After a 4.5 hour hike, we decided to find a refreshing sushi restaurant. We decided to stop in. We were greeted and waiter was very professional, and polite. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and restroom was clean as well. Ordered the cucumber salad, and tempura for starters. The presentation and flavor for both, absolutely delicious, fresh! We couldn't get enough. Then we placed an order for a few roles. Every single roll, was gone within minutes. My fiancé enjoyed them all. His favorite out of the three, was the knockout, although he said all three were all very good. I ordered the shrimp lover roll.. so tasty. Highly recommend, will come back again.

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Came here on Friday night and was able to get a table fairly quickly. I didn't see an option for reservations online as well. Food came out very quickly and very pretty presentations. Want to try the raw oysters, but they didn't have it that day. Service was very friendly as well. Great quality sashimi and everyone enjoyed it. We'll be back to try more dishes.

This has been a long time favorite, not much has changed since the name change. My go to is still the beautiful roll. The atmosphere is intimate and the service is outstanding. We have been sitting at the bar and still getting that exceptional service we have always gotten. The garlic edamame can't be beat. It's so good that we opt to dip everything in the sauce after all of the beans are gone.

Knockout, Spicy Tuna Roll, Hawaiian Ono. (left to right)

I have had every single Chef Special Roll on the menu. And I keep going back, it's my favorite sushi spot in town. I think I've met all the staff (waitress/waiters) they are great too!

Ronin roll... sans a few pieces already eaten.

Wow! Get here for Sunday happy hour asap! The Ronin roll... crisp... a must! I've never had anything like it. Shishito peppers... best I've ever had. Located in a strip mall but the food rocks.

This place is absolutely amazing. Has been one of my go to stops here in rancho. Friendly staff, great vibe with the Japanese anime decor. The food is always amazing and the highest quality. We always get the chef special, be careful how spicy you ask for it because they do not play around here. Love this spot and will continue to make the drive here! My only knock, booths need to be updates. Other than that fantastic

My new favorite sushi restaurant! When I tell you everything tasted so good even the wasabi was something I loved. We ordered Geso (so fresh and well seasoned), gyoza (I've never had one like it and it was really good), and cucumber salad (I could have drank the sauce the put on it). We got four rolls: Slap happy, Scallop Maniac, Let me take a selfie, and Show me your love. The Scallop Maniac was my favorite but each roll was so good. I don't know if this is a me thing but at other places all of the rolls end up tasting the same, here all of the rolls were so unique and distinct tasting. The best thing offered was the sashimi platter. I highly recommend getting the large because we got the small and it was not enough. The fish was fresh and melt in your mouth quality. I would 100% be going back and trying other rolls. Our server was 10/10 but I also noticed the other servers engaging with their tables and I took a mental note of how great the service is. The restaurant itself was very clean and I'm going to be honest I was so focused on the food I didn't look around too see if there was any unique decor.

The food here is so good! I apologize if the names on the photos are wrong since I don't remember what they all were. But anyway the sushi and rolls are yummy! It tastes good and feels nice and tender. Feels and taste fresh! The service here is good and I've gotten stuff to go before as well. Really enjoyed it!

Superman Roll, spicy garlic edamame, California roll

Spicy Garlic edamame is the best edamame I've ever had! Superman roll hit the spot. And their California roll is the perfect side. Glad we stopped by here. Super satisfied.

Walking in you are greeted with a Japanese greeting. The server was prompt in informing you to sit where you like. We must have came in on a bad night because they are out of a lot of items. No uni, no hamachi, and no kanpachi. When asking if this is a regular occurrence the server said it isn't. Onto what we ordered. Nigiri: Otoro, tobiko with uzura, and bluefin tuna. Rolls: Lion King, Slap Happy, and Smoky Aiko. Everything was so fresh and the rolls were so tasty. I really like my rolls sliced thin, and these rolls had nice thin pieces and the proportions of rice the ingredients were just right. The nigiri did not have too much rice. I am very interested in tasting the items they ran out of. Dining atmosphere is casual with laid back jazzy style music quietly playing. Tables are granite topped and Japan Night Time Cityscape posters above the booth seats. TV above the sushi bar has sports playing. The sushi chef is at the bar chatting with patrons while he is busy procuring orders. He informs them of what is what. Very good! I am inclined to return!

In a nutshell; pretty neat sushi establishment, not a strong suggest but an ok spot if to try if you're in the area. Another sushi place with specialty sushi that have rather unique names. Lots of parking space around. Went during dinner and it was fairly busy but place had a lot of seats and comfortable booths for any time of the day. Servers were great. Food didn't take too long to arrive. Never had trouble having refills for water. Overall always a pleasant experience every visit.

We are new to this area and decided to try this "hole-in-the-wall" in a strip mall setting. Pleasantly surprised. Amiable staff and the fish was fresh. We will definitely return. We sat at the bar, and the chairs were a little too low for the bar, so we will sit at a table, next time.

