Not for me. I didn't care for the flavors. Not a fan of the batter. The fish itself was on the fishier side. I'm not big on that. I prefer my fish to not be fishy lol The macaroni and cheese tasted different, but it was edible. I probably would not eat that again though. If I had a choice between that Mac and cheese and another kind- I would pick the other kind lol This macaroni and cheese had spice in it? It took away from the cheesy part. I guess I didn't like the rue. The hush puppies were alright. They definitely have a southern kind of twang on their food, that I apparently don't like lol My husband and his family are from Tennessee and he didn't like this style of fish. He got the catfish and said it wasn't to his preference. Ambiance was slow. No one was in there. Really love and enjoy their food! We made a large to-go order a couple days ago and was pretty surprised with how fast it was going to take to be done. I showed up and the transaction was easy and everyone working was super kind and friendly! Really excited about a point system they have, too! They even offered help carrying my order to out to the car which was such a nice gesture. I ordered the Buffalo Shrimp Fries which were sooooo so good. Husband had Catfish Po Boy which he really liked! Kids loved their chicken/shrimp meals, and the sides were perfect! Loved the fried okra!! Drove here from Perris and one thing I will say is it was worth it the staff here is friendly and the food was good.. my oysters was fried perfectly the red snapper was seasoned well and not dry at all my only complaint is the fish fillets was very thin..other than that my experience here was well worth it I will definitely be returning here.... read more

The taste has gone down A LOT since the lady owner is not there much. Also, the guy who is there all the time (maybe her son ) has a horrible personality. He has zero customer service skills. He makes people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. His demeanor takes away from the ambiance. It's sad because I really like AJs. I'm not going to give up on them just yet. I picked collard greens and Mac n cheese for my sides. Fish was alright. I didn't like the greens because it was bitter. First time I ever had collard greens was in South Carolina and it was super delicious so I was hoping to get the same experience here but nope. Mac n cheese was ok as well. Service was just fine. All I have to say is "Yummy!". We went today and the food portions were beyond surprising. They give you whole fish pieces not the small half sizes most fish places give you. The jumbo shrimp are just that jumbo shrimp! The food is excellent quality. And don't get me started on the sweet potato fries. They must cut the sweet potatoes because they definitely are't frozen. Cute little hidden gem I didn't ask, but definitely seems like a family business in order. Lady helped us take our order. She was a very sweet. We spent about $119 for it. A lot of food fed five people. The food was really tasty. I have really no complaints except you should ask for the fish to be fried well done almost crispy. So of course he says let's go over there and it's a little over 20 minutes from us, but it was well worth the drive! We've been there twice so far and it has not been crowded either time. We order our food and we take it to go and it seems like others do the same thing. Ordered 2 dinner meals with 4 sides (2 cold & 2 hot) and 2 canned drinks (root beer). Shrimp with collard greens & mac n cheese, fried fish (snapper) with cole slaw & potato salad. The fried shrimp and fried fish breading is a corn meal style..very good. Sauces: hot sauce, cocktail and tartar. About $54 total. We dined in on a Sunday between 5:00p- 6:30p. The dine in area has no frills..has tables with chairs which is all you need to enjoy their food. We honestly enjoyed our meal and liked everything we ordered. Felt like we were eating at a backyard fish fry. We would dine in again but for a dinner timeframe we'll definitely call in the order instead of showing up to order. Or arrive earlier. Our food took some time due to the online ordering and number of folks dining in (close to 40mins). We had to modify our original order during the wait as they ran out of fried okra and catfish.
