stood out for me. The chili garlic sauce complemented it perfectly and added a little spice kick. We also ordered nigiri including seared salmon belly, king salmon, and amberjack. The seafood here is QUALITY. The amberjack was so good we ordered it three times in a row. Now for the service...Being at the bar, I expected it to be a little different but our server was very serious and somewhat intimidating when taking orders. Aside from the initial greeting, he never checked in. I had to get his attention for everything. My drink sat empty, we sat there with no plates and he never asked if we wanted to order more or close out. He was prompt once we asked, but for this price point I expect friendlier and more attentive service. Food wise, this spot absolutely holds up to Uchi and I would return just for that reason. Service wise... not so much. One last tip, check out the bathroom! Very cool design!

2025 HRW dinner menu Kani Maki

I scheduled dinner here at Aiko for a party of 4 on last Saturday night to support Houston Restaurant Weeks. The HRW dinner here was a 4 course affair for $55. They have valet parking along with a small free lot next to the building and another free lot next to a church directly behind Aiko. The restaurant consists of one open dining room. More about that later. After being seated and ordering drinks we were ready to order, I went with the BGB Sake Crudo and then Kani Maki for my second. Then I asked for the Nigiri and chocolate truffle cake to finish. The food started to arrive shortly after and was evenly paced. Then crudo had fresh salmon as the protein and was delicious and colorful on my black plate. The maki were 6 individual portions of crab with cucumber and aioli on top. This was very good and a joy to eat. The Nigiri were 3 pieces of seafood (Chef's Choice) with rice for each and was again fresh and delicious. Finally the dessert of chocolate truffle cake had peanuts, caramel and a coffee flavor to it. It was rich in flavor and very good taste wise. During the meal the table service was prompt and professional. Aiko is a quality Japanese style restaurant. My only beef was the noise level. Even though we were at only one 4 seat table it was very difficult to talk. Yes the restaurant was full but the noise was deafening. I am glad we weren't a larger party for that reason. My advice is to come for lunch or perhaps a week night dinner. Aiko let's work on the acoustics here, please.

Wow visited Aiko on a whim with some friends. We went on a Saturday, and I'd recommend reservations on a weekend. The place is quaint, and we were quickly greeted by the staff. Our server was really nice and she had lots of good recommendations. We tried the karage and oysters to start, both were great. The oysters had a citrus sauce which I normally wouldn't do but this worked out well. We also had some rolls, and some fatty tuna and salmon. Don't leave without trying the A5! They also have a good sake menu, which of course we partook in. I'd definitely come bake to Aiko!

This is my first omakase experience so I decided to go all out. Also if you let them know you have a dietary restriction they will do their best to accommodate you. Service is friendly, helpful, attentive and accommodating. When items came to the table, we were given a description and if more than one item appeared we given instruction on the order to eat each item. Water glasses were refilled and plates were cleared. I ordered a mocktail named "Everybody and Their Moms" it had Ginger, Cinnamon, Ginseng, Jujube, Goji Berry and honey (it was like Fall in a cup) SUNOMONO Cucumbers, Chili Garlic, Tomato (a little salad with big flavor) SAKE TIGRE* BGB King Salmon, Pistachios, Ikura (so good, I wanted to savor every bite) HIRAME* Japanese Flounder (lime forward, tender fish) KINMEDAI* Golden Eye Snapper MASU* Tasmanian Ocean Trout MANAGATSUO* Silver Butterfish ( sooooo creamy) OYSTER SHOOTER* East Coast Oyster, Yuzu Granita, Aguachile (this was refreshing, not too briney) MAGURO CRUDO* BF Tuna, Chili Garlic, Ponzu (tuna was so tender, chili garlic- wanted more of this) SAKE HR* BGB King Salmon, Yuzu Kosho, Shiso (seaweed was crispy and the salmon was delicious) ZUWAIGANI* Snow Crab, Brown Butter (mine was prepared different to omit the butter, the flavor over powered the snow crab) KANPACHI* Japanese Amberjack CHUTORO* Med BF Fatty Tuna (so tasty) A5 WAGYU* Japanese A5 Ribeye (season just right and melted in your mouth) MOCHI - Mango and Lychee - good but they could have been a little more creative with the plating. Everything was tender and easy to eat. I enjoyed being able to taste all the ingredients together. Nothing needed soy sauce. I am going to come back for social hour. The space is good for dates or ladies night out.

