I came into work this morning to find our office was at 80° due to a broken air conditioner. I called another company before calling Air Mechanical and the other company I called answered the phone with a "YUP?" and then a pause. I want nothing to do with a business that can't even answer the phone in a professional manner so I decided to look elsewhere. After doing a little research online, I decided to give Air Mechanical a try. The person that took my call was courteous (unlike the first place I called) & assured me getting service same day wouldn't be a problem. Within a few hours I was given a call letting me know someone was on the way. The technician Albert arrived in uniform with a fully stocked and marked service truck ready to fix the problem. After Albert introduced himself, I gave him a run down of the problem we were having. As luck would have it from the time I placed my service call to Air Mechanical to the time he arrived the air conditioner of course was working just fine by the time he arrived on site. There is nothing worse than having a serious problem with something that is an intermediate problem as this can make it very hard for the technician to diagnose if the problem isn't actually occurring. None the less I gave him a run down of what was going on with the air conditioner. I was a little worried he wouldn't be able to find the problem since it was working when he arrived. It's easy to just give up & say I don't see any problems. Albert took the time to actually take the unit apart to get to the bottom of what was going on which turned out to be a bad capacitor that was causing the unit not to blow any air. Not only did he figure out the problem while the unit was still working, but he had the part that he needed to fix it on his truck to get the unit back in business. He explained my repair options and recommendations along with showing me a picture of the bad part. He could have very easily said everything was working fine, charged a service call and been on his way but instead he took the time to get to the bottom of the issue and fix everything in one visit. I am someone that has a lot of experience dealing in a time sensitive field service industry and I was very impressed with my experience from start to finish. When the value of a service exceeds the price, price no longer becomes an issue & the price is justified by the kind of service you receive. This stands true for any service company. I will absolutely use them again as it's hard to find good service companies anymore. If you value your time and want to just "get it done" without worries, give Air Mechanical a try. read more

I've been using Air Mechanical for 31 years, they installed all the original equipment in my townhome. I've had them do maintenance every year, no issues, but they do try to upsell things I don't want, no pressure, but always. Still, techs are knowledgeable, friendly and maintain my systems well. I've replaced furnace, HVAC and water heater over the years, all with no issues at all. Their maintenance plan is a bit pricey but worth having for peace of mind. read more

Sorry I chose Air Mechanical for my $42,000 investment. Brad Hendrickson advised me by phone while I was out of state. We put together a package for the home of new furnace, heat pump, humidifier, dehumidifier, Combi-boiler, and air purification and circulation, total over $42,000. Everything was supposed to be ready when we arrived. Nothing was working when we arrived on Friday at 10:30pm. No hot water, no heating or cooling, no fresh air circulating--though I explicitly advised Brad that my husband is recovering from COVID and is on oxygen continuously, requiring ionizing, clean air in the home for his health, if not survival. On Saturday, a new team came and temporarily adjusted the boiler setting so we could have some hot water in some places, though it takes about 3 minutes to arrive. They also advised that the heating and cooling system now works. On Monday, the boiler expert arrived and while he couldn't find anything wrong with his installation at first, and deferred to thinking the plumbing was at fault. Upon my insistence, we looked at the boiler again and saw that some of the pipes remain cold. New parts have been ordered, TBD on installation. This still does not explain why only tepid water can be achieved in the shower. For now, the plumbing is being blamed... Further, barely any air comes out of the air vents. This trickle of occasional air is not hot or cold, regardless of the setting on the thermostat. There is a "System Fault" warning on the main thermostat, which I am told to ignore as if it is nothing. Finally, an old unit that was outside and should have been replaced is still there, and perhaps relates to this "fault". I believe that Air Mechanical with its years of experience can offer excellent service. At this point, I have asked that someone in authority step in to help us, so we can become long-term satisfied customers. read more

