Our HVAC was 16 years old and one of the units was not cooling at all. Not good in the Texas summer. I immediately called the Nextdoor recommended HVAC service company. They required me to purchase the annual maintenance program or pay for the visit first. I opted for the annual plan. After over 2 hours inspecting and cleaning and testing the 2 units it was determined that one unit had a leaking coil and repairing it was a waste of money. I asked for a quote and a representative visited our house and quoted a Lennox system for what I thought was a very fair price. My wife insisted I get competitive quotes from at least 2 other HVAC companies prior to purchase. I requested quotes from Yelp suppliers; 4 in all. 3 suppliers responded quickly. I had them each visit and quote. The vendor I chose was AIRCO because their initial quote was for a Lennox system (the same exact units as the first quote) for 30% less and it included a whole house air filtration unit and programmable thermostat for both. They were extra cost from everyone else. Plus AIRCO would fill out all the rebate forms for the units and thermostats at no additional charge! All quotes were made without me revealing the other quotes or systems. They arrived on time. Installed both systems with minimal intrusion on the family (we did leave since the air would be off). The outside installation was very clean, neat, and looks better than before. They programmed both thermostats, connected them to the web, and taught us how to use and program them from the phone app. As a follow up, they called to check a couple of days later on the systems and the install. I praised them. The overhead lights in one room directly beneath one unit were not working. So, I asked if it was possible that wiring was damaged during install. The lady on the phone immediately scheduled a follow up to diagnose the problem even though I was not sure it was theirs. The technician followed up the next day. He found nothing wrong with the system or the install, but he wanted their electrician to follow up. As he was turning out the attic light he noticed a loose wire nut which wasn't theirs. He reattached the wires and wire nut. Voila!! The lights worked. He said it was an old connection and it had simply loosened. It was nowhere near the installation area. All of this was free!! Price, service, installation, features were all excellent and above expectations. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

I previously submitted a warranty repair and the company sent someone over from A-US Air Conditioning (https://www.ausairtexas.com/). They told me the issue was due to a bad thermostat wire and that I'd have to pay out of pocket for the repair. I now understand why A-US has such terrible reviews! I wanted a second opinion and ran across Airco Heating & Air Conditioning. I chatted with Wes, the manager via Yelp messaging and within 2 hours, Martin arrived at my door. He was friendly and listened to my issues before heading straight to the attic to start his diagnostics. He quickly determined that the thermostat wire was working fine and was able to manually trigger the AC - it was blowing cold air again! Martin walked me through all the steps he took to come to his final conclusion. Turns out the issue was my Ecobee thermostat not sending the right signal! The charged less than my warranty company's initial service fee. I'll report back once I replace the thermostat to confirm whether Martin's hypothesis was correct. read more

My twenty-three year old HVAC SYSTEM had to be replaced. The old unit was replaced with a matched Communicating 16-SEER, two-stage, Condenser, ECM, and Gas Furnace with a communicating WiFi capable Thermostat. Replacing this equipment is a major and costly project. It's a process and consumers MUST determine their needs, research the different brands for economy, reliability, and warranty. Once you are in a position to express your needs to companies, you can review their estimates from a perspective of "apples-to-apples"... this was my approach. I contacted companies based on Yelp Reviews as well as a few big box stores. My estimates looked a little like a scatter chart final prices were all over the proverbial graph. From this I extracted the most reasonable, thorough, and efficient options. My estimate from AIRCO stood out as the very best. The installation was completed today and I am proud of the honesty, follow-through, and service rendered toward my project. Thanks to Stuart (sales) and Mr. Leal (installations) for making this mammoth project easy. Mr. Leal and his team made sure I understood how to use the thermostat to operate the new components efficiently. I, without hesitation recommend this company to anyone contemplating a project like this. AIRCO also offers the longest installation labor warranty in the area. I had AiRCO mechanical install an air conditioning system and was very pleased with the professional service. Jon McSwain did a great job replacing a capacitor which was "invaded" by ants. I had planned to replace the unit but Jon indicated that my other units were older and thought this unit still had a couple of more good years remaining. He recommended changing out another unit which he had determined was more likely to give me trouble in the future. I decided to replace the older units and David, Enier, Juan, Francisco and Cooper showed up to do the install. What I liked is that they broke down the job into various parts and attacked it simultaneously. It only took them about three hours. They brought everything they needed and were very concerned about my floors. They were fast and polite. The price was very reasonable and they accepted credit cards. I'd use them again. read more

June 2022 (Austin, Texas) Airco saved us. Jeremy specifically. We were coming into the massive heat wave recently here in Austin and of course our AC went out. We couldn't get a hold of anyone - emergency or otherwise - every company just ignored my repeated attempts and voicemails for a service call. We lost faith. Jeremy, at 9pm at night, called me back and said he had no one to send but he'd do it himself - just as he was settling in on his couch that night. I couldn't believe. He drove about 1 hour each way that night and did his best to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, we needed a part to fix. He prioritized us the next day and secured the part. Still didn't fix it. He continued troubleshooting which proved to be a really tricky, hard issue on our system. He figured it out and on Day 3 brought the next part needed. Again, prioritized us. It was about 120* in the attic but he worked almost 3 days straight to get it done knowing we had a toddler and an elderly person in the home. It was amazing customer service and his level of knowledge and detail was excellent. My house AC Zone Control have some issues, and asked for a technician to come to do diagnostic of it. The technician very quickly found out the issue and because it is just a simple screw didn't get tightened and he did the easy fix for me without extra charge! And the AC zone control is working now! Airco saved us when a company that "starts with G, but is hard to spell" failed. Emergency late night call, was able to get the water turned off and had their guys out the next day. My AC went out over the holiday weekend, and it had just started to get warm enough here in May where I was concerned. AirCo responded to my request and had a technician out that Sunday. He diagnosed the issue quickly and replaced the busted capacitor. My air conditioner stopped cooling, so I contacted Airco for assistance. They promptly sent a technician the following day. The symptoms reported were that both the compressor and air blower were functioning, but there was no cold air coming out. Afterwards, I did some research online and discovered that the coil had frozen. When the technician arrived, he checked the freeze agent pressure and found it to be normal. Surprisingly, his recommendation was to continue running the AC on 'cool' and suggested that I order a new unit. I was skeptical of his advice to keep running the frozen AC on 'cool' as it didn't seem right. Instead, I knew that defrosting the coil was necessary. His insistence on installing a new system made me lose trust in his suggestions, and I decided not to proceed with his recommendation. read more

My AC unexpectedly stop working and I tried to troubleshoot myself but to no solution. Couple of my neighbors recommended Airco and specifically Junior and Mario so I was able to get an appointment for next day scheduled. We had a new a/c system put in last year. The crew was fantastic, friendly, professional and clean. Absolutely awesome. If all companies were like this the world would be a better place. As a side note, this year the unit would shut off every 15 min. They came and found the drain line plugged and blew it out. It worked for a couple of days and then started doing same thing again. I called at 3pm and they had a tech here in about an hour. This was June 27, 2023, 105 degrees outside. Their service is unbelievable. The drain line was the original, over 30 years old and just hard to clear, but they did. I VERY HIGHLY recommend them. They might not be the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