Came for Houston restaurant week lunch with my mom. It was really easy to grab a last min reservation on a Saturday for 1pm. Started off with the Kombu Salad and Sunomono. I liked the chili garlic in the Sunomono. And the mushroom in the Kombu Salad. Overall I wish the appetizer were a little bit bigger. For the second course we chose Maguro Crudo (tuna) and BGB Sake Crudo (salmon). Nice fresh fish and the tuelevated by a subtle ponzu tang, balancing bright citrusy notes with the richness of the tuna. For the last course we had BGB Sake Maki and Kanu Maki. We prefer the slices of salmon from the second course vs having it all mushed up but it was definitely a different way of eating a sushi with the fish on top. I really like the Yuzu Kosho and wished there could have been more within each piece. We both really like the crispy bit on top of the Kanu Maki. The textural difference was really nice. Great service. My glass was always filled with water. Nice cute date night space. Overall good experience, but I wish the potion sizes could be a little bigger. Definitely left with space in my tummy. Free parking at the lot right next to the building.

We tried this place for the first time during Houston Restaurant Week and were very happy with our restaurant selection. The ambiance, service, quality of food and flavor were amazing! This is definitely our favorite sushi spot now. We ordered a few things from the HRW menu and a couple of stuff out of the menu. Everything was excellent. The only disappointment is that the HRW menu is not fulfilling and you will need other dishes to fill yourself. The dessert is really ok so I would skip that next time. Our favorites were the Maguro Crudo, BCG Sake Crudo and BCG Sake Maki.

This is nice to have consistent amounts of rice for each dish. I do wonder if this would make service slow or not because it did take awhile to get our food. There were a lot of to go orders and the way they package the items looked top tier. I did see they had a reasonable price for omakase for 2 ($95). This alone I think is worth trying this place out. However, I was not hungry enough for their omakase. I don't know if the machine played a roll in it but the seaweed was a bit soft and got stuck onto the dish. This made the quality of the rolls disappointing. The fish tasted fresh but I think the flavors and ingredients overpowered the fish. I would have liked ingredients that would elevate the fish and make it stand out as the highlight of the rolls. However, I thought they did a good job with presentation in each dish. I tried the rainbow row and that was a bit hard to eat because the seaweed got stuck onto the wooden board. I also thought the menu didn't reflect all of the ingredients that were inside of the rolls. They list the main stuff but not everything else. For example, I noticed that there was asparagus inside of the rainbow row but it isn't listed. For that reason I'd give it 3 stars. I wouldn't order this again. The next item I tried was the yuzu kissed and this was my favorite out of everything I've tried. I do think that it was missing something that would balance out the citrusy flavor but nevertheless it was still tasty as long as you don't douse the fish in the sauce, 5 stars. I also tried the Wagyu pitchfork and I think something that would've made this taste better would be a sauce maybe like an eel sauce. This would also get 3 stars for me. The spicy tuna roll was 3 stars for me and it was more so of the texture of the tuna. The tuna felt like it was stuffed in the roll and was like a soggy texture. Some of the tuna fell out as I was eating it and it also made the seaweed wrap around it a bit moist. I think if you go here you definitely should get the sashimi that way you could actually taste the quality of the fish. I tried the medium tuna and fatty and these were actually what I would expect from a place like this. The quality was there but the other items didn't hit the mark for me. The other item I tried was the Japanese scallop and the scallop was tasty and had that smooth buttery texture. The seaweed again kind of ruined the scallop for me. It felt like the scallop was shoved into the roll and was all soft and squishy when I picked it up.