We've had our share of HVAC issues (usually when I'm very pregnant and during a heat wave ) and Air Mechanical always delivers. The only challenge is getting someone out right away -- no surprise with staffing issues these days though. We always ask to be put on Mike's schedule because he knows our system the best and he's such a nice guy! When he arrives, he either puts booties on over his shoes or takes his shoes off. He assesses the problem and explains his findings in an easy to understand way while also being respectful. He takes great notes that they store in their system so if anything pops up, someone else can fill in and still knows the history. Do not recommend, took 5 different technicians/5 trips over the course of a month to solve a simple service issue on our furnace and was charged close to $800 for installation of warranty parts that were unneeded as the same issue kept occurring, and the root cause in the end was determined to be a simple maintenance issue for a plugged hose. The first Tech told me we needed a new control board as power was not passing properly and they did not have parts, he would be out the next morning so they only charged me the $130 trip charge with the total solutions membership I had signed up for over the phone. The next morning a different technician came and replaced the control board and the furnace was still having power issues, he reported he found an issue with the pressure switch and replaced that as well. All parts were under warranty so I was only charged labor and a return trip charge for a total of $651. The furnace ran for 4 days and quit, Tech 3 came out and reported that the there was a power issue and that the pressure switch was hooked up incorrectly between the positive and negative terminals by Tech 2 and he was surprised it was working the few days it did, no charge as it was an error on their end. Our furnace worked for three weeks and then quit again, had Air Mechanical out again and Tech 4 reported there was a power issue, his solution was to disconnect the new pressure switch, and rehook the system to old pressure switch (I would think the proper way to replace a part would be to remove the old, and add the new, not leave the old part in there somewhere so I was surprised to hear it was still there) the furnace started and we were not charged for this trip. Furnace went out again the next day, called AM again and they could hear my frustration and said this time they would send an experienced technician, my thought was shouldn't they all be experienced?! The final technician (Tech 5) found a clogged port hose to the pressure switch, cleared the debris and restarted the furnace and had no issues since. We had this same issue a year prior and another company was able to detect it and clean it right away. I called air mechanical to ask for a partial refund as I had paid labor to install parts I did not need. They argued that I did not pay for the parts only labor, like they were giving us a deal. They did not understand that I was paying labor for installation of parts that were not needed. I explained beyond the money I spent for the unneeded parts, this caused me to miss work 5 days waiting for a repair person to come out, when it should have been resolved the first day for a trip and labor charge of $215 based on the bill for trip 5. The person I spoke to said they would speak to their manager and get back to me, I never heard back. I called back a week later to cancel my total solutions membership as I planned on never using them again, and they wanted to charge me additional money for the "money I saved" while having the membership for the brief period I had it, as I had to argue again that I did not save any money, and had but paid for installation of parts I did not need, I had to miss work five days when it should have been 1, in the end they agreed to not charge me any additional fees, but also did not refund any money. read more

We had Air Mechanical out for a slow bath sink drain. I was quoted a charge of $113, but if the machine is used it's $323.00. I watched as he worked and took out the drill powered auger claiming the clog was in the drain line. after reassembly the drain was just as slow. He removed the sink drain stopper and pushed out a large clog. After reassembly the sink drained quickly. I appreciate the fast, courteous same day service but wonder about the $200 up charge for an extra 5 minutes of work with the machine. read more

I got charged $1,100.00 to replace a water valve. It was on a Saturday. $206.00 just to show up. Ok fine. $818.00 an hour I was told once they got there. It took 10 minutes to replace. It was an emergency, so I had to have them install it. Either that or pay the $206.00 and find another plumber. I would not ever recommend them to anyone. Then when I called the office on Monday thinking this can't be right. They were smug and unapologetic. read more

