This is a great place for young adults who don't know or don't care about good food. My husband and I (senior citizens) came for a late lunch, around 2:30 on a Tuesday. The man in the kiosk explained the ordering process and gave us 4 laminated pages, each representing a section of the menu and said we could refer to them or to a menu board overhead. Working our way thru the bulky and bent pages was confusing. The board was also confusing, only because it was high overhead and in an area where there wasn't much room to stand. The husband ordered a steak sandwich on salad greens. I ordered the Santa Fe potato. The man in the kiosk was helpful and friendly. The cashier was civil and almost completely disengaged. Eye contact once and a returned smile to my smile, but otherwise seemed disinterested in enhancing my lunch experience. The restaurant serves the food in aluminum bowls. No problem there, but when I touched my bowl, it was ice cold. The salad greens were fine, but the steak looked like it had been reheated. At least once. My husband said the quality was fine given the price, but over-spiced. The potato arrived barely warm and it was completely cold by the time I finished. The chicken was so shredded it looked like what I feed the cat. The taste suggested it was wanna be authentic, but not quite there yet. The salsa was tasty, but the entire dish was smothered in it. Salsa is a garnish or something to be added in at the eater's choice. the entire dish was topped by thin and runny sour cream. The server gave us two plastic forks and one knife and a ton of napkins. Really really wanted to love this place. Overall, the food was good. We got the Italian and the Alcatraz as well as some exploding potatoes and Mac & cheese. The service was pretty abysmal, we were behind one couple who expressed they had already waited 5 minutes to order and we were all still waiting a good 10 min beyond that. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there were 4 employees behind the counter, but perhaps they were busy with takeout or deliver orders? Either way, it definitely doesn't hurt to let the people in line know that you'll be with them momentarily. The guy working at the bar couldn't have been less helpful, but whatever. Then they forgot our Mac n cheese, but eventually brought it out. It wasn't that great anyway. The potatoes were good, it's definitely a very clever way to use up the unsold baked potatoes from the day or two before. The Italian was good, but the dressing tasted like straight vinegar so it kind of overpowered the rest but the meat and veggies seems fresh and plentiful. We would possibly stop back if we were hungry and in the area but it def won't make the "destination location" criteria for when we are craving really good food. I'd like to try more of the menu and hopefully catch the staff on a better day before fully deciding. read more

If I could give 3.5 or 3.7 stars I would. We enjoyed our experience. The process is a little unique, you order food first and then go to a separate counter for drinks and to pay. We really liked the trans am. The alcatraz was just okay. Needed more of the honey mustard in my opinion. The hot potato salad was just okay as well. My parents absolutely loved it. Hit or miss nowadays and depends on who is preparing the food. I've been going to Friscos for many many years, but today was my last time. I really hate to give two stars as it has been very good in the past, but with the cost of eating out going up, I can't recommend anymore. I got the Lombard and after a couple of bites realized that there was way to much sea-salt on it and returned it to the counter. The person said, 'do you want me to make you another?' I declined. Would have been nice if they offered a refund. Didn't seem like anyone cared too much. Consistency has always been a problem here, but it never caused a bad result...until now. Oh well. Everything is always so delicious here. The loaded potatoes are incredible and so are their sandwiches. The ambiance is lively since it's usually packed whenever I go. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and prompt service, great food. It's a little out of the way and tucked away. You can get takeout as well through the other entrance. Good salad, too much to choose from. Stopped here during the week and got a chicken salad. The salad was great and well seasoned. I knocked it down one star because of the general confusion when ordering. The menu is soo big that it takes awhile to figure out what you want the first time. I ultimately chose the chicken salad because it sounded like the safest option. What a hidden (business park) gem! This past weekend while visiting Fredrick Maryland, we found this place thanks to Yelp. And I had the BEST turkey sandwich I've ever had! I also got their smashed potatoes which is literally all the great things about a loaded baked potato, smashed into one. They are definitely open during Covid and everyone was very friendly and the service was speedy. They also have a very large selection of specialty beers and kombucha. This place is located in the middle of nowhere Frederick but it's so worth the drive. Lol. Hands down they have the best baked potatoes in Maryland. Today I had the steak baked potato and now I'm ready for a nap. Honestly the picture I took does the food no justice, you have to try it to believe me. We also got a steak salad which is also large in portion size and tasty. The menu has something for everyone. Veggie lovers included. First, the food we ordered was absolutely delicious! We both ordered the salad with beans, rice, Quinoa, fresh spinach, avocado all wonderfully spiced with cheese melted on top. The odd thing is they don't serve coffee and it was kind of chilly in the restaurant. Luckily they had some hot green tea. Since it was our first visit, ordering was kind of confusing. But everyone was friendly and nice. Hopefully, if we visit again, they will let us BYOT, bring your own thermos of coffee! read more

