This was an awesome experience from start to finish, I can't say enough (and I'm sure that sounds like I either work there or was paid to write it, but I promise neither is true). I got bids from a total of 3 companies, and it was hard to sort through - I just don't know that much about AC so it's hard to tell when you're being sold a bill of goods. I went with my gut based on the good experience I was having with Abe and we couldn't be happier. From Abe's management of the process, to the folks in the office who helped whenever I called, to the install team that came and did the work - everyone was incredibly friendly and professional, and even followed up after the work to make sure it had all gone well. These guys installed our mini split system 3 years ago but the repairmen who recently came out to diagnose the problem with our system not only was unfamiliar with it but claimed he could not find the problem which continued after he left. I called another company for repair (NextGen Heating & Air, Inc) who were clearly knowledgable and efficient: found a leak immediately and unfortunately needed to refill the freon type product which Air Max's repairman said was fine. Some of the Air Max repair people may be competent but I am not using them anymore. read more

I called Air Max during a heat wave and asked them to come out and get my unit working again. It was very clear from the moment the tech walked in that he had very little or no experience at all. After a 30 min inspection the unit was diagnosed to be old and not repairable. I was also told that i had missing Refrigerant and that would be replenished. The tech left with zero results. I called another company and with in 45 min. the unit was up and running with no issues at all. Turns out the unit just needed to be cleaned as the evaporative coil was 100% clogged. The new company added more refrigerant as the Air Max tech left the plug off and or never filled it at all. This technician was very inexperienced and the company charged me for absolutely nothing done. Worst experience since these guys treated me like a house wife that knows nothing. read more

My husband and i went through Lowes whom is contracted with this company, first big mistake! We should have gotten more quotes! This company came out didn't give us a proper estimate! Our loan approved for what we supposedly needed they were quick on getting signatures on for contract! When u email them they don't respond if u call maybe get the run around. when the crew came out to install we had a big problem with our attic and ducking system, they offer to help but at our cost and their crew tried to get me to pay them $$$$ on the side cash to fix the problem! Communication was horrible the lead was telling one thing to their managers and told me another it was a constant bickering with the crew within them selfs, tried calling lowes and going in person lowes, told me they couldn't do anything besides the loan and supplies!!!! I was sold a car with out wheels! They blame us supposedly, why would we buy a system and not a whole new install of everything???? if we knew i had these problems i would have waited to fix the problem and at a high cost wouldn't have done this project! read more

I got a bid from them thru Lowes. They were high pressure and wanted me to decide on the spot. WHen I chose to go with a different company they failed to inform Lowes of the cancelled contract, so I was charged. I would not use this companies services. read more