It's pretty rare that I give a one star review. We just moved into a new house with an older thermostat. We wanted to replace it with our Nest thermostat, which we've had and used in many homes. My husband was unable to install because we needed to do some re-wiring. Per Nest website, this company is a recommended installer. I called them up and spoke with Michelle. I told her what I needed and also, we would like to do a HVAC maintenance plan. She proceeded to go through the plans, also going into great detail about an electrical plan and a plumbing plan (neither of which I was interested in). It was a pretty long pitch. She said she'd email me all of the details so I can choose my plan. Back to the Nest install...I explained we only had 4 wires and needed 5. I even pulled the current thermostat off the wall and we discussed what I saw. She said it was a $110 service fee plus $79 install fee. I agreed and we scheduled the appointment for today (7/5/19) between 12-5. At 7:45 am, I get a call that Brian is on his way. Huh? I am 100% positive my appointment was 12-5, because I have small children and avoid early appointments as much as possible. So not a good start. Brian shows up, introduces himself and immediately tells me one of our outside lights was broken and he could fix it while he was here. Then he went into a pitch about all of the things he can fix and install; redoing our recessed lighting etc. I just want my Nest installed. So he went down to the basement to checkout the furnace and electrical panel. He explains we need to add a wire. He tells us we can buy one ourselves to save money. He does have one in his truck though. But for some reason, he was unable to install the Nest today. I tell him I'm confused because that was the reason for the appointment: install the Nest. He goes back to the fact we need another wire. I explain that I know that, I told Michelle that when I called to make the appointment. Brian stated no, this was an appointment for the estimate. What?! Oh, and that will be $110. Plus another service fee for when he comes back to do the actual install. He should have been aware of what was needed for the install, as I explained when I first called. He had the wires in his truck. But he can't install. What a scam. We argue out the $110. I agreed Michelle told me about it, but I thought the service fee covered a provided service, not an estimate. I've never paid someone to give me an estimate. He continued his sales pitch as he was walking out. Yeah, I will not be calling them again. They're more interested in how much money they can scam you out of, than providing the customer with honest, reliable service. read more

Air Mechanical came to my house on 05/29/24 to see why my AC was not turning on. When the technician arrived I asked if there was an hourly rate. He said no. The technician was at my house for 1.75 hours. When finished I was presented with a bill for $793.00. I asked why the bill was so high. I was told a part called a contactor had to be replaced and the cost was $376.00. After the technician left I found multiple online stores selling the exact part for $20.00. In addition I called an AC parts wholesaler and they told the part was $20. When I called Air Mechanical management the assistant manger asked if the technician quoted me the price before installing. I said no and they said this was their mistake and they would take care of me. When my complaint reached the Service Managers desk all he offered was a $150 rebate. I have a copy of my invoice and copies of the $20 bids. I understand AC repair companies are going to mark up the cost of the parts but $376.00 for a $20 part seems outrageous. read more

Buyer beware, if you sign up with their Maintanance Program with a credit card.When you cancel before the annual renewal date they will charge your credit card for the entire year even though you have been on the program a few months.This is not spelled out at all in the Terms and Conditions posted on their website or disclosed verbally when they do their sales pitch. We purchased four Nest IQ outdoor cameras for the exterior of our house. On the Nest website it listed their Pro Installers and one of them was Air Mechanical. I did some research on the company and looked at their reviews. All seemed well so I called and Kyle answered the phone. I told him I wanted to schedule an install for four exterior Nest IQ cameras. He mentioned that an appointment was going to be a ways out but that was OK with me. I specifically mentioned that the back of our house will require a two story ladder. He said that he would make sure he noted that and that the installer would have one when they came to do the job. An appointment was scheduled for August 6 between Noon and 5:00pm. I did not receive a confirmation call and today when I hadn't heard anything by 1:00 I called. The lady that answered the phone said I was not on the schedule but that they could get someone out to do our job anyway. About a half hour later I received a call from Brian, their master electrician, he wanted to know more about the job and asked when I was put on the schedule as I wasn't there this morning. I told him the story and he said he'd come over and do our job. I mentioned that the back of our house is two stories and will require a sufficient ladder. It was at this point that he told me it's going to be a two man job and doesn't think today will work but he'll check and either he or the office will get back to me. Well, he called me back and said August 16 between 10:00 and 4:00 is now the soonest they could do our job. I asked him for a rough estimate of what our job will cost and he started rambling about their "service plans" and how if I spent $159 for the electrical service plan it would save me this and that. I listened for like three minutes straight and couldn't get a word in edgewise. When he finally let me get a word in I asked a few questions and we hung up the phone. Called the office and let them know we will not be rescheduling. Not one person I talked with offered an apology for their error or my inconvenience. Never. Ever. Ever. Will we think about using this company again. I don't care who recommends them! read more

