    Spicy tuna roll
    Megan C.

ORDERED: Hamachikama bento - individual loved it, questions how is it possible for a hamachi collar to be so nicely seasoned and so crispy Spicy tuna roll - only avocado, very sour, very sriracha like, large chunks of tuna Salmon and hamachi don - totally not worth the cost, you receive 4 slices each of salmon and hamachi on top of a ton of sushi rice with one shiso leaf, a dollop of wasabi and a pinch of yellow ginger Wasabi is nearing on fake (complete fake is neon green) because it was not spicy at all nor had any flavor. Strange how they sell a variety of chili oils as it's a Japanese establishment. Food came out crazily fast. Plates and bowls for the raw items were cold. Perhaps prepared beforehand? SERVICE: only one lady was working the entire restaurant; went during peak hours and there were only 3 tables including us... then a person showed up at 12:51pm (they close at 1pm) and she let her in! You have to call her over...she doesn't just show up so I don't think this is called attentive? But very friendly and very sweet. Table, plates, cups, and utensils were moderately clean. AMBIENCE: old school Japanese decor with bamboo separations. Casual dining. Tough and rough hours to catch them since they're so short. Located in a small plaza with a private parking lot; did not have to wait for a spot. I'm excited to try their other items. Strange location. Strange hours. Strange wasabi.

Came back again for more great food!!! Tried this luxury bento box for the first time and they gave huge amount of sashimi :D Still amazing as always. The lady was very nice and attentive too. We went in dinner time so we used the iPad to order. Nice place for dinner with friends. Great selection of small dishes to go with beer.

I've been coming to Ajito for a few years now, and the service and quality of food remains impeccable. I highly recommend their miso soup, chicken karaage, ebi fry, inari sushi, California roll, chicken katsu curry, and salmon sashimi.

Solid casual sushi place. Good value for quality sushi. It's a small restaurant and it was fully packed on a weeknight. We were lucky to snatch the last table available. Lots of families with young kids, so definitely kid friendly too.

I stopped by for lunch about 20 mins after they opened. Here's what I got: Kaisen Bento Uni sushi sea urchin Salmon skin rolls Sashimi quality is good. Not too thin or too thick. Uni is fishy and average quality. I never had smaller size salmon skin rolls before. Also not a lot of crispy skin. Overall seems like they push bento box items the most. Service is standard and not a lot of talking. Parking is easy to find.

Had a craving for bento and noticed that they were open for lunch. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied but the restaurant filled up quickly afterwards. Not a super fancy place but it had a nostalgic home cooked vibe. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the agedashi nasu as an appetizer. It was DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked and sitting in a rich broth. I could've eaten the whole dish by myself. 10/10, definitely recommend ordering this. For our mains we ordered the Kaisen bento and Special A (chicken sauce cutlet over rice with grilled mackerel). Both came with a variety of side dishes and were presented beautifully. Such a great value for the price. We will definitely return in the future to try their other dishes!

This is a cute and small restaurant in an unassuming plaza. We stopped by on a random Friday and it was lively with regulars. We waited a little bit as there was only one server and she was doing her best. We got seated fairly quickly and ordered on the ipad. All a smooth process with good food and fresh sushi. This place feels very authentic and no fuss, which we appreciated for a casual meal. Will definitely go back and try more things.

Ajito in Cupertino is a quiet restaurant located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. My party of three visited on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant not packed at all. We were seated immediately. The ordering system is entirely iPad-based, right at your table, which includes ordering drinks like water - so don't forget to add it to your order! I tried the Kaisen Bento. It was very reasonable priced and the staff was kind enough to let me replace the shell fish with salmon. It also comes with uni but it wasn't that fresh. Overall it was vey decent. My friend raved about the Chicken Teriyaki, praising the flavorful sauce and perfectly cooked meat. We also shared the Chicken Karaage , which was also cooked to a crisp and golden perfection. Service was fast and friendly, making for a smooth and enjoyable meal. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, perfect for a casual dinner.

    Daily special A

Food quality & value is excellent! Service can be slow as they only have 1/2 servers. They have dividers between tables for good privacy, but made it a bit difficult to get servers attention. We came in for lunch and ordered daily special A and it was a lot of food ! (two kind of proteins with sides, salad & miso soup) for $21.99 My friend got karaage curry which also had big portion of karaage n it was juicy! Food was prepared fresh and was all tasty! Kaisen don bento comes with a lot of sashimi too which I would love to try next time!