It was a complicated job with some unexpected difficulties. The crew came back every day and worked through every issue. They did a great job getting everything done. Getting a quote for an HVAC system for 24k was a first. Let me add that this is for a 894 sq ft home. Lol. I got few quotes ranging from 10,000- 14,000 from reputable companies prior to meeting with a Air Max tech. Things took a turn when I asked for a breakdown on cost for parts and labor. Long story short, employee was rude, immature and sarcastic, needless to say they lost a cash paying customer. When I told them I had a quote for 12,400 they magically dropped their price to 16k. Lying much? For some odd reason the tech was so insistent on calling Home Depot to see if they have a "promotion", when we finally got some clown on the phone, he acted like his dad owned the company and when I brought up the quote, they reduced their quote by 8k yet told me the quote I was given had to be a lie and continued to sell me a lie (the tech was aware of this process hence the insistence to call) They perceived things as they are. drastically hiked up the prices for a huge profit. Then they mock you when you reveal you will be sharing the quote with companies to see why it's the price it's at. If you're not lying Air Tech, then why are you opposed customers getting a second opinion? Do not trust this company, unless you want to be lied to and disrespected in your own home. Ok! This company has the most fantastic crew who installed our new all electric AC /heating unit on seriously one of the hottest day of the year ever!!! The workers did not complain about the heat (I complained for them!!!) and their professionalism and kindness and skill set was truly award winning! My only negative (s) is that their management didn't provide them with waters nor a drink cooler of any kind which should have been a given in our eyes. They couldn't hydrate enough!!!! It was close to 100 degrees on our roof where they worked from 8:30-6pm!!!! I'm grateful I could provide them bags AND bags of ice, water, iced teas, throughout the day as well as snacks and lunch! And a bathroom for them! These guys worked very hard in these climate changing elements. It would have warmed my heart if I could see they were being taken care of by their management in terms of keeping them hydrated!!!! They did have a tent put up on our roof thankfully. The workers did an incredible job installing AND explaining how to use our new AC as well!!! Seriously really kind knowledgeable technicians. Today another very kind professional worker came by to add more tar to our roof to secure our AC unit! However we were told they'd be coming on Friday and the guy showed up a day early so yes I had to leave from where I was and race back home to let him in behind our house. The communication could be improved so us customers know when to be around!!!! Other then those comments this company does amazing work and hires fantastic people. I want to commend Air Max, Jasmine, and especially Rolando for excellent service. I called them at 11 am. Rolando came one hour early to the appointment at 2 pm. Rolando is very competent, knowledgeable, honest, and professional. He troubleshot a Rheem package unit that supplied no heat. He thoroughly troubleshot the issue by himself. Then asked the advice from a team member which I truly respect in this company. The service fee was $84 which is the going rate for the initial service call. Installation was quick, efficient, and expertly done. The construction crew were professional, and the whole team was always there to answer any questions in person, and on the phone. Recently hired them to service two A/C units at my home. The first serviceman did a terrible job (forgot to replace one filter, installed another one backwards and was messy). I called their office to register a complaint. They said that particular fellow had been fired and they would send out another serviceman, for no charge, to re-check systems. Contacted Air Max after I realized my AC unit was still under warranty from Lennox. A live person answers the phone, within 3 days a repair man was at my home. We had already had two other HVAC companies give us a diagnosis. Air Max said it needed a capacitor. One week later they came and installed part and changed the booster. They also said the unit was wired incorrectly, wondering if someone did this intentionally. Total expense $239. The other two companies said the compressor needed to be changed, completely incorrect diagnosis and cost. Air Max is a Lennox dealer and only works on Lennox units. Our technician Jose Marin was terrific. I highly recommend this company and the integrity of our technician Jose. Their customer service is top notch as well. There seems to be little integrity in these service companies but not the case with Air Max read more

Had no idea that the LADWP offered a free HVAC tune up program. When I contacted Air Max they were incredibly friendly and communicative. They called to confirm and showed up on time, including giving us a call to convey a fifteen minute warning of arrival. They ran the rest thoroughly and did all the paper work for the LADWP program for us! I'm so glad that I now have Air Max stored in my phone in case our AC needs emergency care. I agree with many of the concerns shared by people that gave this company 1 star. They want to quickly sign a contract. Do not trust these people, they are out to make a quick buck and don't care about the quality of the work nor the permit portion. They have terrible costumer service as well. Air Max came and determined a new motor was needed. Said the part was under warranty but that labor would cost $650. Also said the repair could be done the next morning and someone would call to verify the appointment. Of course no one called and when I called them, they said they were waiting the part to arrive and I would have to wait another day. Okay, next day came and no one showed. When I called, they said there was traffic on the freeway and would have to reschedule the next day. Next day came and after the 2 hour window came and went I called the office and they said he was on his way. Guy finally showed over an hour and a half late. No apology for being late and billed me $650 for 45 minutes of work. Will never use them again. read more

I live in an older condominium and we have a very complicated HVAC situation. No heat at all, and very inefficient a/c. I contacted a couple of HVAC professionals for quotes and Abe of Air Max HVAC was by far the best! The others came, took a quick look, then came up with what seemed like different spitballed solutions. They were here for maybe 15 mins. and left without giving me written quotes, even though I asked for them. Abe took a great deal of time (I think he was here for almost an hour) and was extremely thorough in looking at all aspects of the situation in order to find the best solution.
