I usually come here during summer after I go to the lake, which is what I did today. The service was top notch. They were quick with the food after ordering. I did the lunch all you can eat. Narumi Sushi Definitely still looks like good Ol' Samurai inside because it looks like the new owner hit the ground running. And why not? People need a Good Sushi restaurant around this area! We were seated immediately a little after 5, but the place filled up within 15 minutes. The sushi, sashimi and cooked food were all better than expected. I been to a lot of AYCE places and normally fish slices are super thin, it's not the case here. Sashimi were fresh, good sizes, nigiri's were not trimmed down, so many options! I love the option to add Amaebi, Fresh Osyters, Uni, and Blue Fin at a decent price. The Garlic seasoned nigiri all were delicious. I don't think I ate anything bad tonight. The deserts can be a bit bigger than sushi size. But they do allow you to order as much as you can eat. Leo our waiter was Wonderful and was on top of it. Our favorite sushi spot! Some of our must-orders: the mango roll and summer roll (both so refreshing!), sea steak salad (so unique and delicious), avocado salad, and crab mix salad. For sushi, you can't go wrong with kani nigiri, unagi nigiri, and their sashimi -- especially sake and hamachi. My personal favorite is the garlic hamachi nigiri. read more

This isn't the most extravagant or fancy looking sushi spot, but it is spacious and they had a great variety for their dinner menu! I thought $34.95 was pretty fair for the variety. Normally I like to go for mostly nigiri and sashimi. The salmon and escolar sashimi were great, as well as all the garlic nigiri options. But I was most surprised at how much I enjoyed all the specialty rolls! At most AYCE sushi places, the specialty rolls all seem to be too similar. But the ones we ordered were all unique and had their own flavor profile! I liked the lemon on the Narumi Roll, torched salmon on the Mr. Krabs, crushed cashews on the King Kong, and the kick of heat on the Ocean's Trio. The Sunrise Roll was different because it had mango sauce and mango bits, but it was a little bit too much of the mango sauce, wish they countered it with some kind of heat instead. Overall really enjoyed the food! Wish the nigiri had a bit less rice but otherwise everything was so tasty and great quality. Good fish to rice ratio! There's also a limited selection of sashimi/nigiri to choose from but they have the popular selections. Their seared garlic salmon is a favorite of mine. Plenty of rolls to explore as well. It may take some time for the servers to grab your order, especially if you have a large group but the moment you place your order, the food comes out quickly. Honestly I didn't have high hopes for this place, but it surprised me in a good way! Came here on the weekend for lunch and though the restaurant wasn't full, it did take a little while to get sat. Once we did our server was enthusiastic and funny. The food came out timely and was, to my surprise, very yummy. I will say that the sashimi I ordered was shockingly tender. But I feel the fish was rushed in the cutting. It varied in size and share each time I ordered it. Still delicious though. The building itself was sorta hidden but there is good parking. They recently added dim sum to their AYCE menu!!! Who can say no to fresh shiu mai and jar gaw, really good bonus on top of the fresh sashimi that they serve. My husband and I have been coming to sushi at this location for over 20 years. We were sad to see the owners sell the old business. However, the new owners did not disappoint. I normally am not a fan of all-you-can-eat sushi places. I feel like they lessen the portions way too much. But this place did not do that. Although the roll sizes were a little bit smaller, they were not too small. Which I can appreciate because im getting my moneys worth, and it allows room for multiple menu items! The new owners did not change the inside look of the place, which I like because it was fine the way it was. Lots of room at the sushi bar. And lots of tables for traditional dining. Really liked that they gave onion. - chicken gyoza: good, also like that they gave a dipping sauce with it. We ended up re-ordering this one. - mini udon: it's small, but had a good amount of noodles. Noodles are typical, broth plain and could use a bit more flavor. But, I enjoyed it. - avokyu roll: so small and sad. Honestly the ugliest roll I've ever seen.. needs more cucumber, too. - shrek roll: like the avokyu roll but bigger with inari (like age/brown bag) and sauce on it. Way better with the extra toppings compared to the avokyu roll. I would order again. - seaweed salad: I didn't try, but the person in my group who ordered it said it tasted weird/not good. SERVICE: Started out pretty slow, but then got better. The bus boy is not friendly. Like he doesn't talk at all. The lady was nice. The best was the white guy who came in for the dinner rush. (Based off other reviews, it seems like if your table is 4 or less, you can only order 20. That disconnect is craaazy and I hope they increase the amt you can order if you're a smaller table) - the sashimi and nigiri tasted pretty good, overall. Not icy or fishy with good texture - my friends looooved the garlic sake nigiri and garlic hamachi nigiri - the fried appetizers were surprisingly very good! The shrimp tempura has a super light and fluffy panko breading - the Toro Nigiri (up charge) was tasty - you can order half rolls Cons: - the marinade for the ikura nigiri isn't the best, kinda tastes like dirty sea water - the sashimi was cut in a hurry, so the pieces were still connected at the bottom - server forgot some rolls on our first round (it's ok, we would've gotten full from them anyway) - the bake sauce on the Lion King didn't taste right, too gritty maybe? - there's no prices on any of the drinks. I met my husband here for dinner, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. He had arrived about 15 minutes before me and was still standing at the front waiting when I showed up. No one had acknowledged him or offered to seat him the entire time. He finally said something to the bartender, who just told him that someone "should be right with us." After a few more minutes of waiting, we were finally seated but by that point, the frustration had already set in. Once we sat down, things didn't get any better. It took another 15 minutes before anyone came by to take our order, and even then, the service felt rushed and inattentive. When our food finally came out, our server completely disappeared. We had to flag down another staff member just to get basic things like condiments and a drink refill. It honestly felt like we were being ignored the entire time. To top it all off, the food was mediocre at best... definitely not worth the long wait or the poor service. For the price and the reputation of the place, I expected much better. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a while, and sadly, we won't be coming back. read more

