Because this is not the place to go for authentic BBQ, especially now that expert barbecue people have opened an amazing place on Grand Avenue. As others have mentioned, the brisket here is simply cooked (sometimes to dryness), not smoked for many hours over a wood fire. The purple Cole slaw is an acquired taste that doesn't go well with meat or BBQ sauce, while the potato salad is just bland. If you stick with enchiladas and burritos and their fixings, you'll leave full and satisfied.

The beans were full of flavor. I got the pulled pork sandwich and I'll say it was one of the best ones that I have had. The only thing I would say was the potato salad could have used a little more salt but that's just a preference thing. The service was outstanding the woman who answered the phone was very friendly and definitely hooked us up. You know a restaurant is going to be amazing when you hear the chime when you open up the front door. I will definitely be coming back here if I get the opportunity. It was small with a few seats but will definitely say that it is clean and well kept.

Stepping into this massive, beautifully repurposed brick-and-timber space feels like being transported into a high-energy western gathering house--complete with high ceilings, rustic wood beams, pool tables, and an expansive bar line. But as impressive as the lively venue is, it's the food that will truly knock your socks off. Mind-Blowing Smokehouse Portions When your food hits the metal tray, prepare for a feast. The portion sizes here are downright generous. The burnt ends--piled high with a rich, dark, smoky bark--are melt-in-your-mouth tender, carrying deep caramelization and robust barbecue flavor. Paired with a towering side of piping-hot, seasoned waffle fries and a fluffy warm roll, it's a meat lover's absolute dream. Diverse Menu Choices While smoked barbecue (from juicy brisket to fall-off-the-bone ribs) is the crown jewel of Cowboy Café inside Buffalo Hall, the variety doesn't stop there. Whether you're craving thick-cut burgers, crispy chicken tenders, steak kabobs, or regional New Mexican specialties like calabacitas, chile-loaded spuds, and house pickled veggies, there is genuinely something on the menu for every palate in your group. Unbeatable Local Value In a time when dining out often comes with eye-watering price tags, Buffalo Hall keeps things shockingly affordable. You get top-tier, authentic smoked barbecue and hearty pub fare served in massive quantities without breaking the bank. Paired with cold craft draft beers and a broad whiskey selection at fair prices, it delivers incredible value for your money. For phenomenal food, a vibrant community atmosphere, and unmatched value, Buffalo Hall Bar & BBQ is a must-visit destination in Northern New Mexico. Don't miss it!

Wasn't worth a 20% tip, but know that for next time. Food- YUM and large portions. We got the ribeye. Char was great on the steak. The brisket was the best I've had since TX. Beans will be a pass next time. Onion rings were good. Great place for a large group for sure

Buffalo Hall and Cowboy Cafe - Yes, it's a BBQ joint. And the BBQ is great. But if not in the mood, the fish sandwich holds its own.

My wife bought me a silver shaving bowl for our anniversary at the Tabasco shop. They sell Pepsi products. The difference between the large vs medium margarita wasn't that much of a value. However, I ordered the bbq ribs because the menu says they are baby back ribs. They are not: they are spare ribs. Very tough and you have to saw them off the bone with a knife. I went ahead and ate as much as I could because I was starving after hiking all day. I asked the waitress if these were really baby back ribs. She said "oh, no, those are not baby back." I told her the menu says baby back. She said "nowhere on the menu does it say baby back." I asked her to bring a menu and then I showed her where it clearly states baby back. She said, "oh, I learned something new". I then asked to see the owner, Orlando. He refused to come. The waitress said he was busy working the bar so I went to see him (since he didn't have the simple customer service courtesy of coming to see me at my table). I told him that I wasn't looking for a free meal but I thought he could do something (like 1/2 off my meal, a free appetizer, anything; I would have been happy with an apology). I told him that he is buying spare ribs because they are cheaper and trying to pass them off as baby back and this is false advertising. He didn't say a word. Busted.
