I'm so happy that we tried this place! It was some of the best sushi I've had in my LIFE. Biting into one of these rolls sent me to literal HEAVEN. The tuna was so bright and fresh. The service was kind and very quick. Our waiter was very accommodating as we were trying to get to a show at the American Bank Center during Art Walk. Cute small restaurant that was walkable from my hotel. As a vegetarian I got the fried tofu and a side of veggies. I was a little disappointed that the tofu was soggy. I was here with my husband, it was our first time. We walked in and didn't get acknowledged at all until like 5 minutes later even tho one of the waitress looked at us a couple of times. Here is what was very disappointing. After we were done eating we literally had to wave multiple times to another waitress because after we got our food our waitress didn't come back to the table. This waitress (tall, very skinny) was so focus on conversations with other guests at the restaurant that she didn't see us at all. She was having the time of her life with those guests and not once turned around to check on us. So of course we just had to sit there and wait for her to finish having her little fun conversations then out of nowhere a man which i believe is the owner or manager came to our table and checked if everything was ok. He was very nice but when i asked him for a box to go he took my food to box it up which was great except he proceeded to make conversation with some guests that were leaving so there i was looking at my food on his hand while he was enjoying his conversation. Dont get me wrong, I love a restaurant where they treat you like they have known you forever. What got to me was that it really showed favoritism towards some guests and little courtesy by not checking on us for a long time. My husband was also shocked that this waitress was touching her back bottom while laughing and conversing with other guests which i find crazy. That being said, this was our first time there and maybe it was just a one time thing so hopefully not everyone gets the same treatment but, honestly after that first impression we are definitely not going back. read more

The restaurant is a stand alone with parking at the back. While you walk towards the front door, you cannot miss the beautiful and very detailed mural. Unfortunately, some items we ordered didn't make it to the camera roll for they were devoured right away. We had the cucumber salad, sunomono salad, garlic and spicy edamame, avocado bomb, shrimp fried rice, aburi salmon and the party boat. Everything was divine, chef's kiss! We enjoyed the avocado bomb experience and the crunchiness of it. But oh my, I cannot stress enough how good was the aburi salmon, they told us it needs to be eaten just as it is and right away. It was heaven in my mouth. Of course, we had to get their Party Boat, sashimi were cut in perfect thickness and the nigiri with the right amount of rice. Also, the shrimp fried rice was so tasty! They used the big shrimps which were cooked perfectly. I couldn't get enough of it. They also serve Orion which I had the pleasure of trying, the beer was so smooth and easy to drink. The old fashioned was great. I was there so long that I decided to try the sake too. I got the snow maiden sake and this is probably the first good sake I've ever had as I've historically gotten the house. On to the food; I got the Texas Thunder roll and a regular Ol' spicy tuna roll with extra spicy Mayo on the side. Phenomenal. When I first went to dig in I shot half of my chopstick across the room right as the manager (possibly owner) was walking up. She saw what happened and promptly got me another pair. My fiancé and I drove 6 hours down from Denton to have a celebratory beach birthday weekend, and after a long day on the road Aka Sushi did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the portions were fair, and the sashimi was fresh, and the service was incredible. Every staff member we spoke with was friendly and treated us like we were special! Towards the end of our meal I mentioned we were traveling for my fiancé's birthday and they surprised us with a free cheesecake! I didn't get the full experience because we were only there for appetizers but I was underwhelmed. The calamari was tough and chewy and the dumplings weren't my favorite and were a bit soft. The inside was fine, it was pretty small but the staff was kind. There was no sort of wine list, but I enjoyed the saki we shared. I wasn't turned off, and am thinking they may have just had a bad night. We didn't try the sushi so I have no comment on that. read more

My waitress was so attentive and responsive and the sushi chef had fantastic recommendations and hand delivered some items! The real star of the show was Joshua however, he was knowledgeable, personable, and made my dining experience one of a kind! The food was beautifully presented and to die for . There was a freshness about this food that I haven't experienced in Corpus. The food came out quick. We ordered Spicy garlic edamame which was good. Miso soup on the house and it was good. Also, they gave us, "salmon biscuit" or something like that. It was great! It was on the house. As far as suishi, we ordered The volcano roll, dynamite roll, and the spicy crunch roll. I thought it was pretty tasty but my husband didn't care for it at all. He said that it was very bland. I would've liked a little eel sauce or spicy mayo but our server hadn't come around and we were hungry. I loved that the rice was absolutely perfect and slightly warm.