The best AYCE in Rancho Cordova! Get a variety of sashimi, rolls, appetizers, and small bites for about $40 pp (includes tip) for their dinner prices. I'm obsessed with their nigiri. They don't load it with rice, but the perfect ratio of rice and fish. My go-to is the garlic sake and hamachi, and Yuzu hamachi. If you enjoy tuna, I recommend the Tuna Lava and Hot MaMacita rolls. Also, get a side of miso soup to cleanse your plalette. The service is a hit/miss. Some nights they push out food very quickly and other times, it feels like forever... It does get cold while eating so bring a light jacket/sweater. No limit on ordering or time limit to eat. I can happily stuff myself without feeling rushed. All in all, its worth the value. For a 115 lb female, I have at least 2 rolls, 10 pieces of nigiri, 2 bowls of miso soup, galbi, soft shell crab, and grilled mussels. Don't forget to grab a Ube Melona ice cream bar for dessert! Food was just OK. The menu for AYCE is so boring and unoriginal. First thing is the lunch menu is missing a lot of items, which is expected, but is really cut down. About the food. To start their crab as lists on the menu is not crab at all, it's mock crab (aka flour). Nothing on the menu says it's going to be fake crab, but here we are. The worst part of it all is that the sushi menu is terrible. Literally five of the rolls we had were the exact same thing, but with slightly different toppings. Each one of the rolls had different names and ingredients, but the inside was always the same, avocado and fake crab. The only difference is the topping changed. Service was good. read more

Like many, I came to this ayce sushi spot bc of all the hype it's been getting on social media. Did it live up to its hype? For me no. The highlight was that you could order half rolls, which helped us avoid getting too full too quickly. The sashimi options were fresh, which we appreciated, but they do limit you to 20 pieces per order. We also wanted to try their toro nigiri, but it came with an extra $3.50 charge per order on top of the AYCE price, which felt a bit excessive. There were also limits on other items, like kalbi and hamachi kama, which you could only order once per person. The deep-fried items were a miss. Both the soft-shell crab and chicken katsu were overcooked and dry. The katsu was so bad I couldn't even finish it. The worst part of the experience, though, was the service. We waited forever for our server, to the point where we had to ask multiple employees if they had seen them. Most just shrugged it off, except for one kind server from a different section who finally took our order. Thanks to him, the service improved from that point on. He's honestly the reason we're even giving this place two stars. Would we come back? Maybe--if it's less busy. My husband follows a keto diet, and AYCE sashimi is a great value. But with all the limits, slow service, and the 90-minute time restriction (which doesn't help when you're waiting forever just to order), it's hard to justify. read more

OK, so as an FYI, I don't usually do all you can eat. I've never really liked the idea of them because it's usually just mediocre food and a lot of it. They take your order right when you sit down and we ordered so much stuff I mean just plate after plate after plate and I thought there was no way that these people could actually get all that down the way we were rapid firing all the orders out and there was about seven of us at the table each time, including a couple kids, and I swear they got it all right. So good on them. Their tip reflected it as well. Restaurant look clean everything smell good food was great. The fish collar was awesome and there were these little fish. I don't know what it was. I think it was called escarole or something like that. That was really great. I gotta stop eating the stupid jalapeño poppers, though I'm the only one at the table that likes them. The location of this restaurant is in the border of Folsom and Rancho Cordova. The building where the restaurant is located is very indescript. There are lots of overgrown greeneries/weeds in the parking lot. But once inside, I was transported to a world of sushi heaven. We got seated and looking at the menu in no time. Our orders were served in less than 10 minutes. I was blown away by the quality of the ingredients! The seafood to rice ratio was very appropriate. I was able to try the following: * Miso Soup * Cream Cheese Wontons * Egg Fried Rice * Chicken Teriyaki * Hamachi (Yellowtail) Hand Roll * Rainbow Roll * Hamachi Lava The appetizers such as the miso soup and cream cheese wontons were delicious. The chicken teriyaki was just decent. The egg-fried rice was a bit underwhelming in flavor. All of the sushi rolls were satisfactory in taste and quality. The customer service was standard and met expectations. The dining room area and bathroom were clean. The price point of the AYCE meal was great. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Narumi Sushi. I've been easting there for many years, way before the ownership change. Usually get a bento and have been pretty satisfied over the years. Today was awful. Got the 3-item bento and a spicy tuna roll on the side. About half of the foos was inedible. Gyoza was like greasy deep-fried leather, the tuna roll was a minced something filling, rice was cold, etc. The best part of the meal was the included edamame and miso soup. I will say that the portions were huge. But you can't substitute quality for quantity. I grew up eating real Japanese food in Japan - and I keep my expectations of American interpretations of Japanese food in check. But there was just no excuse for the poor quality of the food I ate (or didn't) today. And I couldn't find one person in the place who spoke Japanese. I miss Samurai and won't be visiting Narumi again. read more

