Textbook Stripmall Japanese Restaurant. Not flashy, but great food. I see Asian families eat meals here.

We come here for katsudon and tempradon. These are the best in Michigan. We do not live close but we come here just for them. They are so good, we want to try other dishes but we end up ordering the same thing over and over. We are addicted. You can order in Japanese.

This restaurant was such a treat. The interior is calm and quiet, small but not cramped. Our waitress was efficient and quick, and the food was delicious - fresh, warm and comforting. The portions are very large; we had plenty of leftovers. The menu is expansive, and we will be back to try more soon!

Over the past several years, I have recommended Aji-Ten to a few friends of mine who work for local Japanese businesses, or are new students at the nearby EMU or the U of M campuses. They all agree that this restaurant has really captured the authentic and delicious flavor of being in Tokyo. Since the owner spent many years in Tokyo, he learned to how cook like a native Japanese chef, this is very evident in the food he and his staff prepares. I really love their donburi (rice bowls) a lot. You can't really go wrong when you select such Japanese soulfood (comfort) classics like Oyakodon, Gyudon, Teriyaki Chicken. Likewise, the Teriyaki sauce is amazing, and doesn't have too much garlic or spicy hot sauce added like other restaurants in the area that serve Asian Fusion food. It's just right. The décor and atmosphere of the interior gives the place a more authentic vibe, than a lot of other Asian restaurants, as the interior follows traditional Japanese minimalistic standards. Also, the soft jazz music makes you feel relaxed, and not uptight like other places with loud headbanging noise they call music. in Japanese, "Aji" means taste, and "Ten" means "over the top" or "superior." So if you want to explore first-rate Japanese cuisine that won't bankrupt you, and has the really superior taste of Japan, then you will thoroughly enjoy Aji-Ten.

As always the noodles, sushi and service was great. Oh and tonkatsu, my kids have matured and love other things in the menu but still always get tonkatsu

My neighbors recommended Aji Ten. Had dinner there yesterday with my husband. We shared 2 hot appetizers, rice bowl with chicken with eggs over the top and a large platter of vegetable rice. Food fresh and absolutely delicious. Our server, Ana, was delightful. Very relaxing atmosphere with soft music in the background. We will most definitely be returning.

We got the canton roll, yam yam & caterpillar. All great rolls. Place was full for lunch & more coming in which is always a good sign.

Another local favorite of mine! This place has exceptionally good duck ramen. The last time I went, the service was mid but the food is so worth it. It's got the comfortable-casual feel and the prices are affordable.

The tonkotsu ramen was okay, but there was a lot of meat inside the ramen. The spicy chicken was super delicious and it is basically a spicy karaage! Would recommend the spicy chicken if anyone goes. It was a smaller restaurant and service was good.

Very yummy sushi when you're looking for a quick bite to eat! When you walk in there's lots of seating and you'll be greeted by a kind and helpful host. It's very clean and well kept. The menu is large and has many options to choose from but not too big. The sushi was pretty good! The fish was fresh and tasted great. The sauces they made were tasty and not too salty. There wasn't too much sauce on any roll which was nice. The presentation was okay but that's not very important. I only gave it a 4 because the sushi rolls could be a little better and presented a little better. Overall it was a great place to eat and takes no time to sit!

This is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Canton! The food never disappoints! The entreés come with soup and salad. I tried a lot of new dishes like the squid and the battered mackerel last night and I am so glad I tried them! The chicken teriyaki is always a staple and their fried chicken was crispy and tender which paired well with the salad and rice. Not pictured but their sushi is so delicious- I always get the dynamite roll. Their ramen is also amazing- I really like the Tonkotsu ramen. Their serving sizes are perfect and this place has always had the best prices for their food. Their service is always excellent and this place has a cute Japanese restaurant ambiance. This place is a must-go for sure!

My family tried Aji Ten for carry out a bit ago and I'm happy to report it was pretty good! Based on the reviews I went with the chicken katsudon and it was quite the generous portion. It's not the most pretty looking dish but it's so good! Because it was carryout and the sauces and such the chicken wasn't as crispy as my husband's order, the chicken katsu itself, but it was still delicious and it'll be my go to next time as well. I have a hard time not ordering sushi when it's on the menu so I also got the shrimp and salmon roll and it was also a generous roll. The fish was very fresh and overall very tasty. My mom got the tempura udon and the beef teriyaki and both were also good. She only ate half of both and they both made great leftovers the next day. Overall we were really impressed. Carryout was a quick in and out and we each got a few meals from our orders so it's worth it pricewise as well.