An unexpected observation was that the bread was toasted but the sandwich itself was not so the warmth of the bread was cut by the cold meat. It's hard to describe what kind of motif they are going for inside...it's just something you have to experience for yourself. That being said, this place just goes to show you can decorate the inside of a place however you want and as long as the food is good, prices are fair, and you have something unique to offer any restaurant can survive. The sandwiches are large and in charge and very fairly priced. They have smashed baked potatoes with all kinds of toppings. They are big and a meal in themselves so don't think you are going to get a sandwich and a baked potato in one meal and be able to finish it lest your name be Joey Chestnut. I came here with my dad and we had a great lunch!! Between the two of us, we had the following: Tuna sandwich - delicious, flavorful! Tuna was not too heavy on mayo, which I appreciated. Sausalito - this was also delicious Veggie and hummus - 4 dipping sauces were great, everything was very fresh. The only random thing is that it comes with a bunch of lettuce, so then we ate some of it like a salad. Golden gate sandwich - this was also delicious and flavorful! Came back during Covid times. I was disappointed in the items that we got. I was impressed with the cleanliness. They had gloves for people and a very thorough set up in regards to Covid. The staff that we had to interact with was also very pleasant. We got a fat boy, a barbecue sandwich and The Ashberry. Also got mac & cheese and chili I think? Overall all of the items that we received were under seasoned and mediocre. The mac & cheese was penne pasta which I'm not a fan of, and then probably Velveeta or American cheese because it was bright orange. In desperate need of pepper. The fat boy sandwich Was also a little dry and bland. I added more of the space oil to it and it did not help. Way too much lettuce. Barbecue sandwich was also in need of seasoning. The Ashberry was OK but way too much sprouts. The chili was all right. Got a couple of sodas from the pop shop which are cool. Overall I don't think I'll return. read more

Don't let the industrial complex location fool you because this place is a hidden gem! We came here on a recent stormy afternoon and were blown away by the experience. It might just be my thing but I dig the warehouse feel of the interior with super high ceilings and a beach vibe - so unexpected before waking in! ++ Curry chicken sandwich: there's a name for this, but the bottom line is that it was delicious, and the sprouts had this extra stuff in the seasoning that sent a tingling sensation (in a good way!) on my tongue with each bite...heaven! Exploded potato: clever. An awesome alternative to fries or chips, this potato was buttery smooth and perfectly seasoned as an accompaniment to the 5-star sandwich Fast service and casual vibe, and the rainstorm added to the experience. This place is AyyyyMayyyZing! I have yet to try anything that I haven't liked. Whenever family and/or friends visit from out of town and we need a great lunch spot or just a consistently good tasting place, Friscos is one of our go-to's. A lot of the menu items make references to one of the greatest cities in the US/World...San Francisco. If you've never had their exploded potatoes....make sure you definitely order some. They're life changing. That being said, any of their potatoes will blow your mind. I decided to pay Friscos a visit during the Covid-19 pandemic and pickup was extremely safe with safe spacing markers on the ground to maintain appropriate social distancing. This visit my family and I ordered their Mild Wings (well done), a Skinny Green Pizza (add Bacon...duh), and one of my 4 favorite sandwiches (yes it's possible to have 4 favorites) the Trans Am. It's always tough to choose what to order, but today I got the San Bruno, curried chicken sandwich on sourdough minus sprouts. This was the first sandwich I got the first time here and was the reason I love this place. Today, however, is wasn't very flavorful at all. With social isolation, many businesses are struggling to stay afloat. So, every Tuesday I celebrate #TakeoutTuesday. I know that I am saving a lot of money from being in the house and see my patronage similar to making a donation to my community. I am trying my best to do my part anyway I can - large or small. a.k.a Friscos is open during social isolation. They have a pick-up window which allows ample space to remain 6 ft or more apart. a.k.a Friscos is a lunch done right! I ordered the Alcatraz sandwich and a small bowl of spicy chili. The sandwich had a nice texture and the chile was flavorful. My only critique is ...I don't know why so many businesses think sandwiches are supposed to be huge...I wish that I was able to put it in my mouth. It was very wide. And I love, love, love spice - I can probably handle more than the average so I wish the spicy chili was kicked up a notch. I plan on coming back again for lunch some time! read more