It has a pretty good selection of appetizers such as miso soup, chicken katsu, gyoza, egg fried rice, and much more. Came here a few weeks ago on a Friday for their all you can eat lunch. The food itself was good and the price wasn't terrible but I'll admit the lack of options on the lunch menu was disappointing. I'd understand having some items only available for the more expensive dinner menu and didn't like how there were no sashimi options during lunch and the only grilled proteins were chicken or salmon while beef and many other options were exclusive to the dinner menu. The service could have also been a bit better. I found myself waiting nearly 15 minutes after being seated before someone took my first round order. Meanwhile I saw a couple who came in 5 minutes after me yet they were served shortly after sitting down. It also took a while to get someone's attention to order more food but one of the servers was pretty nice. I'll have to try them again for dinner another day to get the full experience. However, the limited lunch menu and long wait times to be served weren't great. Maybe I'll have a better time ordering from the more expensive menu lol. read more

Misleading kids prices. Love the food and service. The menu states to add $2.95 per child's age. However, the actual price per child is 2 TIMES the age of the child. This is another one of my favorites. We have always tried the all-you-can-eat option. We stumbled on this place by accident. Well actually thanks to Instagram and we have not been disappointed. I've been about four times over the last six months or so and the food's always fresh the temporary shrimp comes out piping hot the softshell crab I mean, you can get a lot of food for little money. I believe it's $35 or $40. All you can eat option but for the rolls and the rolls are full size. They will ask you how many pieces of sashimi you want. There's so much to choose from. You can have an entire experience here again. Everything's really fresh and done well I am particular about rolls and sushi and my sashimi and I've never been disappointed. Everything's been beautifully presented, and everything's always fresh so this place is definitely a winner. read more

They should just call it a different option instead of dinner but whatever. The food was good, each roll comes with four rolls, I was expecting more, but you can always order more. We weren't super hungry so the pace the food came out was fine but if you come hungry you will have to wait a bit for the food to come out. I was disappointed with the fried bananas as it was very crispy, and they add artificial flavors to the ice cream, the strawberry flavor had red 40. Overall pretty good for the price. read more

We were greeted and seated almost immediately by a very friendly young man. Water, wasabi, etc. was delivered just after we settled into our booth, and the waiter came by to check in. We ordered seaweed salad as an appetizer, and our entrees. Beverages and appetizer were promptly delivered, along the miso soup that was included with my Bento box dinner. The seaweed salad was fresh, and the portion was very large. (I would have preferred it to be a bit less sweet, but that's just a personal preference.) *Do need to note that I had requested a fork, but none was provided. My husband actually got up and found one for me. My entree came within a reasonable timeframe. It was as expected - a small salad of spring greens, teriyaki salmon perfectly cooked, a large portion of rice, 8 small California rolls, and 3 pieces of tuna Nigiri. The slices of tuna were rather thin, and the California rolls were a bit heavy on the mayonnaise - minor quibbles. My husband had ordered a Lion King roll, and it was served about 8-10 minutes after my entree. He really enjoyed it! All in all, a good value for the money - we shared some of the Bento contents, and brought enough home for another meal. The service was pretty good, and the place was clean with a nice ambience. I went the weekend of July 4th with some friends , and noticed the sashimi was not as fresh , my friends said they can also taste the fridge taste in the fish and many of the grilled food we ordered such as beef short rib and hamachi Kama was more on the burned side :( deep fried food like squid , takoyaki, fried banana and red bean sesame ball was good, They did added more dessert selection , ube ice cream was great and rolls are not bad and not heavily stuffed with rice. Hoping the management will see this and address the sashimi quality. Definitely want to make this our go to for sushi buffet ! For the pricing and selection it is a great sushi buffet to try.