Ask the Community - Aiko

Is there a happy hour menu at Sky Sushi? If there is, where is it posted, and what are the happy hour days/time?

Are they going to be open jan 2 and is it dine in now?

As far as I know they are only closed today and mondays. And yes dine in is open

Are they open during the shelter in place? If so what are the hours? I've tried calling a couple times to place an order.

The have different hours during this time. We ordered our food around 5pm on Friday evening. They do curb side service.

Are the sushi rolls half price?

All of their specialty rolls are. They do have one small section (maybe 7-10 rolls or so) of full priced rolls. Quality increases with price, but all their rolls are great!

We arrive and we walk in and I notice the restaurant is completely empty. I started to wonder if this place was good? But, I was like whatever I'll try it. We walk in and are immediately greeted and told we could sit anywhere we like. The waitress brings us water and menus. The waitress was friendly and gave us time to order. I ended up ordering a vegan roll and a Philly roll with hot tea and a Sopporo. My friend order edamame and a veggie roll as well. My tea comes first and then our beer and food. My goodness the Philly roll was so fresh and delicious the salmon was fresh and not the smoked stuff. The star however was the veggie roll the avocado and cucumber were so refreshing. At the end of our meal we were fine complimentary slices a watermelon it's was super sweet and tasty. I will definitely be back for sure. :)

This was easily the worst sushi I have ever been served…read more I previously worked as a sushi restaurant supervisor and have eaten sushi extensively, including in Tokyo, so I don't say this lightly. I visited on a weekend afternoon and was the only customer in the restaurant, with just one chef and one server present. I ordered a torched roll. I could hear the torch being applied for several seconds, and when the plate arrived the rice was literally blackened and crunchy from being burned. The albacore on top was stiff and overcooked, the sauce was excessive, and the shrimp tempura inside was soggy. Every component was mishandled -- from ingredient freshness to execution -- and after two bites I felt sick and could not continue eating it. I considered asking for a replacement, but the chef left the restaurant immediately after serving the dish. The server was polite and understanding when I explained I couldn't eat the food, and I left without ordering anything else. I have given this restaurant multiple chances and this was the final one. With several other sushi restaurants nearby, I strongly recommend choosing elsewhere.

Finally a nice sushi place a hop and skip away from my neighborhood!!!…read more We've come here plenty of times and each time has been great. The fish is extremely fresh and every selection is really good! My kiddos love their rolls and Bento boxes, and I love their pepperfin, albacore on fire, large sashimi mix, and their agadashi tofu! We come here pretty often being it's so close to home! We enjoy the service, the ambiance, and everything in between!

I was suppose to be driving down the i5 this entire day enroute back to our Hub in San Bernardino…read moreCA from MCC1 Amazon fulfillment, but a sudden onset of kickbackism set in, and I just laid in my rig's sleeper until I felt like getting up. Come noon, and checking my ETA to Los Angeles already pushed back to 21:00 PM, I decided to drive my rig in town to get something to eat before making that 10 hour drive down south. And I settled for Wabune Sushi in the Raleys Grocery Store plaza. So onto the review: I ordered a ton of food, and even wrote everything down on paper for the newbie server. Hamachi Kama: felt it wasnt Krispy or charred enough. 3.5/5 Volcano Mushrooms: wasn't what I was expecting, it was just a bunch of shrooms, battered up with some cream cheese 2.5/5 **would skip ordering this Douglas Roll: wasn't anything worth remembering, as in typing this an hour 1/2 later, I cannot recall what was in the Douglas Roll besides red sauce and spicy tuna, shrimp tempura....so it must have been a mediocre roll 3/5 Chirashi Bowl: was ok, sashimi was fresh, but nothing along the levels of Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo Los Angeles 4/5 Uni: I want to allege after finishing both Uni Nigiri that this wasn't the freshest, because of the complex after taste, it was somewhat bitter with a fishy aftertaste and the coloring was a bit dark. If you ever go to a Mitsuwas or Marukai or Nijiya and look for that shining glistening gold packaged air-imprted Uni...yeah. You'll know what I mean. Totally different. 3 2.5/5 Amaebi: Corral Sweet Shrimp Raw Nigiri: probably the only shining star or the 4/5 *Although I suggest next time removing the heads of the shrimp and steeping them with Miso soup for an additional layer of presentation, it would give the Miso soup more Umami And what else am I missing.....yes the Oysters at Market Price ($16.00) Ok aside from the fact the restaurant operators couldn't really name where the oysters were from...I'm assuming it's frozen oysters...I wanted to give this starter a higher score, but Everytime I slurp, I get fragments of the Oyster shells in my mouth, and honestly, I find the oysters that you can get at Wholefoods market Alot of times better quality and taste (being better quality oysters are sweeter and have less of that Seafood aftertaste. So unfortunately I have to give this order a 2.5/5 even though I finished it because the ponzu and chilli sauces they used really masked the natural tastes of the oyster. Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream: Skip. This is just supermarket mochi ice cream, you can pick up better at Sprouts or Wholefoods. 3/5

