We used to go to Top Grill often years ago because the food was always fresh, healthy, delicious, and generously portioned. I especially love the grilled salmon, and my go-to is usually the steak and chicken bowl with vegetables and either white or brown rice. My husband loves their chicken bowl as well. Everything we've tried has always tasted fresh and high quality at a very fair price. Recently though, after the ownership change, I became disappointed because instead of the delicious teriyaki sauce in the little takeout containers, we were only given salty soy sauce packets and chili sauce packets. It completely changed the experience for me, and honestly made me not want to come back. I finally decided to call and speak with Bob. I explained how much we missed the original teriyaki sauce and how the portions had started feeling skimpy compared to the past. Bob was wonderful. He listened, cared, and simply said, "I got you. I'll take care of you." And wow....he absolutely did. The steak and teriyaki chicken bowl I received was one of the best I've ever had from Top Grill. The portions were generous again, the food was fresh and flavorful, and that delicious teriyaki sauce was back! My husband loved his chicken bowl too. Customer service really matters, and Bob completely changed our experience. Because of him, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you, Bob, for caring about your customers. I called and ordered chicken bowl with no rice and extra veggies. The person was nice and asked questions to make sure he had my order correct. When I got there asked if I wanted extra sauce. The restaurant was small with few tables and clean. It's close to my house and easy for me to grab on my way home. They give extra teriyaki sauce in small containers and it's reallllly good. Honestly this place is okay I prefer to go to waba for more quality meat just because their steak was a little too tuff for me to chew. For the chicken it tasted a bit fatty and gave off that chickeny taste, but I will say their teriyaki sauce is really good so I recommend to get extra to over shadow the chicken taste . And as for portion size you can clearly see that they're generous with it especially for the affordable price. The last 2 times I have had to throw my bowl away after becoming a bit grossed out after getting a lot of fat/ grissel on the chicken. Top Grill is located in a small plaza in a residential area off Margarita Rd and Date St. Their menu is very simple and consists of chicken, beef, salmon, and short ribs that could he made into a plate or bowl combo, kinda like Waba or Flame Broiler. I always get the short ribs or sometimes a beef plate. Proteins are always marinated well and grilled to order. I highly recommend Sriracha w every bite, as it gives it a slight hint of heat and balances the teriyaki flavor w its tart and spice. read more

Decent. They use fresh ingredients, cooked in non rancid oils, and I can appreciate that. My only two complaints are, for one they don't give you enough sauce to spread around that dry a** meat, and for two they have some of the most watered down boba teas. My wife and I stopped by the top grill for lunch. The food was pretty good, except my wife asked for brown rice and got white. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed that they had one TV and they were showing the movie the Hangover. They had the volume extremely high on the television and everybody in the restaurant could definitely hear it. There was a family sitting in the restaurant with kids two under 10 years. The movie was inappropriate and loaded foul language and unsavory scenes. None of the stuff was appropriate for my wife or myself or especially for those kids. For that reason, my wife and I will not be coming back to top grill. While I was there, I went to purchase an iced tea that was marked $.99 and they tried to charge me two dollars for it. I told the dude at the register it was illegal to upsell commodities that are already priced. Needless to say the 20 year-old man who was making probably $17 an hour, didn't give a crap. Yes, charging more than the marked price of $0.99 for a $2.00 item is illegal in California under deceptive pricing laws, not price gouging, which applies during a declared emergency. Almost a mirror product of what you expect from flame broiler. The exception is that it is mom and pop owned but comparatively better. The beef was a step better and had good size cuts, but overall the side salad, vegetables and orange slices were the samr. Definitely a nice go to spot for locals. Been to this spot a few times so far, they have very clean & healthy food, I like to build my own plate, I went with steak, shrimp and white meat chicken, the chicken is very well marinated, the flavor is there in each bite, the steak is juicy and has no any hard or chewy pieces, the shrimp marination as a as well. The food was delicious and the chicken was cooked to perfection. It was perfect. The teriyaki flavor is comparable to that of other restaurants with a similar menu that I usually go to. The serving sizes are ideal. For an additional fee, you can also add more meat if you'd like. This is a pretty decent spot for teriyaki bowls. We got Beef Bowls, one with veggie and white rice, the other with brown rice. The portion is filling and it comes with extra sauce on the side.
