    Totoaba de la granja

Ambiance/service: The pictures on their website were much better laid out than the actual interior, but it was clean. The mesera was nice, but forgot about us for a while. My husband's drink was empty for a good half hour at least and we had to literally wave her down to get the check after she disappeared for a while. There were only four tables there including us, so I was expecting...more. Drinks:They don't have a drink/mixology menu even though they have a full bar which was disappointing and probably losing them money. Appetizers: Started with the coconut calamari which was overcooked, so they were more like little tires. Sent those back. Had the asian style ribs appetizer. The cast iron they served them in stayed so hot that it charred/burnt the two that were on the bottom and the salsa it came with (we got it on the side) tasted like they had severely overcharred the chiles before they mixed them in. I used the plum sauce from the calamari and it paired MUCH better with the ribs. Also got the tiraditos de atun. It didn't have much flavor. Definitely missing a creamy sauce (spicy aioli/sriracha mayo) I ended up drizzling their creamy wasabi sauce on top and it gave it a bit more dimension. Main: Totoaba en la granja- The fish was well cooked and the side vegetables were seasoned really well. The risotto was the correct texture, maybe a touch too much pesto/cheese that made it very rich without a citrus element to break it up, but overall a good dish. Dessert: Got the budding de pan which was served in the same style of cast iron as the ribs which was heated enough to start burning the caramel sauce and turned it bitter very quickly. The actual bread pudding was a plate of mush. Severly undercooked with no texture past the mush. The ice cream on top of it was delicious though. Also got the molleux de chocolate. Be prepared that it is very dark chocolate, so not very sweet if you like a sweet or semi sweet dessert. It had the melty center, so it was well executed, just not the flavor profile I had expected. While the fish was decent, I wouldn't come back with the overall experience.

One of the best restaurants in Rosarito! Alexis, our server, is the best! Highly recommend the Tortilla soup, Lupita salad, shrimp tacos, calamari and Moelleux chocolate lava cake. One of the best desserts I have ever had! Gourmet! Highly recommend!!

Well came here tonight due to other good reviews but unfortunately the food wasn't what I expected, first of all the decor was very nice very modern. The calamari was very nice and crispy it was pretty good. the fish of the day was very very good very delicious it was nice and moist. The tortilla soup was very hot very good with crispy tortilla strips with fresh avocado and sour cream. Now here comes the bad part my tacos, I ordered a steak taco and a shrimp taco the steak taco it was like I was eating a piece of carbon from the barbecue it was completely black like it was not good at all, the shrimp taco was very salty, the tortillas were really good but I had to ask for the veggies on the side and they didn't bring anything so I had to literally ask for everything and it just took a long time I ended up sending back the steak taco because it was not edible and they did replace it which I was very thankful, but you know after waiting quite a bit just to get some sour cream and veggies for my tacos and they didn't even bring the salsa it wasn't what I expected for such a modern restaurant.

Finally dropped into to try this restaurant and was. It disappointed. The menus says a mixture of French and Mexican food. This would be a first for me so I entered with anticipation. The decor was spacious and chairs and table comfortable and roomy. Service was excellent and I was pleased that despite the cold they had installed heaters which kept us toasty. The food was excellent, I actually had two appetizers , the Shrimp Tamale and the Onion Soup, both were high quality and obviously home made . I just had the shrimp and lamb taco next where as my wife has the grilled fish. All dishes were well presented and the food fresh and tasty I did not have enough room to sample the bread and butter pudding but next time I think I will start with that. Overall an easy 5 stars. The food is not cheap but I have no problem paying for good food.

Nice modern setting and good food too. I enjoy the steak tacos. The tortilla soup is delicious. It's a good local option if you're in the Rosarito beach South area near Bada Bing lol.

Ajenjo is by far one of my top 3 restaurants in the area. I have reviewed under Latitude as well- the taco shop. Both are excellent. We have been too many times to count. A meal here is a must while I'm in Baja. Lately the duck confit tacos and the quinoa salad are my favorites. It depends on my mood though because the tortilla soup and skirt steak tacos are also divine. The filet and rib eye are always great. The salmon with fennel cream sauce is also delicious. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. If you want excellent food in a beautiful restaurant, this is your place.