It's very rare that I write a review for any services, but this one made me very upset. we had a broken sink and when we called air mechanical they said it's going to be $99. when the service guy came from air mechanical, at the very first look he says it is going to cost $400 or $700. We clearly know its a clogged pipe and just needed manual intervention and it wouldn't be so expensive. he literally got to the clog in 5mins after he walked in... despite us asking why would it be $400 to just clear up the clog he was rude and charged $270. I just don't understand how is it even reasonable to charge the customer so much When it clearly was not worth it. read more

I needed a new A/C unit outside my house. I took a picture of the factory sticker on the unit that contained the model and size information needed to get a comparable estimate. I only live a few miles away, so I thought I'd stop by to request a quote. I spoke with the receptionist upon entry and she called a sales person and gave me the phone. After explaining my situation she said they'd have to schedule someone to come out. I explained that I have everything needed to provide a quote with me. She repeated that they would have to send someone out. This didn't make sense to me as I was trying to be efficient. I agreed to have an in house estimate. She then asked if morning or afternoon worked best. I said anytime after three works best. She went on to tell me that I would need to provide an available window from 12-5. I explained that I didn't want to take time off from work for this estimate and that anytime after three would work. We then agreed that one of my kids or wife could be there. She then told me to that the estimate would be $100 so make sure to leave them with funds to pay the man! This was all over the phone in be lobby of this business. He also explained my new thermostat to me so I understood how to work it, along with the app that I could use. One thing that surprise me was that the company sent me information on Dalton, including his picture, so I knew it was him when he came to my door. That was really nice. What a waste. Tech came out to inspect an abundance of water pooling around the furnace when the A/C was running. He came in, looked, said well it could be this, or this, or that, but you just really need to buy a new system. Didn't test anything. Didn't inspect anything. Hardly touched anything before collecting his "service" fee and left. Had he actually done any work, he would have found that our furnace isn't working and I've had to get in touch with another company to actually fix it. I 'won' a free humidifier. Air Mechanical installed it in the furnace system and I was set up. Shortly after, a transformer failed in the furnace. They came back and installed a new transformer at a cost of nearly $400. A couple days later, that transformer blew the internal fuse. Air Mechanical returned and installed a new transformer. I made sure the humidifier was never turned on until I got in a new furnace, it was worked great ever since. And no, Air Mechanical did not install the new furnace and will never be back in my house. read more

Just made an appointment to get my brand new equipment installed correctly with a different company because Air Mechanical cant be bothered to come out and fix their own mistake even though they have a contract with me to do so plus I have already paid them in full... SO FRUSTRATED! We have been told to F-off by Chris Friend, we have equipment installed wrong 3 times and its still not fixed, we have had appointments where no one ever came out or even called to let us know they canceled on us and we had takin the day off work for them, they put us into collections before they even did the work or even showed up and we had a written contract with them, we had Co gas being vented into our home and they didn't care , it took a week for someone to come out to fix that and then they tried to charge us for that service call even tho the problem was created by Chris Friend himself installing it wrong. The list goes on and on, we have been dealing with this nightmare with Air Mechanical for about 2 years now on a brand new build with all new equipment. we are getting a real professional to come out and fix the problem now and still have not gotten a refund for services not preformed or a phone call back from anyone at Air Mechanical, we will be taking legal action and filling complaints with the BBB and any channels we can find to recoup our loss. Update : I got a call from Tim today to discuss my problems with the heating system and incorrect installation of my air filter, we didn't come to an agreement at all and I was told my equipment was damaged in my home fire by heat and water, funny my home never had a fire anywhere near the boiler and no water ever got into my basement, then he proceeded to tell me that my claim of no damage to my system from the fire was a speculation, I was home during the fire and I removed my boiler from my home the next day, he has never seen my equipment and I have photos and a insurance report proving nothing ever damaged my boiler, Tim however didn't address the fact that they have equipment installed backwards and did a no call no show on a scheduled appointment I took the day off work for. This company really sucks, I will be posting updates to my problem on this site daily until I have a solution. I have a written contract, I have paid in full for them to fix this issue and their are refusing to complete the work, I have filed a complaint with the BBB and retained a lawyer but am willing to just receive A REFUND FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED TOO. read more

