They were in our basement, our attic, and even on top of our roof to service the AC units. They also installed sensors so we'll know if we ever have another leak of any kind. It was a real pleasure to work with Bulga, Helen, Raymond, OD and the rest of their team. I needed a complete overhaul of my ductwork and HVAC system, which was an improperly sized gas furnace and a condenser using an outdated refrigerant. Air Comfort Experts had what I was looking for: a variable heat pump that's extremely efficient. Bulga and Helen were very quick to respond in scheduling a site visit and providing a free estimate with options. They handled the AQMD heat pump rebate seamlessly on my behalf, which is one less thing for me to worry about. When it came to the job, Raymond, OD, and the crew were great. They were very respectful of my home, placing mats to keep the hallways clean while they went about their work. It was a very tight space, both in the mechanical closet as well as in the attic, so my hat's off to them for replacing all the ductwork and getting the new air handler installed. The additional return duct was cut in beautifully too. My old condenser was on the rooftop, so they lined up a crane and built a custom mounting rack for the new one. After getting a few quotes, we decided to have Air Comfort Experts upgrade our HVAC with a heat pump in place of the aging traditional AC/furnace (which had trouble in the summer heat wave). They had equipment available (another bid we were interested in simply couldn't find the needed equipment), and were ready to go. Notably, they also offered a very attractive price for installing a Trane system with variable speed compressor and air handler (once you've had variable speed, you'll never be happy with old one-speed air handlers again!). The Trane equipment is generally highly rated, and we had good experience with Trane variable-speed AC at a previous house. The installation in October was smooth and professional, although a few key parts (the zone thermostats) were out-of-stock, which delayed completion of the job until early January. ACE also included the required HERS test and inspection fees in their bid, which I appreciated. And we just passed inspection with only extremely minor corrections! The pricing of heat pumps is a little crazy right now, since Federal incentives are kicking in and are quite complicated (depending on neighborhood, income, etc.), but we got a manufacturer discount and a small tax credit, and more importantly, got our system installed before there's a rush with the new, larger tax incentives. The system works very smoothly and is incredibly quiet. Unless you pay close attention, you simply don't know whether it's running or not. The Trane system has been around for a while, and works well. The only weak point is the Trane thermostats, whose software, website, and features are pretty dated (compared to Nest or Ecobee), and really need an update. Working with ACE, especially with Bethy at the office, was normally smooth. My one piece of feedback to ACE is to be a little more pro-active about communication and responding to messages, which sometimes took a while. But given their extremely competitive price, that was worth working through. read more

It was time to replace the 80s-era central AC unit for my home and it was nice working with ACE from getting the quote from Bulga, having ACE work with the subcontractor for the removal/abatement of the asbestos-insulated ductwork, removing the old unit from the roof and installing the new unit on the ground in the backyard. I replaced the old natural gas furnace/air conditioning units with Trane heat pump/air handling units since the State instant rebate and Federal tax credit for heat pump systems were available and made the Trane high efficiency/quiet system a good value compared to the Daikin and Mitsubishi options. The office was good with communicating with me to schedule the work and City permit inspections and lead technician Od was a pleasure to work with and provided good customer service while he answered all my questions all while leading the hard working crew throughout the installation process. ACE was also good at following up to ensure the work passed the City inspection in a timely manner and provided prompt & responsive customer service after the installation was complete. The system has been working fine for the past 2 months keeping the house cool/warm as needed without electric bill increase so far, but we haven't experienced the coldest/hottest temperatures in LA yet. She was professional, accepted responsibility and offered to correct the situation. I so appreciate that in a business. I would call them again and give them another chance. As i said in my previous review the technician was good and the work satisfactory. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is the time and frustration it took on my part to get here. When i call them next time my hope is for a easier experience. In the meantime, they seem to be a standup company that values the client over the job. I really can't ask for more than that. Original Review_ This is a tough review to write. The technician was good and polite. The work was satisfactory. I hired this company to clean two new split hvac systems that were exposed to smoke. The work itself was basic, take the units apart, clean where needed, reassemble, and test. I spoke with Tony, the office person, 4 times prior to the appt in order to get clear pricing and set my expectations. He quoted me $156.00 to do the above work for both units. I clarified this with him, and he even texted me the price for this work and the potential additional costs should the units need a chemical clean or parts. Then the day of the appt the technician took the first unit apart, cleaned the inside, no additional work, parts, or chemical cleaning was required and told me the price would be $156.00 per unit. Tony had quoted me $156.00 for both units I