This place is awesome. Great menu, great food, and incredible staff. We ordered several things, all delicious, but I highly reccomend the Yin Yang roll if you like eel/unagi. So good! The staff is so nice and welcoming. One waitress especially (shame on me for not getting her name) but she made our visit. Tried this sushi joint in Rancho Cordova (Gold River) area for the first time and I was very satisfied! I look forward to my next visit! When we entered, there was a 15 minute wait because it was bumping and every table was taken! We were greeted right away and the staff was very nice and professional!! And better yet, we were seated within 10 minutes and Jacob was the one who took care of us!!! Jacob was Excellent and he made our dining experience extra good because he was very professional, courteous, and even suggested his favorite rolls! Jacob deserves BIG praise for his customer service!! The food was excellent!! We ordered 5 rolls! We ordered the "that's what she said," "irresistible," "kamakazi," and the "one night stand!" Every roll was soooooo good! The fish was fresh and the rolls did not fall apart! I ordered the "that's what she said" roll deep fried and added garlic flakes!! We even swapped the sauces on some of the rolls.... as we wanted the spicy sauce over the sweet! That is another positive thing of sky sushi.... you can substitute but some might cost extra.... and when I deep fried my roll, it was an extra $2 but it was worth it! This is my new favorite sushi spot! Up to now Mikuni was always my go to locally. The quality is so fantastic and the ingredients are so fresh that they do not need to be drowned in sauce. My favorites that we ordered were the lemon crispy, beautiful and let me take u home. Everything was so so good I can't wait to go back. Our server was also amazing! Solid location with great service. I have ordered to go and I have enjoyed the dining area. The location is very clean and there is plenty of room to enjoy your meal. We ordered all of their most popular rolls and they were all fantastic. The scallop maniac is a must have if you like scallops. I have never had anything like that it and it is so good. All of the sushi was super fresh and prepared perfectly. I will say they do sauce their rolls up a tad heavy. I did not have any sashimi or nigiri so I can not comment on this. The BBQ albacore is different than most other spots, Bbq on the outside with a little crust and raw on the inside. Very good. They have Kirin, Sapporo and Asahi on tap.. You read this right, all of the best Japanese beers on tap.. This is one of my new favorite restaurants. The pricing is solid, about 2/3rds the cost of Mikuni without the wait. The ratio of rice and fish is perfect and each piece of nigiri has its own flavor and texture. The servers are friendly and checks in often to refill drinks and clear plates away. The salmon was slightly runny and the sauce was overbearing. The spicy tuna that came with it was decent. The Irresistible and G-String rolls were not bad but not amazing. But they don't compare to Skye Sushi. There sushi rolls have unique flavors and sauces to accommodate them. My favorite sushi rolls are: Scallop maniac: This is a seared scallop sushi roll topped with a delicious creamy sauce and other toppings. This is my #1 choice. Butter me up: This is also a scallop roll with a hint of butter of lemon. It's topped with a dried garlic. Good life: Sushi roll topped with grilled onions. Sounds crazy, but it's delicious! This is none of their cheaper $7 rolls Playmate: This is a seared tuna roll. I believe there's also spicy tuna on the inside. I apologize. I don't remember all of the details for these rolls, but believe me, they're all fantastic. Sky sushi doesn't skimp out on toppings like other sushi spots. They load you with all of the good stuff. The customer service is great. The waiters are very polite and courteous. They always make sure that your water is filled. They check up on you to make sure everything is all right. I'd like blame it on Covid. But this place has been consistently churning out, old, dry food the last 3 times I've been here. The rice taste like it's 2 days old. The scallop old smell is being masked by putting black pepper in it. I mean who put black pepper on raw scallop? I used to drive 40 minutes here to order 10 pieces of scallop. I won't be doing that anymore. Just so disappointing. Kiddos bento boxes were also bad. The beef is so dry it's supposed to be ribeye, just completely inedible. And the rice as mentioned taste like it's about two days old. Everything just taste and feels so subpar from the way used to be that iI'm so heartbroken. The service used to be pretty top-notch to but lately every time we've been here we've had really substandard service almost bordering awkward. I'm writing today to commend Dominique, a server at Sky on Sunrise Blvd. We went in for our friend's birthday, party of 6 and she was fantastic. Very good sushi for a very good price. We originally went to Salt Sushi but left because we waited for 15 minutes and wasn't even greeted by anyone. Sky Sushi had excellent service the entire time. The hostess was excellent, the servers were excellent, they checked on us often and our water cups always stayed filled. My daughter loved the Yin Yang roll. I loved the "Girl Next Door" roll. Good, but was expecting a little more. Pepper-fin sashimi - it looks huge and it's definitely deceiving to the eye. Underneath is a bunch of daikon. Pretty small restaurant inside. Located in the same plaza as 24 hour fitness on Sunrise. It was a weekday lunch so I wasn't expecting that much of a crowd. For a party of three, we were seated to a booth immediately. The menu offers a really good selection of sushi rolls, rice bowls, sashimi, etc. Ordered like 6 different rolls and for the most part, they all tasted similar. IMO, nothing really stood out. Idk what was up with the staff, but it took nearly 40 minutes just to bring out the rolls, when it wasn't even busy. Server really didn't check up on the table either. We asked for a booth. Our server was super friendly. I didn't get to catch her name, but I should have because she was so friendly! We ordered, whose your daddy, whose your mama, scallop mania, mr Freddy, miso soup, and a house salad. This place is different than most sushi joints, because they use different sauces. I loved their whose your daddy very much. At first, I was skeptical of getting a house salad, because I wanted a creamy white miso sauce, but our server assured me that their sauce was just as good. She even brought me a small taster to try. I loved it, and ordered me a side salad. Who knew it also came with our two rolls. I even ate all of that too! 50 % off rolls too!! love this place! the location isn't too far from me therefore we go here often with my family. I love their sushi especially different varieties of shrimp sushi that they have. Their service is always very good, and they always going above and beyond to make sure you never have to wonder why you aren't getting a refill. Since then no other sushi shops in America could ever scratch that itch until I found Sky Sushi. Their fish have amazing freshness and add pickled wasabi to it... just superb. They just changed over from Sky to Aiko Japanese cuisine yesterday and the menu and preparation shifts are a huge downgrade. As an example, they changed the goyza to be drenched in a sweet and sour sauce... why???? The sushi rice tastes of vinegar. Items with the same name are prepared with minor changes (eg, adding chives to shrimp lovers roll and a much more clunky sauce) that do not enhance the taste. The menu is also much more limited. Easily one of the better sushi places for rolls I've been to in the Rancho Cordova area and Sacramento as whole. The price to enjoyment of what I've gotten so far has been well worth it. I used to avoid the 50% off places because of a few experiences I've had with other restaurants but what they have here is really on point. I used to also go to sushi Nemo for their happy hour from time to time but the chefs keep changing and I feel the quality has dropped quite a bit. I've tried a number of different rolls so far but favs so far would be let me take a selfie, kamikaze, superman, and girl next door. The only thing I'd change is having the fish not seared on the selfie but all of these worked well for my palate. The service has been on point, always checking to see how things are going and if there was anything needed. I always sit at the bar and the chefs are generally quite talkative also which made for a better night. Overall a good experience, and I still haven't tried everything yet so I'll be going back again for sure. read more