I guess when it's winter and you have no heat they can charge whatever they want. No indication of final price was given prior to service. I have used them for several years to tune up my AC and furnace and have had no issues. I asked the man once when he was here for a tune up what it would cost to replace my bathroom exhaust fan - he gave me a range of $250 - $500. That inspired me to watch an online video and do the job myself for the cost of under $40 for the fan. Another time I had them come out to repair the furnace on the weekend. I paid them well for this after hours call. I was told would also need a new thermocoupler for an additional $500. The man then said he found out he didn't have that part with him. Lucky for me, because the furnace has worked quite well for 2 years since then without this pricey replacement. I get the feel they are gouging me with their pricing, and will look to another HVAC contractor for my future needs. read more

I had my annual AC tuneup, service was great, as usual. I also had a plumbing tuneup and needed a repair to a malfunctioning toilet. I'd replaced my toilets, myself, a couple years ago, didn't do a very good job of it as neither ever worked really well. One was not working at all really. Ray explained that the internal mechanisms on both were not high quality and what I needed to fix them both (and lower my association's water bill!). He ordered the parts, had them couriered to my home, and completed both repairs in under an hour. Both are working beautifully now. Couldn't be more pleased with level, and quality, of service this company provides. read more

I have posted reviews about this company in the past and they always seem to disappear after a few weeks. This company put a full Air Conditioning and Furnace system in my parents house in 1997. From the get go the entire system did not work correctly. The furnace was not ventilated properly and kept shutting down . The A/C system burned out several times. When my parents called to have them fix the issues they did come out several times but could not rectify the problems. Eventually Air Mechanical would not return phone calls and my parents ended up having to take them to court. If you are shopping around for a new furnace of Air Conditioning do not hire these clowns. The owners of this company are just concerned about getting your money into their bank account and then if you have problems after that good luck....they don't care! read more

8/29/2015 I had service done to my laundry on 7/31/2015 by Ken. He seems to be a good person and had some knowledgeable. The service done was an install of a stand pipe to the discharge from my washer to the sewage pipe. The reason why I'm updating this review from a five star to two is because I received a wrong diagnostic. I was told by Ken that my laundry room had a strong sewage odor because of the straight pipe, therefore I needed a U-trap pipe. In addition, he recommended to get a new water softener, replace the hoses connecting to the back of the washer, the sink installation was poor and needed replacement, and everything in my toilet tank was installed incorrectly and need to be redone. It's a good thing I didn't do any additional recommendations because it turned out that after installing the stand pipe there were still smell. The smell came from the washer and not the sewer. There were probably some mold in the washer that needed to be clean and the filter probably needed to be replaced is what Ken told me after the installation. So I wouldn't recommend or refer anyone to Air Mechanical due to wrong and mislead diagnostics to benefit AM financially. Also, this service took more than three attempts to schedule a technician. The diagnostic took place in April 2015. I called AM on 5/23/2015 and I was told that it was Memorial Day weekend and a technician isn't available. They will have a technician call me after the holiday. Four weeks went by and I did not get a call back. I emailed AM to schedule electronically in June but there was no call back as well. I finally called AM again in mid July and finally got the service on 7/31/2015. Very disappointed at their customer service. read more

Called these folks to get a quote for repairing a hail damaged AC Condenser for my house. Was told I had to pay $99 for a technician to come out and perform diagnostics before a home comfort representative could give a quote. Not sure why diagnostics was needed as the hail damage is very obious. Anyway I agreed to the charge and was given a 5hr time window, between noon and 5pm with a 30 min call before arrival. Being extremely busy at work with meetings etc. I could not drop everything and run when the 30 min pre call came in at 11am. We agreed for the technician to arrive at my house shortly after 12, noon. I rushed home and waited until 1pm and no one showing up. Called the office and was told the technician was sent somewhere else and then the office lady asked if I wanted to reschedule??? How RUDE!! Absolutely no respect for busy working professionals. I replied, NO thank you, I will find a reliable company to go with. read more