Cream of Abalone . You can't leave without trying it.

Great classy restaurant. Very intimate. The food was delicious. Everything was so flavorful except the pesto pasta. If you are in Rosarito this is a must try. The atmosphere of this place is great for a date. The staff that attentive. I will be dining here every time I visit Rosarito.

Very good and flavorful dishes. My wife had the encrusted fish and I had a couple of duck tacos and the amazing tortilla soup. Definitely have to try that one. This is an unusual restaurant for this area-tends to be more elegant and refined-but casual wear is fine.

I absolutely love this place. I have a vacation home down the street so I'm here often. Top notch service and great food. Try the octopus, steak, grilled shrimp tacos. They serve them up with 4 different type of salsas. On friday nights they have live entertainment. Happy hour daily from 4-6pm too. Antonio makes some killer drinks. Try his sangria, it's delish. Roberto the owner is super cool and is always around chit chatting with the customers. It's really pretty inside... when you walk in it looks like a place that can be in Laguna Beach or Newport. Totally higher end. Sometimes you can run into the cast of Fear the Walking Dead there too (which is filmed in Rosarito). Thank you to Hugo, Antonio, Fernando and Angel for always giving us good service when we're there. Catch me at the bar!

My husband ordered the coconut coffee and he said it was strong. My son really wanted to order off the lunch menu, but they only serve breakfast until 11am. Red sauce is mild. They also could have been served hot, because they arrived at the table a little on the lukewarm side. My hubby and I both ordered the tortilla españuela - they warned us that it would take about 25 minutes to make. Glad we waited because it was delicious. It's almost like a breakfast casserole that has eggs, potatoes, onions, cheese, and chorizo. Oh, and they garnished it was some spinach and cherry tomatoes. Let me not forget my husbands Cinnabon. It's served straight out of the oven. Light, fluffy & not too sweet. We would order it again. The restaurant is cute and trendy, clean and friendly staff. Our total bill for 4 people was a little over $70 us dollars, which I thought was kind of steep. But .. we all ate well and had fancy drinks. If you're in the area, try this spot.

I'm surprised this is considered one of the heftier parts of the meal as it felt like a portion very similar to the homard. The little pearl onions were delicious. Overall, very pricey. I don't do fine dining often and this might be why. I would recommend reservations for a table if possible, because maybe I would've felt like it was more of a fine dining experience. That said, watching the chefs work in the open kitchen was fascinating. I think a table inside with the multi course menu would be the perfect experience here. One in particular loved to ask for head scratches by resting his head on your leg waiting for you to pet him. We got there right when they opened so service was a bit slow but that's understandable because they were still preparing for the rest of the day. Presentation was on point and made for a very fun meal. The horse mackerel rosette while not in an actual rosette was very good. Nice touch of citrus. Sea urchin flan was very umami and very filling. Gyozas were more like dumplings because they did not have any crispness to the bottom and the gyoza wrappers tasted like they were dried out in a fridge. Filling was an ox tail filling and worked wonderfully. The ramen broth however was just a bit too salty. I think if they made it into an aspic and put a bit of it with the filling it would have made for a better flavor explosion. Catch of the day was ok. The skin of the fish was kinda soggy but overall flavor was good. I think the crispness of the fish skin added with the shaving of jicama would have made it more of a standout dish. For the Pig dish, they used a suckling pig. My only complaint with the dish is they should have dried the skin out some more and made it crispier. Who isn't a fan of crispy pork skins from a suckling pig. The presentation of the desserts was the most amazing. The pumpkin is pretty much a lavender milk cereal inside and some sort of jelly and granola topped with a salted caramel ice cream. The carrot cake. This is the most delicious carrot cake I have ever eaten and the presentation itself was very fun. The carrot itself is a carrot puree that was candied and filled with a cream to look like an actual carrot.

The Cabernet sauce was excellent and offered a great depth of flavors. The dish also came with tender carrots, sweet pearl onions, and white mushrooms. All of them were perfect. The beef was rendered down beautifully and had great color and was very tender to the touch. The beef offered exceptional preparation and was an absolute pleasure to eat with the Cabernet sauce.