For food, we ordered plenty of appetizers, some of the daily nigiri and our usual go-to's nigiri + some random ones. Apps: toro tartar (amazing flavor profile), goma tofu (good and nutty in flavor), tomato somen salad (refreshing and nice) Daily: squid (a fave for me), purple uni (we both love this), Sakura sake (yes), rockfish (bf got this and really liked it), a tiger prawn app (it was ok) Nigiri from regular menu: totoro, chutoro, scallop, hamachi, barracuda, shiitake mushroom, clam, and mackerel. Roll: the southern smoke roll (so good). We should've tried more rolls. Dessert: my bf noted a dairy intolerance so the chef made us a light and sweet non-dairy dessert out of coconut milk and fruits to celebrate! It was very thoughtful of them. Also got the apple caramel bread pudding (the only cooked fruit dessert I eat b/c I'm a cooked fruit hater) I didn't get pictures of everything since I got distracted w/ eating, but it was a memorable night! This is…read morethe strange pleasure (and occasional frustration) of fine dining when you cook enough yourself to recognize the building blocks. You spend half the meal trying to identify each note before the dish moves past analysis and settles into feeling. The shrimp toast came first, and it read almost plainly at first bite: cultured tang from crème fraîche, sweet fruit, the faint richness of butter soaking into impossibly thin milk bread. A small herb scattered on top sharpened everything just enough. Then the caviar arrived not as luxury punctuation but as structure, binding the sourness and sweetness into something quieter and more deliberate. At home, these flavors would sit beside one another. Here, they dissolved into each other. Several dishes moved unmistakably toward Vietnamese flavors without ever becoming literal reproductions. The branzino tempura carried the familiar push and pull of nước mắm and sugar, maybe shrimp paste somewhere underneath, though softened into something more restrained. A brown sauce alongside it tasted almost startlingly recognizable: peanut butter, grainy sugar, the kind of sweet-savory depth that recalls satay sauce made in a home kitchen. The flavors are not hidden exactly, but compressed. In home cooking, especially in Southeast Asian food, flavor often announces itself clearly: fish sauce is fish sauce, herbs remain bright and separate, sugar lands directly on the palate. At Katami, those same references are blurred at the edges. Sometimes the dishes communicated more through texture than taste. The rockfish, paired with yuzu kosho, had a peppery structure that lingered longer than the citrus itself. The sakura salmon tasted like a spring time promenade, cherry blossom petals scattering in the bright, breezy sky. Overall, I recommend this sushi spot for a contemporary perspective on fine dining sushi. I was surprised to see other cuisines blended in compared to restaurants that are distinctly Japanese. Katami focuses on a story with each individual course, instead of all the plates flowing together. Each dish has a start and finish, it felt like reading a book compiled of mini poems!

We finished our meal and stayed another 40 minutes talk to Chef and enjoying the sake. It really is more than just sushi. You will not find wasabi and soy sauce anywhere. Each of the sauces elevates each bite you take and compliments it so well. Here's what we enjoyed: 1.Madai (jalapeño dressing ) 2.Hickory smoke sichimi salmon ( crunchy garlic and sweet & sour sauce ) 3.Scallop with sesame oil , truffle salt , fried garlic , ponzu and mint leaf ) 4.Malaysian curry laksa 5.Tuna (Spain ) mango salsa make with tom yum sauce 6.Kanpachi (Hawaii ) truffle oil , Himalayan salt & lemon zest 7.King salmon (New Zealand ) seared with yuzu miso and Malaysian crunchy fried anchovy 8. Santa Barbara uni shooter 9. Founder (repulic of Korea) homemade pepper sauce 10. Seared escolar with pork floss 11. Toro with creamy cilantro lime sauce with kizami wasabi 12 . Hamachi with Malaysian style sweet garlic sauce 13. Unagi with old granny spice and yuzu salt 14. mango crepes cake

Chef Sky was welcoming, friendly, and incredibly entertaining. You can tell he loves what he does, and it makes the whole experience that much better. If you enjoy sake, do yourself a favor and catch a ride there and back. The bottomless sake is no joke and pairs perfectly with every dish! And whatever you do, don't miss karaoke after the 8pm seating. It was an absolute blast. By the end of the night, everyone--complete strangers when we walked in--felt like instant friends while singing our hearts out. I've definitely found my new favorite date night / family night / any-night spot. Cannot recommend Tins enough!