explained. I called Tony and discussed the situation with him. He told me he had found out the day before that the price would be $156.00 per unit but forgot to let me know, even though we had spoken at length the day before about pricing and expectations. This was a classic bait and switch and the very reason i was so clear with Tony and discussed at length with the pricing. Even though he admitted to not informing me of the price change, he refused to compromise with me on the price, or honor the price he quoted me, and went as far as to say that if he adjusted the price it would come out of his pay or the technicians play. Which is just guilt manipulation and bs. After a few minutes he started to back pedal and try to say that he quoted me $156.00 per unit, after already admitting he had made a mistake. The conversation was clearly going nowhere. Here is the problem, most of these service companies operate this way. It is the reason i am so detailed in my conversations and notes when working with and hiring service companies. I would have been fine paying $156.00 per unit if that was the price he quoted me to start. Their dishonest and deceitful business practice is what sours me on this company. If they had been honest and upfront with me they would have an on going client, i would have referred them to my friends, and i would have written a great review. Instead, there deceitful and misleading business practices lead me to write this review. I even asked him if he wanted a job or a long term client. He choose a job. I was extremely nervous about installing a 3 unit Mitsubishi mini split in my Topanga home because I felt it would be a drastic change to my little Canyon interior. Burga's team arrived right on time and explained exactly what the process would be throughout the day. We did a very detailed examination of the locations for the compressor on my roof, where the hoses would be tied into the units & and where water will drip into my gardens when I use the AC. Before entering my house, all my floors & carpets were covered and sealed w tape. Immediately after any drilling the installers vacuumed thoroughly so I had no clean up whatsoever. All 5 workers were absolutely professional, Knowledgeable and courteous, totally respectful of my property & home. Had broken AC that had been installed about 6 years ago. Called another service on Yelp (the people who had installed it) and asked for service call. One guy came, took a cursory look, charged us $250 *for an estimate* and then went back to the office. The next week they sent us a suggested diagnostic procedure that would have cost well over $1k. I then called Air Comfort and they send *three* guys who were clean, courteous, and on time. They examined the AC unit, reconnected a loose wire, disassembled and checked the rest of of it, can charged $78. Remarkable. I dropped them a C-note and will be a customer for life. read more

The owner of this company, Bulga, reached out to me. We had a good chat and I have revised my review to reflect this. Things started out okay with this company coming out fairly quickly when I made an appointment. They were on time and the technician that came out was friendly. There was also good communication between me and the technician. However, after the initial visit, things started to go downhill. I do have an older A/C unit with a heat pump and when it was not cooling in the extreme heat they came out to diagnose the problem. The tech that came was nice and I watched him as he took off the cover to the outside unit and probed and prodded in there. he checked voltages and at one point i saw sparks. Now I am not an electrician, but when sparks fly from small wires, that's not a good thing. After abut half an hour of poking and prodding he had determined that the control board was bad and since this is an older unit that they would have to order the board and replace it. I was quoted about 500 for the board, but when I got the actual quote it was close to $900! I get it, supply chain issues, pandemic and all that, but $900? When it came down to it I asked around and found out it was never the board. Turns out it was a contactor, a simple part that acts as a high powered switch. This was a $20 dollar part at most. To have that replaced, about $100 in labor and parts, not from this company of course. So, misdiagnosed problem. Person COULD have fried my board with all his poking and prodding as I heard relays and saw sparks, and the parts are way more expensive. Strike 1. Strike 2 There was an issue with my credit card and I am not sure what happened. They use a secure processing app to chatge credit cards and it is a big company they use. However it was after using this company that my card number got stolen. They have all my info, including billing address and the security code. Was it an employee? I honestly don't know, but as a precaution, always check your bills! In the end, the company refunded me the cost of the diagnostics and my card has been reissued with no further incident. So at least they are doing their best to make things right. read more