We don't live to far away and always looking for good Japanese Restaurants, but never noticed this place until a few months ago when our previous favorite Sushi place suddenly stopped being our favorite place. Ajito is a real gem and a real Japanese Izakaya sytle restaurant run by a husband and wife team. The menu is surprisingly large and they have different bento box specials each day that you can preview on their Facebook page. So far I've pretty much ordered the Kasien Bento box with Assorted sashimi over sushi rice and a variety of side dishs each time which is great. But we go with other people so we've ordered a bunch of other stuff that have been great. Excellent Oshitashi, Agedashi Tofu, salmon skin rolls, Yaki Onigiri, Sashimi Salad, Grilled sliced beef tongue (not really into stuff like that but it was actually good). Everything we've had has been great. You should make reservations. Its small and intimate but does fill up especially on weekends.

Fantastic place to stop by for a bento to go. Was back in town for work and was looking for a simple and delicious Kaisen bento and Ajito definitely delivered! The inside is small and cute but filled up at dinner time. The food itself is delightful, everything is made and flavored well. Not too salty, and I enjoyed all of the little sides. Will definitely be back for more!

Kaisen Bento - just looking at it makes me happen. And it's so good!

I've enjoyed ordering their bento specials to go. This was the first try at dine in. I have to say the food and presentation were great. My daughter really enjoyed (and FINISHED) her kids meal presented in a pretty Hello Kitty bento box. I appreciate that Ajito's menu offered a different variety of izakaya dishes from our other favorite like Gochi and Rantei. I'm very surprised that it was not busy on a Saturday night at 6pm. Also to mention, the restaurant setting is casual, not too loud, which we preferred for a family dinner with kids.

Salmon and yellowtail sashimi was good. Ramen was great too, like better than many places that specialize in ramen! Casual ambiance.

Are they ever going to open for dine-in? Use to love dining here. What happened?

They started taking reservations for dine-in now.

    Is there outdoor seating? thanks.

No, there's no outdoor seating. Only takeout and delivery.

I think I saw on the news that a car crashed into Ajito? Is this true and if so, how are repairs going + is everyone okay? (ETA on reopening?)

I just called and they said that they are still open for business despite the incident.

The waiter initially tried to show me the menu and point out the dish, but it was clearly different from what I had ordered. He shortly realized there had been a mistake, and thankfully the correct dish came out about 5 minutes later. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was disappointing. The noodles were undercooked, and the sauce was quite bland. I was expecting the four-fish dashi and bacon flavor to stand out, but I didn't really get much of either. The sesame seeds were also very overpowering and seemed to take over the dish. Overall, the sauce tasted more like a basic, thin cream sauce that didn't coat the noodles very well. The bacon and mushrooms also didn't add much flavor or stand out as much as I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. The katsu itself looked crispy and appetizing, but the curry came out lukewarm. My friend was okay with the temperature, but when I tried it, I was honestly surprised by how close to room temperature it was. I would have expected the curry to at least be served hot or noticeably warm. Overall, the presentation of the food was nice, but unfortunately the flavors and temperature of the dishes didn't meet our expectations. Between the initial order mix-up, undercooked pasta, bland sauce, and lukewarm curry, it just wasn't a particularly memorable meal. There are definitely some things that could be improved.

For $18.99, you get your choice of two proteins, rice, salad, and miso soup, which is a pretty generous meal for the price. We all upgraded to the premium proteins for an extra $6 each. We tried both the short ribs and the ribeye. While the short ribs were good, I actually preferred the thinly sliced ribeye--it cooked quickly, stayed tender, and had great flavor. One pleasant surprise was the salad. It wasn't just an afterthought; it was fresh, well dressed, and honestly as good as the side salads served at many Japanese restaurants. The miso soup was also solid and rounded out the meal nicely. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the s'mores dessert. At $3, you get one small rectangle of Hershey's chocolate, one marshmallow, and two graham crackers. The portions are tiny, and if you have kids, they'll almost certainly want more than one. By the time you order enough to make everyone happy, it doesn't feel like much of a value. Overall, this isn't the best Japanese BBQ I've had, but that's not really the point. It's a consistently good, affordable meal with quality ingredients and generous portions for the price. If you're looking for a satisfying lunch that won't break the bank, Kura's lunch special is an easy five-star value.

We have tried other popular local ramen spots that just were not for us, but this one was definitely better and felt like it had more depth. The one thing we did not love was the noodle texture. They have some appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu, so we tried the gyoza, mochi and side tempura. The mochi had a house made sauce glaze that was sweet and salty, and came with nori as a wrap. The texture of the mochi was really soft and chewy. The gyoza were really crispy with a soft interior. We ended up ordering a second round of them. The tempura was nicely fried with not too much batter. The shrimp was really succulent and I liked that they have mushroom tempura too.
