We just had Airmaxx replace our aging AC system with a Mitsubishi Mini Split System. I can't say enough about these guys, everyone was absolutely fantastic, top drawer. From the moment we got in touch with their Sales Rep, Ryan, until the units were installed everyone, and I mean everyone, was on the top of their game. Ryan came by Tuesday, we signed off on the proposal, Wednesday at 2 pm everything was done, installed and cooling, the old system a distant memory, oh and did I mention they were several thousand dollars less than the other firms we contacted. I contacted Airmaxx in January 2025 for a new gas heater and to consider a heat pump. Gene Fikhman came to my residence and was very helpful in making recommendations based on my needs and the size of my residence. He was friendly and did not try to upsell me. In fact, I had to practically twist his arm to get the more powerful and expensive gas heater with the energy rebate that I wanted. I didn't write the review right away because I wanted to experience the heat pump in the summer. The heat pump is working really well, and I like the fact that I can control everything with the Ecobee App on my cell phone. I am glad to finally have cooling capacity with the heat pump, because I had used small electrical fans for many years. Airmaxx came to the rescue after dealing with an incompetent service tech from Tarpy! I was desperate when my dinosaur air conditioner stop blowing cool air. It was still hot outside. I mistakenly called Tarpy because they were able to come.out right away. I told this Tarpy AC service tech that everything was working in that my AC was turning on, making all the usual noises except it wasn't BLOWING any air. Long story short I paid a lot of money for a NEW AC from Tarpy with installation the next day. After installation they tried to turned on my NEW AC unit but then they said "your new AC won't work because your blower is not blowing! WHAT!? That's what I told the Tarpy service tech in person and over the phone! The installers left the house and I was left with an expensive AC unit that would not work!!! And a large bill! So I found Airmaxx on Yelp and called them. The owner of Airmaxx was very empathetic and told me that the blower should have been the first thing checked. (I had no idea but I know now!). They came out for a free estimate. Their service technician immediately did his diagnostic testing and told me that the controller (looks like a computer motherboard) to the blower was no longer working. He was able to jimmi the blower to show me the blower was actually working but would not without a new controller. But he also told me my blower was on the way out as it made a terrible grinding noise on start up. I thanked him as he went out to get me an estimate from his boss. Tarpy did have a warranty-tech come out (a very competent one named James) the warranty service tech gave me the exact same diagnosis as AIRMAXX (after much testing). I did not tell him I needed a new blower, but James the warranty tech from Tarpy also jimmied the blower to show me it turned on, but he also said the grinding noise was bad and that it was on its way out. I then told him that the AIRMAXX tech said the same thing. James said "he ain't wrong". James was also upset that the Tarpy service tech, from his company, overlooked something so simple as checking the BLOWER as I said it wasn't blowing! I even called Tarpy to complain and they said "Well your blower is from your heater system and it's separate from your old AC unit, and the unit we installed. That requires another estimate to fix the blower." I said, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! That should have been the first thing you looked at. THE BLOWER IS NOT BLOWING AIR!!!!!! I'm not using you (Tarpy) or paying you another dime! So AIRMAXX was correct in their own diagnosis. I got another estimate from yet another HVAC co. But they were too lazy to diagnose the problem (as a third opinion) but did give me a price estimate for repair (a new blower and controller). so I decided AIRMAXX actually did the work to get me the first correct diagnosis. AIRMAXX also gave me a better estimate to replace the blower and controller. That was also with the parts under warranty! They came out after the weekend and replaced those parts and now my New AC works!! Thank you AIRMAXX. You helped me, and saved me so much time and headache! Our home was approaching 40 years old and the HVAC system was showing its age. Also, the weather had changed and we needed air conditioning, even though we lived at the beach. I contacted several air-conditioning contractors as they provided tired worn out ideas of installing a split system only in the bedroom area. That wasn't acceptable for me. The first review on Airmaxx was not going to go well. But they sent Gilbert this time and when they send the man you know you are in good hands. Damn, this guy is amazing. He rolls in the spot with his tools that take actual measurements and he blew me away. As an engineer it was amazing to talk facts. He instantly knew that my coil was almost freezing over because of data from his device that he shared with me. "Hey you see how this coil is reading 32 degrees that's about freezing it should not be this cold." He was right, I was having a flow issue. He also took measurements at the registers and he could see that the degrees coming out of the vents/registers were not jibing with what was going back into the system. Major flow issue. It turns out my filter was completely dirty, weird because I just replaced it in June. But he said summer is more demanding and we have to replace it more often. It was really dirty, totally my fault. He also noticed our water was draining poorly. He showed us how dirty the pipe was and cleared it out and told us how to do so in the future. After that maintenance and him relaying some facts he took new measurements and my coil was running around 50 degrees which is much warmer and safer for my system. I chose Airmaxx based on positive reviews here but I did not have the same experience. The estimator arrived for our appointment, I shared the project goals and he immediately told me it was impossible. I understand if a project is difficult or cost-prohibitive but very few things are actually impossible. I stayed quiet and let him sit on his statement for a moment and when he knew I wasn't giving up, suddenly options started becoming possible. We had a plan and I still wasn't thrilled with him but the price was right and I wanted to trust the reviews here. For those of you who have done a remodel and project managed, you know it's a delicate orchestration of sub-contractors. Everyone's job relies on everyone else doing theirs well and on time. So project day arrives and the Airmaxx techs arrive to start. They have no clue about the project, what we discussed or how to do it. They suggest tearing out even more drywall "just to see options" which was ridiculous. They were completely clueless and unprepared for their part of the project. So they left after doing nothing but looking confused. That resulted in the electrician, drywall team and window replacement company being rescheduled. A total pain. I called Airmaxx and they wouldn't help me and only referred me to the estimator. It made me feel like they use their own subcontractors and his job wasn't their problem. I called person that did our estimate and told him what happened and he could not care less. When I tried to reschedule asap (now I don't even know why I tried), he offered an appt two weeks later! I have a Lennox HVAC system that is 10 years old. I have not been pleased with my prior service company, and acting on a recommendation from a friend, I started to research AirMaxx, only to discover the excellent Yelp ratings, and AirMaxx website. I submitted a service request on the AirMaxx website, and received a call back within 5 minutes. I had explained my situation in the online submittal, and Jordan, who called me said that she can have an experienced senior technician at my house within 2 hours of my submittal. The call would be free of charge to diagnose the issue. Edgar arrived on time, and within 10 minutes, I had a very good feeling that I was finally dealing with somebody that was very knowledgeable with air conditioners, and within 20 minutes, he had identified the leak. And would you believe that it was the valve piston that was leaking, very similar to a valve stem on a bicycle tube. This is the place that technicians doing their maintenance connect their gauges to the system to measure the refrigerant pressure. He found the leak using a leak detector tool, and confirmed the leak by spraying soapy water on the valve opening, and we watched it slowly bubble. Edgar replaced the valve piston and then recharged the refrigerant and tested the cooling of the AC, and then rechecked to be sure that there was no longer any leak. In under 1.5 hours, Edgar from AirMaxx listened to my situation, found and corrected the leak, and recharged the refrigerant, all at a reasonable price. Edgar told me that our Lennox HVAC system was good quality, and that it was in the middle of its useful life. In 10 years, I have never had a qualified AC technician like Edgar, and I am definitely an AirMaxx customer going forward. read more