An error popped up on our Daikin thermostat and I called the company that installed our system about a year ago. They went out of business and a local HVAC company bought their number. That company didn't have Daikin system experience so we called Daikin directly and the directed us to Air Comfort Experts. OD was our technician and remedied the error we were getting on the thermostat and recommended a new intake duct, which we scheduled for a later date. He was professional and had a lot of knowledge about the Daikin system, which seems to be rare these days. They came out on the day of when we needed an AC fix. However, the service was ok for the price they asked for. They promised the work can be done around 3 hours. However, 3 ppl came in for the inspection and after that was gone for more than 2 hours in the middle of the day. We had to call and follow up, then 2 guys came back to work on the AC unit. They barely spoke English, it was difficult to communicate, and they didn't bring enough supplies that they needed for the work. They wanted to leave for the day to get more supplies but after we made multiple complaints they returned and finished the job. They gave us a 10% refund to address our complaints. Always professional! Before we called Air Comfort, another company tied to home warranty (American Home Shield; awful company) did the outdoor unit and they messed everything up. Air comfort came to the rescue and matched the outdoor unit with out indoor unit (we live in apt) and fixed a hole that was drilled in our Freon pipes outdoors. Because it had to be a custom job there was something off with the wiring and we've had a few times where Air comfort had to come back and fix it under their warranty so no charge! We were looking to replace an old resistance heating system from the 1960's in my Condo with a ducted split system. We contacted several HVAC companies and decided to go with Air Comport Experts based on professionalism, cost and the system they suggested. Bulga was great, even had the initial consult over Zoom since we were in a hurry, I later found out he was joining from an airport while traveling. He came out for an in person quote once he was back in town. He was very accommodating to our needs and seemed very knowledgeable. I thought it would take a few weeks to get started with the install because plans needed to generated and cleared by our Home Owners, he got everything done quickly and reached out to the HOA president and was ready to start next week. His team of installers were great, they did exactly what we had discussed with Bulga. Other companies wanted to open large areas of drywall to run the refrigerant lines between the indoor and outdoor units, Bulga's team was able to fish the lines thru the soffit and completed the install with minimal drywall removal. I had an '80s (I think) HVAC rooftop package unit that needed to be replaced. I didn't want the unit on the roof any longer, but wanted to weigh the pros/cons of replacing it with a split system heat pump/air handler, so I checked reviews on Yelp and got several quotes for both (package and split). I contacted Air Comfort Experts and the following day, Bulga came out to my home. I told him what I wanted/needed and he gave me 3 quotes for different systems. He was very professional and gave me lots of info on the differing systems as well as info regarding possible rebates/tax credits (AQMD Clean Air/Tech Clean CA rebates) that I didn't get from the other companies that could save me lots of $ on a new install. I went with Air Comfort Experts for my project because of Bulga's expertise and because they gave me the best price to remove the old rooftop unit and replace it with a top of the line split system. This project required a lot of work and the Air Comfort crew did an outstanding job. They accessed the attic through the roof to work on the ductwork and install the air handler so that they wouldn't trouble us by walking through the house. Within approx. 2.5 to 3 days, these guys had the old system gone and the new one was fully installed. I am very happy with the split system because it's so quiet and now I can enjoy having super-cold air in my house. I called Air Comfort Experts after I had NRG come out and perform an. annual AC summer check-up. The technician from NRG could not get my AC UNIT to work, which was really strange to me, since I had just used the unit a week prior. The NRG tech stated my unit was old and he could get me a new unit around $7500. After the NRG tech left, I noticed that the box cover next to the AC unit did not look right. I had my home painted and the box was painted; however, after the NRG tech left, I noticed the color of the box was visible and the cover was falling off. took off the top cover and immediately saw all the hazard notices. As soon as Raymond, the tech from Air Comfort Experts came, I told him about my suspicions. He opened the box and found that the fuse was removed and therefore the unit wasn't getting power. The NRG tech told me to turn on the AC unit, so I went inside my home and he had just enough time to sabotage the system. I had to pay $350 to get a new Disconnect Box installed, but that's definitely much less than a new unit. read more

No upselling. (3)Incredible service. Used them for my outside office minisplit installation and repair of inhouse central air emergency. Now I can say with confidence that I fully appreciated working with this company. Before the installation, Bulga discussed the full range of options. He was informed and direct in his presentation. His bid was competitive with others we received for comparable equipment, but with the added bonus of an extended warrantee. Office staff was friendly and responsive, as they coordinated scheduling. We had the ductwork fully replaced, added a second air intake and several new registers. Installation went smoothly and efficiently, and the project was completed on time. The crew was courteous, pleasant, and good-natured. The system (Daikin 4 ton, variable speed) passed the HERS test with no problem and was permitted easily. Bulga designed the ducting appropriately, so that each room receives just the right amount of airflow. He set up the excellent electronic thermostat and demonstrated how to use it. As for system performance: Both the cooling and heating are wonderful--quiet, efficient, and appropriate for the space. The outdoor compressor is a tad noisier than we'd expected, but the inside air handler is very quiet; in the rooms that aren't near the compressor, the system sound is a mere whisper. We have had no problems with the Daikin unit since it was installed, and are confident that if anything went wrong, Bulga would be right on the scene to correct the issues. Bottom line: I highly recommend Air Comfort Experts for any HVAC needs. read more