If you like buttery flavor (more fat) cut of meat, then this is for you. Other must-orders are king salmon and chopped scallop nigiris. We also had otoro, sea bream and butterfish sashimi. You also can't go wrong with their ramen selections. We tried ordering oxtail ramen (their special of the day) but it was out so we opted for Nagasaki (seafood) ramen again. Plenty of parking spaces, no valet. Definitely perfect for fancy date nights, business meetings, family dinners and special occasions.

From the specials menu, we started with the spicy garlic coconut milk mussels made with fresh Prince Edward Island/British Columbia mussels in a rich spicy garlic coconut cream sauce, topped with green onions and served with toasted ciabatta bread. The broth was incredible and packed with flavor. As an appetizer, we ordered the Texas Wagyu Hot Stone Bowl -- the only rice item on the menu at the time -- made with rice, egg, kimchi sauce, tawan mushrooms, sesame, and green onion. It was prepared tableside for us, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. We also tried the Spicy Soy Ramen with braised ground pork, chili oil, soy milk broth, soft boiled egg, wakame, green onion, and micro cilantro. The flavors were rich, comforting, and had the perfect amount of spice. The Nagasaki Champon Ramen was another standout with clams, shrimp, cabbage, pork, onion, ginger, and micro cilantro in a flavorful broth that tasted fresh and authentic. The restrooms were very Japanese-inspired and beautifully maintained, adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Gabby was an amazing waitress -- attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire dining experience even better. Then there was dessert: Green Tea soufflé and chocolate milk bread pudding! I hope i get a picture of it!!! Service is GREAT! Drinks are filled. Needs are met- and exceeded!!!0 Parking is self parking, but it was worth it. We will definitely be back again to try many more items on the menu! Come early if you want to hear your partner it gets LOUD!

The bad news is that things come out too fast, other than the cocktails we ordered first, which showed up after the first course did. I find that a bit irritating. Probably wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar. Food: -Spicy Edamame (4/5): Flavor is a literal different so took a minute for us to get into it, spice sneaks up on you (at first it's kind of sweet). - MF Box (5/5): My personal favorite. The taste and texture are perfect. Very light but flavorful. -Tokyo Roll (5/5): Very good as well. -Hamachi Serrano (3/5): Okay. Not my favorite but wanted to try it out. Texture wasn't for me and could of had a little more flavor. -Baked Lobster Tempura (4/5): Good appetizer option. Sauce was very good, but just a lot. -Shisito (3/5): very few in the portion, average. Drinks: -Spicy Margarita (2/5): Not on the menu just ordered it. Tasted pretty watery. -Oishii (5/5): Wanted to try this drink which is made with Japense Whisky. I would describe it as a piña colada cousin. Was very good, could of been a bit bigger (haha). Worth a try if you like sweet drinks. Overall definitely recommend this place for sushi lovers or those trying to be adventurous. Staff was very nice. Valet parking available. Will definitely be back.

My friends and I love to go for their once a month $5 nigiri night and never leave disappointed! When it comes to sushi, the limit does not exist, right? All of their nigiri and hand rolls can be ordered a la carte or if you're feeling a bit in decisive, they have several hand roll sets that come with 3-5 preselected options. On nigiri night, announced a few days in advance on their socials, almost all of their nigiri is $5. Chutoro, otoro, hamachi, all melt in your mouth quality, all included in the special. That's a yes from me. As I mentioned, my friends and I love to do this deal every month and every time the staff have all been super friendly and make you feel more than welcome, providing recommendations and stopping by frequently to take more orders. Norigami does have a hidden speakeasy, Hidden Bar, which can be accessed through an unmarked door at the front of the restaurant. The salmon tasted a little too fishy, and the hamachi hand roll fell short since I could barely taste the hamachi. However, the kanpachi was the standout of the night! It was buttery, flavorful, and easily the best fish I had there. The pricing was fair overall, and despite a few misses, the atmosphere and service made for a nice experience.