Gamsahamnida! Back…read moreagain, and the food and service continue to be great! The chicken katsu is still one of the best I've had--light, crispy, and perfectly crunchy on the outside, with juicy, tender chicken inside. Every visit has been consistently delicious, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I also tried the spicy pork again. It's a bit different from the Korean spicy pork I'm used to. Instead of the pork being marinated so the flavor is deeply infused, it seems to be grilled first and then coated with the sauce. While it's not the traditional style I expected, it's still flavorful and worth trying if you're open to a different take on the dish. In addition the chicken gangjeong dish that requires it to be "deep fried chicken" needs additional time to get crunchy like you would expect. I think the sauce may have made the crunch disappear. The consistency in both the food and the service is what keeps bringing me back. I'm looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu. Crispy, golden breading with a juicy pork cutlet underneath, smothered in a rich, savory Japanese-style curry that was comforting without being too heavy. The bibimbap was fresh and well balanced, with plenty of vegetables, tender beef, and a perfectly fried egg that tied everything together. Every bite had a great mix of textures and flavor. I don't know if my experience would be better if I dined in, but I grubhubbed food from here twice…read moreand BOTH times something went wrong with my order. The first time I ordered, I got a tempura udon, so it was an udon soup that should have came with mixed tempura. The box that should have been my tempura was SOMEONE'S LEFTOVERS. Half eaten rice and the lettuce that would usually be served under the meat. I called the store and the person who packed my order so happened to answer and apologized profusely explaining that some customers had set down their boxes where he was packing the food and must have grabbed the wrong box by mistake. Grubhub refunded that item for me. I decided to order from them again today because last time I also got sushi and I had to admit...the sushi I had is the best I've had in Rancho Cordova! So I wanted to try other rolls, so this time I got the Express Lane Roll and then the Northern Light Fish Wrap. The way the fish wrap was described, I was under the impression there was NO RICE. As the name suggests, the wrap is fish instead of rice, right? So consider my surprise when I open my box and I see TWO sushi rolls. I was so confused. One matched the description of the Express Lane Roll, but I had no idea what the other roll was. The inside had crab mix, salmon, and tuna like the fish wrap was supposed to have, but outside the roll was topped with jalapeno slices, unagi, and maybe more tuna? It's supposed to be topped with deep fried jalapeno and sweet potato. There wasn't mention of unagi being in this wrap. Again, I will give credit where credit is due...both rolls were very good! But I'm so frustrated that my only experiences with this restaurant were so bad. I did request a refund because I did not receive what I ordered; the fish wrap is more expensive than their fancier sushi rolls, but I also feel bad because I do want to support a restaurant I recognize has good food. Perhaps my experience would be better if I dine in, but my question right now is would it be worth spending more money at this place if my orders keep getting messed up?

They are located in a little strip mall off Folsom Blvd. right next to a laundry mat with a decent sized parking lot, with a little sign mentioning Mother's Day with pink balloons to commemorate the occasion. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated by a very sweet young lady named Violet who ended up also being our server. The inside was clean, with a wall of TVs that formed one large screen, lights on the walls, and they had pink heart balloons all throughout for the holiday. We had already picked the items we were interested in beforehand, and Violet let us immediately order. We got the Hamachi Kama, the Shrimp Daddy, The Northen Lights Wrap, 2 small bowls of miso soup, the BBQ Albacore, the House Wife Special Roll and the Philly Cheesesteak Roll. EVERYTHING tasted SUPER FRESH and incredibly delicious! We HIGHLY recommend the Shrimp Daddy and the Northern Lights Wrap, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of the items we selected. Violet was VERY professional, personable, and tentative and took great care of us. The other server, Gayane, was also very sweet and came over and gave my wife a miniature chocolate cake (made by a local bakery called Heavenly Pasteries) as a Mother's Day treat. Then at one point, Chef Maguro walked around and checked in with every customer and stopped at our table for a chat. Maguro was such an incredibly cool and talented guy. He told us he's been a sushi chef for about 28 years, and it shows. He's also responsible for all the delicious looking pictures on their website and in the restaurant. Not totally sure if Chef Maguro made ALL of our food, so we need to also shout out Chef Henry as well. This place is excellent! The food was super tasty, and the people working there really sold the experience. Thank you for being a wonderful server, Violet! Someone give this woman a raise! And thank you Chef Maguro for being a stand up, awesome guy! We will for sure be coming back again soon!!

The type of tuna was ordinary and to me, not that enjoyable. I liked the salmon and yellowtail much more. The albacore was okay. The large 15 pc sashimi bowl came with miso soup and salad, which were good. It would be better with a small bowl of rice. I also tried the deluxe bento with Korean BBQ ribs.