I think the sushi in here is definitely just okayish but I really like the non sushi selections in here a lot It was my husband's first time in here. Not the best first impression. The doors were held open with chairs and on a warm day it was not very cool in the restaurant. The diet coke and lemonade option on the soda fountain were unavailable. This did not bother me as I prefer hot tea at a Japanese restaurant but annoyed the snot out of James. He ended up with a beer and a water with barely any ice. I asked for extra in my water and got eight cubes. We started with a Mexican roll. It was under a tempura heading on the menu so we falsely assumed it would be fried. It was not. Just the shrimp was. We assumed it would be spicy as it contained jalapeno. It was not. Bland but huge. Fine but definitely misleading. Service was not terribly friendly or attentive. No one came back after entrees were served and I was nearly out of tea at that point but my mouth was full because we were only halfway through our sushi roll went they plopped down all the food. I did not get more tea until they figured we were needing the bill. Not ok. That food saved them. So tasty. Super tender teriyaki chicken, perfectly cooked salmon. Non greasy, super crisp tempura shrimp and veggies. The portions ginormous, I mean wow a lot of delicious food. The two meals could have satisfied three people completely. We rolled out of there fat and happy. I have had several good takeout lunches there of katsudon and chicken katsu don, ramen and such over the last few years. Overall my assessment is stick with the non sushi selections and it's stellar, it's better carryout than dine in. Lunch is a much better deal than dinner. It's a four if you follow those rules but overall it's no better than three stars for our dine in experience today

After graduating my girlfriend [now wife] and I would make it a point to try and eat at Matsu-Chan when in the area, even after our first kiddo, and eventually our second. Last year before one of our trips to the area my wife let me know that they were under new management and when I looked at the new menu, I was saddened that all of my favorite items were no longer present, and it seemed that my beloved little slice of Japan was now "just" a ramen shop. While my wife loves and can handle ramen and the broth, I would typically get the different rice bowls, or other entrees because while I love me some good ramen it doesn't work out well for me with the hour or so trip to the area. We'd get some rolls, takoyaki, and other appetizers to share around the table before digging into our main entrees. With the increased prices, and fewer options, I will end up going to any of the multitude of places [Aji-ten is usually our #2] to get my kick. I'll miss the little shop and the times I've had, like perusing the manga while waiting for a table. I wish the old owners the best, and the new management as well, especially if it was a familial transfer, but Matsu-Chan is not for me anymore. My wife will eventually get up there and let me know how it is, but for now, I'm just happy that a little bento shop opened near my workplace run by two first gen transplants, so I can at least get my fix without the drive.

Others following us added their names to the waitlist. The restaurant is small with just a handful of tables. One chef, it appears, prepared all the meals. I barely glanced at the menu; I already knew I was having the ramen. The only question was which one. My friend selected the eel bowl while I had the miso pork soup. The latter was served with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. The broth was full of flavor; I enjoyed every slurp. I appreciated that the meal was sizeable and inexpensive - I was able to stretch it to two meals. We did not linger given the number of people waiting.

It is located on Ford Rd, with IKEA, Carvel, and Buffalo Wild Wings serving as landmarks. The restaurant is dark, which always makes me a bit uneasy. Some chefs/owners may claim that it sets a mood, but I feel that it hides dirt and makes it challenging to discern ingredients. I quickly reviewed the menu and then carefully read all the ingredients to ensure that nothing I ordered contained salmon (an unfortunate allergy) and cream cheese. The latter because, after many, many attempts, I just don't like that ingredient in sushi rolls. I ordered the Tiger and Sunflower rolls. The Tiger roll starts with shrimp tempura wrapped with cucumber strips, crab stick, and eel, topped with more shrimp, avocado, and eel sauce. I also ordered the Sunflower roll and requested that the salmon be removed. It contained a mosaic of fish: white fish, tuna, yellowtail, escolar, (cooked) shrimp, crab stick, as well as avocado, and tamago. So very pretty. The Sunflower roll was, sadly, very bland. I don't think it was because of the missing salmon. I did like the Tiger roll, though. The mackerel sashimi and tamago also hit the spot, as they always do. Service was lovely. The servers were friendly and responsive. They quickly got take-out orders for the steady stream of customers.

It's a standalone structure with its own dedicated parking lot which was a plus. Upon entering, you informed the host if you wanted hibachi cooking for your meal or not. That would take you to the left or the right (hibachi) dining room for seating. The interior decor was lit up with neon lighting. It made the ambiance feel like you were stuck in the past. My friend and I came for a weekday lunch and elected not to do hibachi. During our visit, we were the only ones seated in the left dining room. The menu was contained within a multi-page booklet with lots of categories. Maybe that was part of the problem at Ichiban as the choices were too diverse. I ended up picking one of the five selections from the Udon Noodles or Soba part of the menu. The Nabe Yaki Udon was made up of udon noodles in a soup with shrimp tempura, chicken, fish cake, vegetable, and a poached egg. While waiting for our main courses, a complimentary dish of salad with ginger dressing was provided to each of us. My food came in two parts with the two pieces of shrimp tempura being served on its own dish. The bowl of noodles was placed on a plate as a holder. For $19.99, the portion size was small. The broth was mild and non-spicy while the rest was fairly standard. The tempura was the best part of my lunch which was not what I had hoped for. What led me to downgrade our dining experience to below three stars was the 20% gratuity that was added to our check. Nowhere was it stated on the menu that such a policy would be implemented. I rarely see this for a party of two as most restaurants don't automatically include a prespecified tip unless the group is six or more. The practice is also more customary at upscale establishments which Ichiban Hibachi Steakhouse and Sushi Bar was clearly not.
